Here is How Democrats Are Using Immigrants to Destroy This Country

-By Warner Todd Huston

It is a well worn adage that America is “made up of immigrants.” But the “making” occurred in an era when people moved to the United States in order to become Americans. Democrats, though, have taken that original intent and upended it to create a means to destroy the country instead of growing it. And there is no better example of this than the words of a Mexican immigrant who was asked to remark on the candidacy of Marco Rubio.

Before we get to this immigrant’s statements about the young Florida Senator vying for the GOP nomination for president, we must address this “made up of immigrants” claim. In truth we are not made up of “immigrants,” but of citizens.

Immigrants don’t “make” a country. Citizens do. Yes, immigrants coming here are important to our republic, but immigrants become a nation’s citizens and it is its citizens that make a country work.

Since immigrants become most useful to the country when they do, indeed, become citizens, it is so disheartening to read the statements of Las Vegas resident Maria Herrera, the rather un-American “citizen” interviewed by The Washington Post on January 10.

This woman was asked by the Post what she thinks about Florida Senator Marco Rubio, a man whose family originally hailed from Cuba.

Herrera seemed to immediately discount the idea of supporting Rubio, not because of what he stood for but because of where his father was born.

By way of explaining why she would not vote for him, Herrera said matter of factly, “He’s Cuban. I’m Mexican.”

Obviously this woman has fully rejected the American ethos. She obviously doesn’t consider herself an American nor does she feel any U.S. resident who came from or is related to someone who came from Cuba is an American. Even though this woman lives in the U.S. and is preparing to vote in a U.S. election she plainly considers herself a Mexican.

Unfortunately, Ms Herrera is all too typical of the sort of immigrants Democrats are eager to import into the country. These are people who don’t care much about the United States. They have no interest in American ideals, the American system, its history or future. They consider their home here to be just the place they happen to be living in even as their hearts and minds are still in the backwater lands they fled on their way here.

These sort of people completely undermine the country. But who can blame them? After all, Democrats have spent the last fifty years telling these very people that the U.S.A. is a venal place, full of racists who hate them. They are told to come here to “get” whatever they can and anyone who denies them all the freebies they can grab is a monster who deserves to be hated. They are told that the U.S.A. isn’t any better than any other country–in fact it is worse. They are told to segregate themselves in enclaves, speak their foreign language, and continue to celebrate their foreign practices. Worse, when their children get to school they, too, are told the U.S. is a terrible place and they should be more proud of their ancestry than their new country.

So, is it any surprise to hear an immigrant considering herself a Mexican instead of an American? And is it any surprise to hear her employing her old racist sentiments brought here from outside the country as a reason to guide her voting habits?

Thanks Democrats. Thanks for destroying the country.
