CNN: Israel Better Deal With Terrorists

-By Warner Todd Huston

CNN has the solution for the Middle Eastern turmoil that has flared anew over the last month or so between the terrorists of Hamas and Israel: Israel should drop that whole “they are terrorists” thing and recognize Hamas as a legitimate government player and negotiate directly with them.

For CNN, Ed Husain says that calling Hamas terrorists is a “nonstarter” in Palestine and other Arab communities. Even residents of “non-Arab Pakistan,” Husain says, “refuse to label Hamas as a ‘terrorist’ organization.”

Husain claims that because the radical Islamists surrounding the State of Israel support terrorism, then everyone else should understand this and simply accept it. Of course, the fallacy here is that accepting something doesn’t make it right. After all, I seem to recall that most Germans, Italians, and even a good number of Frenchmen thought the Third Reich was on the right track, too. We in the allied nations didn’t just accept that premise, did we?

In Final Week Romney Coverage Increasingly Negative, MSNBC Had Zero Favorable Romney Stories

-By Warner Todd Huston

According to the latest study of the last week of the media’s coverage of the 2012 presidential election, Romney’s coverage turned increasingly negative. The worst example was that of MSNBC which didn’t have any positive stories about Romney’s campaign, not a single one.

The study conducted by the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism, showed that MSNBC had zero positive stories about Romney while its Obama coverage skewed 51% positive for the President.

Fox News also increased its negative coverage, for Obama in that case, but its coverage was not nearly so negative against Obama as MSNBC’s was against Romney. The study found that Fox News gave only 5 percent of its coverage to positive Obama stories (with 56 percent negative) while the cable network gave Romney 42 percent positive coverage (with 11 percent negative).

With all news coverage tabulated, Romney’s coverage got more negative in the final week with 33 percent of his coverage skewing negative and only 16 percent positive. In contrast, Obama got 29 percent positive coverage with 19 percent negative.

NYTimes Attacks The Washington Post

-By Warner Todd Huston

Amid turmoil within its own ranks over its new CEO, The New York Times found itself looking from without and scolding the leadership of another major newspaper characterizing that paper’s chief as incompetent and claiming that she had “faltered anew.”

On November 18, NYT media critic David Carr went after Katharine Weymouth, The Washington Post’s publisher, for a meeting announcing a change in her Paper’s executive editor in what was, perhaps, a bit of an ungracious manner.

Weymouth’s meeting was called to announce that Post executive editor Marcus Brauchli was leaving and being replaced by Marty Barton, recently the editor of The Boston Globe.

There has been some intrigue between Brauchli and Weymouth, granted, and Weymouth has been at the center of some aborted attempts to grow her paper. But for the media critic of one paper to attack the leadership of another paper is reminiscent of the old days of newspaper wars, something not seen in modern times.

Mr. Carr thought the change in editors signaled “an inopportune time for The Post to stumble.”

NYTimes Rips Israel for Bombing Gaza Media Offices, Ignores 4 Terror Leaders Inside

-By Warner Todd Huston

The New York Times is full of outrage at the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) for its surgical bomb strikes launched against a few buildings in Gaza that held offices and studios of several international media outlets. But in its report the “paper of record” forgot to add one little fact: four highly placed terrorist leaders that were killed that day were also based in those same buildings.

The Grey Lady reported the bombings mostly from the Palestinian point of view, of course, giving Hamas leaders all the space they wanted to excoriate Israel for replying to a constant wave of rockets indiscriminately launched into its territory with surgical strikes aimed at specific terror assets.

In its November 18 article, The Times reported that Salama Marouf of the Hamas media office called the rocket hits “an immoral massacre against the media.”

The production studios hit were used by such international media outlets as Sky News, Fox News, CBS, the Saudi-owned Al Arabiya Channel, and Germany’s ARD TV as well as the Hamas propaganda machine.

New York Times: Celebrating the End of ‘Rush Limbaugh’s Country’

-By Warner Todd Huston

For his final Campaign Stops editorial November 18, New York Times columnist Thomas B, Edsall asked the seminal question left arising from the results of the re-election of Barack Obama: Is Rush Limbaugh’s Country Gone?

Beginning his piece with a quote from Limbaugh’s show where the most listened-to talker in the nation expressed his fear that “we’ve lost the country” to Obama and his followers, Edsall noted that Limbaugh’s worries “echoed a Republican theme” that was voiced before Obama’s re-election.

Barack Obama has unleashed a coalition of Americans “who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it — that that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them” — as Mitt Romney put it in his notorious commentary on the 47 percent.

Edsall goes on to agree with Limbaugh that our country has drifted decidedly in favor of big government, nanny-state ideals and away from freedom and liberty — though he doesn’t say it that way, to be sure.

NPR Thinks Hostess Closing With 18,000 Jobs Lost is Funny

-By Warner Todd Huston

The news that Hostess Brands is on the verge of shutting down is a major story across the country this week but NPR found humor in the fact that up to 18,000 employees could be losing their jobs.

What was so funny? On its radio show, Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, NPR decided to look down its nose upon the products Hostess makes and, in turn, its customer base.

During its November 17 broadcast, host Peter Sagal introduced a segment on the Hostess story listing the company’s products at the end of which he added “Fudge Puppies, Fat Crammers, and Lard Bursts.”

That wasn’t all the guffawing the hosts indulged. Mo Rocca wondered if Hostess were liquidated it might be “neon-colored,” and Faith Salie introduced Chris Christie to the mix to which Peter Sagal went on to impersonate the New Jersey Governor.

CNN Mad at Low-Voting Obama County, Not Worried Over No-Voting Romney Counties

-By Warner Todd Huston

CNN was gobsmacked over a county in Texas that saw an extremely low voter turnout for Barack Obama in the late elections. On the other hand the several counties in Ohio and Pennsylvania that had zero votes for Mitt Romney didn’t bother the cable Network at all.

On Friday, November 16, CNN aired an “expose” of sorts about the low Obama votes that occurred in King County Texas and took their cameras south to find out why so few voters there wanted to vote for the President.

Naturally, correspondent Gary Tuchman and the CNN crew wanted to find out if everyone in King County were racist. All Mr. Tuchman’s questions were meant to elicit examples of the King County resident’s backwards attitudes and racism.

CNN was simply outraged that only 3.4 percent of King County’s voters thought well enough of Barack Obama to vote for him on Election Day. It was a travesty.

Troubles Grow For Newest New York Times Boss

-By Warner Todd Huston

Troubles are growing for the newest boss of The New York Times over the shocking abuse scandal perpetrated by one of the BBC’s most famous TV personalities, Jimmy Savile. The scandal has rocked the British Isles and cast a dark cloud over the end of former BBC Chief Mark Thompson’s career, the same Mark Thompson that has just become the new head of the NY Times.

The scandal Thompson thought he left behind in England is coming back to haunt him and it’s a case of what did he know and when did he know it.

For his part, Mark Thompson has insisted he knew nothing about the decades-long series of criminal abuse cases committed by BBC TV host Jimmy Savile. The TV personality, who passed away a year ago, is accused of sexually abusing dozens — if not hundreds — of young girls starting back in the 1960s and continuing for decades. Worse, it appears that the British Broadcasting Corporation committed several decades worth of coverups to hide their star’s guilt.

Thompson claims he knew nothing of any of this when he was head of the BBC.

CBS Praises Obama for Hurricane Sandy Visit, Attacked Bush for Katrina Visit

-By Warner Todd Huston

On November 16, CBS News aired a segment full of praise for President Obama’s visit to Staten Island in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. But this positive spin is in stark contrast to the scolding the network gave President Bush when he visited the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005..

In the report on CBS This Morning, correspondent Elaine Quijano favorably included Obama in her report on Sandy storm damage showing the President shaking hands with big smiles all around, pledging government support for the victims, and hugging and meeting with individual storm survivors. Mr. Obama was shown as a sympathetic figure ready to help — quite despite that the business of setting the area aright has gone on for weeks without as much progress as residents have hoped.

But this favorable treatment for Obama stands in stark contrast to the attacks CBS leveled against President Bush when he went to visit storm ravaged areas after 2005’s Hurricane Katrina.

NYTimes Portrays Muslim Brotherhood Member Morsai as Torn About Supporting Islamists Over Israel

-By Warner Todd Huston

In an unbelievable case of not seeing the forest for the trees, The New York Times portrayed Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi as a leader conflicted over his support for the terrorist organization Muslim Brotherhood — a group of which he was once a member — and his duty as Egypt’s President to observe the truce that his country has had for many years with Israel.

Setting up the premise, The Times begins is piece saying, “The escalating conflict in Gaza has confronted President Mohamed Morsi of Egypt with a wrenching test of his commitments — to his fellow Islamists of the militant group Hamas and to Egypt’s landmark peace agreement with Israel.”

The Times claims that Morsi is a man with “divided loyalties” with both sides appearing to be “testing him.”

It is flatly silly to claim that Morsi is attempting to walk any tightrope in this situation. He is a member of the virulently anti-Jew Muslim Brotherhood and has made no bones about the fact that he still subscribes to all that terror organization’s main tenets.

Washington Post Softens Criminal Actions of Dem. Corzine in MF Global Fraud

-By Warner Todd Huston

In its November 15 print version, The Washington Post published a story about the criminal financial malfeasance of former Democrat Governor and MF Global Chief John Corzine. But, the Post seemed to have trouble properly identifying Corzine as a Democrat not to mention that it buried the story deep in the paper.

Corzine was the subject of a report this week issued by the House Financial Services’s oversight subcommittee that, while it stopped short of calling Corzine’s actions outright felonies (the committee is leaving that determination to prosecutors), the report raised deep concerns about the magical disappearance of $1.6 billion in investor’s money.

If Corzine were a Republican, who doesn’t believe that The Washington Post would have made sure that the story of the release of this report would have been front-page news? But, no, this story was buried back on page A18.

CBS and Another Obama is Lincoln Story

-By Warner Todd Huston

Sadly, the debut of Director Steven Spielberg’s epic film about our 16th President is being used by many Old Media outlets as propaganda to push the concept that Barack Obama is in the same league or, worse, is somehow just like Abraham Lincoln. On November 15 it was CBS This Morning’s turn to couple one of our most famous presidents to the current resident of the White House.

On the network morning show recently breaking in as the top rated morning program, CBS This Morning hosts Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell kicked off their Lincoln segment attempting to link Abe Lincoln and Obama by gravely wondering if there was a “lesson for Obama, now in his second term, with Lincoln?”

The pair were interviewing liberal historian Doris Kearns-Goodwin, whose book Team of Rivals was used as source material for Spielberg’s new movie.

In response, Kearns-Goodwin made the facile claim that Obama has done the same thing Lincoln did by filling his cabinet with rivals that he’d beaten for the nomination for president. This of course, is nonsense. While Obama did chose former rival Hillary Clinton as his Secretary of State, the rest of his cabinet were not serious Obama rivals. On the other hand, Lincoln appointed nearly all his most powerful rivals to his cabinet — all of whom were leading party powers of their day.

NBC: Obama is ‘Genial’ Republicans Still Meanies

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Old Media has found its narrative for Obama’s first press conference since March and the first since his re-election and that narrative can be boiled down simply to this: Obama helpfully Reaching Out, Republicans still mean as snakes.

After the presser was through, several Old Media outlets — one being Reuters — set the tone with a positive spin for Obama and a negative one for Republicans. NBC also followed this Old Media template.

In the hours after the presser ended, NBC News filed a series of reports that portrayed Obama in a positive light. One report saw NBC White House correspondent Chuck Todd gushing over the President’s appearance.

“It was a loose, confident, and at times aggressive President Obama….He even extended an olive branch and encouraged growing common ground between the two parties….he was genial and even reflective,” Todd said on Wednesday’s Nightly News.

Naturally, Todd found that the only thing that sullied Obama’s wonderful presser was the “negative comments” by a coterie of Republican Senators that held their own press conference that same day announcing their desire to investigate the disastrous Benghazi incident and confirming their resistance to any thought that UN Ambassador Susan Rice might become our next Secretary of State.

CNN Uses Faked Palestinian ‘Casualty’ Video in Coverage

-By Warner Todd Huston

In its pro-Palestinian coverage of the escalated violence in the Middle East, CNN used faked video footage showing Palestinian “victims” of Israel’s rockets being dragged off the streets.

On his November 15 report, Anderson Cooper hosted a report by CNN correspondent Sara Sidner and during the wind up to her report Cooper played a few video snippets of “victims” being dragged off the streets of the Palestinian held areas.

But one of those “victims” wasn’t a victim at all but was instead a man merely acting injured all for the benefit of western cameras.

Worse, this particular faux victim video is a well-known fake. Breitbart already posted about this “Pallywood” theatrical extravaganza and if we knew about it, how could CNN not have known?

CNN isn’t the only Old Media outlet that falls for fake Palestinian videos. There is, for example, a famous video that caused a contentious court case in France back in 2008. It was a fake video supposedly showing a young Palestinian boy named Muhammad al-Dura being shot at by Israel’s Defense Forces. At first, the video caused international outrage, but in time it was proven to be just Palestinian street theater. No Muhammad al-Dura was ever shot at.

Assoc. Press Delegitimizing Israel’s Capital City

-By Warner Todd Huston

Once again we see the Old Media using subtle rhetoric in an attempt to undermine the legitimacy of Israel, this time it’s the Associated Press playing the trick.

In a November 16 story about Palestinian rockets being launched into Israel’s civilian population, the AP decided to try and cajole readers into feeling that Israel’s capital isn’t really Israel’s legitimate capital.

This is how the AP described Jerusalem: (my bold)

An attack on Israel’s self-declared capital marks a major escalation by Gaza militants, both for its symbolism and its distance from the Palestinian territory. Located roughly 75 kilometers (50 miles) away from the Gaza border, Jerusalem had been thought to be beyond the range of Gaza rocket squads.

What is this “self-declared” business, AP? Are you trying to say that Jerusalem isn’t really or legitimately Israel’s capital? Of course you are.

BBC: Those Terrorists Are as Bad as the Victims

-By Warner Todd Huston

Once again it’s moral equivalence day at the BBC. To celebrate, the BBC took to Twitter to let the world know that it thinks that there is no difference between terrorists and victims.

If you are unaware of what is going on in Israel lately, Hamas and the Palestinians have been launching rockets into the Jewish State killing women and children in a renewed and sustained attack. Today, the Israeli government and her Defense Force (IDF) have at last had enough. The IDF even took to Twitter to warn the Palestinians that retaliation is immanent.

Israel launched a few rockets of her own this week and has made threats that it is considering using ground forces to stop the constant barrage of rockets steaming into its territory, killing innocents.

So, how did the BBC turn this unprovoked attack on Israel by terrorists and a corresponding announcement of defensive action into an exercise in blame-the-victims?

Reuters Celebrates ‘Feisty’ Obama’s Second-Term Agenda

-By Warner Todd Huston

On Wednesday, November 14, President Obama held his first full-scale press conference and despite continuing to speak in generalities, Reuters was somehow impressed by the supposed revelation of his second-term agenda. The President was “feisty” yet “conciliatory,” Reuters claimed.

Reuters was so gratified that Obama gave a “feisty defense” of U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice that it led its piece with that part of the presser. It was Rice who was one of the loudest, early voices claiming that the attacks in Benghazi that killed four Americans was the result of some unknown Youtube video — a claim solidly proven false soon after the attacks occurred.

During the presser, it was mentioned to the President that several Republican Senators vowed that if Obama offered up Rice as a candidate for Secretary of State in the stead of the departing Hillary Clinton, they would work to oppose the pick. Obama’s defense of Ambassador Rice was so strong one would think she might be a delicate flower that needs a strong man to come to her rescue.

Buzz Feed Reporter Reveals Anti-Mormon Bigotry of Press Corps

-By Warner Todd Huston

McKay Coppins of Buzzfeed was one of the reporters in the Romney press pool during his late campaign for president. He is also a Mormon. In a long piece posted on November 14, Coppins reveals the stark anti-Mormon bigotry that his fellow members of the media openly displayed as they followed team Romney around the country.

Coppins’ report offers several interesting bits of information and even makes Mitt out to be the John Kennedy of Mormonism in that, like Kennedy, Mitt’s candidacy brought his religion out from under the shadows of suspicion and into the mainstream.

But the piece begins revealing the stark and totally casual anti-Mormon bigotry of his fellow members of the Old Media establishment.

In his first several paragraphs Coppins reveals that the other reporters following Romney constantly sniggered about his “Mormon underwear” and often made jokes about his religion when in the privacy of the press plane or on their many bus trips.

The jokes from his fellows made Coppins uncomfortable. At one point he noted he “slid down in his seat” and pretended to look at his phone to avoid eye contact with the guffawing media bigots surrounding him.

NBC: Hey That Lincoln Movie Reminds Us of How Great Obama Is

-By Warner Todd Huston

In yet another facile example of the Old Media equating President Obama’s presidency to the greatness of Abraham Lincoln’s, NBC News correspondent Kevin Tibbles used the occasion of the opening of the new Lincoln movie helmed by Director Steven Spielberg to do just that.

On Saturday’s NBC Nightly News, Tibbles reported on the opening of a movie that has widespread Oscar buzz, Spielberg’s Lincoln a project that was more than a decade in the making.

Tibbles goes to the director himself who gives us a line about why he wanted to do a movie about Abe Lincoln, our 16th President.

“Lincoln advocated things that we hold dear today. He advocated that government can be a positive force for the good of all people,” Spielberg said.

Then Kevin Tibbles kicks into high gear his facile equating of Lincoln and Obama.

NY Times Dismissing Palestinian Rocket Attacks on Israel?

-By Warner Todd Huston

In a classic example of the media accepting the terrorist’s ideas that Israel is the bad actor in the Middle East, The New York Times had an interesting way to describe the more than 150 rockets that Palestinians have launched on Israeli civilians over the last week or so. The Times wrote that those attacks were “called rocket attacks” by Israel as if the Israeli’s were simply making unsubstantiated claims about the attacks.

They were “called rocket attacks” New York Times? No, they were rocket attacks, they weren’t just “called” rocket attacks. That these rocket attacks happened is not a claim but a fact.

It was in the third paragraph of its November 15 piece that the Times used the deprecating language saying, “The ferocity of the airstrikes, which Israel called Operation “Pillar of Defense” in response to what Israel called repeated rocket attacks by Gaza-based Palestinian militants, provoked rage in Gaza, where Hamas said…” (My bold for emphasis)

NYTimes: Liberal Megaphones Have Never Existed on TV Until MSNBC

-By Warner Todd Huston

In a sort of schizoid report on MSNBC, The New York Times both admits that the now second place cabler is liberal, yet on the other hand claims that it the first such example in television history. For The Times, Brian Stetler makes the outrageous claim that there’s never been such a liberal “megaphone” on TV before.

“Many progressives (and conservatives),” Stetler writes, “now view the channel as a megaphone for liberal politicians, ideas and attacks against those who disagree. Such a megaphone — clearly marked, always on — has never existed before on television.”

Apparently Mr. Stetler is blissfully unaware about the extreme liberal bent of ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, and CNN!

I call this report a little schizoid because MSNBC and its fans have for years claimed that the station isn’t “liberal” but is just reporting “the facts.” And while Stetler is celebrating the fact that MSNBC is openly liberal, he’s trying to deny that such bias exists in the rest of the Old Media.

Doris Kearns-Goodwin: We Need to Excuse Affairs to Get the ‘Best People in Public Life’

-By Warner Todd Huston

In response to revelations of the extramarital affair that now former CIA Chief David Petraeus admitted to over the weekend, liberal historian Doris Kearns-Goodwin scoffed at the idea of holding highly placed public figures to account for their personal behavior.

On the Sunday, November 11 episode of NBC’s Meet The Press, Kearns-Goodwin made the point that we are too strict with our public officials and because of that we won’t get any more great presidents like Franklin Roosevelt and… Bill Clinton?

“What would we have done if FDR had not been our leader because he had an affair with Lucy Mercer? Think of the productive years that Clinton could have had if Monica Lewinsky hadn’t derailed them. We’ve got to figure out a way that we give a private sphere for our public leaders. We’re not gonna get the best people in public life if we don’t do that.”

Kearns-Goodwin also longed for the day when Americans paid little mind to the private lives of public figures.

Foodstamps Surge to All Time High, Biggest One Month Growth Ever Recorded

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Obama administration has finally released its report on the number of Americans on foodstamps. This report was released nine days past its traditional release date and just coincidentally days after the election. Shockingly, those numbers show that Americans on foodstamps is at an all time high. Worse the report shows the highest one month jump ever.

You may recall that just before the election, the Obama administration announced that Hurricane Sandy was going to delay the release of October’s jobless numbers. Many watchers of politics were suspicious about the possible delay in the release of October’s unemployment figures since the proper release date was to come just before the presidential election. While the unemployment report was ultimately released on schedule and before the election, now we find out about another report, the foostamp report, delayed for nine days after its traditional release date. This report was also supposed to have been released before the election.

This report is devastating, so maybe we now know why it was delayed?

CNN Cries With Obama

-By Warner Todd Huston

CNN was quite taken with the video that Obama’s campaign put out showing the President getting a little weepy after he won his second bid for the White House. The video was “amazing,” even “remarkable” said the CNN hosts who gushed over the President’s tears. But CNN wasn’t quite so taken with GOP House Speaker John Boehner’s tears two years ago.

CNN’s Brianna Keilar was nearly emotional herself over the President’s tears saying, “So, Soledad, a remarkable moment there. And we’re just seeing this now.” CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien then replied, “Wow, ‘No Drama Obama’ gets a little dramatic and emotional.”

The pair went on at some length over the President’s display.

But, as Matt Hadro points out, CNN was not nearly as effusive with its wows when Republican John Boehner got a little teary-eyed after he was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2010.

Multiple Sex Scandals Force New BBC Chief to Resign, A New York Times Connection

-By Warner Todd Huston

It’s been a bad year for Britain’s state owned broadcaster, the BBC. First came revelations that Jimmy Savile, one of the Beeb’s most famous and flamboyant past personalities, had spent decades sexually abusing teen girls, but now the broadcast network’s new director has been forced to resign over a wholly separate story based on an un-sourced and ultimately false claim that a British Lord had similarly abused children years ago.

George Entwistle was the man pegged to take over for retiring BBC chief Mark Thompson who only a short time ago left England for America to become the newest CEO of The New York Times. Now, Entwistle, who was in charge of the BBC for less than two months, has had to resign over a program that falsely accused a former British politician of abusing children back in the 1970s and 80s.

This new scandal just adds to the BBC’s woes. In September the BBC was rocked by an investigation revealing that BBC star Jimmy Savile had committed the sexual abuse of up to 10 women, at least one of which was a 14-year-old at the time. This news shocked the British Isles as Savile was a beloved BBC radio disc jockey, media personality, TV star, and charity fundraiser. His flamboyant exploits had been watched by several generations of Brits until his death in 2011.

New York Times Says it’s OK to Destroy the Life of a Pro-Family Official

-By Warner Todd Huston

There is an intriguing letter in an advice column in The New York Times from last July. Many are wondering if this anonymous letter refers to the newly revealed extra-marital affair indulged by now former CIA Director and General David Petraeus. But a closer look at the advice the Times gives out proves that the so-called “paper of record” can’t even keep its anti-conservative agenda out of simple advice columns.

The letter from an anonymous reader is tantalizing. It sure sounds like someone describing Petraeus’ ill-advised affair.

My wife is having an affair with a government executive. His role is to manage a project whose progress is seen worldwide as a demonstration of American leadership. (This might seem hyperbolic, but it is not an exaggeration.) I have met with him on several occasions, and he has been gracious. (I doubt if he is aware of my knowledge.) I have watched the affair intensify over the last year, and I have also benefited from his generosity. He is engaged in work that I am passionate about and is absolutely the right person for the job. I strongly feel that exposing the affair will create a major distraction that would adversely impact the success of an important effort. My issue: Should I acknowledge this affair and finally force closure? Should I suffer in silence for the next year or two for a project I feel must succeed? Should I be “true to my heart” and walk away from the entire miserable situation and put the episode behind me? NAME WITHHELD

While that is quite an amazing parallel to what we now know about Petraeus, the more telling thing in this columns isn’t what the reader says in the letter. It’s the advice given that is the real shocker.

“Don’t expose the affair in any high-profile way,” The New York Times begins.

Well, that might seem sensible. But wait, there’s more. The Times violates its own advice and reveals that there is a least one reason that someone may want to out an affair and destroy the very important work of such a government official.

Newsweek: Hey, Whities, You’re Old, You’re White And You’re Finished

-By Warner Todd Huston

Your days are done, white man. In its November issue, Newsweek and writer David Frum want you GOP whities to know that you’re old, you’re white, and you’re finished.

Not only does Newsweek want white Republicans to know their salad days are over (and that they are racist, no doubt), but the aging magazine has done so with a cover illustration that portrays Obama wearing the uniform tunic of a Revolutionary War soldier — maybe even with allusions to founding father and first general of the armies George Washington.

You can add this Obama-as-George Washington image to the many other Old Media claims that Obama is somehow just like some of our most revered Presidents. We’ve been told he’s somehow “just like” Lincoln, John Kennedy, and Franklin Roosevelt. Of course, he’s closer to Woodrow Wilson and Jimmy Carter, but, well, you know.

CNBC: We’re Probably Headed to Another Recession… NOW They Tell Us?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Two days after the election, CNBC published a dour report on the economy. Shockingly, CNBC is predicting that the U.S. economy is likely headed for another recession.

CNBC so helpfully tells us that, now that the election is behind us, the light in our economic tunnel could be a “freight train.” Gee, it sure would have been nice to know that before the election, wouldn’t it?

Slowing corporate profits, the remnants of Superstorm Sandy and the ramifications of the “fiscal cliff” in Washington are expected to result in at least two quarters of slow or no growth that could make investing even trickier than it was during the ups and downs of 2012.

But that isn’t all. The bigger problem we are now told, is that the economy never achieved “escape velocity” in order to get past the low growth rate we have been experiencing.

The economy, CNBC says, never got to the point where we’ve had enough growth to withstand the sort of shocks that a Hurricane Sandy or a continued or renewed bad business climate would wreck upon it.

Obama didn’t fix a thing, it turns out.

Chris Matthews: US Like ‘Third World Nation’ On Election Laws

-By Warner Todd Huston

Even though Tuesday’s general election gave Chris Matthews his “tingle” back with the re-election of Barack Obama, the MSNBC yapper was still unsatisfied with the proceedings. In particular, Matthews thought there “should be a law” to prevent the various states from handling their own elections. You know, even though such a “law” is against the Constitution and all.

In a discussion with former Florida Governor Charlie Crist, Matthews showed his exasperation with the early voting laws in the Sunshine State. In fact, Matthews was still all nutty over the 2000 election results that brought George W. Bush to office.

“Shouldn’t we have a law where you can’t change any election law until maybe two or three cycles after you’re out of power? At least then they wouldn’t be changing the rules like they’re doing now in Florida with [former-Florida Secretary of State] Katherine Harris with [former-Florida Gov.] Jeb Bush back then. There was a lot of questions about the 2000 race. And here we are again.”

Naturally RINO Crist, who shunned the Republican Party in order to endorse Barack Obama, was happy to agree with Matthews.

CBS ‘The Good Wife’ Pushes Global Warming, Anti-Tea Party Themes

-By Warner Todd Huston

TV’s The Good Wife, an episodic drama on CBS, wears its left-wing politics on its sleeve and this week’s episode was no exception as a TV courtroom judge was depicted pushing global warming from the bench. This isn’t the first time as the same character has in the past pushed anti-conservative themes.

As the courtroom scenes opened, the character portraying the judge in a sexual harassment case entered spouting global warming tropes. “I hope you’re staying cool today on this unusually hot November day.” He then joked, “I hope you don’t mind me saying: Global warming 1, skeptics 0.”
