Gingrich Defends Palin on ‘Death Panels’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Obviously ABC’s George Stephanapoulos tried to get former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich to trash Sarah Palin, but the wily former Speaker wasn’t having any of that noise.

After Stephanapoulos read Governor Palin’s comments about the “evil” of a government system that would tell its patients to die instead of helping them live, Speaker Gingrich reminds us all that Obama is asking us to “trust the government” on communal standards which will set up a system where bureaucrats decide what healthcare we are “allowed” to have. The former Speaker also reminds us that these standards are a dangerous road down which to travel and that euthanasia is a likely outcome of bureaucrats deciding who is worth getting healthcare and who isn’t.

Some Chilling Things in Obamacare

-By Warner Todd Huston

Larry Schweikart, author of “A Patriot’s History of the United States,” has a nicely detailed piece on the Family Security Matters site that is must reading for anyone curious of some of the worst, most chilling things in the various bills now before Congress.

Mr. Schweikart has disturbing things such as:

Pg 22 of the HC Bill mandates the Government will audit books of all employers that self insure. Can you imagine what that will do to small businesses? Every one will abandon “self insurance” and go on Government insurance. So when Obama says that there will still be private health care, it’s simply a lie: this mandate will force employers to abandon their private plans.

Or, how about the truth of rationing and the fact that government not doctors will be deciding what care you are “allowed” to have.

ABC Reports: It’s Real People, REAL Mad

-By Warner Todd Huston

ABC News seemed to file a report that refutes the left wing mantra that all the outrage over Obamacare is fake, manufactured, or invented by a “Brooks Brothers rent-a-mob” with coverage of the local folks that confronted Blue Dog Democrat Frank Kratovil (D, Maryland) as he attempted to avoid a townhall meeting on his recess.

Kratovil employed the Democrat’s newest form of avoidance by trying to set up one-on-one meetings with his constituents instead of the regular townhall styled meeting and in that way avoid the confrontations that whip up crowds.

The Democrats are hoping that the less volatile way to meet the folks back home will paper over the outrage so widely felt by voters. They also realize that their members returning home won’t have to see as many of those voters with time consuming one-on-one sessions instead of larger townhall meetings.

It’s all just a sneaky Democratic trick to keep their members from being forced to deal with the voters.

As Left Decries Righty Protests, Union Announces Own Upcoming Protests — Hypocrisy Anyone?

-By Warner Todd Huston

The lefty spin machine is in high gear trying to paint the healthcare protests happening across the country as illegitimate because they are “organized.” Amazingly and hypocritically the left is attempting to make community organizing a bad thing. Yes, all of a sudden after the last four years of their candidate and now president basing his entire campaign for president on his history as a “community organizer,” now organizing in your community makes you a brown-shirted, hatemonger paid off by shadowy GOP bigwigs.

And as this leftist meme is swirling around the country what do we see of one of the left’s largest, most powerful organizations? Why the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is announcing its plans to organize protests during this Congressional recess, of course.

Nothing like condemning your enemies for doing precisely the same thing you are doing, eh SEIU? Do liberals have any shame or conscience at all?

Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?

-By Dan Scott

With the recent pushback by the public against the rushing legislative juggernaut of Pelosi, Reid and Obama, they have suffered a loss of credibility. The DNC has begun running ads basically saying paid mobs by the GOP and insurance industry are trying to derail Healthcare Reform. The problem for Democrats with such a strategy is it is an exercise in self-delusion leading to defeat. The old dictum of “the customer is always right” tells us if you want to sell something you don’t insult, belittle, or dismiss the customer. No matter how correct you believe yourself to be, an angry customer is not one whom will not be returning to your establishment anytime soon. The Democrats are operating under the delusion that since they won the election, they have the unchallengeable right to do as they please. The public has responded accordingly. Hilariously, the DNC ads actually imply that conservatives and GOP voters are sore losers preventing the will of the majority.

A sore loser may act in bad form, but an ungracious winner is far more unacceptable and immature. But let’s examine this idea of sore loser as implied by the DNC. The idea of an election in a Republic is to represent the interests of the majority with deference to the point of not trampling on the rights of the minority. In the most elementary form, any person elected to public office does not just represent those who voted for them otherwise they would not have any credibility and more importantly would lack the authority to legitimately govern all the people. Our system of government is based on SELF GOVERNANCE, which means the governed have to CONSENT to any action by those who would govern. This consent is not merely a one time iron clad commitment granted as a blank check upon winning a popularity contest, it is EARNED by the consistent representation of the governed who in turn continue to consent. While the public reasonably gives the benefit of the doubt (Public Trust) to elected officials, it is the responsibility of the elected officials to keep faith with this trust as they represented it. Any misrepresentation by someone campaigning for office is a violation of the public trust and voids any claim of legitimacy even if they garner a majority of votes by such a misrepresentation. An interesting side note here, Robert Gibbs when recognizing the government of Iran as legitimate by virtue of an obvious fraudulent election seemed to choke on that statement. At some level, even Gibbs realizes an election does not necessarily confer legitimacy.

Henry Lewis Gates and the Debasement of American Education

-By Thomas E. Brewton

More consequential than Professor Gates’s racist rant against a Cambridge police officer is the core rot in American education introduced by his academic specialty, black studies, which is an excrescence of 1960s and 1970s student radicalism.

Harvard’s Professor Henry Lewis Gates is, of course, not solely responsible for the muddle-headed mess that is American education today. But the politically-correct, identity-politics education, of which he is a champion, has destroyed the historical purpose of education, leaving us an ignorant and divided people.

Student radicals of the late 1960s and 1970s demanded “relevant” subjects, but those subjects gave them no useful knowledge or skills, thus leaving them outside the mainstream of employment and contributing to their bitterness and feelings that they were victims of discrimination.

Black studies and the other identity-politics specialties are radicalizing preparation for work as community organizers. Their effect is to establish a separate culture that is critical of the ethos upon which the United States was founded.

Tenn County Dem Chair Calls Obamacare Protesters Nazis

-By Warner Todd Huston

Remember how The Obamamessiah was going to bring us a gauzy new world of love, respect, harmony and “post” political debate? Well, apparently the Madison, Tennessee Country Chairman for the Democrat Party, Robert Hill, doesn’t much care for an elevated form of debate. He’s more about calling people that oppose him Nazis.

The white haired, name calling Demo couldn’t resist going on the local Young Republican’s website and calling anyone that opposes Obama’s socialistic take over of the nation’s healthcare system a bunch of “brown shirts.”

Remember this is the YOUNG Republicans we are talking about here. In essence, this profane Dem octogenarian just jumped on his computer and called a bunch of teenagers and 20 somethings Nazis!

So much for that new, post partisan world of serious debate that team Obama was going to create, eh?

Community Organizing President Rails Against Community Organizing

-By Warner Todd Huston

Didn’t Barack Obama claim that community organizing was the most important part of his early political life? Wasn’t his work for ACORN presented as one of the chief qualifications for his becoming president? So, now that he’s won, how can this administration rail against Americans coming together in community organizations to oppose his healthcare policies? Isn’t organizing good?

This is the same man that during the late campaign for president told his voters to “argue” with your neighbors and “get in their faces.” Now, all of a sudden, this is a president that is urging people to turn in their neighbors for having the temerity of “getting in the faces” of Congressmen that support a government take over of our healthcare system?

Now all of a sudden Obama and his community organizing left wing say it is gauche, even “scary” and “dangerous,” to oppose Obama’s nationalized, single payer healthcare ideas by organizing against them.

New York Mag Sees Palin Under Bed at Night

-By Warner Todd Huston

New York Magazine is so afraid of Palin that it cannot help but imagine grand, wild conspiracy theories even in her choice of New York restaurants. Seriously.

The now ex-guv was in New York this week to meet with her publisher and decided to take a little time from business for a nice dinner at the well known eatery Michaels. The restaurant is a hang out for denizens of the publishing industry so it might seem a natural thing that her publisher would take her to a place where publishers hang out… right?

Not according to New York Magazine. To the scandal inventors of this rag, Palin could only have ulterior motives for daring to go to a restaurant that serves as a hang out for journalists.

Guess she just couldn’t have been hungry, right?

Political Correctness Is Purposely Making The UK Nuttier Than A Fruitcake

-By Ann “Babe” Huggett

Last week, in my article titled “Every Day Is A Bad Hair Day When You Send The Wrong Signals”, I explored the unhealthy appeasement to the Muslims in the UK’s Avon and Somerset Islamic communities by the secular state police force issuing head scarves to its female officers for their use when entering mosques on police business. I argued that by stripping female police and Community Support Officers of part of their uniforms, I held that they effectively lost an important part of the power inherent in those uniforms.

I then went on to mockingly write, “So, police women of Avon and Somerset in the UK and eventually Dearborn, MI and Huston, TX in the US, today it’s the scarf but maybe tomorrow it’s the burqa even topped off with the niqab.” So you can imagine my precognitive shock to find out that this week the South Yorkshire police force in Sheffield, UK actually ordered three of their non-Muslim female police officers to forsake their uniforms entirely and don burqas with two of the three also having to wear the niqab as well!

In what is an appallingly unilateral exercise called “In Your Shoes” geared specifically to understand the Muslim community better, Sergeants Deb Leonard, Deb Pickering and Police Community Support Officer Helen Turner all had to smile and say “cheese” as they sported burqas for a photo op before going out into the streets to be stared at in disbelief by their more rational fellow countrymen. Naturally, the three literally undercover policewomen were accompanied by four Muslim women guides, who eagerly explained Islam to them more than likely figuring that if they are dressing the part then they are ripe for conversion.

-By Frederick Meekins

Barack Obama has taken on the role of chief booze peddler. Hoping to smooth over the controversy that has erupted over the arrest of Henry Louis Gates, the President has invited the professor and the arresting office to the White House for a beer. Given the professor’s temper, is it really a good idea to get him all liquored up?

Henry Louis Gates is hardly the harmless professor the media is making him out to be. Frankly, Gates is to the Ivy League what Jeremiah Wright is to ecclesiastical circles.

At Harvard, Gates is the director of the W.E.B Du Bois Institute for African & African American Research, named after a known Communist. According to a WorldNetDaily profile of this academic subversive, Gates has lured other leftist rabble rousers to campus such as Cornel West and advocates Afrosupremacist positions such as Affirmative Action, reparations, and liberation theology. If one is known for the company one keeps, Americans should be very concerned about what they have let into the White House.

Congress: Do As I Say, But Don’t Expect Me To

-By Warner Todd Huston

Want to see how far our political system has fallen since the bight days of promise in 1776? Check out this quote from Federalist No. 57, published on February 19, 1788, penned by James Madison:

“The House of Representatives … can make no law which will not have its full operation on themselves and their friends, as well as the great mass of society. This has always been deemed one of the strongest bonds by which human policy can connect the rulers and the people together. It creates between them that communion of interest, and sympathy of sentiments, of which few governments have furnished examples; but without which every government degenerates into tyranny.”

What happened to those “strongest bonds” that were supposed to connect the ruler to the ruled? It has disappeared as Congress constantly exempts itself from being forced to live under the rules it makes for the rest of us. A perfect example of this is the opulent healthcare enjoyed by members of Congress and their staffers, opulence that we all pay for and one that far outshines the sort of medical care that we lowly voters can get without great expense.

Liberals Love to Write Conservatism’s Obituary

-By Warner Todd Huston

Did you know that the election of Barack Obama means that conservatism is dead forever more? The New Yorker thinks it is anyway. Its recent piece on the authors of the “Little House on the Prairie” series not only pronounces conservatism likely dead but also imagines the same fate for capitalism itself. This is just another example of how the self-congratulatory, isolated left constantly announces the death of capitalism and conservatism as it has been doing since FDR, our second most socialist president ever, came to power.

So how does one get from talking about the beloved children’s classic of rugged individualists eking out a living in the wild, wide-open wilderness to the announcement that capitalism and conservatism are dead? It’s the sort of trick that only a left leaning publication like the New Yorker can do and it does it well here.

As it happens, the daughter of Laura Ingalls Wilder and co-author of the “Little House” series, Rose Lane Wilder, was in her later life a high profile conservative or libertarian who hobnobbed with the likes of Ayn Rand. In the middle of the 20th century with their history of self-reliance, Rose and mother Laura shied away from the Democrats when FDR was elected because of he advocated statism. Rose Lane called FDR a “dictator” and decried the generous welfare programs that the Democrats were sponsoring.

ATTENTION: ALL HIGH SCHOOL CLASSES OF 2010

-By Vince Johnson

As of August 3, 2009 each senior in High School owes me over $210,977!

If you doubt this, show these numbers to your teacher, or your Senator, or your Representative in the House. Ask them to tell you where it is inaccurate or misleading:
GAO estimate of unfunded liabilities to cover Social Security, Medicare, etc. $53,000,000,000,000. (Trillions) Add the National Debt currently at $11,700,000,000,000 (Trillions)

These add to $64,700,000,000,000 trillion.

Divide by 306,668,748 (estimated population of the US)

And you get $210,977 the amount of money Congress has borrowed directly out of your future. If there are 50 students in your class the total owed by all would be $ 10,548,850! (Millions!) It does not matter that this was done without your knowledge or permission.

What matters is that you will pay for this even if it is immoral to borrow money from kids without their approval.

What also matters is the fact that if you refuse to pay your share, you can be fined or sent to prison or both. Congress has passed laws that make this possible, so be advised: DO NOT COMPLAIN. Be prepared to do your duty and make your tax payments promptly and try to understand that this generation made a huge mistake. We elected politicians on what they promised rather than what they delivered.

All high school seniors should be forewarned that their future is going to be radically different than it was the first 17 years of their lives. Your taxes will be an excessive burden as long as you live!
If you agree, please print and post or pass along to a high school senior.

A Maslow “Hierarchy of Internet Needs”? — Will there be

-By Scott ClelandInternet priorities or a priority-less Internet?

A central policy question concerning the future of the Internet, cloud computing and the National Broadband Plan is whether there should be Internet priorities or a priority-less Internet?

The crux of the grand conflict over the direction of Internet policy is that proponents of a mandated neutral/open Internet insist that only users can prioritize Internet traffic, not any other entity.

To grasp the inherent problem and impracticality with a mandated neutral or priority-less Internet, it is helpful to ask if the Internet, which is comprised of hundreds of millions of individual users, has a mutual “hierarchy of needs,” just like individuals have a “hierarchy of needs,” per Maslow’s famed, common sense “Hierarchy of Needs” theory.

Briefly, renowned psychologist, Abraham Maslow, devised his common sense “Hierarchy of Needs” to explain inherent human priorities, i.e. that some human needs are more important or urgent than others.

White House Website Asking for Informants on Anti-Healthcare Advocates

I guess it shouldn’t be surprising that the Obama White House is now asking the public to snitch on their fellow citizens by sending an email to White House staffers informing them of other Americans that oppose Obamacare. I know what you are saying. You are probably saying that I am just a rabble rousing conservative that is just trying to stir trouble. You are probably thinking that I am taking something out of context.

Well I wish I were.

An August 4 bog post on the White House website is clearly asking for Americans to snitch on their neighbors. The American Left and a Fear of Rabbits

-By Warner Todd Huston

Remember back during the Carter years when that good ol’ president from Georgia was frightened by a killer rabbit? Remember how real men everywhere ridiculed the Man from Plains for being afraid of rabbits? With that incident in mind, I cannot help but feel that the entire, unhinged left is currently in a state of a fear of rabbits. The left is collectively unmanning itself over fear of “the right,” a political grouping that is essentially harmless when compared to the level of faux alarm on the left or even when compared to themselves in years past.

Examples are everywhere, but I will suffice with two for our purposes here. The first is a column by James Zogby in The National. Muslim apologist and lefty alarmist Zogby had his killer rabbit moment in his ridiculously headlined, “Anti-Obama Fringe Scarier Than Ever,” in which he purports to detail how frightening the American right wing is. Sadly for Zogby his efforts end up seeming absurd with his over-the-top concern of the rabbits on the right.

Zogby is all worried over the “scary fringe” of the right as they worry themselves over Obama’s place of birth and his Muslim heritage. Zogby tries his best to spin fear out of some misinformed folks on the right but he fails to prove that anything “scary” is going on in the American right wing. It isn’t for lack of trying, of course — he uses the word “scary,” “nutty,” and “fringe” over and over in a valiant attempt to cajole the reader into becoming alarmed.

Unfortunately for his fearmongering, Zogby doesn’t really give any example of anything “scary.” There is no violence described, no oppression, no powerful discrimination, in short nothing he mentions coming from the right wing is truly scary. Off color? Perhaps. Annoying? Probably to some. But “scary”? No.

In His Own Words: Barack Obama’s Healthcare Lies

-By Warner Todd Huston

The most shocking part of this whole healthcare debate is the lies coming from the left — the leading liar being the president himself — that the “public option” or the government plan isn’t meant to destroy insurance companies and eliminate private heatlhcare plans.

Barack Obama himself has repeatedly said over the years that he wants to see a universal healthcare plan replace all private plans, one administered through government and not employers. Since 2004 Obama has been heard saying that he wants to replace all healthcare with a government run system… until, that is, he became president.

Then, all of a sudden he has eschewed his prior rhetoric claiming that he wants a government run system and decided instead to tell the nation that “nobody is saying” that a government take over of healthcare is the goal with Obamacare.

Of course, he is saying this because he knows that his nefarious, destructive plans will not get past the voters unless he pretends that he doesn’t want to destroy our current healthcare system replaced with a single payer, government only option.

So, he lies.

I wish that there were another way to say this. But this simple fact of the matter is that Barack Obama is a straight up liar about what his plans for healthcare are.

Don’t believe me? Then watch him lie and listen to is own words on the issue…

Old Media Bending Over Backwards to Excuse Obama’s Ratings Fall

-By Warner Todd Huston

Derek Thompson over at the Atlantic seems to be a perfect example of blaming everyone and everything but Obama for the fact that the president’s ratings on his prime time TV pressers have steadily fallen since the first one. It can’t be Obama’s fault! It has to be other reasons. Why, Obama is da schnizzle,The One, the Obammessiah, dontcha know?

Here is what Thompson says of the low ratings that Obama got for his last TV appearance to push his healthcare plan:

Since Obama’s health care press conference notched the lowest ratings of his presidency, the word is growing that talking about health care is sure-fire way to kill your ratings. Health care, after all, is really complicated, and reforming it is even more complicated. What’s more, cable’s preferred method of discussing policy is to bring in two sides and have them “debate” for two minutes, which is a bad way to cover anything simple and a tortured way to explain anything complicated.

Michael Calderone of Politico spoke to a couple studio and radio people and comes away with the distinct sense that everybody considers health care reform very importantly, very complicated, and very tricky to pull off.

Oh, no, it isn’t that the president is losing his appeal. It couldn’t be that people are beginning to realize that the man is an out right liar. It couldn’t be Obama’s fault that his ratings are steadily falling with every new TV appearance. It couldn’t be that he is foolishly over exposing himself and making people sick and tired of him. Why, it MUST be that the healthcare debate is just too darn complicated for the dumb, stupid, lowly people to understand so they are turning off their TVs.

Thompson blames everyone but Obama for Obama’s falling ratings.

‘Think’ Progress Claims ‘Violence’ in Anti-Obamacare Movement

-By Warner Todd Huston

An amusing episode being promulgated by the extremist, left-wing group Think Progress has cropped up recently. The lefty activist group is using a “leaked memo” to smear Dick Armey’s organization FreedomWorks and is trying to imply that anyone that stands against Obamacare is perpetrating “violence and absurdity” at townhall meetings across the country. Does Think Progress have proof of this link or this widely encouraged violence? Not a shred. Is the truth stopping them from pushing their meme? Not a bit.

These lefties are all atwitter because Politico recently reported that right leaning groups opposing Obamacare are rallying their forces to appear at the many upcoming townhall meetings held by the Obama administration and those members of Congress that are soon heading home for the Summer break. It is being termed a “right-wing harassment strategy” by Think Progress.

But Think Progress is right about there being “absurdity” afoot, I have to say. If you want an “absurdity” we might point it out in an extremist, left wing group trying to paint organized protests as somehow illicit! Now that is absurd. Can we take a moment to revel in the hypocrisy of an extremist, leftist group acting aghast that the right would dare gather together in protest? Can we laugh at the bald-faced hypocrisy of an extremist, Marxist leaning group like Think Progress acting as if it is untoward for people to gather together in large numbers to loudly proclaim their druthers on a federal policy? Can we also all remember the many hundreds of anti-war, anti-WTO, and anti-anti protests that have been organized by communist groups, Marxist groups, CodePinkos, and their ilk — groups from the USA and abroad both — protests where thousands of lefties have so often gathered to let their feelings be known to the world?

Anyway, the hypocrisy of a lefty group acting as if organized protest is somehow illicit in light of the left’s long, long history of precisely that sort of behavior is just as hilarious as Think Progress imagining that “think” is something that any of them engaging in.

Why I Must Defend Barbara Boxer

-By Selwyn Duke

We’ve all heard about the little dust-up between Black Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Harry Alford and Democrat senator Barbara Boxer during an Environment & Public Works (EPW) hearing on “green” jobs. Boxer, the chairman of the EPW committee, was trying to refute a report commissioned by Alford’s organization stating that the Waxman-Markey American Clean Energy and Security Act — which I’ll call “cap-and-sap” — would actually cause a net reduction in jobs. So, marshalling her arguments, she cited many sources that support cap-and-sap — among them the NAACP and the leader of 100 Black Men of America.

This didn’t sit too well with Mr. Alford. He responded, “Madam Chair, that is condescending to me. I’m the National Black Chamber of Commerce, and you’re trying to put up some other black group to pit against me . . . . All that’s condescending, and I don’t like it. It’s racial.”

In a later interview, Alford was even more pointed in his criticism, saying that his Boxer match was “like being in Mississippi in 1945” and “vile Jim Crow.” He described the essence of the senator’s comments thus, “Colored boy, what are you doing with this sophisticated report?”

Well, Mr. Alford, tell us how you really feel.

Reuters Attacking Joe the Plumber… STILL!

What is with Reuters and “truth”? Apparently truth is something with which Reuters is wholly unfamiliar. The wire service proved this point once again by yet another attack on Joe the Plumber, that stalwart Ohioan that asked Obama a tax question during the campaign causing then candidate Obama to utter his gaffe about government “spreading the wealth.”

Here is what Reuters said of Joe on July 25:

Reporters later learned that Wurzelbacher did not have a plumbing license, was behind on his taxes, had a real first name of Sam, and was unmarried with a teenage son.

These things are basically lies against Mr. Wurzelbacher, lies that the left has been promulgating since Joe became the subject of smear campaigns because he helped unveil Obama’s socialist outlook on government power.

Shoddy Journalism at Wash. Post Claiming RIght is ‘Frightening Seniors’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Recently in the Washington Post Ceci Connolly did a wonderful job proving that she is a member of the vast left wing conspiracy trying to protect Obamacare but didn’t do such a good job proving her legitimacy as a journalist. At issue is her story about the meanies in talk radio that she is claiming is trying to “frighten seniors” about Obama’s healthcare policies.

The main problem with Connolly’s story is that she offers little proof that talk radio is trying to “scare seniors.” But she did spend an inordinate amount of space explaining away the very Obama policies that are responsible for scaring seniors, namely the end-of-life counseling and healthcare rationing in the bill.

Connolly uses an activist’s rhetoric as if she is confronting “the enemy” right at the outset of her “report.”

One of the Drawbacks to the Internet: The Next Big Thing Factor

-By Warner Todd Huston

There is a major drawback to blogs, the Internet, even up-to-the-minute cable news. Oh, it isn’t a drawback specific to those venues but it is one that makes itself felt sooner and with a woeful result there. I call it “the next big thing factor.” It is that state of being so hungry to post “the next big thing” that good sense and often the facts become less important than being first and loudest with the story.

In the Internet age this problem leads often to the sensational story that deflates on the facts, the “fact” that isn’t one, or the incident that never really happened. Recently a whole bunch of liberals fell for this sort of error and David Freddoso of the Washington Examiner had a bit of fun slapping them around over it.

It seems the nutty left-o-sphere got its panties in a bunch over the “fact” that Representative Michelle Bachmann (R, Minn.) attempted to torpedo a resolution in the House that celebrated the 50th anniversary of Hawaii becoming a state. And why would she do this, you might wonder? Well according to the profane snarks at Wonkette, it’s because Bachmann is a “birther” out to punish Hawaii for having been the non-birthplace of Barack Obama. They just couldn’t understand why anyone would try to postpone such a resolution and decided that there MUST be something nefarious afoot, dontcha know?

Should a 7-Day-Long Job be Counted as a ‘Job Created’ by Stimulus?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Some state governments are playing fast and loose with the stats to “prove” that stimulus money is going to “new jobs” by counting temporary jobs that lasted for as little as seven days as a “new job” credited to the stimulus.

Who cannot agree that counting a temporary job that lasted a mere seven days to the “jobs created” column is a farce? A seven-day -long job is meaningless to job stability and job creation. A seven-day-long job adds nothing long term and barely anything short term to the economy or the nation and is built on a false assumption that the money wasted by government has “done something” for the economy. It is but a shady accounting practice meant to cover Washington’s rear end and nothing more.

In truth, this stimulus money has done nothing but expand government as it is used to fund government programs. It has not stimulated anything but government.

The Media’s Constant Palin Hyperbole

A recent CBS report by Scott Conroy and director of political coverage Steve Chaggaris is typical of the hyperbole to which the Old Media is prone when “reporting” (by that you can read dramatizing) Sarah Palin’s political doings.

This report is not as chock full of it as some others that have utilized over-the-top phrases and rhetoric to beat down Palin, but there are a few here that ring typical of the sort of backdoor slams that the Old Media constantly over use in its Palin coverage.
