Let’s Clear Something Up About a ‘Contested’ GOP Convention, Voters DON’T Count and NEVER DID!

-By Warner Todd Huston

There is a lot of valid angst about who will become the nominee for both the Republican and the Democrat Parties this year. We are in a day when the voters are clearly pulling in a multitude of ways and not giving any candidate an overwhelming nod. But there is also a lot of BS about how “the will of the voters” is being thwarted by the party system and much of this is misinformed.

I am not saying that none of this should make you mad. Just get the facts before you get mad. Don’t shy from getting mad, just be informed while you do it!

Let’s just get one fact out of the way at the outset: your vote in a primary is not and never was the only or even the final say on who the party picks for its nominee. The will of the voter does matter in a general election where the nation picks the president, but not as much in a primary when the parties are picking who they will offer up as a candidate for the forthcoming general election. The fact is, primaries are not “the election.”

It is the party that picks the nominee, not the voter. Yes, the votes in the primary are a key guide for the party and yes, if the vote is overwhelming for a particular candidate both parties generally chose that candidate. But, the fact is the parties — any party — can pick who ever the heck they want quite regardless of the vote totals.

After all, that is what a party is for, to control its destiny and policies.

This Sci-Fi Board Proves How the Internet Makes You Stoopid

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Internet can make you stupid and an exchange I had on a science fiction/comic book board is yet more proof of that.

The subject at hand was the effect mutants would have on humanity. I contended that people with mutant powers would end up becoming an oppressive force because their superior abilities would give them unstoppable powers against “normal” people who have no such abilities.

Even if they started out as a minority they’d eventually fight back and their enhanced abilities would not only allow them to win but they would then go on become a major threat to non-powered humans. This, I said, is human nature. Humans with power — even the figurative power of the majority-controlled political establishment that we’ve seen in history — always worked to oppress minorities to some extent and often to the worst extent possible. From royalty, to religious tyrannies, to communism, they all either used the power of the majority, the raw power of might, or a combination of both to oppress the undesirables.

I then used this example to illustrate my point:

Governor Nathan Deal’s Dumbest Claim to Quash Religious Freedom

-By Warner Todd Huston

On Monday Georgia Governor Nathan Deal vetoed a religious liberty bill that would stop state authorities from forcing Christians to participate in gay marriages, but one of the “reasons” Deal said prevented him from signing the bill is fraught with a pretzel logic he can’t possibly believe.

In the Governor’s view, HB 757 was “discriminatory.” Instead of protecting religious freedom, Deal claimed it only served to oppress gays. Worse, he said despite clear examples of such coercion in other states, since it’s never happened in Georgia then the law isn’t needed.

Of course, the law was written to head off the sort of state-sponsored coercion and curtailment of religious liberty seen in other states, not necessarily a law meant to correct what has already happened in the Peach State. The fact it has happened in a number of other states was plenty enough reason to try to prevent it from happening at all in Georgia.

In any case, Deal goes on to note how religious liberty is one of the first principles of the founding of the country. The founders, Deal said, “made it clear that those liberties [religious liberties] were given by God and not by man’s government. Therefore, it was unnecessary to enumerate in statute or constitution what those liberties included.”

He then went on to indulge some truly absurd pretzel logic that is so tortured even he can’t possible believe it…

The ‘Bechdel Test’ Proves How Feckless Liberalism and Radical Feminism Really Are

-By Warner Todd Huston

Conservatives like to scoff at the stuff and nonsense that is modern liberalism and its attack on traditional values and the so-called Bechdel Test is a perfect example of this foolishness of the liberal/feminist milieu. The very fact this “test” is even a thing shows how feckless and silly feminism and liberalism are.

For those blissfully unaware, the Bechdel Test is a way to ascertain if a TV show or movie pays enough fealty to feminism. The “test” measures how often two female characters talk to each other about men — whether it be a potential boy friend, a current boy friend, or a husband, or an object of desire or even a father figure. The purported goal of the test is to ascertain whether the characters are indulging the stereotype of women being fixated on pursuing men or otherwise showing they are somehow subservient to the male of the species.

The test may seem simple enough — are women in the film more worried about the men in the film or are they portrayed as more well rounded characters with a richer, deeper development? But in fact, it is meaningless box checking that ignores context and the actual story of the show.

But more significant is the fact that this whole “test” is based on a joke. No, really… an actual joke.

Happy Easter 2016

As we take the day off to be with our families, we here at Publius Forum wish you and yours a very happy Easter Sunday.

6 “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

Obama Takes Criticism for Doing Wave at Ballgame, Dancing While Brussels Burns

-By Warner Todd Huston

Even as the world is still reeling from the aftermath of the terror attacks in Brussels, Obama has been seen dancing and taking in baseball games like he doesn’t have a care in the world.

Hours after the attacks that killed over 30 people — including some Americans — President Obama gave the outrageous atack a mere 50 seconds of time in a speech otherwise filled with praise for communist Cuba and condemnation for the U.S.

Only an hour or so later, as Obama enjoyed the day’s event planned by his dictatorial communist hosts, the same President who only had 50 seconds of his time to discuss the attacks in Brussels was seen doing the wave at a Cuban baseball park.

Not long afterward the press were treated to scenes of the President doing the tango with a lovely Cuban woman who was not his wife.

Trump Needs to Take Responsibility For His Rhetoric

-By Warner Todd Huston

There is a big argument being waged between Trumpeters who say he is utterly innocent for the violence constantly occurring at his rallies and those who say it is all his fault because of his bellicose rhetoric. The truth is, Ted Cruz is right. It isn’t an either or, it’s a little of both.

To start out, I don’t want to say that the violence being whipped up by your Move-On, George Soros, Occupy-type leftists are justified. Nor is it dismissible. The protests we are seeing over the last month at Trump rallies are not spontaneous bands of local citizens upset about Donald Trump. They are organized, anti-American agitators who are using Trump to foster anarchy.

These people have been around for decades. They are the same people who peopled the failed Occupy Wall Street “movement,” the same type of people who helped organize the 1968 Chicago convention riots, the same who have organized unrest, destruction, race hatred, and attacks all across the country since the anarchist craze started at the turn of the last century. They are all of a piece, all un-American, all hateful of our system and history.

Further, none of this violence would be happening at Trump rallies if they were not organizing ahead of time and making efforts to invade Trump rallies in order to try and foster violence.

And before I go on I should say that the leftists perpetrating violence at these rallies are not to be excused for what they are doing. They are wrong. Their actions–even if expected–are wrong.

However, there is a reason these people aren’t targeting Cruz or Rubio or Kasich or any of the other candidates before them. It is because Trump has invited them with his own bellicose rhetoric.

Ted Cruz Addresses the Northwest Republican Lincoln Day Dinner

-By Warner Todd Huston

I was in attendance at this year’s Northwest Suburban Republican Lincoln Day Dinner in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. We had a nice visit from Texas Senator Ted Cruz.

We hear little bits from these candidates all the time, including in the debates. But it is rare for people to actually hear a candidate’s entire stump speech. This is a perfect example fof the main points that Cruz gives to audiences.

So, if you’ve never heard a Cruz stumper, this is a great example.

A word about the video. I was too far to Ted’s right (no jokes, please) as he spoke from the dais. So, I focused my iPhone at the video screen which was just next to me. So, that is why the colors are a bit washed out. but I WAS in the room for the speech.

Cruz also spoke before the event and here is my report on that: Ted Cruz Suggests Violence at Donald Trump’s Chicago Rally ‘Starts at the Top’.

Illegal Alien Arrested for Serial Murder Spree

-By Warner Todd Huston

Another one of Obama’s “DREAMERS” has been nabbed after a state-wide manhunt. This week the Missouri State Patrol arrested an illegal migrant who was suspected of going on a murder spree after being “accidentally” released by federal immigration officials.

Police apprehended Pablo Antonio Serrano-Vitorino around midnight on Wednesday as he fled authorities in central Missouri nearly 175 miles away from the scene of the murder of four people in Kansas City.

Witnesses told Kansas City police that Serrano-Vitorino, a Mexican national, was seen running from the scene of the crime carrying an AK-47 rifle.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials (ICE) said Serrano-Vitorino had already been deported from the U.S. 12 years ago but had illegally re-entered the U.S. sometime before his fingerprints were flagged in the system last September when police in Overland Park, Kansas arrested him for a traffic violation.

ICE officials, though, apologized saying they “regret the error” for sending a retainer order to the wrong police agency resulting in Serrano-Vitorino’s release back into the public.

From there, police say that Serrano-Vitorino eventually killed four men in a home in Kansas City. During the manhunt, Missouri police came across a fifth victim shot as Serrano-Vitorino attempted to evade police. This fifth murder is also being attributed to the suspect.

Serrano-Vitorino was taken into custody as he tried to hide in a ditch after abandoning his vehicle.

Police have not yet determined a motive for Serrano-Vitorino’s murder spree but the investigation continues.

Marco Rubio’s Arrogance Would Mean the Sundering of the GOP

-By Warner Todd Huston

Marco Rubio has only one path to the White House and it isn’t through the ballot box. In fact, the only way Marco Rubio could become the GOP nominee for president is through the back room deals of a brokered convention initiated among the very establishment hacks that the voters are working overtime to depose from power.

So, whether or not Marco Rubio is a “full throated conservative” — as Rush Limbaugh called him — he is doing his level best to defeat the voters who might otherwise be disposed to accept him as a conservative in the White House.

Lately Rubio has been running around claiming he is now in this race to stop Donald Trump. But that is clearly a lie. If Rubio’s goal was to stop Trump, he’d have dropped out of the race to back Texas Senator Ted Cruz who is thus far the only candidate who has proven he can beat Trump.

Even if only half of Rubio’s voters went to Ted Cruz it would be enough to stop Trump in many of these contests and with enough examples of Cruz beating Trump more voters would flee Trump and line up behind Cruz.

But Rubio doesn’t really want to “stop Trump.” He wants to win the nomination… at any cost, even the destruction of the very part he wants to lead.

John Kasich and His Big Government Education Disconnect

-By Warner Todd Huston

Ohio Governor John Kasich talked about education at the GOP debate in Detroit, but what he said essentially reveals the disconnect between apparent conservative rhetoric and a less conservative love of big government.

Talking about how the schools in Cleveland, one of the largest cities in his home state of Ohio, have been turning around lately due to new policies, the Governor tried to wrench that into federal policy.

Those local policies may be all well and good, but one sentence he unleashed that night revealed a dichotomy between conservative boilerplate and the usual, big government nonsense we see from establishment and Washington Republicans.

“And, frankly, look, if I were president,” Kashich said, “I’d take 104 federal programs, bundle them into four buckets, and send it to the states, because fixing schools rests at the state and the local level, and particularly at the school board level.”

Notice the disconnect? He began talking about those “buckets” of federal money he’d “send to the states” for education. And why would he send all those buckets loaded with tax dollars? Because “fixing schools rests at the state and the local level, and particularly at the school board level.”

So, what is the disconnect?

CPAC 2016: Dennis Prager and Prager University

-By Warner Todd Huston

I have never written anything about Prager University and I have to say I’ve been remiss. So, with conservative talk show host Dennis Prager appearing at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC2016) it is a good time to correct that slight.

Dennis has been around quite a few years and is one of Salem Radio’s biggest stars, but he also founded a Youtube channel called Prager University where you can go to find some of the best arguments for conservatism ever put to video.

These great videos are concise, well reasoned, and short with great production values. But even more importantly, if you are looking for ways to argue against the left you can’t find better intellectual ammunition that that at Prager U.

If you need help understanding conservative principles or just need help on how to formulate your argument when talking to your liberal friends, Prager University is your ticket to the best source for conservative information.

#FreeStacy A Few Words With Stacy McCain at CPAC 2016

-By Warner Todd Huston

Here at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC 2016) I ran across an old friend whom I’ve known since 2001 when I first started doing all this political writing and activism full time. But, maybe I shouldn’t be advertising this because Stacy McCain is one of the first conservatives to be banned from Twitter for Tweeting While Conservative (TWC).

At CPAC I spoke to Stacy who has been a long-time blogger and journalist at places such as the Washington Times and asked him just why he was banned from Twitter. And after all was said and done he just plain didn’t have a clue why out of all the conservative Twittersphere HE was the first one banned.

And I ca’t agree more. Sure he was straightforwardly conservative but there are far, far worse users of the social media platform on the right (and you know who you are). So, why Stacy?

McCain, who had over 90,000 followers when Twitter lowered the boom on his account, was never given an explanation from Twitter and he has no firm idea why he was canned except for the fact that he is a conservative.

So, why is it a Twitter crime to Tweet While Conservative? I’ll bet YOU can guess.

In any case, if you want to tell Twitter about your disgust with its anti-free speech policies, tweet out the hashtag #FreeStacy and tell them.

Finally, I would be remiss not to say that Stacy has a great blog called The Other McCain that I am sure you’ll love.

Scott Walker CPAC 2016: We Have Had Much Success in the States

-By Warner Todd Huston

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, the most anticipated entrant into the 2016 GOP primary, and it’s first victim, was the opening speaker for Wednesday’s Conservative Action Political Conference convention and reminded the audience that the Republican Party is stronger than ever in state houses across the nation.

Walker, who led a Republican revolution in the generally liberal state of Wisconsin, noted that we have more Republican governors than ever before and more GOP-led state legislatures than ever.

If national politics is a mess for the center right, the states are a hotbed of conservatism.

It should be remembered that Wisconsin was one of the nation’s birthplaces of progressivism (California being another) and when Walker took the governorship there it was a shock to liberals in general and Democrat unionists in particular.

Walker was a prohibitive favorite of conservatives across the country and man eagerly awaited his entrant into the 2016 GOP primary election cycle, but his campaign flagged early, had internal trouble, and Walker himself couldn’t seem to get his message to resonate. He was one of the first high profile candidates to end his race for the White House.

I am here at National Harbor, Maryland for CPAC 2016 and will be occasionally sharing updates about the event.

Jude Law is Proof Once Again That Actors Should be Ignored Off the Screen

-By Warner Todd Huston

Actor Jude Law seems to fancy himself some sort of intellectual philanthropist but his trip to the illegal Muslim migrant camp in Calais, France nicknamed “The Jungle” proves once again that actors should be ignored when they are off the screen because they are generally too stupid to be worth anyone’s time.

Actor Law visited “The Jungle” just ahead of its being shut down and demolished. He went there to highlight the “plight” of these illegal migrants and to plead for his own nation of Britain to allow even more of these lawbreaking, rapists and thieves into his country.

Full of faux compassion, Law traipsed around with a coterie of other actors and British celebrities– all of whom were surrounded by a security squad. They filmed some silly special meant to fool Brits into feeling sorry for the migrants but the criminal nature of these people was too much for them to subdue for long because after the cameras stopped rolling these so-called “refugees” turned on Law’s security team and robbed them of their wallets and cell phones.

If it wasn’t so affirming it would be funny — neigh hilarious — that these British do-gooders went to Calais to “help” these illegal migrants only to be attacked and robbed for their troubles.

So, how did Law and his foolish fellows characterize the incident?

Can You Be a Conservative and Also a Trump Voter?

-By Warner Todd Huston

A few weeks ago I wrote a piece saying you can’t be a conscientious conservative and refuse to vote for Donald Trump if he faces Hillary Clinton in a general election. But can you also be such a conservative and vote for Trump in a primary?

Before I go on, here, I have to note that I am not a Trump supporter. Even though I wrote you have to vote Trump if the choice is between him and Hilary in a general election contest, I’d rather see any general election for Trump avoided from the start.

So, the straight answer to the question posited in the headline above is “no.” No you can’t be a committed conservative and vote for Trump in a primary. If you are voting Trump you are one of three types of voter and none of the three can be a committed conservative.

The Myth of Mass Incarceration

I never do this, but I am republishing this whole piece. The stats in it are incredibly important but since WSJ is hidden behind a pay wall, few will get to see this stuff. So, as much for myself as you, the reader, I am reposting this here so that I can reference it later.Just a reminder to anyone coming to this site, this site is not a money maker for me, so I am not making $$ of someone else’s work, here. But this info is just too important to lose behind a pay wall.

The most shocking revelation in Mr. Latzer’s piece is that only 1.2 percent of America’s African American population are incarcerated. This makes the lie that blacks are being “warehoused” in prisons. That makes the lie to the Black Lives Matter movement, too.

Finally, this article makes the lie to the push for “sentencing reform” being pushed by both Barack Obama and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.

The Myth of Mass Incarceration
-By Barry Latzer
Wall Street Journal, Feb. 22, 2016

Violent crime, not drugs, has driven imprisonment. And drug offenses usually are for dealing, not using.

It has become a boogeyman in public discourse: “mass incarceration.” Both left and right, from Hillary Clinton to Rand Paul, agree that it must be ended. But a close examination of the data shows that U.S. imprisonment has been driven largely by violent crime—and thus significantly reducing incarceration may be impossible.

Less than one-half of 1% of the U.S. population is incarcerated, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), so “mass” is a bit of hyperbole. The proportion of African-Americans in prison, 1.2%, is high compared with whites (0.25%), but not in absolute terms.

There’s a lot of historical amnesia about the cause of prison expansion, a mistaken sense that it was all about drugs or race and had very little to do with serious crime. This ignores the facts. Between 1960 and 1990, the rate of violent crime in the U.S. surged by over 350%, according to FBI data, the biggest sustained buildup in the country’s history.

One major reason was that as crime rose the criminal-justice system caved. Prison commitments fell, as did time served per conviction. For every 1,000 arrests for serious crimes in 1970, 170 defendants went to prison, compared with 261 defendants five years earlier. Murderers released in 1960 had served a median 4.3 years, which wasn’t long to begin with. By 1970 that figure had dropped to 3.5 years.

New Bill Set to Give Illegals Voting Rights in New York City

-By Warner Todd Huston

Activists are pushing a new a new bill that would give illegal migrants living in New York City the right to vote in city elections starting in 2017.

According to the New York Post, Bertha Lewis, head of the Black Institute, said the bill is meant to allow all people to vote. “We want to expand the right to vote for everybody, not suppress the vote. What a radical idea,” she said.

The bill would give an estimated 1.3 million illegals in the Big Apple the right to vote for mayor, city comptroller, borough president, and city council members.

Saying, “People want to come out of the shadows,” Lewis insisted the new right would be a logical next step after Mayor de Blasio’s new program of issuing municipal I.D. cards to illegals was enacted.

Politics, Left And Right, Dumbed Down to ‘Fairness’

-By Warner Todd Huston

As the presidential primaries roll out across America it has become clear that the voters are revolting against the establishment — both on the left and the right. Usually we think of the Republicans and Democrats as being polar opposites, but in today’s climate large numbers of voters on both sides are lining up in opposition to the elites for exactly the same reason. Both the left and right are in revolt over “fairness.”

Large numbers of voters, those voting for Trump on the right side of the aisle and those voting for Sanders on the left, are upset that America is no longer fair for everyone. Certainly the definition of fair and the cure for this lack of fairness takes different forms on the left and right, but it is fairness they are both exercised about, nonetheless.

Many center right Americans are worried that the large youth vote jumping on the bandwagon for self-professed socialist Bernie Sanders is a harbinger for a collapse to come and proof that America’s children have become communists. It is also proof that they have rejected the American ethos and tradition. But, while the end product might be much the same, I’d argue that it isn’t true that these Sanders voters are really voting for actual socialism.

In fact, I’d argue that most of them haven’t a clue what socialism even is. If they did they’d realize what a stupid idea it would be to vote for someone so foolish as to imagine socialism is a good idea. 20 years ago Bernie Sanders would have been thought of as a crackpot and would have been utterly dismissed from presidential politics.

‘Chicago Tribune’ Critic Slams America’s Love of Entertaining Super Bowl Ads

-By Warner Todd Huston

A Chicago Tribune TV critic was aghast that Americans often enjoy the commercials during the Super Bowl. Apparently he was upset about all that capitalism going on and mad that Americans don’t rise up and throw their shoes at their TVs in revolt. Corporations are apparently all venal and wasteful, he alleges, and we shouldn’t stand for it.

In his February 5 critique, Trib’s TV scribe Phil Rosenthal got his dander up several days before the Super Bowl as the nation had already begun talking about the commercials everyone was looking forward to seeing. The prospects of capitalism seemed to have put Rosenthal in a foul mood.

The columnist’s first assumption about why we enjoy many of the commercials was one literally no one believes.

“It’s as if the fact that some marketer spent $5 million per half minute — up about 11 percent from $4.5 million last year — to pitch more than 100 million of us in the Super Bowl 50 audience obliges us to actually pay attention,” he wrote.

No one watches Super Bowl commercials imagining they are obligated to do so because they are so expensive to air. No one.

But from this argument so early in his piece, one can begin to note the anti-corporate and anti-capitalist bent of the rest of the article.

50 Years After the ‘Day The Music Died,’ The Boy Finally Met His Father

-By Warner Todd Huston

The boy who was born two months after his famous father died in a tragic plane crash on the “Day The Music Died,” saw his father’s face for the first time fifty years after the fatal day that stole the elder from our world.

How is this, you ask? This all may seem like one of those riddles or some exercises in logic but, no, I assure you it’s quite a true story. And the truth of the matter makes for a fascinating, if unlikely, story.

Jay Perry Richardson was born the same year his father died in a notable plane accident. In fact, Jay was still peacefully floating in the womb when that fatal day in 1959 came to take the life of his vital and well-known father. Young Jay never laughed with his father, never touched his face, never learned to ride a bike by his dad’s side and were it not for the heavily thumbed and faded photographs his family all so cherished, young Jay wouldn’t even know what his father looked like.

Unless… unless he looked in the mirror. Yes, that face he wore, he has been told, is the spitting image of his father’s. The thought likely always warmed young Jay’s heart.

He may not have known his father in person, but Jay was fascinated by his father’s legacy nonetheless. Jay spent these fifty years of his life studying his father, talking to the many admirers who knew him, writing of him, and traveling the country to keep his father’s memory alive. Even emulating what he knew of the man whose hand he never held, a man with whom he was never able to toss around a football, a man who missed being able to beam with pride at the good school grades of a boy he would never know.

Here is How Democrats Are Using Immigrants to Destroy This Country

-By Warner Todd Huston

It is a well worn adage that America is “made up of immigrants.” But the “making” occurred in an era when people moved to the United States in order to become Americans. Democrats, though, have taken that original intent and upended it to create a means to destroy the country instead of growing it. And there is no better example of this than the words of a Mexican immigrant who was asked to remark on the candidacy of Marco Rubio.

Before we get to this immigrant’s statements about the young Florida Senator vying for the GOP nomination for president, we must address this “made up of immigrants” claim. In truth we are not made up of “immigrants,” but of citizens.

Immigrants don’t “make” a country. Citizens do. Yes, immigrants coming here are important to our republic, but immigrants become a nation’s citizens and it is its citizens that make a country work.

Since immigrants become most useful to the country when they do, indeed, become citizens, it is so disheartening to read the statements of Las Vegas resident Maria Herrera, the rather un-American “citizen” interviewed by The Washington Post on January 10.

This woman was asked by the Post what she thinks about Florida Senator Marco Rubio, a man whose family originally hailed from Cuba.

Liberalism Drips From ‘X-files’ Reboot, Slams Fox News and the Second Amendment

-By Warner Todd Huston

On Sunday evening after football the eagerly awaited first installment of the six-part “X-Files” reboot aired on Fox. Unfortunately, the writers let their liberalism interfere with common sense story telling as the first half of the show featured slams n Fox News host Bill O’Reilly and an attack on America’s right to keep and bear arms.

The mini-series begins with the ostensibly conservative host of an internet-based TV show seeking out our intrepid FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson). The character’s name is a not-so-subtle allusion to Bill O’Reilly and the connection is made all the more tangible when O’Reilly is even cited as another crazy, conservative, conspiracy theorist.

The web TV host character is unsubtly named “Tad O’Malley” (Joel McHale) and the first words we hear from him are when Mulder brings his show up on a laptop computer.

Mulder opens his lap top to reveal an appearance of Barack Obama on the Jimmy Kimmel show playing across the screen. The FBI agent switches his screen to the “Tad O’Malley” show and we hear the host saying, “…it comes down to this: It’s the mainstream liberal media lying to you about life, liberty, and your god given right to bear arms.”

Immediately Mulder asks, “Why would I watch this jackass, Scully?”

A Trump Presidency Would Mean a Do-Nothing in the White House and That Ain’t a Bad Thing

-By Warner Todd Huston

I hate to burst your bubble, America, but if Donald Trump were to become president we would not get a president who “blows up the system,” nor would we have a president who “does great things.” What we’d have is a do-nothing for four (or perhaps 8) years. But that may not be a bad thing.

One of the reasons many center right voters have become Trump supporters is because they expect he’ll upset the establishment’s apple cart and destroy their grip on power by “doing things” that will give power back to the people. I put “doing things” in quotes because not a single soul out there knows exactly what “things” he could do in order to achieve the destruction of the establishment.

And therein lies the trouble. Trump hasn’t laid out a realistic plan for anything. He just jumps on stage, rambles on and on spouting catch phrases and buzzwords all while offering no substance whatever. In this way he is exactly like our current failed president. When Obama first campaigned for office he was all full of well turned phrases, buzzwords, and airy claims but offered nothing by way of substance. He simply looked good and people just assumed he’d “do something” to rattle the status quo.

Where Trump differs from Obama is that Obama’s entire history prior to running showed he would be a stiff-necked, unbendable, anti-American in the White House. He was an extremist, socialist-styled, doctrinaire left-winger whose entire life previous to the White House proved he’d do his level best to tear down the U.S.A. But his airy rhetoric fooled millions of idiots who voted for him while ignoring his past.

Muslim Employees at Wisconsin Co. Upset Over Cancellation of Prayer Time

-By Warner Todd Huston

A Wisconsin manufacturing plant made a policy announcement affecting the prayer time for its 53 Muslims employees but the new policy change has employees banding together and claiming they are being “discriminated” against. Imagine if Christians did this…

The Ariens Company, a lawn mower and snowmobile manufacturing company in Brillion, Wisconsin, made a recent change in company policy ending the past practice of its many Muslim employees who often took multiple breaks for Muslim prayers. Whereas in the past employees were able to take breaks whenever they needed to join in prayer, now the company says Muslim employees will get only a lunch break and should indulge their prayers at that time. The company also warned employees if they try to take other times off they will be replaced.

But employees say that the one lunch break does not coincide with the proper time for Muslim prayers.

Lincoln Quote That Can Be Used for Freedom of Religion

-By Warner Todd Huston

On August 24 of 1855, Abe Lincoln made another one of his arguments against slavery. But I’d dare say that the logic of his point works to defeat the left’s efforts to destroy freedom of religion today, too.

By 1855 Illinoisan Abraham Lincoln had firmly joined the anti-slave element of the Whig Party and he was already developing a reputation as an eloquent speaker against the “Peculiar Institution.”

In August he made the argument that having slavery in a nation that is supposed to believe in the freedom and equality of men is a contradiction that makes the belief in equality essentially a lie.

Here is how he once described the dichotomy between a nation that claims to value equality and a nation that supports slavery:

New York Values? With Anthony Weiner, the Cuomos, Client Number 9, and Rampant Corruption, Cruz is RIGHT!

-By Warner Todd Huston

With New Yorkers wringing their hands and crying like babies over Ted Cruz’ “New York values” comment, one has to laugh at the state whose denizens usually prides themselves on being so tough acting like two-year-old whiners. But, despite their stomping of feet, the fact is, Ted Cruz is right. New York values are corrupt, generally un-American and the perfect example of how not to be as an American. Sadly, there is very little good to say about the Empire State.

Yes, we all felt for New York during the attacks on 9/11. Yes, we stood with New York on that terrible day. But let’s face it, that would be about the only time in the last 50 years that the rest of the country had any sympathy for that corrupt den of thieves. Further, the attack on the World Trade Center was not an attack strictly on “New York.” It was an attack on the whole of the country. Remember, they also planned to hit the White House and did hit the Pentagon that same day. If the World Trade Center happened to be in Philly, it would have been Philly they targeted.

The truth is, New York is generally the worst of what the nation has to offer. It’s taxes are too high, it is extremely liberal, it is pro-abortion, anti-Second Amendment, anti-business, it’s politicians stand against American freedoms and liberties, and they are lovers of the nanny state.

Before we get farther into this, let’s dispense with this silly “yeah, but some people there are great” argument. If you are going to employ that line of pap, you are a liberal because only liberals are so broad minded that everything falls through the cracks–especially truth.

Yes, yes, yes, there are “some people” who live in New York who are great. And they are a tiny, meaningless and powerless minority and because they don’t actually control what the majority of the state does they are dismissed (and absolved) from the accusations against their fellows.

You see, you can’t make a moral point unless you talk in generalities. If you didn’t use what is a mean average for something, then nothing is ever “wrong.” After all, something good can be found in just about anything and if you are going to use “something good” as your criteria, then nothing could ever be “bad” or “wrong.” And in that case, you cannot have morals because that “something good” would always over power the moral truth.

Now, that being said, back to “New York Values”: The “values” that prevail in New York–both the city and the state–are mostly horrendous, un-American, un-Constitutional, irreligious, and immoral. In short, New York “values” is a sarcastic remark because New York has no values, at least not any good ones.

Candidate Obama Claimed He’d Skip Vacations as President–If He Lies About Such Small Things…

-By Warner Todd Huston

Without question Barack Obama has proven to be the single biggest liar ever to sit in Washington D.C. But we can’t say we weren’t warned. His Alinskyite training aside, everyone should have realized what a liar he was going to be with his claims that if he were to become president he would take no vacations because the nation needed him so badly. And what has happened since election? Well, thus far he’s spent $70 million of your tax dollars on vacations.

We are reminded of Obama’s vacations lie by the news aggregation site Weasel Zippers which dredged up a video of then Senator Barack Obama promising he’d eschew vacations if he were to be elected president.

In a 2008 interview with The New York Times’ Bob Herbert Obama was rambling about how presidents should “give their life” to the presidency. That led him to make his wild pledge.

“The bargain that any president strikes with is, you give me this office and in turn my, fears, doubts, insecurities, foibles, need for sleep, family life, vacations, leisure is gone,” Obama said posturing. “I am giving myself to you.”

This, of course, was an absolute lie. Obama never had any intention of eschewing vacations once he became President.
