Louisiana Gov. Jindal Calls Islamic Terror What It Is

-By Warner Todd Huston

Defying the liberal foreign policy formula, last week Louisiana’s Republican Governor Bobby Jindal gave an honest, realistic assessment of the Islamist terror going on all across the world. It was an assessment that the Obama administration has refused to acknowledge but it was one that the American people yearn to hear from their leaders. Jindal has been one of the few who seems to understand the reality on the ground.

Naturally Jindal got all kinds of criticism after his interview on the January 26th edition of the Family Research Council’s “Washington Watch.” During the interview Jindal called Islamic terror out for what it is, but his honesty and straight talk deserves to be praised.

The most amazing thing that he said–and also the most obviously true–is that he called the Muslim spread into the west an attempt to “colonize” and “invade” the west.

“If we’re not careful the same no-go zones you’re seeing now in Europe will come to America,” Jindal said. He went on to criticize academia and the “media elite” who work hard against the U.S. and “don’t want to proclaim American exceptionalism.”

Illinois Ranks as ‘Worst’ For Small Businesses

-By Warner Todd Huston

Once again Illinois and California are neck-and-neck in the calculations for the worst of the worst U.S. states, this time in a measure of how friendly the states are for the growth of small businesses.

Earlier this month thumbtack.com released its third annual survey of the climate for small businesses exploring such ratings as the overall friendliness of the state to small businesses, the ease of starting a business, regulations, ease of hiring new employees, taxes, and other criteria.

The poll was conducted among over 12,000 small business owners across the country.

The survey, held in conjunction with the Kauffman Foundation, found that the worst states for small businesses were California, Rhode Island and Illinois, all of which got a Thumbtack “F” rating. The next worst were Connecticut and New Jersey, both of which received a “D” grading.

Illinois has descended in its rating each of the three years that the survey has been conducted having earned a “D+” in 2012, a “D” in 2013, and an “F” in 2014.

Gay Kid in Louisiana Says ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Made Him Feel ‘Unsafe’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Here is the nonsense that the media creates with its untrue “reporting” of the “news.” A gay teen in Louisiana now claims that because of Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson, he has been made to feel “unsafe” living as a gay person in Louisiana.

This from a “closeted” gay student in West Monroe, Louisiana who wrote an essay saying how unsafe he feels because of what Robertson said about gays.

After an interview with Robertson went viral, the old media establishment went wild calling his comments “hate speech,” and “anti-gay” and ramping up pressure on the A&E cable network to fire him from his reality show. All this unfair reporting filled with lies impacted this student in a negative way–as one might expect.

B-List Actor Calls LA Gov. Jindal ‘Dickbrain’ For Supporting ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star

-By Warner Todd Huston

Gay British actor Alan Cumming, was not very happy with Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal for coming to the support of Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson. In fact, Cumming called Jindal a “dickbrain” for coming to Robertson’s support.

Cumming, who starred in such massive, important cinematic hits as Spy Kids and Smurfs 2 and is now a bit player in the TV show The Good Wife, also noted that he wants to institute a “socialist utopia” in the USA.

The homosexual British actor made these comments on his Twitter feed after he belatedly found out that Bobby Jindal came to Robertson’s support.

On his Twitter account, Cumming noted that Jindal said that the “left may control Hollywood, but not the hearts and minds of a majority of Americans.” Then the actor added, “Yet US voted left. Twice.” The actor added the hashtag “#dickbrain.”

RACIST! NAACP Race-Pushers Next Group to Attack ‘Duck Dynasty’s’ Phil Robertson

-By Warner Todd Huston

Phil Robertson of TV’s Duck Dynasty is a racist! So says the race-pushing group the NCAAP. The long-time race group is only the latest extremist, left-wing organization to come out and condemn the patriarch of the TV reality show clan.

The NAACP teamed up with Human Rights Campaign and issued a letter that essentially lied right in its very first paragraph saying that Robertson said that blacks were “happier under Jim Crow laws” and equated “being gay with bestiality and promiscuity.” The FACT is he did no such thing. (Download a .pdf of the NCAAP letter HERE)

Firstly, Robertson did say that in his experience blacks in pre-civil rights Louisiana whom he knew were happy. As “white trash” he said he worked side-by-side in the fields with them. But he did not also say that African Americans were happier under Jim Crow laws. This is a fiction–meaning they LIED, to you in Rio Linda–and these racebaiters made it up out of whole cloth.

Police State: Louisiana Cops Have Power to Force Drivers to Give Blood Samples?

-By Warner Todd Huston

If you live in Louisiana, be aware that police seem to have a fairly new power. If they suspect you to be driving drunk they can demand your blood for an alcohol test and if you don’t want to give it they have the power to throw you in jail until they get a court order demanding you give them blood.

This new power is called the “no refusal” policy. A fitting name, indeed.

In the past a driver had the right to refuse to give police any urine or blood and could refuse a breath test. But now, as Fox 8 notes, “things are different.”

“No refusal means that if you refuse a chemical test once you are arrested for a DWI, that trooper can get a search warrant,” State Police Trooper Melissa Matey said. “That search warrant is for your blood.”

Louisiana Dem. Senator Landrieu ‘Embarrassed’ to Travel in Europe Because Americans Lack Health Insurance

-By Warner Todd Huston

Louisiana’s Democrat Senator Mary Landrieu is embarrassed by America. So embarrassed that she can’t travel in Europe because some Americans lack health insurance. Naturally, many Americans would be happy to donate to a fund to give Landrieu a one-way ticket to her choice of European countries.

Landrieu was speaking at the Legis-Gator luncheon hosted by the Chamber Southwest Louisiana on August 16 when she made the remarks.

She first said that she was quite proud of her vote for Obama’s take over of America’s healthcare system. “If I had to vote for the bill again, I would vote for it tomorrow,” she said.

She went on to announce her embarrassment over America. “It’s embarrassing to me to go to places like France and Spain … and their workers all manage to have health insurance that can’t be taken away.”

Landrieu is up for re-election in 2014.

The news report then notes,

Good to See University Students Acting Patriotically For A Change… But…

-By Warner Todd Huston

Today a left-wing, anti-American student at Louisiana State University wanted to burn a flag for, he claimed, “due process for students and suspected terrorists alike.” Yeah. Whatever.

As it happens, the students he was claiming to represent didn’t seem to appreciate his idea, though. Several hundred of them turned out to the place where he appeared and drowned out his sniveling statement with loud chants of “USA, USA.”

This nebbish was unable to get his little screed spoken and when water balloons began to pelt him the cops quickly moved him out putting an end to the whole scene. It was epic fail for this dude’s blather.

On the Movie Set Today…

Well, all day I have been on the movie set here in Louisiana, so I won’t be posting nearly as much here for the next week (the fans say “boo” the detractors say “yaaa”).

Thus far I been training the extras in military drill for civil war soldiers and firearms training is after lunch. About 130 guys in all. Going fairly well so far.

Today and Sunday for training. Monday rehearsal and some scenes to be filmed.

Filming starts later in the week for the major scenes.

Truth in Accounting Issues: Louisiana’s ‘Financial State of the State’ – True Tax Burden $24.7 Billion

From the Institute for Truth in Accounting…

Chicago (November 29, 2010) Today, the Institute for Truth in Accounting released Louisiana’s “Financial State of the State.” After an intensive review of the State’s 2010 audited financial report the Institute determined the State is in a precarious financial position because it does not have the funds available to pay more than $24.7 billion of the State’s commitments as they come due. Each taxpayer’s share of this financial burden equals $19,800.

Louisiana state law requires a balanced budget. “If governors and legislatures had truly balanced the state’s budget, no taxpayer’s financial burden would exist,” said Sheila Weinberg, founder and CEO of the Institute for Truth in Accounting (IFTA). She continued, “A state budget is not balanced if past costs, including those for employees’ retirement benefits, are pushed into the future.”

While Louisiana reported total assets of $45.4 billion, the Institute’s review of the state’s 2010 financial report revealed that there is more than $16.9 billion of off-balance sheet retirement liabilities. More than $30.8 billion of the State’s assets cannot be easily converted to cash to pay State bills of $39.4 billion as they come due. These assets consist of capital assets, including infrastructure, buildings and land, and assets the use of which is restricted by law or contract. The State does not have the funds needed to pay for more than $24.7 billion of state obligations.

VIDEO: Another Democrat Jumps Ship, Joins the GOP

-By Warner Todd Huston

We haven’t seen too many Democrats jumping ship and joining the GOP, but a few have.

The most notable recent switch over was Alabama’s Democrat Congressman Parker Griffith, well known as a moderate, or Blue Dog Democrat, who finally had enough of the Democrats. He dropped his affiliation with the Democrats and joined the GOP.

That was not enough, however, to save his seat as the GOP did not stick with him during the recent primary and instead selected Mo Brooks to face Democrat Steve Raby in Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District.

But with the drubbing that Democrats are likely to sustain in but a few short days, it is likely that more Democrats in purple states will jump the Democrat ship and jopin the GOP. Perhaps as a harbinger of things to come, the Lt. Governor of Louisiana has done just that.

On October 26, at a Republican Leadership Summit in Baton Rouge, interim Lt. Governor of Louisiana, Scott Angelle, announced his that he is switching to the Republican Party.

Angelle will return to his role as Secretary of State after a new Lt. Gov. is elected in November.

Jindal Calls Obama’s Actions in Gulf a ‘War’ on Louisiana

-By Warner Todd Huston

Governor Bobby Jindal gives a speech at the Rally For Economic Survival in Lafayette, Louisiana. Over 11,000 people gathered at the Cajun Dome to protest what they say is an assault on Louisiana’s economy by President Barack Obama.

“The fact that the federal government can’t do its job shouldn’t cost thousands of Louisianans OUR jobs.”

ACORN’s Tangled Branches

-By Warner Todd Huston

News is all over the country that the often criminal group the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) is dead, folding its tent, kaput. All this is because, as Politico puts it, of a “conservative assault that never prompted any prosecutions.”

But let us not get our hopes up that ACORN is defeated. It isn’t. In fact, most of the groups that huddled under ACORN’s left-wing are just changing their names and moving on with all the same people involved as if nothing ever happened. And this isn’t anything new. The fact is, ACORN activists have always hid behind dozens of false front organizations and corporate identities to disguise their criminal network.

In California, for instance, one of the ACORN affiliates is changing its name to “Californians for Community Empowerment” and one of the New York offices will now be known as “New York Communities for Change.” But all the same people that ran these former ACORN offices in these states are still there, no change has been made but the name.

We also saw the shady groups connected with ACORN but not named ACORN just last year during the Doug Hoffman, New York 23 arc. There an ACORN affiliate had created a fake political party in order to funnel cash to the Democrat running in that race. One of the organizations hip-deep in that election was a political group called the Working Families Party. Of course, the WFP is more-or-less a front for ACORN in New York and no political party at all.

Louisiana Legislature Floating Bill Making Obamacare Illegal in State

-By Warner Todd Huston

Louisiana State Senator A.G. Crowe (R, Slidell) is introducing a bill for the 2010 legislative session in Baton Rouge that would make Obamacare illegal if it violates state laws, effectively making Obamacare null and void in the Pelican State.

Senator Crowe states that his bill “provides that no law or rule shall compel, directly or indirectly, any person, employer or health care provider to participate in any health care system or health insurance.”

Crowe’s proposed Senate Bill (download .pdf file) begins as follows:

HEALTH CARE. Prohibits state or local governmental coercion of any Louisiana employer, health care provider, or individual to compel participation in any health care system or health insurance plan.

Crowe insists that Obamacare violates Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution and “is therefore unconstitutional.” He also feels that the president’s plans violates the 10th Amendment among others.
