As Media Worries Over Trump, Hillary Clinton Ignored for Saying All Cops and Judges are Racists

-By Warner Todd Huston

As the media continues to lose its tiny collective, hive mind about every little utterance made by Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton has come out to proclaim that every cop and judge is a racist.

Hillary Clinton went on criminal Al Sharpton’s radio show late last week and insisted that all cops are racist toward black men. She also said that the judicial system is inherently racist and can’t properly judge blacks.

During the conversation, Clinton told Sharpton, “I believe we need to end the era of mass incarceration. If you compare arrest records in, you know, in charging of crimes, in convicting of crimes, in sentencing for crimes, you compare African-America men to white men, it is as unfortunately clear as it could be that there is a bias in favor of white men.”

She goes on to praise Obama’s task force on policing “roadmap for reforms.”

So, Clinton just proclaimed all cops, all judges, all lawyers, the whole judicial system, to be a racist system inherently aligned against black people.

Donald Trump is Jeb Bush’s Fault (Along with the REST Of the GOP Establishment)

-By Warner Todd Huston

Let’s face it, Donald Trump has tapped into a very serious concern that most Americans have and that is illegal immigration. But the fact that he’s become a rising star in this GOP primary race at this time isn’t because he’s so great. It’s because the GOP is so damn bad on the issue. For Trump’s current success, the whole thing is Jeb Bush, John Boehner, and Mitch McConnell’s fault.

First off, let’s be frank. Donald Trump is not a conservative. He is a recent supporter of single payer healthcare, has claimed in the past that he supports blanket amnesty, and has been all over the map on such important topics as guns and abortion. So, please let’s stop pretending he is a conservative. He absolutely has no such track record.

But his denunciation of Obama’s failed–in fact dangerous–immigration policy is exactly what angers and frightens GOP voters along with a fair portion of Democrats.

Likely without doing the requisite research for statistics to prove the matter, Trump innately understands that what we have going on in immigration is a dangerous and wrong headed policy, one that seems to have a twin purpose: to destroy this country and to set up a permanent Democrat majority through creating automatic Democrat voters after a presidential amnesty.

Trump has been absolutely fearless in speaking out against this dangerous policy that is turning America into a third world nation. He has taken the fight straight to Obama on numerous occasions and that is exactly what Republican voters want to see.

Jeb Bush Calls Southerners and the Confederate Flag ‘Racist’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Jeb Bush has now told the entire south that he doesn’t want their vote by claiming that the Confederate flag and all who support it are racist.

Bush made his comments on Monday at a campaign stop in South Carolina.

He told the media in Charleston that he has felt that the flag and those who support it are racist since he took down the flag in Florida in 2001.

“The symbols were racist,” the Republican presidential candidate said during a campaign stop at a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant.

“If you’re trying to lean forward rather than live in the past, you want to eliminate the barriers that create disagreements, and so I did,” he added.

Notice that Bush used the liberal terminology “lean forward” here? Quite telling on how he thinks.

Frightening Poll: Large Number of American Muslims Believe Sharia Better Than US Constitution

-By Warner Todd Huston

A new poll finds that a very large number of American Muslims feel that sharia law is better than US law. And most consider themselves to be a member of the Democrat Party–a party that not surprisingly also has little interest in the US Constitution.

The poll of American Muslims was taken this June for The Center for Security Policy and here are some of the Poll’s findings:

When asked how they define “sharia,” 71 percent essentially see sharia as a guide for all aspects of a Muslim’s life, one more important than the US way of life or US law.

When asked if sharia should replace the Constitution only 43 percent said no and an astounding 33 percent said yes. So, when asked straight on a small majority shied from saying the want the Constitution replaced with sharia.

But American Muslims came closer to how they really feel when they were asked if they thought Muslims in the USA should be judged under US law. Only 30 percent said that US courts should be first and foremost as the place for adjudicating legal matters while 51 percent said that they should be allowed to ignore US law and be free to use their own sharia courts instead.

If You Are A Republican Who is All Balled Up About the Confederate Flag, You are a Traitor

-By Warner Todd Huston

This week the left has gone off on another one of its meaningless tangents in response to something wholly divorced from their newest crusade. This time they are suddenly all upset about the Confederate flag. Why? Because a killer is seen in a photo with one. So, OK, fine. The left has its wild eyed tangents, we all know. But what is most infuriating about this particular crusade is that morons who claim to be Republicans are also joining in with this silliness. Certainly those who have should be branded traitors to the center right coalition.

Now, let’s get a few historical things straight before we get any further into this slapping down of these useful idiots on the right for being so stupid as to allow the left to–once again–control the entire political narrative. The Confederate flag is no longer an effective symbol of racism. The CS flag is not any more a racist symbol than the US or the British flags.

Of course, while it is true that the CS flag is essentially an anti-US government flag, it isn’t an anti-American flag. It is true that it is a flag that opposed the government of the United States but it never was one that opposed the American ideal. It isn’t an anti-American flag because as far as the Confederates were concerned in 1860 they were being more true to the original intent of the American founders than the US government was. In fact, their CS Constitution is in most ways just a copy of the US Constitution.

With their claim to be giving more deference to the founder’s ideals, the civil war’s “rebels” shared a sentiment with the American patriots from the Revolutionary War. Our founders wanted to separate from Britain because they felt that Britain was no longer acting British and had instead become something inimical to Britishness. The founders felt they were being truer to Britishness than were the British back in the mother country. In like style the Confederates felt they were being more American than the federal government and the Yankees.

But it is also absolutely beyond doubt that the CS government’s flags (the Bonnie Blue flag, the proper Stars and Bars–which isn’t the Southern Cross–the Stainless Banner and the Third National flags) were all essentially racist banners because one of the central tenets upon which the CS government was built was the protection of slavery.

There were several other reasons for the war, mind you, but slavery was foremost. You can make that out as a fact because nearly every secession statement by the southern states issued to explain why they were leaving the union mentions slavery multiple times.

Illinois Media Ignoring Rep. Tammy Duckworth’s Corruption and Whistleblower Case

-By Warner Todd Huston

In Illinois we have a complicit, left-wing media establishment that will never write a bad story about Democrats. This deal with 8th District Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth–a candidate for the US Senate, no less–is a perfect example. Duckworth is being accused of punishing two whistleblowers who were trying to uncover Duckworth’s massive mismanagement when she was at the VA and yet the media is practically silent on the story.

Durckworth is now being sued by two whistleblowers who came forward to reveal her complete mismanagement of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs. They are suing because when they tried to bring this info forward, Duckworth retaliated against them and punished them for shining a light on the mismanagement.

Duckworth is currently selling herself as an ideal candidate for the US Senate and will run against the weak spinned Republican Mark Kirk in 2016. One of her claims to fame is her tenure at the Illinois VA where she served as Director Of The Illinois Dept. Of Veterans Affairs between December 15, 2006 and February 6, 2009.

“I Have Been A Very Effective Administrator… I’m Proud Of The Work That I Did At The State Of Illinois Department Of Veteran’s Affairs,” she said on WFLD in April.

‘New York Times’ Attacking Marco Rubio’s Wife for Traffic Tickets

-By Warner Todd Huston

Liberals love to say that family members of their candidates should be “off limits” for attacks in an election. Despite this claim, The New York Times set its sights on Florida Senator and GOP candidate for President Marco Rubio and his wife because they have a few traffic infractions.

In a bizarre Friday expose, the Times breathlessly reported that Marco and his wife have a combined “17 traffic infractions” and said that the Senator and his wife have “shown a tendency to be in a rush on the road.”

In light of the blockbuster book “Clinton Cash,” we have a Democrat presidential candidate who is under suspicion of giving favors to foreign countries–some of them enemies to the USA–in exchange for hundreds of millions in donations to her “charity.” Now, according to the “paper of record,” we have a GOP candidate in Marco Rubio who has a worrisome driving record. Quite a contrast, that.

School Choice Finally on the Agenda in Illinois

-By Warner Todd Huston

The move for school choice is not only growing in Illinois in general but in Chicago in particular as politicians and parents both see the downward spiral of the public education system picking up speed.

With the costs of public education soaring but neither the rates of graduation nor proficiency growing accordingly, parents are desperate to find a way for their children to gain a better education.

The state is pumping millions upon millions into the bottomless pit of education and taxes are edging higher every year to support the spending habit. As an example, Illinois school district U46 (west of Chicago in the Elgin area) has $600 million in bond debt and this is just one of the nearly 700 school districts in Illinois.

So, as the system founders, many experiments have blossomed. We all know that charter schools have grown rapidly in the Chicago area, but there are other schools such as Leo Catholic High School in Chicago’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood that are serving as perfect examples of school choice. Leo is a prime example of a private high school that is a wildly successful example of education at its finest.

The school is not fully supported financially by the city’s Catholic system but has since 1926 served students as an independent high school operating in what is now one of the city’s most depressed neighborhoods. The school started back when Auburn Gresham was a heavily Irish-Catholic part of the city but now serves an entirely African American student body. (Edit to note: The Archdiocese of Chicago does support Leo and has provided over $2M in direct, financial operating support for the school between 2009 and 2015, but doesn’t pay all the school’s expenses as it does the schools it has direct control over.)

The school has been such a success that for the last six years 100% of its students have been accepted into a college or university and 96 percent have gone on to pursue higher education.

Mike Flynn Announces Run for 18th Congressional District to Replace Aaron Schock

-By Warner Todd Huston

I have known Mike Flynn for several years, now, and work with him at Breitbart.com, now he has announced his run to replace the disgraced Aaron Schock in the Illinois 18th Congressional District.

According to The Hill, Flynn launched his campaign from his home town of Quincy, Illinois.

“The political party bosses in Washington and Springfield, and the special interests they represent, wanted a coronation for their hand-picked candidate,” Flynn said in a statement.

“Yet another go-along-to-get-along seat warmer who won’t challenge the status quo.”

Conservative PAC Formed in IL-18 Special: ‘We Have Had Enough of The Political Ruling Class’

NORMAL, IL: Conservatives in Illinois’ 18th congressional district are fighting back the political establishment, and its candidate, Obama Secretary Ray LaHood’s son Darin, by promising to produce a conservative alternative for the GOP primary.

Schock, who resigned on Tuesday, will likely be replaced in congress by the Republican who wins the special election primary, tentatively set for June 8 2015.

“We’re forming an organization of donors, business leaders, and citizens that are concerned that our government is out of control,” said McLean County elected board member Mark Johnson. “Today we filed paperwork with the FEC and begin our fight.”

Johnson will lead The Grassroots Speak PAC, joined by Ken Wilber of Wilber and Associates PC, Chris Gramm of Stivers and Gramm LLC, and Ian Bayne, a talk show host on Bloomington’s Cities 92.9 FM talk station.

“We need a candidate who wants to take on Washington, not be Washington,” said Gramm, who has been active in Republican politics in Bloomington and will work closely with Wilber, who will serve as the informal finance director.

“We need fighters who represent us against the excess of government,” added Bayne. “Our freedom is shrinking, our wages are shrinking, our businesses are shrinking, and our government keeps getting bigger. We have had enough of the political ruling class.” Bayne, who has been hosting the morning program on Limbaugh affiliate Cities 92.9, is also a small business owner in real estate valuations.

Obama’s ‘Mandatory Voting’ Idea is Thoroughly Un-American (Like Everything Else He Wants)

-By Warner Todd Huston

Obama is a totalitarian. So, his idea that it should be mandatory that everyone votes is not a surprising position from a proponent of big government. But it is also a thoroughly un-American idea and one that should be just as thoroughly destroyed in the minds of the American people.

Last week Obama came out endorsing the idea of forcing everyone to vote under penalty of law. He thought it would be a good idea to make everyone go to the polls to avoid being thrown in jail or having their lives, jobs, or bank accounts threatened by his jackbooted, armed government thugs.

Claiming that mandatory voting would be “transformative” Emperor Obama claimed that it would somehow eliminate money in politics if everyone were forced to vote.

First of all, even the left-wing Washington Post notes that little would change if we were all forced to vote. The paper noted that “non-voters are–on average–only a bit more Democratic than voters, and a bit more supportive of liberal policies.” So, the balance wouldn’t really shift much at all.

This means just as much money as ever would be spent to encourage voters to sign onto one candidate or cause of another.

Jeb Bush CANNOT Win the White House, The Base Will NOT Vote for Him

-By Warner Todd Huston

If the Republican Party is stupid enough to hand Jeb Bush the nomination for the 2016 election for president, we will be stuck with another four years of a Democrat in the White House. ANY Democrat in the White House. Jeb can’t win and he’ll lose the entire base of the party if he becomes the nominee. His nomination will also be the last straw for most conservatives.

Bush foolishly imagines that he can overcome his disagreements with the conservative base. And his assumption might seem sensible in light of recent electoral history where the base has always dutifully fallen into line just ahead of the general election even after years of complaints. But I think that Bush misreads the level of dissatisfaction that conservatives have reached.

At a recent appearance in Myrtle Beach, SC, Bush said that he thinks all the carping conservatives are doing about yet another Bush run for the White House will go away once the nomination is had and the general election is nigh.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith Wants ‘Every Black Person in America’ to Vote Republican

-By Warner Todd Huston

ESPN regular Stephen A. Smith has a dream but it isn’t one most public African Americans have these days. Smith says he wishes that for “just one” election every black person in America would vote Republican.

Smith made the comment at the Impact Symposium at Vanderbilt University during a discussion about inequality.

“What I dream is that for one election, just one, every black person in America vote Republican,” he said. “Because from what I’ve read, and I’m open to correction, but from what I’ve read, Barry Goldwater is going against Lyndon B. Johnson. He’s your Republican candidate. He is completely against the Civil Rights Movement. Lyndon B. Johnson was in favor of it. What happens is, he wins office, Barry Goldwater loses office, but there was a senate, a Republican senate, that pushed the votes to the president’s desk. It was the Democrats who were against Civil Rights legislation. So because President Lyndon B. Johnson was a Democrat, black America assumed the Democrats were for it.”

He also added, “Black folks in America are telling one party, ‘We don’t give a damn about you.’ They’re telling the other party ‘You’ve got our vote.’ Therefore, you have labeled yourself ‘disenfranchised’ because one party knows they’ve got you under their thumb. The other party knows they’ll never get you and nobody comes to address your interest.”

Now, notice that Smith isn’t saying that he thinks that blacks should sign onto in every last thing in the GOP agenda. Only that blacks need to pay attention to the GOP so that the two groups can interact and better work together, better understand each other.

Utah Sen. Mike Lee Scolds Conservatives at CPAC 2015: Beware of ‘Unserious’ Candidates

-By Warner Todd Huston

Mike Lee is one of the few consistent conservatives in Congress, but he made a somewhat interesting choice for his subject at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). He scolded the audience against “unserious” Republican candidates.

To tepid applause, Lee warned his audience against the platitudes and talking points of candidates who are just throwing out red meat and urged them to reconsider the candidates in the light of serious policy ideas.

Why is this odd? Well, for one thing that is what many of the participants come for. They want the red meat, the platitudes and catchphrases. One thing that CPACers want is to see how dynamic the speakers can be. In many ways CPAC is a beauty pageant, one where attendees are looking for the candidate that can excite them.

BREAKING: It’s Official, Mitt Romney is Out for 2016 and Endorses… Marco Rubio?

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has finally announced that he is not running for President… again. This is a good thing. Romney is one of the worst choices of the current crop of possible nominees.

Of course, Romney lost one of his big donors just the other day, and he’s lost several others in the last few weeks to Jeb Bush so that was probably the biggest reason that he realized his day is truly passed.

So, what did Romney say in his farewell speech? Well for one thing he sort of endorsed Marco Rubio.

Chris Christie’s Appeal to Centrists is Failing to Catch Fire

-By Warner Todd Huston

It is plain that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie thinks that his path to the White House lies in plying the middle ground between conservatives and moderates and presenting himself as the man who can appeal to all political factions. But, so far at least, it seems he is failing to excite much interest in the idea.

Christie already suffers among conservatives. He is knocked by many on the right side of the political equation for not being conservative enough and Christie understands this criticism all too well. In fact, he felt the need to address this perception during his speech this month at Congressman Steve King’s Freedom Summit in Iowa.

Last weekend the New Jersey Governor told the conservative crowd that he is plenty conservative enough to deserve consideration by even the most conservative voter. Then he laid out his bona fides in an attempt to make his case.

Let’s just say he was received with polite applause but not many minds were changed.

Liar in Chief: Seconds After Obama Pleaded for ‘Bipartisanship’ in SOTU He Attacks GOP

-By Warner Todd Huston

President Obama couldn’t have proved his hypocrisy better at this year’s State of the Union speech than when he called for bipartisanship and reaching across the aisle but only seconds later slammed Republicans as working to take the vote away from people and taunting them with “I won.”

About halfway through his Santa Claus of the Union speech, President Obama once again loosed his tired claim that he is interested in the ideas Republicans have. He once again lied about how he is ready to leave partisan politics behind and is ready to reach across the aisle. This year he had a new catch phrase for it saying several times that we need “a better politics,” one where both parties work together.

But only seconds after he made that call he went on to claim that Republicans are trying to take the vote away from people, and taunted the GOP that “I won” two elections.

Obama’s hypocritical call for “A better politics” was something he described as, “one where we appeal to each other’s basic decency instead of our basest fears.”

Government Workers Should NEVER Be Allowed a Union

-By Warner Todd Huston

What are the best jobs on average in California? Apparently being a government worker. Infuriatingly, government workers live far better, have higher salaries, retire earlier and have better benefits than most in the private sector even though, like leeches, these same government workers live off the taxpayer.

The worst of all worlds for the taxpayer is a government union. Government unions do nothing whatever for the very people paying the bills. They do not improve services, they don’t professionalize workers, and they wildly grow the waste of tax dollars. Worse, government unions give public servants higher salaries, richer benefits, and earlier retirement dates than the taxpayers footing the bills.

Even the patron Saint of the liberal left, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, was adamant that government workers should never be allowed to unionize. FDR thought it was “unthinkable and intolerable” to have a government workers union.

It’s for good reason, too. Government workers do not create the profits that might help enrich benefits. Whenever government unions get raises it simply means that taxpayers have to pay more to make up the difference.

With Topinka Gone, How Will Illinois Replace its Comptroller?

With the passing of Illinois State Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka, the state is faced with a bit of a dilemma. How should she be replaced?

After a lifetime of service to the state, Topinka passed away at the age of 70 from the effects of a stroke suffered last week. She was serving her second term as state comptroller to which she was just re-elected this year.

But her passing comes at an inconvenient time for state government as the current governor has only a month to go in his final term and the next governor is from the opposing party.

15,000 Wisconsin Teachers Tell Union to Get Lost

-By Warner Todd Huston

Unions are having a tough time of it in Wisconsin of late. Since Governor Scott Walker saved the state budget with his new union rules and since he gave workers a choice, Wisconsin’s teachers unions have been in steep decline and this year’s certification vote was further proof that workers don’t want unions.

Under Act 10 in Wisconsin, it is now the law that teachers unions have to be re-certified each year and to be recognized as a bargaining unit the unions must get 51% support from members.

Since Act 10, unions have found that members are very, very unhappy to be part of their organization and thousands of teachers are opting out. This year, nearly 15,000 public employee union members refused to vote for their union, and 25 more unions were decertified by a vote. That is 100 fewer unions than last year even applied for re-certification.

This brings the number of Wisconsin teachers unions to 285 state wide, down from 408 last year.

The Wide Diversity in the GOP’s 2014 Freshmen Class

-By Warner Todd Huston

A few days ago I noted that an American Indian got elected to the state legislature in Montana as a Republican. But the fact is, the 2014 GOP freshman field was more diverse than ever and many of those candidates won their elections. Minorities took seats as Republicans from coast to coast.

In Montana, G. Bruce Meyers, a member of the Chippewa-Cree Tribe and a Republican, took a seat in the State House and took it away from the Democrats who have held that seat for decades and decades.

But Meyers isn’t alone. A recent New York Times report notes that the GOP took control of 69 of the 99 statehouse chambers (both House and Senates) this year and many of these new and returning Republicans are minorities.

American Indian Wins Montana State Rep. Seat… As a Small Government Republican

-By Warner Todd Huston

He didn’t think he had a chance to beat a Democrat incumbent, but G. Bruce Meyers won a seat in the Montana state legislature anyway surprising many, even himself.

Even more surprising he won his seat running as a Republican in stark contrast to the conventional wisdom that Republicans can neither win in the 32nd District, nor be an American Indian.

Meyers, who grew up on the reservation and is a member of the Chippewa-Cree Tribe, ran against Democratic state Rep. Clarena Brockie of Harlem and beat her by 172 votes. Brockie is a member of the Fort Belknap Indian Community.

Brockie, who only ended up getting one term, beat long-time incumbent, Democrat Tony Belcourt who ended up being accused of embezzlement last year. Belcourt us also a native American.

Now, after years of typical, big government liberals in the 32nd seat, the voters gave a small government Republican the nod.

You Built This, Mr. President, Ferguson is all That is Wrong With Democrats

-By Warner Todd Huston

The pointless and illicit rioting in Ferguson, Missouri is a perfect example of all that is wrong with the Democrat Party, the unavoidable end game of that party’s actions, and proof of the illegitimacy of everything Democrats do to win elections.

Democrats win elections by lying to blacks and telling them that they are still living in the 1930s where it concerns race relations in America. The Democrat Party lies to blacks telling them Jim Crow is still in force, that blacks have made no progress, that they are oppressed every day and all their personal failures are the fault of others–namely “those white devils.”

Democrats then promise to give blacks freebies to make amends for the purported conditions under which they are supposed to suffer in order to get their vote.

And it works, too. Blacks vote in the 90 percent range for Democrats.

Dana Perino Wrongly Claims Obama ‘Has The Prosecutorial Discretion’ To Issue His Amnesty

-By Warner Todd Huston

One of the claims that the left is erroneously using to justify Obama’s new amnesty policy is that he has the “prosecutorial discretion” to do what he is doing and on Thursday Fox News’ Dana Perino agreed with the left that Obama does, indeed, have that power.

Perino appeared on the November 20 edition of Fox News’ The Five where she insisted that Obama does have the power to issue his amnesty. But she also noted that it was “strange” that the first major thing that Obama did after the elections was to “poison the well” with his amnesty policy even after he claimed that the midterms meant that voters want Democrats and Republicans to work together.

Perino went on to claim that Obama has neatly boxed in his Republican opponents because they will not be able to quickly settle the constitutional legality of Obama’s order nor will they be able to easily tell five million suddenly legal immigrants that they actually aren’t legal.

Where is Hillary on Obama’s Abuse of Power? The Five Times She Said Presidents Need Limits

-By Warner Todd Huston

Hillary Clinton has been pretty silent over Obama’s amnesty. She has not chastised this president for his abuse of power. But this might seem to be inconsistent with her past comments because there have been at least five times when she said that our presidents need to be reigned in and have their powers limited.

Clinton railed against an overly powerful executive at least five times in the recent past. In 2006, and twice each in 2007 and 2008 Hillary warned that the US needs to restore its system of checks and balances, a system lost to an over active Chief Executive.

In 2006, for instance, Hillary attacked George W. Bush claiming that he was making “the most extraordinary claims of executive power that we’ve seen in the nation’s history.” At that time Hillary praised our constitutional democracy and urged the nation to force Bush to back off and work better with Congress.

Only months later in 2007, Clinton was again railing against the President and saying that if she were elected to the White House she would roll back Bush’s use of Executive Orders. “I think you have to restore the checks and balances and the separation of powers, which means reining in the presidency,” Clinton said to The Boston Globe.

To Aid Obama, Old Media Establishment Took a Pass on Gruber Videos

-By Warner Todd Huston

The man who was trying to shop the Gruber videos to the media was rebuffed by the Old Media Establishment repeatedly because they had no interest in highlighting the fact that Obama and his Obamacare cohorts were lying to the American people about the President’s signature healthcare law.

Howard Kurtz tracked down the man who was trying to get the media to notice the string of videos showing Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber telling audiences that the American voters are “stupid” and saying that the administration lied repeatedly about what was in Obamacare and how it would work all in a desperate attempt to get the President’s take over of our national healthcare system passed into law.

Kurtz tracked down the man, Rich Weinstein, and found a man who doesn’t himself want to become the story. In fact, he wouldn’t even supply Kurtz with a photo of himself.

Jim Webb: The Democrat Who Could Beat Hillary From The Right

-By Warner Todd Huston

Hillary Clinton is likely running for president. This is probably the worst kept secret in politics. But how is she running? That is the big question. Will she run as the far left candidate, to the middle, even toward the right side of the Democrat coalition? What ever side she angles for, there is one candidate, former Virginia Senator Jim Webb, who, if he runs, would surely run to Hilary’s right and he could beat her doing it.

Webb was an unknown quantity when he first ran for the U.S. Senate in Virginia in 2006. In fact, he was so unknown in politics that no one knew which party banner he would pick up for his then rumored run for Senate.

Many thought it was a lock that he’d pick the Republican Party. After all, he was a hawkish member of the Reagan administration serving as the Gipper’s Secretary of the Navy from 1987 to 1988 and before that was Reagan’s Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs from ’84 to ’87. Further he was the author of a book that extolled the martial virtues of the Scots-Irish in the Old Confederacy. Before all that he was a Marine in Vietnam where he earned multiple combat awards.

However, Webb shocked everyone by picking the Democrat Party to represent in his 2006 run for the Senate. It seems fairly obvious he did so more because he saw that as a path to victory than as a strictly ideological choice. After all, the Democrats were resurgent at the time and the Party was advancing all across the country. Only two years later Barack Obama would ride a wave of Democrat success right into the White House.

Ill. Sen. Dave Syverson is an Example of Why the Ill. GOP is a Miserable Failure

-By Warner Todd Huston

Only days after the 2014 election that gave Illinois a new business-minded, tax-cutting Republican as its new Governor, Illinois State Senator and nominal Republican Dave Syverson gave us all a perfect example of why the Illinois GOP is such a crashing failure when he chirped up that he’d love to make the “temporary” state income tax hike permanent, BEFORE the new Governor even gets a chance to take office.

The 2014 midterm elections were a sharp rebuke to a nation of big spending, big government Democrats that have destroyed state budgets, the American healthcare industry, and engorged government in every corner of the nation. This wave election even affected deep blue Illinois as an insurgent first-time Republican candidate beat a thoroughly entrenched Democrat incumbent.
