To Aid Obama, Old Media Establishment Took a Pass on Gruber Videos

-By Warner Todd Huston

The man who was trying to shop the Gruber videos to the media was rebuffed by the Old Media Establishment repeatedly because they had no interest in highlighting the fact that Obama and his Obamacare cohorts were lying to the American people about the President’s signature healthcare law.

Howard Kurtz tracked down the man who was trying to get the media to notice the string of videos showing Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber telling audiences that the American voters are “stupid” and saying that the administration lied repeatedly about what was in Obamacare and how it would work all in a desperate attempt to get the President’s take over of our national healthcare system passed into law.

Kurtz tracked down the man, Rich Weinstein, and found a man who doesn’t himself want to become the story. In fact, he wouldn’t even supply Kurtz with a photo of himself.

The man told Kurtz that after trying to review the writing and video of some other Obama operatives, he eventually settled on Gruber and then spent months searching out videos and writing from the adviser to see what he could find. And the time paid off when he found the “stupid voters” video.

But then he spent many more months trying to get someone, anyone, in the Old Media Establishment to respond to his queries about the video. Not even Fox News responded to him, he said.

“It was so frustrating,” Weinstein said. “I tried really hard to give this to the media. I had this and couldn’t get it to anybody that knows what to do with it.” All he wanted, Weinstein says, was a train ride to D.C. for him and his lawyer, and “I was going to give them everything for nothing, no money, all I wanted was autographed pictures of the people I was working with to hang on my office wall.”

He eventually posted a message about the video on the Volokh Conspiracy, a conservative website frequented by lawyers and those interested in the law, and the conservative group American Commitment picked it up and ran with it.

After a week of conservative media flogging Gruber’s comments and discovering even more of them, the story finally caught hold.

But what this shows is that the mainstream media simply don’t want to report on anything that upsets Obama’s apple cart. This is just another example of the Old Media Establishment covering for Obama and coming way late to a story, dragged there kicking and screaming, by the conservative media.

Once again we see complicity between the Old Media and Obama.
