5 GOP Governors May Refuse to Obey Obama’s Global Warming Rules

Five Republican Governors are cooperating in a 10th Amendment-styled, states rights bid to defeat Obama’s un-Constitutional global warming power grab. The five are saying that they may simply ignore his edicts and refuse to implement his rules. Is your governor joining them? If not, why not?

Two of the GOP governors rattling their sabers are presidential hopefuls, so this issue just might become a national issue during the upcoming primary season.

The five governors who are warning Obama that they will simply ignore his power grab are Mary Fallin of OK, Greg Abbott of TX, Mike Pence of IN, and presidential candidates Bobby Jindal of LA, and Scott Walker of WS are also part of the group.

Assuming The South Was ‘The Confederacy’ Is Built on a Lie

When people today say that “the south” were all racist “Confederates” during the civil war you can dismiss them as either historically illiterate cranks, or liars. That’s because there was no such thing as “the south” during the civil war. History is more complicated than that and we risk not understanding our own country if we ignore this fact.

When simpletons think about the American civil war they think of “the north” versus “the south.” But the truth is there was never any “the south” during the whole of the conflagration. Not for an instant was “the south” fully vested in the Confederate States of America. Instead, as “the south” fought the federal army in multiple places around the country there were vicious internal insurrections and mini civil wars going on all over the place as southerners who supported the U.S. government fought and killed southerners who supported the nascent Confederacy and this fighting was going on in the supposed Confederate states themselves, quite apart from the war proper raging on famed battlefields across the land.

The fact is, “the south” was never fully under the control of the central Confederate government in Richmond (and Montgomery, Alabama before that) and neither were the Confederate state governments able to completely control their own states because of constant internal resistance from their own citizens. There was internecine warfare going on in North Carolina, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas and other southern states throughout the civil war.

Even as the south was never fully vested in the Confederacy, the north was never paralyzed with such consternation. A key to proving this is to look at the volunteers who streamed to the armies north and south. In the north there is only one state, Illinois, that ever had any appreciable southern volunteers.

Racist Actor George ‘Mr. Sulu’ Takei Calls Black Man a ‘Clown in Black Face’

Is the out and proud gay Star Trek actor a racist for calling a black man a “clown in black face”? Usually the left attacks racists like this for this kind of hate speech? Of course, the left won’t attack in this case because “Mr. Sulu” just attacked Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, a black man that the left claims “isn’t really black.”

Takei made his racist comment during an interview on a local Phoenix Fox News affiliate. He was on to talk about his views on gay marriage, an issue on which he’s become a loud national supporter.

Takei attacked Thomas for saying that slavery was “dignified” and then couched his discussion of American slavery by quoting a movie. Yes, a movie. Takei thinks movies tell us all we need to know about America history.

Chris Christie: Historical Illiterate

On Tuesday, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie announced that he was joining the other 75 or 80 candidates for the 2016 GOP nomination for president. But during his announcement, Christie seemed to prove that he is illiterate about American history.

One of Christie’s great themes during his announcement is that the nation needs a great compromiser in chief, a candidate who will “reach across the aisle” and work with “our friends the Democrats.”

But in touting his fealty to “compromise,” Christie made an analogy to the Founding fathers that was both clumsy, and completely incorrect.

A little less than half way through his comments, Christie delivered this paragraph:

And both parties. Both parties have failed our country. Both parties have stood in the corner and held their breath and waited to get their own way. And both parties have lead us to believe that in America, a country that was built on compromise, that somehow now compromise is a dirty word. If Washington and Adams and Jefferson believed compromise was a dirty word, we’d still be under the crown of England.

Firstly, when he said, “If Washington and Adams and Jefferson believed compromise was a dirty word, we’d still be under the crown of England,” this doesn’t even make any sense at all. None of these three founders “compromised” with England. Neither did any of the other founders. Once they chose separation and independence there was no longer any thought to compromising with the British government.

So, right there that line makes no sense at all.

An Example of How the Media is Lying About the Confederate Flag

The current flap over the Confederate flag has two very interesting features. One is that the debate over the flag is completely divorced from the incident that supposedly spawned it–the nine murdered in a Charleston church. And two, it is notable for the fact that the media is lying about the flag’s history by making the Confederacy out to be a “Republican problem” instead of more properly a Democrat one.

While Democrats and their media lapdogs run around attacking the Confederate flag in support of the nine murder victims of the AME church in Charleston, the fact is the flag has nothing at all to do with the attack. Many have noted that the whole debate is a total distraction, certainly, but it is a distraction with a point and that point is in my second reason for this debate. Clearly the goal is to drum up a fake issue with which to attack Republicans.

One of the more fitting example of this effort to paint Republicans as the Party of the Confederacy is in a Monday piece by The New York Times’s Michael Barabaro and co-author Jonathan Martin.

The Monday piece is entitled, “5 Days That Left a Confederate Flag Wavering, and Likely to Fall,” and the entire article is a skewing of history in order to foist the controversy of the Confederacy upon the Republican Party–yes, the very party that fought against the Confederacy.

The most revealing paragraph is the article’s fifth.

Jeb Bush Calls Southerners and the Confederate Flag ‘Racist’

Jeb Bush has now told the entire south that he doesn’t want their vote by claiming that the Confederate flag and all who support it are racist.

Bush made his comments on Monday at a campaign stop in South Carolina.

He told the media in Charleston that he has felt that the flag and those who support it are racist since he took down the flag in Florida in 2001.

“The symbols were racist,” the Republican presidential candidate said during a campaign stop at a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant.

“If you’re trying to lean forward rather than live in the past, you want to eliminate the barriers that create disagreements, and so I did,” he added.

Notice that Bush used the liberal terminology “lean forward” here? Quite telling on how he thinks.

Fresh off her PR victory of calling for the end of Confederate history, this weekend South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley called for the removal of cotton balls from the her state citing the long history of racism the product represents.

“Today we are here in a moment of unity in our state without ill will to say it is time to remove cotton balls from our state,” said the Republican Governor, the state’s first non-white governor, while flanked by a diverse group of South Carolina politicians.

“These balls, while an integral part of our past, do not represent the future of our great state,” Haley said. “We need to eliminate not just cotton balls, but all cotton products from our good state because of the racist history cotton has to a tiny, activist portion of our citizenry.”

Proponents said that lifting cotton balls from store shelves reminds African Americans too much of “pickin’ cotton,” and the constant reminder of tags in clothing that tell buyers that an item is made of cotton is racist.

Vatican Signs Peace ‘Treaty’ With Non-Existent ‘State of Palestine’

Those criticizing Pope Francis as the “Red Pope” have yet another reason to rail against him with the announcement that the Vatican has signed a new peace treaty with the “state of Palestine” despite the fact that no such state exists not to mention that the Palestinians are a terror group whose chief goal is to kill all Jews–a goal the Palestinians have steadfastly refused to change.

The AP reports today that Vatican Foreign Minister Paul Gallagher signed a treaty with the terrorist state of Palestine in order to “help stimulate peace with Israel.”

Israel said that it regrets the move saying it would tend to discourage the Palestinians from returning to direct peace negotiations with Israel and warned that it would study the agreement “and its implications for future cooperation between Israel and the Vatican.”

‘King v Burwell’ Marks the Official End of the American Republic

As he exited the Constitutional Convention, Benjamin Franklin was supposed to have told a bystander that the founders had given us a Republic, “if we could keep it.” Well this week’s latest Obamacare decision by the U.S. Supreme Court proves that we ultimately couldn’t keep it, Mr. Franklin. America is now a dead letter.

Of course, what Franklin’s possibly apocryphal reply meant was that we only had a United States system if informed citizens kept the government’s feet to the republican fires. We could only keep the system the founders gave us if we made sure the government stayed true to the system as handed down to us.

That system was one of a constitutional republic built on a rule of law, built on generations of tradition as evinced in the Common Law, and laid out with a system that had set parameters that were expected to remain virtually unchanged (though not unchangeable).

That system has been slowly eroded by parties and presidents who have had no fealty to our American way of life. Destroyers such as the Democrat Party, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, and the mewling fellow travelers of the GOP who have quietly supported the destruction, all have taken their toll on our republic. But it wasn’t until the advent of our most anti-American president yet in Barack Hussein Obama that the nation finally died a death not from revolution, but from neglect.

Thoday’s action by the opportunist Chief Justice John Roberts has thrown the last spade full of dirt over the grave of the American Republic.

Frightening Poll: Large Number of American Muslims Believe Sharia Better Than US Constitution

A new poll finds that a very large number of American Muslims feel that sharia law is better than US law. And most consider themselves to be a member of the Democrat Party–a party that not surprisingly also has little interest in the US Constitution.

The poll of American Muslims was taken this June for The Center for Security Policy and here are some of the Poll’s findings:

When asked how they define “sharia,” 71 percent essentially see sharia as a guide for all aspects of a Muslim’s life, one more important than the US way of life or US law.

When asked if sharia should replace the Constitution only 43 percent said no and an astounding 33 percent said yes. So, when asked straight on a small majority shied from saying the want the Constitution replaced with sharia.

But American Muslims came closer to how they really feel when they were asked if they thought Muslims in the USA should be judged under US law. Only 30 percent said that US courts should be first and foremost as the place for adjudicating legal matters while 51 percent said that they should be allowed to ignore US law and be free to use their own sharia courts instead.

If You Are A Republican Who is All Balled Up About the Confederate Flag, You are a Traitor

This week the left has gone off on another one of its meaningless tangents in response to something wholly divorced from their newest crusade. This time they are suddenly all upset about the Confederate flag. Why? Because a killer is seen in a photo with one. So, OK, fine. The left has its wild eyed tangents, we all know. But what is most infuriating about this particular crusade is that morons who claim to be Republicans are also joining in with this silliness. Certainly those who have should be branded traitors to the center right coalition.

Now, let’s get a few historical things straight before we get any further into this slapping down of these useful idiots on the right for being so stupid as to allow the left to–once again–control the entire political narrative. The Confederate flag is no longer an effective symbol of racism. The CS flag is not any more a racist symbol than the US or the British flags.

Of course, while it is true that the CS flag is essentially an anti-US government flag, it isn’t an anti-American flag. It is true that it is a flag that opposed the government of the United States but it never was one that opposed the American ideal. It isn’t an anti-American flag because as far as the Confederates were concerned in 1860 they were being more true to the original intent of the American founders than the US government was. In fact, their CS Constitution is in most ways just a copy of the US Constitution.

With their claim to be giving more deference to the founder’s ideals, the civil war’s “rebels” shared a sentiment with the American patriots from the Revolutionary War. Our founders wanted to separate from Britain because they felt that Britain was no longer acting British and had instead become something inimical to Britishness. The founders felt they were being truer to Britishness than were the British back in the mother country. In like style the Confederates felt they were being more American than the federal government and the Yankees.

But it is also absolutely beyond doubt that the CS government’s flags (the Bonnie Blue flag, the proper Stars and Bars–which isn’t the Southern Cross–the Stainless Banner and the Third National flags) were all essentially racist banners because one of the central tenets upon which the CS government was built was the protection of slavery.

There were several other reasons for the war, mind you, but slavery was foremost. You can make that out as a fact because nearly every secession statement by the southern states issued to explain why they were leaving the union mentions slavery multiple times.

Illinois Media Ignoring Rep. Tammy Duckworth’s Corruption and Whistleblower Case

In Illinois we have a complicit, left-wing media establishment that will never write a bad story about Democrats. This deal with 8th District Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth–a candidate for the US Senate, no less–is a perfect example. Duckworth is being accused of punishing two whistleblowers who were trying to uncover Duckworth’s massive mismanagement when she was at the VA and yet the media is practically silent on the story.

Durckworth is now being sued by two whistleblowers who came forward to reveal her complete mismanagement of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs. They are suing because when they tried to bring this info forward, Duckworth retaliated against them and punished them for shining a light on the mismanagement.

Duckworth is currently selling herself as an ideal candidate for the US Senate and will run against the weak spinned Republican Mark Kirk in 2016. One of her claims to fame is her tenure at the Illinois VA where she served as Director Of The Illinois Dept. Of Veterans Affairs between December 15, 2006 and February 6, 2009.

Wanted: A Real Man and a Father for Fathers Day (Happy Fathers Day 2015)

Help Wanted: A father is needed.

America a father is needed: He should be strong of will, stout of heart, and serious in demeanor. He must love without being effusive. He must lead by example. He must have a soft spot for his daughters and tough hand with his sons. He must love his wife and family more than his own comforts because he understands that the duties he accepts as a father are more important than momentary amusements.

We want a man that will growl when their sons step out of line, the kind young boys don’t want to cross–not necessarily out of fear, but because they are loath to disappoint the old man. Give us a man who will happily show his gun collection to his daughter’s first boy friend. Let us have the man who those boyfriends can’t imagine calling anything other than “sir.”

Unfortunately, he is exactly the sort of man that liberals have targeted for elimination. Liberals hate words like maturity, protectiveness, patriarchy, and manliness.

Liberals celebrate backwards ball cap wearing, video game playing, punks who still want to act like they are 19 when they are nearing the 30s. Perpetual little boys who just want to have toys, see movies, go to concerts and jump into bed with what ever sort of woman strikes their fancy, the sort of man child who won’t think past a beer run planned for the weekend.

These are the kind of “men” that leave children alone with a woman struggling to survive. But they are just the kind liberals love because they leave human wreckage everywhere they go, people that big daddy government can rescue with big government programs and, naturally, more power for Democrats.

So, don’t give us Obama Pajama Boys. Forget the left’s meterosexuals. We’ll take a pass on their “coexist” bumper stickers and their gutless Priuses.

We don’t want your Brad Pitts, your moron Phil Dunphys, your drug addled Charlie Sheens or your pointless pretty boy Zac Efrons.

Give us Hugh Beaumont, Father Knows Best, let’s have more like John Wayne and Robert Mitchum. Give us more Billy Grahams, please?

But whatever you do, give us real men who have a sense of morality. The country is in desperate need of them.

A Twitter user named Kevin Schaffner found the absolute perfect example of how the left lies about Americans while at the same time making excuses for Muslim terrorism. His example lies in two headlines from the ultra left-wing website Salon.com, one saying how all white people must answer for the shooting at the church in Charleston and a second saying that no Muslim needs to answer for the Boston marathon bombing.

Schaffner was apparently driven to look for examples of Salon’s hypocrisy after the website’s June 19 piece garishly entitled “Charleston church massacre: The violence white America must answer for.”

In his search he found this headline from 2013 that insisted that Muslims don’t need to apologize for Islamist terror. Salon’s 2013 Tweet read, “Muslims don’t need to apologize for the Tsarnaevs.”

So, because we have a dozen or so murderers like Dylann Roof among whites, all of white America needs to “answer” for Dylann Roof and the other’s murders of perhaps dozens of people, but the millions and millions that have been murdered by Islamists are no reflection at all on Muslims.

This is the self-hatred that all liberals have for America, folks. They hate America far, far more than they hate actual, sworn enemies to western civilization, freedom, and modernity.

This is proof yet again that no liberal deserves to be in a civilized society. They are corrosive, dangerous, and destructive. A liberal is worse than our avowed enemies because they side with avowed enemies. They are the enemy within.Sadly, too many rank and file Democrats follow right along behind these dangerous liberals, just like foolish useful idiots.

It is Now Indisputable That Pope Francis is a Risible Communist

From now on, Pope Francis should be utterly dismissed as an important leader of the world. His latest global warming “encyclical” has proven he subscribes to a risible, anti-western and anti-capitalist theology and is less a Catholic than a communist.

I have been saying that this disastrous pope is a commie since his first few public addresses, but Catholic apologists who can’t get past their fealty to their “god on earth” have always found little outs, ways to dismiss the criticism of their pope by claiming that Francis is really just badly stating longstanding Catholic doctrine.

But with Francis’ new encyclical On Care For Our Common Home, the pope’s latest paean to the religion of global warming leaves no doubt that he stands against western values in most cases.

In this message–which lays out this terrible pope’s absurd ideas on his new religion of global warming–says that we need to stop buying things and turn the world back several thousand years to a time when life was brutal, uncomfortable, and short. He is essentially calling for an end to capitalism in this rambling paper.

Pope Francis goes on to claim that wealthy countries need to stop being wealthy and give away everything to the supposedly poorer nations but he doesn’t spend a second coming to term with why they are poor. He just assumes that rich nations are greedy and evil and must stop being so wealthy. This is quite a communistic theme.

Francis rails about all sorts of things in this jumble of nonsense. In paragraph 55 Francis even rails about the evils of air conditioning, of all things.

Whitfield hit the air Saturday morning after the terrorist attacked police and was then killed for his effort. She was simply awed by the “brave” work of wacko James Boulware who perpetrated the attack and was later taken out by the Dallas police.

For CNN’s Whitfield, Boulware’s fine, fine work as “was very courageous and brave, if not crazy as well, to open fire on the police headquarters.”

Several folks on Twitter were mystified if not outright outraged by the CNN anchor’s decision to define this nutjob as “brave.”

In any case, now we have CNN lining up firmly with cop killers, eh? So, we’ve got that going for us, which is nice.

Spokane NAACP Leader Lied About Her Race on City Job Application, Turns Out She’s White!

The City of Spokane, Washington is now reporting that the local head of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)–who for years has claimed to be a black woman–lied about her race on her application to serve on the citizen police ombudsman commission. She claimed she is black, but now her parents and official records have come forward to show she is actually a white woman.

Rachel Dolezal serves as the chair of the city’s citizen watchdog commission but she is also an adjunct faculty member at Eastern Washington University and president of Spokane’s NAACP local chapter. For years she has told people she’s black.

Now we find she lied about her race on her official application which city officials say is a violation of the city’s ethics codes.

On her application to serve on the commission, she identified herself as African-American. But public records, including Dolezal’s own birth certificate, list her biological parents as Ruthanne and Lawrence Dolezal of Montana. The Dolezals told KXLY Thursday that Rachel is their biological daughter and that they are both white.

“We are committed to independent citizen oversight and take very seriously the concerns raised regarding the chair of the independent citizen police ombudsman commission,” Mayor David Condon and City Council President Ben Stuckart said it a joint statement Thursday. “We are gathering facts to determine if any city policies related to volunteer boards and commissions have been violated. That information will be reviewed by the City Council, which has oversight of city boards and commissions.”

She married a black man and has pretended to be black herself for quite some time.

This is one of my preeminent examples of why there should never, ever be such a thing as a union for a government employee–ANY government employee. A teachers union in Colorado has been caught red handed using tax money to fund a campaign to urge lawmakers to raise taxes.

This is the single best reason to be rid of government employee unions. The fact is, they are entirely un-democratic and blatantly un-American.

The story comes to us form ColoradoPeakPolitics, but it is a tale that could just as easily come from New York, Illinois, or any other state bedeviled with grasping, anti-American public employee unions.

For Some Reason the Media Goes Ga Ga Over Woman Who Wants to Start an Auto Repair Shop

I must admit that I have some mixed emotions about this story of a woman who saw that other women didn’t have their own auto repair shops, so she decided to start one. There are several ways to think about the tale, granted, but none of them seem to rise to the need for a big splashy national news story on her business proposal.

So, the big deal story is offered to us by ABC News. It is the tale of entrepreneur Patrice Banks who claims that she was “dumbfounded” that there weren’t any auto repair shops run by women in her hometown of Philadelphia. So, she has triumphantly announced that she plans to open one of her own.

The news piece makes a big deal out of the fact that a woman wants to open a car repair shop. Once again it’s that whole women-empowering-women theme we are treated to.

But, after reading about her tale I feel nothing but a big dose of “so what?” coming on.

Firstly, we have to realize that this story is premature. After all, Patrice Banks is only saying she is going to open her chick friendly auto repair shop to empower all those women out there hungry for a woman-owned auto repair shop.

Secondly… well, again, SO WHAT?

Obama Cancels July 4th Celebration in Embassy so as Not to Upset Muslims

So now our first Muslim president is canceling our own national celebrations in order not to upset Muslims, so we’ve got that going for us… which is nice. This week we’ve discovered that Obama’s crew staffing the U.S. embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia cancelled its celebration of Independence Day on July 4th so it won’t make Indonesians mad at us.

The celebration of July 4th was moved to June 4th so it wouldn’t upset Muslims celebrating Ramadan this year.

Obama’s ambassador to the majority Islamic nation, Robert O. Blake (Obama appointed in 2013) also said that the month-early Jakarta celebration of our Independence Day was in part meant to celebrate “green technology.” Because, I guess we separated from England so that we could make solar cells… or something.

So, not only does an Obama appointed ambassador move around out own national holidays in an effort to appease Islamists, but he then uses the re-scheduled event to push greenism.

Yep, that sounds like an Obamaite–America hating and all.

‘New York Times’ Attacking Marco Rubio’s Wife for Traffic Tickets

Liberals love to say that family members of their candidates should be “off limits” for attacks in an election. Despite this claim, The New York Times set its sights on Florida Senator and GOP candidate for President Marco Rubio and his wife because they have a few traffic infractions.

In a bizarre Friday expose, the Times breathlessly reported that Marco and his wife have a combined “17 traffic infractions” and said that the Senator and his wife have “shown a tendency to be in a rush on the road.”

In light of the blockbuster book “Clinton Cash,” we have a Democrat presidential candidate who is under suspicion of giving favors to foreign countries–some of them enemies to the USA–in exchange for hundreds of millions in donations to her “charity.” Now, according to the “paper of record,” we have a GOP candidate in Marco Rubio who has a worrisome driving record. Hastert Story is Proof Both the Media and Washington Are Broken

Dennis Hastert once let me eat his dinner on the rubber chicken circuit and that dinner story rates national coverage as much as his scandal story does. The fact is Hastert’s blackmail story doesn’t rate the massive coverage it’s getting in Illinois nor in the rest of the nation. But the coverage it is getting, though, is proof that both the media and Washington are broken.

When news broke last week that former Speaker of the House of Representatives Dennis Hastert was being indicted for making false statements to the FBI and for skirting financial reporting rules, the world stopped in the media and in Washington both.

Take, for instance, a headline today in The Hill that screams, “Hastert Questions Consume Capitol.” This is nearly a week after the news broke.

The Hill piece reveals a fascination with the story that beggars the imagination.

Another Obama Agency Says Conservatives More Dangerous Than Islamic Terrorists

Yet again President Obama and that coterie of anti-American cretins he calls his administration deems conservatives to be more dangerous and worth “watching” than Islamic terrorists. The newest attack on Americans unleashed by Obama is the announcement that the politicized Department of “Justice” is now investigating “far-right” activity on Twitter and other social media.

As The Washington Free Beacon reports, “The Justice Department’s National Institute of Justice (NIJ) awarded Michigan State University $585,719 for the study, which was praised by Eric Holder, the former attorney general, earlier this year.”

“There is currently limited knowledge of the role of technology and computer mediated communications (CMCs), such as Facebook and Twitter, in the dissemination of messages that promote extremist agendas and radicalize individuals to violence,” the NIJ grant reads. “The proposed study will address this gap through a series of qualitative and quantitative analyses of posts from various forms of CMC used by members of both the far-right and Islamic extremist movements.”

On his way out the door, long-time CBS “News” hack Bob Schieffer admitted what we on the right have known for decades, that the “news” media thinks they are the gatekeepers of what we, the people, are allowed to know.

As he ended his 24-year run Schieffer opened up about what he thought of the news biz and what he said is affirming for those who feel the media has been a corrupting force in America for decades.

Schieffer whined that journalism has changed, and in his view not for the better.

“We now don’t know where people get their news. But what we do know is that they’re bombarded with information 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” the retiring anchor said on CBS This Morning. “Most of the information is wrong and some of it, wrong on purpose. It is our job, I think, in mainstream journalism to try to cut through this mall of information and tell people what we think is relevant and what they need to know about.”

Bill Nye the Liar Guy Claims ‘Science Funding’ Is In The US Constitution

Why, didn’t you know, America, that the Founders were so far reaching that they put global warming funding right in the U.S. Constitution? Well, that is what Bill Nye the not-so-sciencey guy is claiming, anyway.

The guy who plays a scientist on TV, but actually has no science degrees at all, told Vox.com that the U.S. Constitution makes provisions to fund science, so being anti-global warming means you hate the founders… or something.

Here is what Bill Nye the actor guy told Vox:

When you have people denying this basic process, and how we all got here, it’s offensive to me intellectually. And I happen to think it’s unpatriotic. Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution says the government shall “promote the progress of science and useful arts.” So if you’re a politician looking to derail the progress of science, I think you’re not doing your job.

I want voters and taxpayers to recognize this. Do you really want to vote for somebody who doesn’t believe in the scientific method — and doesn’t believe that we defeated smallpox? Do you really want that person running your government?

Of course, this is all built on a lie. The U.S. Constitution says no such thing.

After Loud Support, Now Los Angeles Unions Want Exemption from $15 Minimum Wage Law

Once again wallowing in the hypocrisy that is liberalism, the same unions that went to the mat to support the new $15 per hour minimum wage law in Los Angeles are now demanding that the city exempt unionized companies from being forced to pay a minimum wage of $15 per hour.

The city’s union leaders were some of the loudest supporters of the new minimum wage, but now those same leaders are demanding that the L.A. City Council change the rules and exempt their own special interests from being stuck with the new wage.

Once again we see liberals insisting that everyone but them should be affected by a law they pushed.

Their excuse for the about face is that unionized businesses have already negotiated their deals and that they shouldn’t have to change them to observe the new wage law.

School Choice Finally on the Agenda in Illinois

The move for school choice is not only growing in Illinois in general but in Chicago in particular as politicians and parents both see the downward spiral of the public education system picking up speed.

With the costs of public education soaring but neither the rates of graduation nor proficiency growing accordingly, parents are desperate to find a way for their children to gain a better education.

The state is pumping millions upon millions into the bottomless pit of education and taxes are edging higher every year to support the spending habit. As an example, Illinois school district U46 (west of Chicago in the Elgin area) has $600 million in bond debt and this is just one of the nearly 700 school districts in Illinois.

So, as the system founders, many experiments have blossomed. We all know that charter schools have grown rapidly in the Chicago area, but there are other schools such as Leo Catholic High School in Chicago’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood that are serving as perfect examples of school choice. Leo is a prime example of a private high school that is a wildly successful example of education at its finest.

The school is not fully supported financially by the city’s Catholic system but has since 1926 served students as an independent high school operating in what is now one of the city’s most depressed neighborhoods. The school started back when Auburn Gresham was a heavily Irish-Catholic part of the city but now serves an entirely African American student body. (Edit to note: The Archdiocese of Chicago does support Leo and has provided over $2M in direct, financial operating support for the school between 2009 and 2015, but doesn’t pay all the school’s expenses as it does the schools it has direct control over.)

The school has been such a success that for the last six years 100% of its students have been accepted into a college or university and 96 percent have gone on to pursue higher education.

On this Memorial Day, the anti-American cretins at Salon.com have proclaimed our soldiers to be “dangerous” to the nation. Why? Because spending money on our military takes money away from welfare budgets. And they are serious.

Before we even get to the stupidity in this Salon.com article, we should note that spending on the military is one of the few federal expenditures that is actually written right into the U.S. Constitution.

Welfare spending isn’t in the Constitution. Spending on the environment isn’t there. No money is specified for roads, internal improvements, or education. Neither is spending on “disaster aid.” But spending on the military is in there.

In fact, little of the spending that goes on in Washington is actually directly Constitutional. By contrast spending on the military is one of the few things that the founders made sure to provide.

But let’s give these anti-American socialists at Salon their say. Here is their argument for why “The U.S. military is a national security threat.”
