Showing Them How! ‘Duck Dynasty’ Christmas Album Could Win a Grammy Award

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Robertson family of TV’s Duck Dynasty are the folks liberals hate the most, but the rest of America (you know, real America) love the Robertson clan. The Robertsons are so loved that their Christmas Album is soaring through the charts and is on track to possibly winning a Grammy Award! That’ll show ’em!

According to Billboard, the Robertsons’ Christmas album Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas is ranked 6th over all on the best-selling charts for December. And on the country chart, only Garth Books tops the Louisiana clan’s album.

The Duck Dynasty folks are ranking right up there with some of the biggest names in music today. Only Beyonce, Garth Brooks, Kelly Clarkson, R. Kelly, and One Direction have albums with higher sales that the Robertsons.

The Robertsons’ album had already sold 575,000 units before the tempest over Phil Robertson’s statements about homosexuality caused a ruckus earlier this month. Expectations for CD sales in the week leading up to Christmas were 125,000 copies, putting estimations for total sales at around 700,000 copies since it was released.

There are several categories that the Robertsons could win if nominated for a Grammy.

Such possible categories are:

  • Best New Artist, which is like winning the Rookie of the Year Award.
  • Best Duo/Group Country Music
  • Best Gospel
  • Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance
  • Best Gospel Song
  • Best Contemporary Christian Music Song
  • Best Gospel Album
  • Best Contemporary Christian Music Album

So, what do you guys think? Are the Robertson sticking a great thumb in the left’s eye and showing them how it’s done… or giving them “what fer,” if you will?
