The Best Primer for Phil Robertson’s ‘Duck Dynasty’ Controversy

-By Warner Todd Huston

If you are like many folks, you’ll have missed the beginning of the controversy over comments about homosexuality made by Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson and you’ll have heard about it only after everyone started talking about it. So, you may have missed the meat of the matter by listening only to the commentators yammering about what Phil said. But if you want the whole story in one well written piece, check out David J. Theroux’s “Duck Dynasty and the Secular Theocracy” because it’ll give you the whole story from the beginning.

In a two part posting, Theroux, founder and president and CEO of The Independent Institute, did a fantastic job relaying what Robertson said and the reaction it fostered.

In part one Theroux details Robertson’s December interview in GQ magazine where he paraphrased a Bible-based list of sins one of which is the act of homosexuality. Then the author goes on to review the initial reaction to those comments.

‘Duck Dynasty’ Family Looking to Dump A&E!

-By Warner Todd Huston

After being hung out to dry by network executives, Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson is thinking of dumping A&E and looking for another cable network to air his show.

Robertson is reportedly quite unhappy with how network executives handled the whole situation after an interview the Duck Commander gave to GQ magazine erupted in controversy in December.

The Robertson family feels that executives abandoned them when gay advocacy groups began attacking Phil Robertson over his comments about homosexuality and only relented when it became clear that the network would take a financial hit because of executives’ actions.

“A&E messed with the wrong redneck,” a source close to the show told the media. “Phil has agreed to return, but he’s already working on getting out their contracts.”

Shocking the Elites, Bill O’Reilly Shakes Hands With Snoop Dogg, Celebrates Jazz

-By Warner Todd Huston

The cultural elites were shocked during this month’s Kennedy Center Honor awards when out onto the stage walked none other than Fox News star Bill O’Reilly who was asked to honor Jazz great Herbie Hancock. Even more amusing, right there on stage O’Reilly later shook hands with rapper Snoop Dogg.

O’Reilly takes to podium to everyone’s surprise.

When O’Reilly strode out onto the stage to take the podium to honor Hancock, his first words directly and humorously addressed the shock that many in the audience was experiencing.

“I know, I’m surprised too,” he quipped sending the crowd into gales of laughter. Well, everyone but Barack Obama who gave a slight smile but didn’t seem all that amused. I guess Obama’s hate can’t be tamed by mere humor.

‘Denver Post’ Brands ‘Duck Dynasty’s’ Phil Robertson a ‘Hate-Speech Spewer’

-By Warner Todd Huston

In a December 28 Facebook posting advertising its article on the A&E network’s decision to reinstate Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson, the Denver Post called Robertson a “hate-speech spewer.” So much for an unbiased reporting of the news.

To flack its December 28 article titled, “‘Duck Dynasty’ debacle winners and losers,” by television critic, Joanne Ostrow, the Post threw up a blurb on Facebook saying that A&E “welcomed patriarch and hate-speech spewer Phil Robertson” back to the show.

“The feathers are no longer flying,” the Facebook blurb reads. “For now, the “Duck Dynasty” debacle is settled. The network, A&E, has welcomed patriarch and hate-speech spewer Phil Robertson back into the fold. So who were the winners and losers in this sad episode?”

Many of the comments on the Facebook page take the Post to task for its extreme bias.

MSNBC Ridicules Mitt Romney for Having a Black Grandson

-By Warner Todd Huston

Remember, leftists such as those on cable “news” network MSNBC, are more loving and tolerant than you jerky conservatives. So, that is why the talking heads on MSNBC thought it would be fun to ridicule Mitt Romney for having an adopted grandson who is black. Because: tolerance.

On Sunday, December 29, extremist, hate-filled liberal Melissa Harris-Perry tok a few minutes with her panel of ignoramuses to talk about the most recent family photo of Mitt and Ann Romney and all their grandchildren.

There on Mitt’s knee, Harris-Perry informed us, was a little black child and she and her panel exploded in an amazing round of thinly veiled hatred over the adoption.

“Everybody loves a baby picture,” Harris-Perry belched out, “and this was one that really, a lot of people had emotions about this baby picture this year. This is the Romney family. And, of course, there on Governor Romney’s knee is his adopted grandson, who is an African-American, adopted African-American child, Kieran Romney.”

Gay Kid in Louisiana Says ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Made Him Feel ‘Unsafe’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Here is the nonsense that the media creates with its untrue “reporting” of the “news.” A gay teen in Louisiana now claims that because of Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson, he has been made to feel “unsafe” living as a gay person in Louisiana.

This from a “closeted” gay student in West Monroe, Louisiana who wrote an essay saying how unsafe he feels because of what Robertson said about gays.

After an interview with Robertson went viral, the old media establishment went wild calling his comments “hate speech,” and “anti-gay” and ramping up pressure on the A&E cable network to fire him from his reality show. All this unfair reporting filled with lies impacted this student in a negative way–as one might expect.

MSNBC: So Stupid That They Say Sarah Palin’s Christmas Trees Are ‘Un-Christian’

-By Warner Todd Huston

This is what happens when liberals try to use religion to sell their hate for conservatives. They are so unfamiliar with the Bible and Christianity that they end up boloxing the whole thing up. This is what MSNBC did when trying to use the Bible against what the cabler said was Sarah Palin’s “un-Christian” Christmas trees.

During the December 26 broadcast of the lamentable Ed Show on MSNBC, substitute hostette and resident numbskull Joy Reid thought she had a great way to attack Sarah Palin.

For her “Pretenders” segment, Reid showed some video of Palin and family around their Christmas tree and used that as a vehicle to attack. All these Christmas trees, Reid noted, were un-Christian and so, Palin is a hypocrite.

“In ‘Pretenders’ tonight, a merry Palin Christmas. Sarah Palin dropped by Fox & Friends to promote her manifesto on Christmas purity,” Reid blubbered. “She brought a treat better than Christmas cookies–family photos.”

After the video of Palin and her Christmas tree, Reid took to scolding Palin for her hypocrisy.

B-List Actor Calls LA Gov. Jindal ‘Dickbrain’ For Supporting ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star

-By Warner Todd Huston

Gay British actor Alan Cumming, was not very happy with Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal for coming to the support of Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson. In fact, Cumming called Jindal a “dickbrain” for coming to Robertson’s support.

Cumming, who starred in such massive, important cinematic hits as Spy Kids and Smurfs 2 and is now a bit player in the TV show The Good Wife, also noted that he wants to institute a “socialist utopia” in the USA.

The homosexual British actor made these comments on his Twitter feed after he belatedly found out that Bobby Jindal came to Robertson’s support.

On his Twitter account, Cumming noted that Jindal said that the “left may control Hollywood, but not the hearts and minds of a majority of Americans.” Then the actor added, “Yet US voted left. Twice.” The actor added the hashtag “#dickbrain.”

MSNBC: ‘Duck Dynasty’s’ Robertsons Are ‘White Supremacists’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Ever the wild-eyed, anti-American, leftist ranters, MSNBC is now saying that the Robertson family of TV’s Duck Dynasty are little else but part of that sheet-wearing, white supremacist culture.

Today, of course, we found out that A&E has relented and reinstated Phil Robertson to his Duck Dynasty TV show, but earlier in the day MSNBC’s Michael Eric Dyson said that the Robertson family is just “part of a majority white supremacist culture.”

What isn’t “racism” to these people?

So, I suppose the Bible is just a racist screed, now? After all, that is what Phil Robertson was paraphrasing with his comments to GQ. If so, Michael Eric Dyson, why do so many African Americans believe in the Bible and go to churches that base their teaching on that ancient book?

Anyway, here is what Dyson said…

A&E Backs Down, Cancels Phil Robertson’s ‘Duck Dynasty’ Suspension

-By Warner Todd Huston

The A&E network has suddenly reversed its widely panned decision to “indefinitely suspend” Duck Dynasty family patriarch Phil Robertson and has announced that Robertson is now back on the show.

A&E must have thought it could quietly announce that it had reversed its decision to suspend Phil Robertson by making an announcement late on Friday.

Following Obama’s well known practice of dumping government documents into public view late on Friday after most DC reporters have left for the weekend, A&E made its announcement late on Friday hoping no one would notice. But it’s no dice. The whole world has heard the news making it look like A&E is one of the biggest fools in the entertainment industry.

A&E was slammed by millions of Duck Dynasty fans for its knee-jerk, PC decision to suspend Robertson for his Biblically-based comments on homosexuality. Responding to left-wing complaints over what Robertson said to GQ magazine, the network quickly dumped Poppa Phil from his show.

Showing Them How! ‘Duck Dynasty’ Christmas Album Could Win a Grammy Award

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Robertson family of TV’s Duck Dynasty are the folks liberals hate the most, but the rest of America (you know, real America) love the Robertson clan. The Robertsons are so loved that their Christmas Album is soaring through the charts and is on track to possibly winning a Grammy Award! That’ll show ’em!

According to Billboard, the Robertsons’ Christmas album Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas is ranked 6th over all on the best-selling charts for December. And on the country chart, only Garth Books tops the Louisiana clan’s album.

The Duck Dynasty folks are ranking right up there with some of the biggest names in music today. Only Beyonce, Garth Brooks, Kelly Clarkson, R. Kelly, and One Direction have albums with higher sales that the Robertsons.

‘Duck Dynasty’ Stars Risking $500 Million Empire if Show Ends

-By Warner Todd Huston

Bloomberg is reporting that the Duck Dynasty empire amounts to some $500 million and if the show doesn’t come back on the air this could all be at risk of disappearing. But, is the money really a concern to the Robertsons? It sure doesn’t seem so.

Regardless, for Bloomberg, its all about the money. The December 23 article does a good job detailing where all the money is coming from in the Duck Dynasty franchise, but family patriarch Phil Robertson, Bloomberg says, put it all at risk with his comments about homosexuality made in an interview with GQ magazine.

Naturally, like nearly every other left leaning media outlet, Bloomberg mischaracterizes Robertson’s comments. As Bloomberg explains it, Robertson got in trouble for, “telling GQ magazine that homosexuals were akin to adulterers, the greedy, drunkards and swindlers and would not ‘inherit the kingdom of God.'”

Phil Robertson has finally spoken out about the controversy that has rocked his reality TV show family after GQ magazine quoted him on his feelings about the “sin” of homosexuality. Robertson says he is a “lover of humanity,” but is still not backing off from his comments at all.

The Daily Mail reported on December 22 that Robertson was defiant toward his critics over what he said to the fashion magazine.

“I will not give or back off from my path,” Robertson said.

But, Robertson wanted to point out that he wasn’t saying he hated gays. “I love all men and women. I am a lover of humanity, not a hater,” he said.

‘Duck Dynasty’ Family: A&E Hung Us Out to Dry!

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Robertson family of TV reality show Duck Dynasty thinks that the A&E network purposefully embarrassed them and that they were “hung out to dry” by network executives.

The family has come to believe that network execs are using the current controversy as a method to force the family to say and do what the network wants them to, a source close to the family tells the Daily Mail newspaper.

According to those close to the family, the Robertsons believe that network brass should also have squelched the interview if they had thought it was so offensive. After all, it is clear that network execs knew full well what Phil Robertson said to GQ magazine about homosexuality. And this is not to mention the fact that Phil Robertson has said similar things since A&E put them on the air.

RACIST! NAACP Race-Pushers Next Group to Attack ‘Duck Dynasty’s’ Phil Robertson

-By Warner Todd Huston

Phil Robertson of TV’s Duck Dynasty is a racist! So says the race-pushing group the NCAAP. The long-time race group is only the latest extremist, left-wing organization to come out and condemn the patriarch of the TV reality show clan.

The NAACP teamed up with Human Rights Campaign and issued a letter that essentially lied right in its very first paragraph saying that Robertson said that blacks were “happier under Jim Crow laws” and equated “being gay with bestiality and promiscuity.” The FACT is he did no such thing. (Download a .pdf of the NCAAP letter HERE)

Firstly, Robertson did say that in his experience blacks in pre-civil rights Louisiana whom he knew were happy. As “white trash” he said he worked side-by-side in the fields with them. But he did not also say that African Americans were happier under Jim Crow laws. This is a fiction–meaning they LIED, to you in Rio Linda–and these racebaiters made it up out of whole cloth.

‘Duck Dynasty’ Family Announcing They Will Likely Quit A&E Network

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Duck Dynasty controversy continues to roll onward. In a new statement today, it appears that the Robertson family is edging toward quitting the A&E network and putting a halt to their Duck Dynasty TV show.

As we predicted on the day the controversy over clan leader Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ magazine about gays hit the news, the family is looking like they will probably quit the network that introduced them to the country.

Not to toot my own horn, but I immediately said that the family would probably quit the show in solidarity with Phil.

Now it seems this may happen. Today the family released a statement on the whole issue and while they didn’t yet say they are quitting the show, it sure looks like that is the next step.

SUSPENDED: Gay Group Attacks Duck Dynasty Star, But Ignored Hate-Filled Alec Baldwin

-By Warner Todd Huston

Gay groups don’t care about gay slurs. They care about liberalism. So, when a liberal utters a gay slur it is brushed off as unimportant. But if a conservative seems to say something bad about gays, why, it is the end of the world. That is the case here with the recent condemnation that the gay group GLAAD doled out to Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson.

The gay group GLAAD came out to excoriate Phil Robertson of A&E’s reality TV hit Duck Dynasty for his comments about gays in a hostile interview in the upcoming issue of GQ magazine.

As soon as the interview became public knowledge, GLAAD ran to Entertainment Weekly which posted the complaint in a piece with the lie-filled title, “‘Duck Dynasty’ star makes anti-gay comments; GLAAD slams.”

In the interview Robertson laid out the typical, Christian, Bible-based ideas about homosexuality and in fact just paraphrased Corinthians in his comments that homosexuality is wrong but that he still loves gays as human beings.

Before we get to GLAAD’s complaint, here is what Robertson said in the GQ interview:

Yikes! CNBC Has to Apologize for Using Bumper Music With N-Word in it!

-By Warner Todd Huston

Financial network CNBC was forced to apologize on December 16 for picking bumper music that blared out the N-word as a show hosted by Kelly Evans went to commercial.

The song, Fizzo Got Flow by the now disbanded rap group B2K, has lyrics that are neither safe for work, nor safe for a supposed news network! The song is filled with “niggas,” and “hoes,” and all manner of off color phrases and those wonderful phrases were right there on CNBC for everyone to, uh, enjoy.

Not long after the commercial break, host Evans was effusive with apologies for playing the song “and for any offense that it may have caused.”

One wonders when CNBC is going to launch its “Bling” show?

Did Duck Dynasty Stars Snub Barbara Walters 2013 Most Fascinating Special?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Rhil and Jase Robertson.

The Internet was abuzz recently with rumors that two members of the Duck Dynasty clan had snubbed Barbara Walters refusing to fly to New York to be on her 2013 Most Fascinating People show. According to the pair they would rather go duck hunting.

After news got out that A&E network reality show stars Phil and Jase Robertson declined Walters’ invitation to go to New York to be on the year-ender show, people began buzzing that the family was dissing Walters. But apparently it was not quite the “snub” that many assume.

It turns out that the pair just didn’t want to miss duck hunting season.

The family told The Blaze that no disrespect was intended toward Walters. But duck hunting is “their thing” if you will. After all, the show IS named after ducks!

“They simply didn’t want to miss three days of hunting to do everything we had planned,” Alan Robertson told TheBlaze. “As a family, we were very honored to be recognized on the [Walters] list and there was no disrespect intended by us.”

Oprah Says You Racists Have to Die For Country to Love Obama

-By Warner Todd Huston

In a recent interview Oprah Winfrey said that the only reason someone wouldn’t like President Obama is because they are racists and then said that to fix the country all you white, racists will just have to die.

Winfrey was exhaling her hot air with the British Broadcasting Corp. (BBC) where she was on a trip to hawk her a-historial film The Butler.

The nearly 60-year-old former hit talk show host proved once again that she doesn’t know what the word “racist” means and, like all religionist Obama supporters, claimed that race is the only possible reason why people would be against the worst, most anti-American, anti-Israel, anti-Constitution, pro-communist president in American history.

Oprah was asked if people were against Obama because of the color of his skin, Oprah said, “There’s no question.”

“I think there’s a level of disrespect for the office that occurs. And that occurs in some cases … because he’s African American. There’s no question about that. And it’s the kind of thing no one ever says, but everybody’s thinking,” she bleated.

No one says? Has she not paid attention to MSNBC and the race hustlers like Al $harpton and Je$$e Jack$on? Has she not heard one celebutard after another say day in and day out that the only reason people oppose Obama is because they are evil, white racists??

Her blather continued. “As long as people can be judged by the color of their skin, problem’s not solved,” she said.

“There are still generations of people, older people, who were born and bred and marinated in it, in that prejudice and racism, and they just have to die.”

See that, whities? You’ll all just have to die.

It is interesting that Winfrey still acts as if the whole of the USA is “marinated” in racism. After all, she grew up mostly in the post Jim Crow era. Oprah had every educational opportunity, she became a figure much beloved as much by whites as by blacks, and became a multi-billionaire who attained the sort of fame that anyone would love to have. Where is all the “racism” that kept Oprah Winfrey down?

But the biggest point here is that contrary to the racebaiting industry in the United States, “racism” is not solely defined as whites hating blacks. Racism knows no boundaries.

Racism is a human condition and is exemplified in Japanese people looking down on other Asians. It is exemplified by dark-skinned blacks hating light-skinned blacks–and vice versa. It is seen in the hate Greeks have for non-Greeks, or the hate some have for Hispanics, or the hate American Indians have for white people, or the hate… well, you get the point. The fact is, racism exists in every corner of the world and has since man developed language and social communities. It isn’t solely a hate that white Americans have for blacks as people like Winfrey say it is.

But, I’ll tell you what, Oprah. You go ahead and give back the billions of dollars that millions of white Americans willingly gave you for your products, books, and TV shows. I mean, why would you want to have racists as fans?

OK, there is my rant for the day.

School Demands Student Remove ‘Duck Dynasty’ T-Shirt Saying ‘Redneck’ is a Slur

-By Warner Todd Huston

A Florida middle school demanded that a student remove a t-shirt from the Duck Dynasty TV show emblazoned with the word “redneck” across it claiming it was “offensive.”

Bronwyn Ramsey’s 14-year-old son, Christopher Olsen, was forced to remove the shirt at Mandarin Middle School in Jacksonville, FL because, the school said, it violated the school’s code of conduct rules. It was the big word “redneck” to which the school objected.

The t-shirt, which features a large image of Robinson family leader Phil Robinson and the words “redneck of the year,” is available in practically any department store these days.

Christopher was told that the word is offensive and school officials called his mother to bring him a new shirt. But the family says they don’t find the word “redneck” offensive at all.

“I personally didn’t feel like it was negative,” Christopher’s mother said to Jacksonville News 4. “I mean, redneck to me is a hard working person from back in the day. It’s a culture, it’s a way of life and I just didn’t feel like that should be a slur, be labeled a slur.”

Spongebob Squarepants ‘You’re Fired’ Episode a Ratings Success

-By Warner Todd Huston

Nickelodeon caused some stir over the last few months over a new episode of its popular cartoon Spongebob Squarepants where the titular sponge gets fired from his long-time fry cook job. Libs were unhappy at how negatively the show portrayed the welfare state. But when it aired, the episode aired on November 12 and it was a big ratings hit for the kid’s network.

The controversy arose over the fact that the popular kid’s character disparaged the welfare state during the episode causing left-wingers a bit of heartburn.

During the episode, Spongebob is fired from his job and is encouraged by his dimwitted pal Patrick to stay unemployed and mooch off his neighbors. But Spongebob is not at all happy to stay a drag on society and wants a new job so he spends much of the episode trying to find one.

Ultimately, the Bobster is given his old job back because his boss realizes that his work is exemplar and he needs Bob back at the grill to keep his customers happy. but during the show Spongie complains about his friend’s bad behavior and seeks to stay gainfully employed, something that the liberals were very unhappy with.

CNN’s British Import Piers Morgan Calls Gun Owners ‘Heartless Gun Nut Bastards’

Morgan got angry when he discovered that Second Amendment supporters were trying to create a “guns save lives day” to be held on December 14.

It so happens that December 14 was the day that a crazed murderer killed 26 teachers and children at the Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut.

“Imagine the effect this ‘Guns Save Lives Day’ campaign will have on those poor Sandy Hook families, on that first anniversary,” Morgan Tweeted in outrage.

Meghan McCain Feeds Left’s Attacks, Says GOP is ‘Not All Crazy Rednecks’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Meghan McCain is about to start a new “reality” TV show called Raising McCain soon to debut on the new Pivot cable TV channel. But true to her past five-years of public life, she can’t help taking jabs at Republicans and conservatives as she does it.

The show will feature McCain and her friends sitting around talking about the news of the day in what is promised to be a hip, casual style meant to appeal to youthful viewers.

In a recent interview about her upcoming show, McCain complained about all the people attacking her and maintained that her new show won’t be a political pundit-styled show because people were so “mean” to her that she is through with punditry.

“I spent the majority of my 20s having people like Glenn Beck and Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham say nasty, personally hateful things about me, about my body, about my personal life,” McCain told POLITICO. “…with people trying to humiliate me or make me out to seem like I’m stupid, or a whore, and it’s just not the energy that I want to put out anymore. …I just got to a point where I’d like to do something that’s a little different and I’ve never been happier.”

But showing why folks on the right might be a bit irked at her, along with slamming conservative political talk-show hosts, McCain went on in the interview to bash Republican Chris Christie, criticized the “extreme right-wing,” and make calls for “bipartisanship.”

VIDEO: ‘Duck Dynasty’ Stars Take Over Local Church, Joke About Atheists

The good folks of your favorite TV reality show, Duck Dynasty, are holding what they call the “Duck Commander Sunday Services,” from now on. And, typical of their humorous, straightforward personalities, even made a joke at the atheists in a recent Sunday service.

The wise-cracking, Duck call-making family are holding court each Sunday at a Louisiana church and in a report by The Blaze, they are all true to form singing, preaching, and making jokes as they led their congregation in services this last weekend, on Sunday, September 1.

Willie Robertson addresses the congregation

As The Blaze reports, “‘Our attendance doubled on Sunday and I can’t tell you how many visitors told me that there is just something about White’s Ferry Road church that feels like you just came home,’ Ryan Howard, brother of Willie Robertson’s wife Korie, told TheBlaze.com in an email. Duck Dynasty: We’re Using Hollywood to Spread Christian Values

-By Warner Todd Huston

The non-bearded Robertson brother of TV’s Duck Dynasty, Alan Robertson, said in a recent interview that the Robertsons are turning the tables on Hollywood, using Tinsel Town to spread Christianity instead of the usual Hollyweird practice of using our entertainment industry to spread hate for Christianity.

Until last year, Alan Robertson was a pastor of a Louisiana church, but he stepped down from that position and has joined the rest of his family in the popular TV reality show that airs on the A & E Network.

Alan is the eldest son of Robertson family patriarch and Duck Commander company founder Phil Robertson.

When he announced he was stepping down from his pastorship, Alan said, “What I do for our church–you see, it’s a pretty good-sized church–impacts a lot of people, but because of my association with the show, I’ll get to minister to a lot more people. Any person that’s an evangelist, that’s what you want to do, so I had to give this up for something possibly bigger.”
