Reuters Touts Obama’s Faux Tax Cuts

-By Warner Todd Huston

Reuters has apparently singed up on Obama’s communication team if its latest lovefest over his plans to favor America with “tax cuts” just in time for the January election campaign is any indication. It took four, count ’em four, Reuters reporters to come up with this one!

Reuters was pleased to note that Obama and the Democrats have now “plotted their legislative priorities for the months leading up to November’s elections” and, happy days, its tax cuts for the middle class. Of course, by that you can read “class warfare to continue to be used as a cynical campaign tool,” not that Reuters points out this truth.

Not only is Reuters pumped up about the beneficence of Obama and the Democrats who are so kind as to offer us those “middle-class tax cuts,” but the venerable news service also points out that those mean, dastardly Republicans “will not go along with” Obama’s kindness.

What do those idiot Republicans want to do? Per Reuters,

Buzzfeed Misleads on Job Loss of U.S. Merchant Marine, Blames Tea Party

-By Warner Todd Huston

Now that Congress passed and the President signed the highway bill, Buzzfeed has jumped in to decry the loss of as many as 10,000 jobs in the U.S. overseas shipping sector. Naturally, since it’s Buzzfeed we’re talking about here, only the left side of the story is being told. Worse, Buzzfeed tries to pin this “job loss” on the Tea Party — as if millions of Tea Partiers nation wide are dead set on causing job loss to our Merchant Marines.

For Buzzfeed, former The Hill employee John Stanton seems to have simply rejiggered a Democrat Party press release to cry about the “jobs loss” he and the left think they see in the Highway bill. He spends no time at all worrying about any Republican response, quotes only Democrats, and also seems to be just regurgitating press releases from lobbyists for the Merchant Marine. Of course, there really isn’t any explanation of what really happened.

One of the claimed “unexpected” results of the highway bill, Stanton tells us, was the reduction in federal funding of the shipping by sea of foreign food aid. Until this bill, 75% of this food aid was shipped aboard American ships. The new bill cuts that to 50% for a savings of some $108 million a year in taxpayer’s funds.

This, Buzzfeed says, is a result of those darn Tea Partiers being so staunchly against earmarks.

Buzzfeed’s Hastings Slams Dinesh D’Souza as ‘A Hack’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Apparently Buzzfeed’s Michael Hastings has trouble understanding the discourse of the deeper philosophical concepts in which author Dinesh D’Souza has engaged over the years and, like many people that don’t understand something, he just waves off D’Souza’s work as “loony tunes” stuff.

On a recent appearance on the little seen Current TV show The Young Turks with host Cenk Uygur, Hastings attacked best selling author D’Souza as a “hack” writer, one that “lives in a fantasy world” based on his various books on such high concepts as the existence of life after death and how the cultural left bears some responsibility for the attacks on Sept. 11. Hastings so ridiculously and childishly over simplified D’Souza’s points that one might wonder who is the real hack, D’Souza or Hastings?

Hastings slammed D’Souza for not only being a graduate of Dartmouth, but for being crazy enough to believe in religion and for thinking that the cultural left might be a bad influence in the U.S. (Transcript below)

Ratings Smackdown: Savannah Guthrie’s ‘Today’ Debut Beat by ‘GMA’

-By Warner Todd Huston

This week ABC’s morning show, Good Morning America, had it’s best Monday morning ratings in the 25-54 demo since 2006. Significantly, this same Monday was the official debut morning of Savannah Guthrie as the official new co-host of NBC’s Today,

Today is usually the morning ratings powerhouse and Guthrie has had a week already to impress viewers, but apparently she has yet to make the case.

Guthrie had been “filling in” for fired co-host Ann Curry for the past week, but this Monday was her official debut as Matt Lauer’s co-host. Despite the special occasion, Today lost its usual dominance of the morning ratings game.

Fmr Media Matters Hack Says Romney Too White for Black Voters

-By Warner Todd Huston

Now we have to ask, who is using the race card in this presidential campaign again? Is it Republicans? Is it Governor Romney? Nope. You got it, it’s the left as we see again with the efforts of a former operative of Soros-funded Media Matters and some of his Old Media pals who have created a video saying that Mitt Romney is too white to appeal to black voters. So much for that new tone, eh?

Just in time to diss Romney before he speaks to a gathering of the NAACP, a liberal advocacy group made up of four long-time left-wing media operatives is attempting to turn blacks against Romney apparently because being white somehow makes it impossible for them to vote for him.

Set up as a faux meeting of Romney’s advisers, the video goes on to bash Mormonism, to claim that Republicans want to disenfranchise blacks and young voters, and that Republicans are perpetrating racism against Obama, not to mention holding birtherism against the Massachusetts Governor despite that Romney has never agreed with the birth certificate questions.

The video begins with a faux advisor who is presented as the guy that created the Willie Horton ads in 1988 for George H.W. Bush. This character tries to advise the Governor how to talk to the NAACP. Eventually he ends up saying that Romney is so white that he “makes Wonder Bread look like pumpernickel.”

“Let me be clear about something, this is not about the blacks. Now Governor you are a very nice man, you are a very nice white man. You are so white, you are extremely white. You make Wonder Bread look like pumpernickel,” the pretend Romney advisor says.

Most Dishonest Democrat Party Tweet EVAH!

-By Warner Todd Huston

Obama has been blaming every problem he’s faced in the last three years on Bush. Obama also spent four years blaming Bush before being elected President. Every other phrase out of Obama’s mouth is “the mess we inherited,” or “the previous administration.”

So, what is the Democrat National Committee’s latest tweet? Why, what else but to say that Romney blaming others for anything “isn’t very Presidential.”

If this isn’t the biggest, most glaring example of hypocrisy, what is?

And the fact that the DNC is quoting a “journalist” is even worse. Liars stick together and these liars are incredibly brazen, aren’t they?

Fox Business Network Video: Henry Kissinger on the Unrest in Syria

Things are still bad in Syria (and all across the Middle East, for that matter). Despite Obama’s claims of great Mid East foreign policy successes, there is still uncertainty and unrest there and Obama is failing to do anything about it all. Twitterings: Buzzfeed’s Hastings Calls ‘Neocons’ Gay

-By Warner Todd Huston

The journalist Buzzfeed assigned to cover Barack Obama for this campaign season, Michael Hastings, recently took to his Twitter account to claim that “neocons” are gay. I guess accusing people of being homosexual is what passes for serious journalism these days.

Hastings was responding to a Tweet by Richard Grenell, who was taunting the Buzzfeed journo. You may recall that Grenell is an openly gay Republican who served in the George W. Bush administration and for a time was on Mitt Romney’s advisory team.

In his Tweet, Grenell said, “Aren’t u covering Obama for BuzzFeed? Put your big boy pants on & get to work. MT @mmhastings: a “duck call” for trolls.”

In reply, Hastings went for the very name calling tactic that liberals say should never be used: he called Grenell and “neocons” gay.

@RichardGrenell ric, your tweets often appear to reveal insecurities about your own masculinity. is that a neocon thing?

Hastings’ Tweet has caused eyebrows to raise.

Also on Twitter, Stephen Gutowski then asked Buzzfeed’s chief, Ben Smith, for his reaction to this outrageous Tweet made by his “reporter.”

It seems that Ben Smith just blew it off as a joke.

Boston Globe Lifts Bad Info From Other Sources on Romney’s Bain Tenure

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Boston Globe wanted readers to think it had a scoop on its Bain Capitol story on July 12. But in the story claiming Romney is lying about leaving Bain in 1999, the Boston Globe not only used the work of other publications and did so without attribution (we call that plagiarism) but, on top of that, the sources used are simply wrong in the claim that Romney stayed at Bain three years after he said he left. It’s all around newspaper fail.

The Boston Globe was excited to push its story (subscription required), a tale of gotcha journalism where the GOP candidate was “proven” to have lied about saying he left Bain Capitol in 1999. The Globe claims they “found” evidence that he was actually there, actively managing the company until as late as 2002. If this were true, Romney wouldn’t just be a liar but he’d also be in trouble with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Says the Boston Globe,

Mitt Romney has repeatedly sought to distance himself from some business dealings at Bain Capital by asserting that he left the firm in February 1999, but a review of public records shows that his authority lingered for three more years as Bain repeatedly listed him on government filings as the man in charge. Until 2002, when Romney and Bain Capital finalized a severance agreement, he remained the firm’s “sole stockholder, chairman of the board, chief executive officer and president,” according to SEC documents. The description was applied even to the creation of five new Bain partnerships a full three years after Romney has said he relinquished all control.

If this were all true, it would be a pretty bad thing for the candidate. Fortunately for Mitt and unfortunately for the screaming headline of the Boston Globe, it isn’t true. Mitt really did stop managing Bain Capitol in 1999 when he left the company to take over the struggling Winter Olympics.

Even FactCheck.org, no friend to Republicans, has debunked claims that Romney was actively controlling Bain after 1999. The Obama campaign has repeatedly claimed that Obama managed Bain after 1999, but FactCheck says Obama is all wet.

Uppity, Feminist Journalist Meets Muslims, Gets Arrested, Hilarity Ensues

-By Warner Todd Huston

A left-wing, uppity, feminist, English journalist, a woman quixotically named Cinnamon Heathclote-Drury , got her world turned upside down over the last few months and her own liberalism is what did her in. One has to feel for her, of course, if only a little bit. But still laughter is far quicker to hit you before sympathy comes.

So, imagine the scene. A loud-mouthed, British, feminist journalist sees a woman in a hijab loading a large number of groceries onto the store conveyor belt at check out. She begins fuming with feminist ire because this Muslim woman’s husband stands idly by doing nothing to help the overworked woman load the groceries.

Femi-journo can take it no more and just has to say something. She brusquely confronts the man telling him that his wife needs to help loading the merchandise. She pushes past the man and starts helping the hijab-clad woman herself because, “This is what feminism’s about – women helping women.”

As it happened, neither the Muslim man nor his wife much appreciated the “social lesson” the uppity journalist thought to teach them. And, as so many Muslims in Britain do, they proceeded to play the Brit’s liberalism against them. The couple cried racism and had the journalist arrested for a “hate crime.”

This is so funny on so many levels.

With 100,000 Safe Gun Carries in Minnesota, Journalist Worries About ‘Violence’

-By Warner Todd Huston

The State of Minnesota started handing out concealed carry permits all the way back in 2003 with no statistical rise in crime. Yet still, in 2012, a journalist from the Minnesota Star is still worrying about “gun violence” being perpetrated by the same CC people who have not been responsible for any great rise in crime in almost ten years. This really shows the bias against our Second Amendment rights that so many journalists harbor.

At the top of his piece for the Star Trib, Larry Oakes writes of a Minnesota permit holder that carries his firearm daily. Of this law abiding citizen, Oakes says, “He’s just another average Minnesotan who has acquired the power to kill.”

Sensationalist rhetoric like “acquired the power to kill,” is a bit absurd but typical of the bias journalists reveal when talking about guns. The truth is, this citizen had “the power to kill” without ever having to get a legal carry permit. Everyone has “the power to kill,” for Lord’s sakes, carry permit or no.

Oakes goes on to worry about all the violence that hasn’t happened — but he imagines will happen despite the facts. Not only does he worry about it in Minnesota, but across the United States where at this date every state but one has some sort of shall issue law on the books and the number of gun-carrying Americans has gone up exponentially.

Buzzfeed’s Most Dishonest Headline Attacking Romney

-By Warner Todd Huston

Buzzfeed sure seems to be just another arm of the Obama re-election campaign with a piece today attacking Romney over Bain outsourcing… even though Romney did not work at Bain when the outsourcing happened.

One of Obama’s most cynical campaign tactics of late has been to try and link GOP candidate Mitt Romney to jobs outsourcing that the company he once worked for undertook after the candidate left the company. Buzzfeed is simply following the Obama game plan by aiding the President with these outright lies.

Today the popular site posted a misleading headline about Bain outsourcing, illicitly linked that outsourcing to Romney, then buried the truth that Romney really didn’t have anything to do with it at the bottom of the story.

Williams, you’ll recall, was the Politico journalist suspended for outrageous race and class-baiting comments he made on MSNBC.

Elizabeth Warren Lies or is She a Victim of ‘Right-Wing Smear Machine’?

-By Warner Todd Huston

No one is responsible for their lies, if they are liberals, anyway. We see this axiom at play again in the Massachusetts Senate race where Democrat candidate Elizabeth “Faux-Cahontis” Warren — who has for decades made her fortune and gained professional success in part for falsely claiming she has native American ancestry — is now being called a victim of the “right-wing smear machine.”

Apparently, Warren’s apologists are now saying that her decades of lies and wealth building of a false claim isn’t her fault. The whole darn mess is just a result of those mean ol’ right-wingers.

Already we’ve been treated to Warren’s statement that the whole issue is an attack by “a right wing extremist .” This claim was made after the candidate refused to meet with representatives of the real Cherokees who demanded Warren meet with them to explain her false claims of being one of them.

WaPo Fact Checker: We Won’t Fact Check WaPo Articles

-By Warner Todd Huston

Only others should be held accountable, not the Washington Post. I suppose that is the stance of Washington Post Fact Checker Glenn Kessler if I read correctly his somewhat confusing July 2 article answering to the measurably false story the Post published claiming Romney out sourced jobs when he worked for Bain Capital. Fact checking is only to be applied to others because, as Kessler says, the Washington Post Fact Checker won’t fact check any facts published by the Washington Post.

Kessler announced in his article that he won’t be awarding any “Pinocchios” to the whole controversy over the Post’s claims that Romney outsourced jobs during his Bain days which, I suppose, makes Post writers sigh a sigh of relief. But look out everyone else. Your words better be truthful or the Fact Checker will be on your case.

We’ve been discussing the original Post story and other coverage on the Bain jobs out sourcing issue. John Nolte talked about some of the stories on July 3 and as he notes, no out sourcing of jobs occurred while Romney was at Bain Capital. That is just a fact.

Muslim Indiana Congressman: US Schools Should Use Koran as ‘Foundation’ Like Madrassas Do

-By Warner Todd Huston

Democrat Congressman Andre Carson of Indiana has a new plan for America’s schools. They should be retooled using the Islamic Madrassa as a model and their “foundation” should be the Muslim holy book the Koran.

Rep. Carson made these suggestions at the annual convention of the Islamic Circle of North America held in Hartford, Connecticut on May 26. This year’s convention theme seems to have been “Our Family, Our Home & Our Destiny” and Carson took this concept to heart in his plan to remake American schools into a nation of Madrassas.

Can anyone imagine the outcry from the left and the Old Media both if a Republican Congressman had made the suggestion that our grade schools and high schools should be remade into Bible-pushing centers?

Politico Forgets to Mention Democrats Caused Student Loan Interest Rate Hike Problem

-By Warner Todd Huston

In its update on the coming student loan interest rate hike deal in Congress, Politico dances its blame-the-GOP tap dance once again saying that the coming rate hike is all just “politics.” But somehow Politico forgets to note that this interest rate problem is of the Democrats’ own making in the first place.

Reporting that Congress has signed off on a bipartisan deal to halt the scheduled interest rate increase on millions of student loans, Politico takes a paragraph to “explain” what the hold up was.

Lawmakers moved quickly on Friday to end a legislative dispute that got caught up in politics on Capitol Hill and on the campaign trail, as Obama repeatedly blamed Congress for delaying and Republicans accused the president of being AWOL in negotiations.

Yes, those darned old Republicans were just engaging in “politics.”

But, wouldn’t it have been nice for Politico to note why we got here with this student loan interest rate fiasco?

Conservatives Beating Bill Nye the Global Warming Guy, But Obama to the Rescue

-By Warner Todd Huston

Bill Nye “the Science Guy” and CNN are a bit miffed at all those global warming scoffers. They are winning the public debate, beating the “consensus” opinion that global warming — or globaloney — is poised to destroy the planet.

Nye and CNN host Carol Costello both dismissed any climate change skeptics with Costello claiming that “politicization” and a willful disbelief in global warming consensus was helping to ruin that cherished science. Costello also worried that skeptics were “winning.”

In a July 2 appearance on CNN’s Newsroom, host Carol Costello warmed Nye up driving straight for the idea that “the weather” has become “incredibly politicized” and asked Bill Nye to respond to charges that he was just a “kooky guy who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”

Nye defended himself saying, “I can read graphs” and went on to claim that the left’s beloved consensus was true because, well, that is “just how it is.”

It is interesting to note that neither Costello nor Nye seemed to think that left-wing, global warming supporters were engaging in any “politicizing” of the issue. Curiously, neither mentioned Climategate, the now infamous series of emails released by whistleblowers that proved that global warming supporters were engaging in a monumental political campaign in order to keep the money flowing to their research projects, a campaign that made the lie to the “science” of global warming.

Washington Post Accuses GOP Congressman of Saying Something He Never Said

-By Warner Todd Huston

This is a perfect example of Old Media “gotcha” reporting. On July 3, the Washington Post attempted to accuse GOP Congressman Joe Walsh (Ill. 8th District) of saying that his Democrat opponent, Iraq War veteran Tammy Duckworth, is not a hero.

Not only is this perfect as “gotcha” reporting, it also an example of the Washington Post getting its marching orders from the left-wing, George Soros controlled Internet group Think Progress because that is where this faux report originated.

Only July 1, Congressman Walsh held a townhall event near Elk Grove, Illinois, ostensibly to talk about the Obamacare decision issued by the Supreme Court of the United States a few days before. In his comments Walsh brought up those men and women that serve or have served the U.S. in our armed forces, as he always does at the beginning of his appearances. He noted that such heroes don’t usually talk about their service and he used the example of Senator John McCain, who was often reluctant to talk about his service during the 2008 campaign for President.

Eventually, in an offhanded comment, Walsh mentioned Duckworth’s touting of her own service saying, “that’s all she talks about.”

Now, before we get into this further, I was actually at this Walsh Townhall. I reported on it at my Illinois site, but I mention this so that I can tell you my impression of what actually went on there.

Colorado County Officials: ABC Took Colorado Fires/Terrorism Comments Out of Context

-By Warner Todd Huston

On June 28, Undersheriff Paula Presley of El Paso County, Colorado was interviewed by ABC News’ Alex Perez. After that interview aired, government officials say ABC News took comments out of context and falsely made it seem as if the Undersheriff was saying the massive Colorado forest fires were a result of terrorist arsonists.

The segment that appeared on ABC World News with Diane Sawyer, misled viewers into imagining that the fires were started by arsonists when no determination has yet been made about how the fires started.

As Anchor Sawyer opened the segment, she said, “Tonight ABC News has learned that arson could be to blame.”

Reporter Perez then went on to say, “The FBI and local authorities have yet to pinpoint what started the wild fire, but in an exclusive interview the county undersheriff tells us investigators believe this was arson.”

The report then showed Undersheriff Presley walking with reporter Perez and saying, “this in many ways is a type of terrorism where somebody is trying to destroy you know, an entire city, essentially.”

It Begins: CNN Rushes to Point Out Romney Once Liked ‘Healthcare Mandates’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Can you say 10th Amendment? CNN doesn’t seem to be able to

It was practically only hours after the Supreme Court issued it’s historic — and odious — decision to give Obamacare its stamp of approval that CNN rushed to tell readers that Romney, too, once approved of a healthcare mandate. This narrative, we know, will be one the Old Media tries to use to beat Romney down and give Obama his second term.

“As it turns out,” CNN trumpets, “the tax penalty in the president’s health care law was modeled after the reform plan passed in Massachusetts under then governor Mitt Romney.”

Of course, this is basically true, so fair point. But CNN falls down on the job by not explaining what Mitt Romney has been saying about his Massachusetts healthcare mandates. Romney has repeatedly said that his plan was a state-based plan but one he does not think would work on a federal level.

Google, Big Obama Donors, Bans Firearm Accessory Sales in Ads

Second Amendment, Schmecond Amendment. Google wants you to know that it is thinking of your “safety” as it announces that it has banned anything to do with firearms on its Google Shopping service. That’s what they’ve told HamLund Tactical, a Texas-based company that deals in ammunition and firearms accessories, anyway. Further, firearms customers have recently found that Google Shopping won’t give them any search results for firearm-related products anymore even though the change over isn’t supposed to fully take effect until July 1.

The folks at HamLund Tactical posted the letter they received from Google on a gun enthusiast’s message board called 68forums. In that letter, Google informs dealers in firearm accessories and ammunition that they will no longer be allowed to sell their wares through the Google service.

Starting July 1 Google has implemented the new policy, HamLund was informed. “We do not allow the promotion or sale of weapons and any related products such as ammunitions or accessory kits on Google Shopping. In order to comply with our new policies, please remove any weapon-related products from your data feed and then re-submit your feed in the Merchant Center,” the letter says.

This goes for knives as well as firearms and related products.

Miami Herald: Hey, We Journalists are Heroes, Ya Know?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Tooting one’s own horn has always been considered a social faux pas, an example of arrogance, and just plain ignorant. But it seems that someone forgot to teach these social niceties to Leonard Pitts of the Miami Herald because this week Pitts has decided to tell us all that real journalists shouldn’t be scoffed at. Why? Because they are selfless, danger-defying, super action heroes, or something. Yes, Pitts is sure that journalists are just purer, better, smarter, and more intelligent than you just-a-bloggers out there.

Now, I’ve always tried to live by the maxim that my own status as a hero or villain is for others to determine, not me to invent and tout. But Pitts isn’t going to just sit around while his precious fellow journalists are verbally maligned by someone as low as Sarah Palin, any old Breitbart writer or — the horrors — just a blogger.

Apparently someone mentioned to Mr. Pitts that Governor Palin, who Pitts thinks is a “silly” person, mentioned his profession at this year’s Right Online event, sponsored by Americans for Prosperity. During her remarks at the weekend planned in part to celebrate the life and work of conservative Internet giant Andrew Breitbart, Palin said, “Every citizen can be a reporter.”

This struck Mr. Pitts as an outrage. Why, only real reporters, he feels, can properly report the news. Pitts proves to us how great these professional reporters can be with his very article, too. I mean, where else can we get such timely “news” reports on events that happened two weeks ago but from a professional journalist like Leonard Pitts. Jr.?

Savannah Guthrie Replacing Ann Curry on TODAY, What Can We Expect?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Media watchers are announcing that Savannah Guthrie has been tapped to replace the departed Ann Curry on NBC’s long-running morning show, Today. So, what can we say of Guthrie? What has she done before to prepare us for her role at Today?

Will Guthrie be that long-awaited “unbiased” denizen of NBC, the one that will bring credibility to Today? My Magic 8 Ball reads Don’t count on it.

In fact, Guthrie has already been called out over the years by media watchers for biased interviews and comments. Here are just a few of them.

Only just this week, Guthrie was heard to gush over Supreme Court Chief Justice Roberts’ decision to Okay Obamacare by happily noting that he cares more about the Court’s “credibility” than he does questions of the Constitution. She also ascribed the wisdom of Solomon to him calling his opinion a “Solomonic decision.”

But, let’s harken back to the early GOP primary campaign when leading figure Jon “1%” Huntsman was continually pushed by the media as the perfect GOP candidate despite that he could never actually get any GOP votes. Last Sept., in an interview with Mr. Moderate, Guthrie decided to help him tip in his mushy middle bona fides by asking Hunstsman this leading and assuredly unbiased question:

News Corp to Split Entertainment from Publishing Division

-By Warner Todd Huston

News Corp watchers have been talking about a possible split of Rupert Murdoch’s massive entertainment and publishing empire for sometime and it looks like they are finally on the right side of the guesswork as the News Corp board met on Wednesday to consider separating Murdoch’s entertainment from his publishing division.

For some time Murdoch has resisted calls to split his empire into separate sections — even as recent as last month — but after the wiretapping scandals that hit his British newspapers, the idea seems to have become more acceptable to the media giant.

While the initial meeting was held Wednesday, the final decision might not be known until Thursday and the whole process could take as long as a year to work out.

This is not halving of the corporation, though. The publishing portion of the company is far smaller than the newer education/entertainment division so reports that we are about to witness a “splitting in half” of News Corp is an over statement.

NBC Uses Che Guevara-Loving Illegal Immigration Activist to Denounce Arizona

-By Warner Todd Huston

In a report on the recent Supreme Court decision reversing parts of Arizona’s immigration law, NBC’s Matt Taibbi gave extensive airtime to an activist for illegal immigration. The woman was shown sitting in a room prominently featuring a poster of Cuban communist, terrorist and murderer, Che Guevara, and among other activists wearing “Legalize Arizona” t-shirts. Yet, NBC labeled this woman a mere housewife and mother without noting her status as essentially a lobbyist against America’s immigration laws.

Taibbi sympathetically portrayed Mrs. Leticia Ramirez as “a mother” who just happens to have “been in this country illegally for over a decade,” and a woman just trying to be a good citizen.

Mrs. Ramirez, wearing an activist t-shirt that says “Arrest Arpaio, Not The People; End Police and ICE Collaboration,” said she is worried that the Supreme Court decision will cause fear in her illegal community.

It’s going to affect the whole community because they’re not going to be able to go out, have a normal life. They’re going to be afraid that if we go out they might – we might get stopped just for your color.

Of course, the fact is that laws governing immigration are supposed to do just that, make lawbreakers fear their status. Tougher laws are successful in making illegal entrants self deport. That is why they work.

CNN Mistakenly Reported Roberts Overturned Obamacare

-By Warner Todd Huston

Seven minutes of “f**king humiliation” is how one CNN staffer described the morning faux pas the “most trusted name in news” made when it reported that Chief Justice John Roberts overturned Obamacare’s mandate this morning.

As the Supreme Court of the United States was delivering its long awaited decision on Obamacare, CNN’s on-air news reader, 29-year-old Kate Bolduan, breathlessly said that the healthcare mandate was struck down. And I do mean breathlessly…

Kate Bolduan: We’re still going through the reading of the opinion, but I want to bring you the breaking news that according to producer Bill Mears, the individual mandate is not a valid, uh, not a valid exercise of the Commerce Clause. So it appears as if the Supreme Court Justices have struck down the individual mandate, the center piece of the healthcare legislation.

Not only did Miss Bolduan make CNN look bad but she also claimed that CNN’s man inside the courtroom, Bill Mears, told her this misconstruction of the facts over the phone. It doesn’t appear, though, that Mears actually said the whole thing was struck down but that young Bolduan just didn’t understand the complexities that Mears was trying to relate.

Even worse, chief business hour programming from 9:30 AM to 5 PM (ET) also had its worst low since 2005. CNBC also had its lowest rated quarter in the most sought after demo since 1997.

NPR Hosannas: Obama’s Voice ‘Clears Up The Weather’

-By Warner Todd Huston

At around 130 days until Election Day, National Public Radio thought it would be nice to give the President a little boost by going back to its 2008 practice of assigning to Obama the god-like powers of The One, The Light Bringer, The Obammessiah.

This time tax dollar supported NPR thought it would be nice to air the claim that the mere sound of Obama’s voice can part the clouds, stop that depressing ol’ rain, and bring out the sun. No, really.

On Tuesday, June 26, NPR correspondent Scott Horsley reported from a New Hampshire Obama rally and his report reads alternately like a campaign advertisement for President Obama, a Super PAC attack ad on Mitt Romney, and a cult-like deification of The One.
