Boehner and GOP Allowed Obama to Add thousands of New Amnesty Workers With That 2015 Budget

-By Warner Todd Huston

This is why I despise government. Every decision made in DC adds thousands of new government placemen at a cost of millions in salary and an ever expanding government. That is what happened when John Boehner did not immediately put a stop to Obama’s amnesty plans in that recently concluded budget negotiations.

One of the things that Barack Obama kicked into high gear with his illicit amnesty announcement was a government employee hiring frenzy. As The New York Times reports, as soon as GOP House Speaker John Boehner allowed Obama’s amnesty plan to keep its funding, 1,000 new federal jobs were opened up at a cost to the taxpayer of $40 million annually in salaries and benefits.

These new employees will be housed in a building in the DC environs (Crystal City, just across the river in Arlington, Virginia) that will cost taxpayers an additional $8 million in rent each year.

With Topinka Gone, How Will Illinois Replace its Comptroller?

-By Warner Todd Huston

With the passing of Illinois State Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka, the state is faced with a bit of a dilemma. How should she be replaced?

After a lifetime of service to the state, Topinka passed away at the age of 70 from the effects of a stroke suffered last week. She was serving her second term as state comptroller to which she was just re-elected this year.

But her passing comes at an inconvenient time for state government as the current governor has only a month to go in his final term and the next governor is from the opposing party.

The New Budget Bill: Still Funds Obamacare, Still Bans Abortion Spending, Still Bans Internet Taxes

-By Warner Todd Huston

The New nine-month budget bill called the CR/Omnibus spending bill is a $1.01 trillion spending bill that is over one thousand pages thick. But it takes care of spending for most of 2015 and one has to wonder why the Republicans pushed a spending bill that will prevent them from affecting spending for most of the entire first year they will be in control?

It is absurd that the GOP didn’t push a continuing resolution that only tides the government over for a few short months because next year the GOP will be in full control of both houses of Congress. Yet, the GOP was not just *sighing* and agreeing with this nine-month spending bill, GOP leadership was pushing it. This is a bill that will cut the GOP out from having any influence on spending for most of their first year they are in control.

Still, many of the hundreds of policy riders–little bits of instruction that affects spending–are good for the conservatives. Of course, some will upset Democrats and some Republicans.

Anyway, here are some of the riders of interest in the new budget bill (in no particular order):

Obamacare Fully Funded

The bill fully funds Obamacare, though it does put a limit to any growth in spending and cuts the budget by $10 million for the “death panel” board called the Independent Payment Advisory Board. It also does not give the IRS any new funding so that the taxing agency can implement the Affordable Care Act.

Clean Water Act

In a victory for farmers, the spending bill will prevent the EPA from taking upon itself the power to regulate farm ponds and ditch water. This is also a victory for Republicans–not to mention the country!

EPA Funding Cut

Speaking of the EPA, its budget was cut by $60 million over last year’s budget. The EPA will get $8.1 billion. This is another decrease. Since 2010 the agency has lost 21 percent of its budget.

No Pot Legalization for Washington DC

The City Council of the District of Columbia will be prohibited from legalizing marijuana and will be forced to hew to the federal ban on pot. On the other hand, federal drug enforcement agencies and law groups will be prevented from interfering in state-based pot industries.

Taxpayer Paid Professor Forces Students to Recite Faux ‘Pledge of Allegiance’ That Mocks USA & Republicans

-By Warner Todd Huston

A taxpayer paid professor in Denver is forcing students to recite a satirical version of the pledge of allegiance that attacks the United States for targeting blacks and women and says that Republicans are homophobic and against “the poor.”

Dr. Charles Angeletti, is a self-proclaimed atheist and socialist professor of American Civilization at the publicly funded Denver university, CampusReform.com reports. This communist “required students recite the satirical Pledge of Allegiance during the fall 2014 semester.”

The fake pledge is as follows:

“I pledge allegiance to and wrap myself in the flag of the United States
Against Anything Un-American and to the Republicans for which it stands,
two nations, under Jesus, rich against poor, with curtailed liberty and
justice for all except blacks, homosexuals, women who want abortions,
Communists, welfare queens, treehuggers, feminazis, illegal immigrants,
children of illegal immigrants, and you if you don’t watch your step.”

The professor distributed this faux pledge to every student and demanded that they recite it in his classroom.

Steven Farr, an MSU freshman majoring in Meteorology, reports that this “teacher’s” class was wall to wall condemnation of the United States and that the “teacher” offered no other view other than anti-Americanism.

Other students have also noted that this “teacher” coddles liberals but viciously attacks anyone who differs with his opinion of hatred for the country.

Firstly, no one who is an avowed communist should even be allowed to teach American civilization. Communism is antithetical to America in every single way, so having a teacher with a personal ideology that hates everything that is American must–not will, not can, not might, must–burden students with a biased view of that history. It is simply impossible for someone to have an ideology built on hate of his subject to teach that subject without negative bias infusing every aspect of his instruction.

Secondly, a class on any sort of civilization–whether it be European, Roman, Western, Eastern, or what have you–should not be a biased class in any direction. It should be a straight recitation of the history of that society. It must be up to students to decide what value to confer on that group and that group’s history.

This professor is not a teacher. He is a hater attempting to force students to accept his outlandish and hate-filled opinions as fact. He is not “teaching” he is attempting to indoctrinate. He should be fired because he is failing to teach and not through mere incompetence, at that. He has set himself up as an enemy of the United States and is trying to cajole students into developing a similar enmity.

The Wide Diversity in the GOP’s 2014 Freshmen Class

-By Warner Todd Huston

A few days ago I noted that an American Indian got elected to the state legislature in Montana as a Republican. But the fact is, the 2014 GOP freshman field was more diverse than ever and many of those candidates won their elections. Minorities took seats as Republicans from coast to coast.

In Montana, G. Bruce Meyers, a member of the Chippewa-Cree Tribe and a Republican, took a seat in the State House and took it away from the Democrats who have held that seat for decades and decades.

But Meyers isn’t alone. A recent New York Times report notes that the GOP took control of 69 of the 99 statehouse chambers (both House and Senates) this year and many of these new and returning Republicans are minorities.

American Indian Wins Montana State Rep. Seat… As a Small Government Republican

-By Warner Todd Huston

He didn’t think he had a chance to beat a Democrat incumbent, but G. Bruce Meyers won a seat in the Montana state legislature anyway surprising many, even himself.

Even more surprising he won his seat running as a Republican in stark contrast to the conventional wisdom that Republicans can neither win in the 32nd District, nor be an American Indian.

Meyers, who grew up on the reservation and is a member of the Chippewa-Cree Tribe, ran against Democratic state Rep. Clarena Brockie of Harlem and beat her by 172 votes. Brockie is a member of the Fort Belknap Indian Community.

Brockie, who only ended up getting one term, beat long-time incumbent, Democrat Tony Belcourt who ended up being accused of embezzlement last year. Belcourt us also a native American.

Now, after years of typical, big government liberals in the 32nd seat, the voters gave a small government Republican the nod.

Even NYT Notes That Voter ID Laws DO NOT ‘Suppress’ Minority Voters

-By Warner Todd Huston

The left is all balled up in knots over the false claim that voter ID laws are meant specifically to “suppress” the vote of minorities and to swing elections to the GOP. This is a lie. And even The New York Times essentially agrees that this is a lie.

Firstly, the point of voter ID laws is not to “suppress” anything other than illegal votes. If a white guy is not properly registered and goes to the polling place without a valid ID, he shouldn’t vote any more than an African American or an Hispanic.

Now, the argument the loony left makes to “prove” that voter ID laws affect only minorities is that, according to these loons, liberal minorities are too stupid to figure out how to get an approved ID so that they can vote and will therefore be denied the right to vote.

They claim that they have “studies” that prove that many states have hundreds of thousands of minorities who lack the proper ID and so are being disenfranchised by voter ID laws.

But now even Nate Cohn from The New York Times proves that this claim is bunkum.

Another Government Making it Harder for Citizens to Get Public Records

-By Warner Todd Huston

Transparency, shmansparency. Once again we see a government doing its level best to keep you, the people, from being able to find out what it is that government is doing to you. This time it is in failing Illinois where lawmakers are trying to make it much, much harder to fulfill a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

Yes, your representatives in the Illinois legislature–Republican and Democrat alike–don’t want you to be able to find out what they are doing in Springfield. Imagine that.

The bill (HB 3796) would make it extremely costly to file for an FOI request allowing the government to charge up to $100 per request and would also give the government even more time to fulfill requests for information.

Ill. Sen. Dave Syverson is an Example of Why the Ill. GOP is a Miserable Failure

-By Warner Todd Huston

Only days after the 2014 election that gave Illinois a new business-minded, tax-cutting Republican as its new Governor, Illinois State Senator and nominal Republican Dave Syverson gave us all a perfect example of why the Illinois GOP is such a crashing failure when he chirped up that he’d love to make the “temporary” state income tax hike permanent, BEFORE the new Governor even gets a chance to take office.

The 2014 midterm elections were a sharp rebuke to a nation of big spending, big government Democrats that have destroyed state budgets, the American healthcare industry, and engorged government in every corner of the nation. This wave election even affected deep blue Illinois as an insurgent first-time Republican candidate beat a thoroughly entrenched Democrat incumbent.

One of the reasons that new Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner beat Democrat Pat Quinn is because Rauner ran on his outsider status, his business acumen, and his promises to cut taxes and get the state back from the brink of collapse. Rauner promised to change the absolute fact that Illinois is the worst state in the country in every single measure of what makes a successful state.

Some State Democrats Abandoning Party, Switching to Republican

-By Warner Todd Huston

Thus far at least four Democrats have already jumped the sinking Democrat ship to become Republicans and in one case it gave the GOP a majority control of a state senate since the 1930s.

The first to jump parties was West Virginia State Senator Daniel Hall. The Wyoming County Senator announced the day after the midterm elections that he was switching his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican because, he said, most of his constituents are Republican and he felt he wasn’t serving their interests as a Democrat.

The WV senate was split 17-17 and Hall’s jump gave the WV GOP control of the state senate for the first time since the 1930s.

Obamacare Voters & Gang of Eight Immigration Senators Saw Big Losses on Tuesday

-By Warner Todd Huston

If you are a US Senator that supported Obamacare and/or one who supported the vaunted “Gang of Eight” senators who were seeking immigration compromise you are preparing for a long retirement back home in most cases because voters threw you out on your ear.

All these Democrats have been sacrificed on the altar of Obama.

First of all, you’ll recall that back in 2013 a group of eight US Senators got together supposedly to buck the gridlock and come to a compromise on immigration. The media loved these guys and hailed them as all that is good about Washington.

Even in Blue Illinois the GOP Wave of 2014 Had an Impact, But The State is STILL A Major Failure

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Republicans bumped up their gains in the Senate and the House of Representatives and also gained in Governor’s mansions across the nation and even deep, deep blue Illinois was affected by this GOP wave. But even with these few bright spots, Illinois is the worst state in the union on every level.

But, yes, last night there were some bright spots. First of all, two Democrats lost their seats in the House of Representatives.

In the 10th District over in Lake County, Robert Dold re-took the seat he lost in 2012 when Democrat Brad Schneider knocked him out. Schneider rode Obama’s coat tails into the House in the big 2012 Democrat sweep.

Dold endured a vicious campaign full of lies launched by Schneider and the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee. The Democrats claimed Dold was a “Tea Party” extremist and a major anti-abortion activist and neither are true.

But the shocker was the 12th District race where State Rep, Mike Bost just slammed Democrat incumbent Bill Enyart by a wide margin. I don’t think anyone had this major upset on their radar here in Illinois. Enyart only got one term and was ushered into office in 2012 along with the 10th District’s Schneider.

But the biggest upset is the race for Governor in the Land of Lincoln.

UNPRECEDENTED: Obama Orders Insurance Industry to Withhold New Prices Until AFTER Midterm Elections

-By Warner Todd Huston

Barack Obama is again playing political games with our health insurance industry and has turned in another underhanded move against it by forcing insurance carriers, brokers and agents to withhold their 2015 prices until after the 2014 midterm elections are over all so that the news of higher prices won’t hurt Democrats on Election Day.

This means that customers looking to get new insurance or those wishing to scout new policies to see if they can get a better deal are not able to shop for insurance.

Before we get into that, though, millions of new cancellations will be hitting on January 1, 2015. Much of this news has gone under the radar as Democrats and their lapdog media are keeping this as quiet as possible.

There is also something different with these cancellations, something that has never happened before in the healthcare insurance industry. Past practice has always been that the next year’s new rates are released 60 days before the first day of the next year. But Obama has mandated that companies hold back on that normal practice so that he can shield Democrats at the polls.

Here is how insurance agent C. Steven Tucker explained it this weekend:

This year, for the first time in 20 years I can not even quote a replacement product because Barack Obama has issued a GAG ORDER to the health insurance industry instructing them not to disclose their January 2015 health insurance rates until after the mid-term elections. This is unprecedented. Normally health insurance premiums are released for public viewing 60 days before the January 1st effective date. Where are the reports on these cancellations and the gag order from NBC, ABC, CBS and CNN? The only news organization that I am aware of that has reported on any of this is the Fox News channel. I can guarantee you one thing, not one of my clients who received a cancellation notice is voting Democrat on Tuesday.

This is once again proof that healthcare is not about health for this most corrupt president in American history. It is politics all the way through for this man.

Your health doesn’t matter to Barack Obama. He cares only about what political benefit he can get from taking over our healthcare industry.

It is also proof that the health of Americans does not interest the news media, either. All they care about is how they can help Democrats.

But this is just a small example of what happens when you allow government to take over an industry like this. It stops being about what ever the industry is supposed to be about and becomes a mere political tool.

Finally, let us point out something else that is glaringly obvious. The GOP is in on this game. After all, you haven’t heard a word about this from any GOP candidate have you? They are clearly running interference for Obama on this by staying silent.

MEDIA BIAS ALERT: Deadspin Pushes False Story Saying Colorado GOP Sen. Candidate Cory Gardner Lied About School Football Career

The left was super, super excited to find out that Deaspin.com discovered that Cory Gardner, the Republican candidate for senate in Colorado, lied about playing football for his high school football team in the 1980s. The left went wild pushing the Deadspin.com story until… well, until the Deadspin story turned out to be false in every way.

Politico Illustrates Story on GOP Racism With Photo of Democrat George Wallace

-By Warner Todd Huston

To illustrate an article about racism in the Republican Party, Politico dipped into American history and oddly dug up a photo of Democrat segregationist George Wallace.

Claiming that “the seeds of America’s dysfunction were planted 50 years ago,” and going on to say that “the ugly politics of race had everything to do with it,” Doug McAdam and Karen Kloos indulged the decades old liberal claim that the political parties have somehow switched places from 50 years ago. Now the GOP is the racist party and the Democrats are the accepting ones, the authors contend.

Despite that George Wallace was an unreconstructed Democrat segregationist and so were his followers, Politico tars the GOP with the racists and Dixiecrats of the 1960s.

Republican Leaders Pushing Wealth Redistribution

-By Warner Todd Huston

Traditionally, Republicans are supposed to be against the redistribution of wealth in the USA. But it seems times may be changing with at least three purportedly conservative leaders in Congress suddenly advocating for at least some income redistribution.

According to Fortune magazine three major congressional Republican leaders are floating plans that call for some sort of redistribution.

Republican Senators Mike Lee and Marco Rubio have recently proposed what they are calling a pro-family and pro-growth tax reform plan that would refigure tax rates from the current seven brackets to only two; 15 and 35 percent.

Wisc. Dem. Candidate for Gov. Plagiarized Her Jobs Plan And Many Other Positions on Her Website

-By Warner Todd Huston

It has been discovered that the Democrat candidate for Governor of Wisconsin plagiarized her entire jobs plan after claiming that jobs and the economy was the centerpiece of her campaign. As the national media ignores the story this is another fine example of “if a conservative did it.” We know that if a Republican had done this the story would be leading every newscast and filling front pages of every newspaper.

Wisconsin Democrat Mary Burke has cavorted across the state claiming that jobs and the economy is the centerpiece of her campaign and has pushed her “jobs plan” as the solution that Wisconsin needs. But now it has been revealed that Burke had little to do with this oh-so-important plan and that her staff wrote the whole thing. But, worse, we find that her staff just plagiarized the plan from other Democrat candidates across the country.

The whole plan is a mishmash of cut-and-paste passages from elsewhere instead of any sort of comprehensive and original work.

Burke has fired the staffer responsible for this, but what is clear is that Burke had no real hand in creating this vaunted plan in the first place and was totally unaware that her staffers were just stealing it all from others.

FDR Invented The ‘Liar-In-Chief’ And Tore Down the Democrat Party And The Country

-By Warner Todd Huston

PBS and documentary maker Ken Burns have done it again with a wonderful look at the political lives of Teddy and Franklin Roosevelt. But if the series did anything it revealed to a discerning viewer how Franklin rebuilt the presidency on a pillar of hate and lies and remade the Democrat Party into a party driven by purposeful misdirection and deceit.

Certainly the series approaches these two consequential presidents as good for the country. Neither were as salubrious for the country as popular opinion holds and both did a lot of damage. To Burns’ credit he does allow conservative commentator George Will to slip in a few digs at how both Teddy and Franklin tore down the presidency and turned our country from a constitutional republic built on a pretty straightforward explication of the political raison d’être of any particular party, candidate or era and into a nation run by sneaky politicians who lie straight-faced to the people and don’t care about the Constitution at all.

Teddy Roosevelt did his bit to end our Constitutional republic, granted, and was followed by Woodrow Wilson who pounded a few more nails into that coffin. But it was Franklin Delano Roosevelt who really destroyed the country.

The truth is, Franklin was an utterly failed president in everything but his leadership in WWII. It has to be acknowledged that his stewardship of the war was great and maybe a lesser president would have left the US more vulnerable. But there is no doubt that he materially hurt this country in every other arena.

His domestic policy was a disaster, his economic policies utterly failed, and his disregard of the rule of law and the US Constitution was a disgusting display of arrogance and hubris. By forcing the world into war, Hitler ended the Great depression, not Franklin Roosevelt.

Ted Cruz Does Right–Walks Out on Mid Eastern Scumbags Claiming to be Christians

-By Warner Todd Huston

Texas Senator Ted Cruz had a bit of a problem yesterday when it became an issue that he had agreed to speak before a so-called Christian group made up of Lebanese and Palestinian Christians. But when he announced his support of Israel before these “Christians” they booed him and he saved his reputation by walking out on them in the middle of his address.

The problem for Cruz was that he agreed to speak before the non-profit group In Defense of Christians. The problem wasn’t that Cruz was speaking before a group that seeks to support Christians in the Middle East, but that he chose to speak before a group of people many of whom support Hamas and Hezbollah and people who oppose Israel… yes, even though they claim to be Christians.

This was a strange move by Cruz, strange that he’d chose to go before this group of terror lovers. But he really saved his own reputation by what he did there.

New Tone: Illinois Democrat Leader Says Republicans Would Hire ISIS Terrorists

-By Warner Todd Huston

Last weekend Illinois GOP candidate for Governor Bruce Rauner took the ALS “ice bucket challenge.” When he did he urged Illinois Democrat leaders to join him in the challenge. In reply, the state’s Democrat House leader outrageously found a way to link the charitable challenge to a claim that Republicans are like the ISIS terrorists in Iraq!

Instead of picking a long-time politician, Republican voters in the Land of Lincoln chose businessman Rauner as their candidate for Governor and he has been quite a different kind of candidate. I suppose he felt that the ALS challenge was a feels good way to lighten politics up a bit in Illinois–a place where calling politics a “blood sport” is an understatement.

Well, to show that even charities aren’t beyond being used for mean spirited political jabs, the office of Democrat House Speaker Michael Madiagn responded to the ALS challenge by claiming that Rauner would like to hire ISIS terrorists for his campaign.

Note the Difference Between Bundy Ranch Protest and Ferguson Riots

-By Warner Todd Huston

A comparison between the Bundy ranch protests from April of this year to what is going on in Ferguson is telling. It is also very, very instructive on just how to stand up for your rights in the era of a thoroughly militarized government.

Early in 2014 a rancher in Nevada named Cliven Bundy became the focus of an anti-government protest when the Bureau of Land Management swooped in with a paramilitary attack on Bundy’s ranch killing his cattle and claiming he was going to be arrested for supposedly refusing to pay a grazing tax, a dispute over which rancher Bundy and the government had been embroiled since 1993.

As the government swooped in with a militarized retinue of shock troops featuring armored vehicles, fully automatic machine guns, body armor, and hundreds of officers, people around the country began to perk up and take notice. Within a matter of days hundreds of American citizens made their way to the Bundy ranch in Nevada to stand up to the overreaction of the federal government.

We Should Not Call Them The ‘Ruling Class,’ But the ‘Immunes’

-by Warner Todd Huston

In the bad old days when Kings reigned and the various classes of royalty vied for position the only danger for the “ruling class” was the fear that another member of their class might strike a blow against them. Unlike the lower classes, the rulers of antiquity were immune from the vagaries of life and out of reach of the law. In fact, there was no law. Unfortunately, we are headed right back in that scheme of life.

But one of the societal schemes that the founders of our country set about the task of destroying was that of the divine right of kings, the idea that royalty is subject to no earthly authority.

The founders wanted to create a society that allowed for social mobility among all citizens. They wanted a meritocracy where people could get ahead from the result of their own work and abilities. Above all they wanted a stable rule of law so that such stability could fuel growth.

For nearly 200 years their model worked admirably. But thanks to the drive toward communism starting at the end of the 1800s it appears that the founders’ societal invention has been destroyed.

The question for today is this: are we are living at the end of the American way of life? Has it been destroyed so badly that it is unable to be returned with the mere election of new leaders?

In ‘Frontera,’ Once Again Hollywood Makes Criminal Illegal a Hero and White Americans the Devil

-By Warner Todd Huston

Isn’t this just like Hollywood. At a time when tens of thousands of illegals, some of whom are gang members, some criminals, and all who are breaking our laws by crashing across our southern border like a tidal wave, Hollywood gives us the tale of an innocent illegal who is framed for murder by minute-men type white men trying to shoot Mexicans down in the desert with sniper rifles because, why, they hate them, of course. Yes, Hollywood gives us a movie where the Mexicans are being put upon and white Americans are the evil bad guys.

Welcome to the theme for the new Ed Harris vehicle, “Frontera.”

Once again Hollywood makes white America the criminal, presents our border security as a crime against humanity, mocks our laws and our sovereignty, and sides with criminal aliens against the rest of us.

We should also point out that in real life these Mexican lawbreakers are not being shot down by white people in the deserts, so the whole premise of this piece of… celluloid… is built on a lie.

Please, America, avoid this movie like the plague. We can’t reward Hollywood for this anti-American crap.

Why Did National GOP Operative Brad Dayspring Favorite a Teen Porn Site on Twitter?

-By Warner Todd Huston

In this electronic age it is hard to understand how any savvy political operative can be so stupid as to get caught in an electronic imbroglio of his own making. Can you imagine a big political operative favoriting a teen porn website on Twitter, for instance? One would think that a big time political hatchet man would not be that stupid. But here we have a case of it anyway with National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) operative Brad Dayspring who did just that very insanely stupid thing.

After the GOP establishment was caught stealing an election in Mississippi for Thad Cochran, people began to fan out in search of ammo to use against establishment stooges like Dayspring. Of course, mud slinging is an old political custom. After all, politics is a blood sport. But when you give your enemies the ammo all by yourself… well, it’s always just so hilariously stupid.

I mean, seriously. How dumb can you be to do something like this?

This Attack on Me Reveals the Dark Hate in the Hearts of All Liberals

Here is my favorite attack on me ever, one that reveals the inhumanity and dark hatred in the hearts of all liberals. The comment below appeared in the comments section of a liberal website called The Raw Story.

The Raw Story posting was talking about one of my articles and this comment appeared in the comments section:

“Huston, with his noxious views and ugly personality, can make even so utterly offensive a person as Elliot Rodger, seem human…◔_◔”

Now, you may recall that Elliot Rodgers, the son of a good Hollywood liberal who is in the movie business, was the scumbag liberal punk and who murdered six people in California because he was upset that when he went to college he wasn’t able to have sex every night.

So, remembering who Elliot Rodgers is, to these liberals me being a conservative who might not be the fun guy at a party is WORSE than a guy who committed mass murder. They hate conservatives and others with whom they disagree on politics SO much that they deem them to be worse than mass murderers.

This is why liberals are evil. ALL OF THEM.

Now Destroying Unions is the Same as Reforming Government

-By Warner Todd Huston

Years ago folks that stood against unions always had that one obstacle of “private” concerns in the way of urging people away from unionism. But today, with most unions being tied directly to government, now fighting unions is an act of beneficial government reform.

Once upon a time, the biggest hurdle for those arguing against unionism was the simple truth–and it was a truth–that unions and businesses were private concerns and if the two entities agreed to co-exist, who was an anti-union activist to say anything against the arrangement?

This is a simple, logical question that always made anti-union activists look like meddling outsiders. And the truth is, no matter how right they were that unionism is a bad idea for everyone, they were meddlers!

But today we have a far different situation for those who stand against unions. Since 1959 when unions were first allowed to organize government workers unions have slowly encroached into nearly every aspect of government causing spending to soar, bloating pensions beyond belief, and destroying the efficiency of government.

Professor Jedediah Purdy Wants You Forced to Follow His Religion

-By Warner Todd Huston

Professor Jedediah Purdy of Duke University Law School feels that you are not thinking right and therefore he wants you forced through “conflict” to accept his religion.

I assure you that this wouldn’t be his interpretation of the under girding of the essay he disgorged at Politico last week, but that is exactly what he is advocating nonetheless because his entire recipe for fixing our political culture is built on a religious-like belief in shadowy crises that he feels are besetting the country.

In fact, even as he pretended to be offering a “fix” for our political gridlock, he offered no proof whatsoever that the problems he thinks we face are based in fact. His entire piece was based on bald-faced assumption, all are forces taken as a given with not a single word to actually prove that his perceptions were real problems, the sort we should engage in “real” conflict to resolve.

Sadly, the essential lie-stiffened backbone upon which he hung the skeleton of his argument is what passes for “deep thought” at our fetid universities these days.

At Last: A Congressman Looking to Disarm All Those Federal Agencies

-By Warner Todd Huston

We already have a military. We already have a foreign service. We already have a national domestic police agency. We’ve had these things for over a hundred years. So, why does every last federal department need its own automatic machine guns and SWAT teams? Well, they don’t and one Congressman is finally speaking out and looking to disarm all these federal agencies that have unnecessary private armies.

Did you know that the Food & Drug Administration has machine guns and a SWAT team? Did you know even the Department of Education has that, too? We already know that the Bureau of Land Management does. So do the IRS, the USDA, and practically every other piddling, unnecessary federal department.

Virginia Betrayal: The Republicans’ False Claim of Party Unity

-By Warner Todd Huston

Yesterday I noted that it is time for conservatives to start planning the demise of the Republican Party and today, in Virginia, we get one more example of why this is a necessary action. We see it in what the GOP establishment did to Dave Brat, the man who beat Eric Cantor in this month’s primary, and it is a perfect example of how the GOP’s claim that party unity is important is simply a flat out lie.

Remember how this always works: When a conservative challenger loses a primary to an establishment Republican the GOP bigwigs run around urging the voters who voted against their establishment candidate to vote for their hack in the general. They say that conservatives must support their hack because of “party unity.”

These party hacks say that after a primary we must now patch up our differences and stand as one to defeat the Democrats and that our ideas will be incorporated with theirs in governance. We have to be one big happy family, they say.
