Debate Moderator Crowley Lies About Obama’s Benghazi/Terrorism Lies

-By Warner Todd Huston

CNN’s Candy Crowley, the so-called moderator of the second presidential debate for the 2012 elections, misled 60 million viewing Americans in the debate when she wrongfully sided with Obama against Mitt Romney when Romney maintained that Obama refused to call the attacks on our Libyan embassy an act of terror in his Rose Garden address on the incident the day after it occurred.

During the section on Obama’s abject failures on foreign policy, Romney was making the point that Obama took many days before he finally started calling the attacks on our Benghazi embassy an act of terror. But as he was making this point, buttinski Crowley sided with Obama telling Romney he was wrong.

Another Non-Partisan CNN Employee

-By Warner Todd Huston

Occasionally it is interesting to check out the Twitter feeds of employees of the Old Media establishment to see what sort of things they like to banter about on social media. Invariably, it seems, when we do this we find that the member of the media in question isn’t as non-partisan as they pretend to be in their work. Such is the case with Larry Shaughnessy, a producer at CNN’s Washington bureau covering the Dept. of Defense and Veterans Affairs.

A look over Mr. Shaughnessy’s recent Tweets reveals a man that hates Mitt Romney, hates former Sec. of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and loves him some Obama.

Worse, for a man whose job is to report on veterans, he also slammed famed military school, the Virginia Military Institute (VMI), as just a bunch of kids “playing dress up.” No respect at all for these young people, most of whom go on to serve our country.

Of VMI, Shaughnessy said, “VMI ain’t a military instution [sic]. Its a school where the kids play dress up. They are no more required to serve than Yale grads”

Politico Hires Name-Calling Journo Fired From Yahoo!

-By Warner Todd Huston

In the world of journalism, no bad deed goes unrewarded. Take the case of former Washington bureau chief for Yahoo! News, David Chalian. You may recall that he was fired after he was heard saying during the Republican National Convention that Republicans were “happy to have a party with black people drowning.” He may have been fired from Yahoo! for this ignorant statement, but now he’s been hired by Politico.

You’ll recall that the Republican convention started in the midst of a full-blown hurricane, a storm some feared would again swamp New Orleans. Of curse the Old Media was filled with reminiscences of Hurricane Katrina and worries for New Orleans’ minorities was again everywhere. Speculation that the GOP would cancel its convention was also ubiquitous.

The GOP did postpone its opening day, but decided not to cancel the whole show and this caused some left-wing tongues in the Old Media to start wagging that Republicans were obviously racist. Cue David Chalian who was heard on an open mic perpetrating that very calumny.

On August 28, while in an ABC control room, Chalian unleashed his hateful charge, saying: “They’re not concerned at all. They are happy to have a party with black people drowning.”

Wash Post Reporter: Ryan is an SVU Perp of the Week

-By Warner Todd Huston

Washington Post reporter Dan Zak saw a different vice presidential debate than nearly everyone else in the Old Media establishment. Zak saw the debate where Joe Biden was brilliant, Martha Raddatz was fair, and Paul Ryan was like “the perp-of-the-week” on an episode of TVs Law and Order: SVU. That is exactly what he said on Twitter as he watched the debates.

Zak must have thought he was brilliant with this Twitter observation: “35 min in, Biden is Det. Olivia Benson and Ryan is the perp-of-the-week. #SpecialVeepsUnit,” he tweeted.

If you aren’t familiar with the TV show, each week it features yet another sex criminal “perp” that has attacked a little child, raped a woman, or murdered someone. The show is one long cavalcade of sickos, weirdos, and creeps chased by cops that imagine they are above the law employing the sort of shoddy police work that would lead them to be either fired or put in prison themselves.

That wasn’t all Zak had to say about GOP VP nominee Paul Ryan. He also characterized him as a child, Tweeting, “My #VPdebate review coming soon: ‘A man debated a boy Thursday night on national television, and both were ultimately schooled by a woman.’”

CNN’s Soledad O’Brien Raves for Biden/Raddatz Tag Teaming Ryan

-By Warner Todd Huston

Whereas most people in the middle and the right saw Biden as a snorting, chortling, constantly interrupting blowhard and “moderator” Martha Raddatz as Biden’s willing assistant during Thursday’s vice presidential debate, CNN’s Soledad O’Brien and Dana Bash saw “perfect pitch” and a “terrific” performance by the left-wing tag team.

On Friday morning’s Starting Point, CNN’s O’Brien and correspondent Dana Bash were all a twitter over Biden and Raddatz’ work at the debate.

Right out of the gate, O’Brien gushed about Raddatz saying, “I thought she was terrific.”

Bash agreed saying, “Absolutely. If there was a winner because it was a draw between the two candidates, Martha Raddatz. She was commanding. She followed up when she need to. She pressed them on specifics.”

Raddatz’ performance was “perfect pitch,” Bash added.

Bash went on to express total simpatico with Biden’s childish debate performance.

Fox News Channel the Big Winner for VP Debate Viewers

Fox News Channel won the race during the vice presidential debate this week; the ratings race. Fox brought in more than twice as many viewers as MSNBC and CNN… combined. Not only that, but Fox even drew more viewers than each of the big three networks individually.

National Journal Gets Romney Cap Gains Cut Wrong

-By Warner Todd Huston

On October 10, the National Journal slammed Mitt Romney for “favoring the wealthy” with his capital gains tax cut plan. The plan, NJ claims, won’t help middle-income Americans because they “don’t have investment income.” But, apparently Nat’l Journal didn’t bother to look at Romney’s actual plan because their assessment is simply wrong.

Reporting on a Romney rally in Ohio, Nat’l Journal claimed that Romney’s tax plan is one-sided.

But Romney’s proposal as he described it — eliminating tax on interest, dividends, and capital gains — would largely help those living on investment income, which does not include many people in the middle class. The tax break would likely help senior citizens, however, many of whom do live on investment income.

…The wealthy are the major beneficiaries of low taxes on capital gains, dividends, and interest; many middle-income Americans don’t have investment income.

Apparently Nat’l Journal isn’t big on doing its research. The fact is, Romney isn’t proposing lowering capital gains taxes on “the rich.”

CNN Joins Attack-The-Rich Bandwagon

-By Warner Todd Huston

CNN has an interesting story of an immigrant that came to this country from the oppressive socialist nation in which he was born, worked hard to attain the American dream, became wealthy, and dearly wishes for his fellow Americans to avoid the pitfalls of socialism. But instead of celebrating this man’s great success, CNN slams him as “Rich, Worried and Buying Ad Time.”

Thomas Peterffy was born under Soviet oppression in Budapest in 1944. At 21 years of age, Peterffy left his native country and came to America to try and make his way in life.

“As a young boy, I was fantasizing about one day going to America, making a success of myself. The American Dream,” Peterffy told CNN.

He succeeded beyond his wildest dreams in this land of opportunity. In fact, Peterffy succeeded far beyond what he ever could have achieved in the communist country of his birth. Should he have stayed in that oppressed land he could never have become the billionaire he became in the U.S.

‘Slop’: NBC’s Chuck Todd Not A Fan of all These Close Polls

-By Warner Todd Huston

Chuck Todd, NBC’s political correspondent, is not a big fan of all these new polls showing Romney and Obama to be so close. He’s especially down on Scott Rasmussen who has said that he’s been seeing a close race all along, a result that Todd called “slop.”

Amusingly, during his CNBC Squawkbox appearance back on October 3, Todd seemed to imagine that “spending money” equates to good polling. Several times he adamantly repeated that he and his cohorts at NBC spent a lot of money or spend more money than Rasmussen does on polling. Can you just buy good polling, Mr. Todd?

This week Mr. Rasmussen had a chance to respond to Todd’s taunt on Fox News with host Megyn Kelly.

NYTimes: Libya Attack Discussion is the Republican’s Fault?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Surprising to no one, The New York Times agrees with the absurd spin from team Obama that the only reason anyone is talking about the Obama administration’s week worth of lies about the attacks on our embassy in Libya — attacks that resulted in the deaths of four Americans, one of them our own ambassador — is because the Republicans keep bringing it all up in the national discussion.

The Times has decided to ignore the recent hearings about what the Obama administration knew and when it knew it. There’s just no “news” to it, the paper’s editors say. “It’s three weeks before the election and it’s a politicized thing, but if they had made significant news, we would have put it on the front [page],” said Times managing editor, Dean Baquet.

Did Steven Spielberg Say the GOP is Just Like the Slave Holding South?

-By Warner Todd Huston

As he unveiled his epic new movie based on Abraham Lincoln’s civil war era presidency, Steven Spielberg said he doesn’t want his film to become a “political football” in today’s presidential election. But as he talked about it further, it seemed as if he went on to say that today’s Republican party is somehow just like the slave-holding Democrats of the antebellum south.

That’s right, Spielberg implied that today’s Republicans are just like the old south’s racist Confederates.

These comments were delivered during a Q & A at the New York Film Festival on Monday, October 8, after he debuted his new film starring Daniel Day Lewis as Lincoln, Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln, and Tommy Lee Jones as Pennsylvania Congressman Thaddeus Stevens, a zealous anti-slavery activist.

Mike Fleming reports that Spielberg delayed the release of his film until just after the election in order to keep his work out of the current presidential election.

“I just said, please don’t release this until the election is over. I didn’t want it to be this political football going back and forth,” Fleming reports Spielberg as saying.

Of course, it is admirable that director Spielberg wants to make sure that a film based on history is not abused as a “political football” in today’s political contest. Unfortunately, Spielberg, a big Obama supporter, went on himself to use history to make modern political points.

After pronouncing his disdain for abusing history for political points, he did just that, saying:

Morely Safer is ‘Appalled’ By New Media

-By Warner Todd Huston

Last month, broadcast TV lifer Morely Safer of CBS’s 60 Minutes fame appeared on CSPAN and pronounced himself “appalled” by the denizens of the new media.

Citizen journalists aren’t trained well enough to be trusted as a source of news, Safer declared to CSPAN’s Brian Lamb on Sept. 13.

In fact, he’s downright “appalled” by the whole idea of Internet journalism and seems to wish it would all just go away. We need to leave the “reporting” to him and his professional class of “real” journalists, Safer sonorously declared.

The question about citizen journalism was put to Safer after host Lamb showed the aged newsman a clip of former Daily Caller correspondent Michelle Fields. On the clip, Fields was seen celebrating the advent of the new media.

Safer, a Canadian, admitted that he “sounds like a Neanderthal” with his hatred of citizen journalism — which, he said, he’d trust as much as he’d trust “a citizen surgeon” — nonetheless he rejects the idea that mere citizens can be a legitimate source of news reporting.

Daily Beast’s Sullivan: Obama Too Arrogant to Take Campaign Seriously

-By Warner Todd Huston

As the President’s disastrous debate performance from last week continues to reverberate throughout the left, the Daily Beast’s Andrew Sullivan indulged a meltdown equal to, if not surpassing, that of MSNBC’s Chris “Tingles” Matthews whose epic post debate night rant made conservatives smile from coast to coast.

Since last Wednesday’s debate, many voices have dismissed its importance saying that, historically, debates haven’t really been much of a factor. But the left’s incessant gnashing of teeth over Obama’s crash and burn has certainly magnified his poor performance and made that assumption far less axiomatic.

Wednesday’s debate was seen by a record number of viewers, too. 67.2 million viewers saw Obama self-destruct that night, so add that to this week-long post debate hand wringing by liberal commentators and it has definitely spread that misery to untold millions more.

Buzzfeed: Hey, Romney Drove Past a Confederate Flag, He Must be a Racist

-By Warner Todd Huston

Before we get any further into this story, I have to warn you that this is not satire. That having been said, Buzzfeed’s Zeke Miller perpetrated one of the worst attempts at guilt by association ever made. Miller attempted to intimate that Mitt Romney is a racist because his motorcade drove past private property that had a Confederate flag flying on it as he campaigned in Virginia.

You read that right. All Romney did was sit in a car that drove past a Confederate flag and that was something that Miller thought was “news.”

Miller made this trenchant observation on his Twitter feed on October 5.

Romney motorcade just passed a hill flying a large confederate flag in rural SW VA

Wow. Imagine, driving past a Confederate flag in a state that makes millions in tourist money off its intimate connection to American history! Imagine the sheer luck of finding a Confederate flag flying in the one state most associated with the Civil War! Why, the absolute craziness of finding a Confederate flag flying in the state that hosted the Capitol of the Confederate States of America!

The Desolate Wasteland of Post-Apocalyptic Television

Many TV critics and commentators like to say that you can judge the way this nation is feeling about itself and its times by looking at the sort of shows that are playing on television. They say that our mood and our outlook about our present and our future can be understood through the collective programming on the TV.

Well, a look at some of the popular shows now playing or those about to debut on the boob tube might make you wonder if TV has noticed that the country ain’t feeling so great? In fact, it’s downright post-apocalyptic.

Debate Dissembling: Obama’s Own Budget Proves His Deficit Reduction Claims Wrong

-By Warner Todd Huston

As political pundits delve into Obama’s very poor debate performance, not as much attention is being bestowed upon what he actually said on Wednesday evening. In the case of his claims about his budget, few are noticing that the President repeated his thoroughly debunked deficit reduction claims, claims even his own budget plan proves to be false.

During Wednesday’s debate, the President again told the American people that he has a $4 trillion deficit reduction plan that cuts $2.50 for every $1.00 in new revenue. “I’ve put forward a specific $4 trillion deficit-reduction plan,” he said before urging people to go to his website. “You can look at all the numbers, what cuts we make and what revenue we raise.”

The President has made this claim over and over again, but few that agree he is truthfully laying out his plan.

Certainly Republicans have pointed out the fallacies in Obama’s claimed deficit reduction plan. In a recent press release Senator Jeff Sessions (R, AL) said that Obama’s claims are “near-universally discredited.”

After Slamming Palin, NY Times Excited for Up Coming Obama Death Panels

-By Warner Todd Huston

For The New York Times, Steven Ratner had to admit last month that he was pretty darned excited for those Obamacare death panels to get started. “WE need death panels,” he said on September 16. This from the same paper that in 2009 attacked Gov. Sarah Palin for her rhetoric and an Old Media establishment that gave Palin a “lie of the year” award for her claim that Obamacare death panels were coming.

The Times sudden appreciation of death panels isn’t the only bit of hypocrisy revealed in Ratner’s article. His very first paragraph wallows in rank hypocrisy.

Well, maybe not death panels, exactly, but unless we start allocating health care resources more prudently — rationing, by its proper name — the exploding cost of Medicare will swamp the federal budget.

So, not only is Ratner suddenly looking forward to the very death panels his paper mocked Palin for alerting us all to back in 2009, but he’s now openly admitting that the costs of Obamacare will skyrocket unless we start rationing care and telling some people they aren’t allowed to have health saving procedures!

Doesn’t this paragraph prove out what conservatives have been saying about Obamacare since day one? That there will be rationing, that some government agency will be deciding who will live and who will die, that the costs will be ruinous, and that the Democrat’s claims that “everyone will get care” is an outright lie — this is what we’ve been saying from the beginning.

Obama’s Debate Performance: And the Excuses Begin

-By Warner Todd Huston

The prevailing opinion on the President’s debate performance last night from partisan and non-partisan alike is that he did poorly, to say the least. But as to exactly why the President was so taciturn, lackadaisical, distracted, and downright peevish is varied and, frankly, in many cases silly. In fact, a number of the President’s supporters are actually blaming debate moderator, 78-year-old Jim Lehrer.

The voice closest to the President is that of campaign adviser and TV flack Stephanie Cutter who was quick to dismiss moderator Lehrer as an unnecessary part of the event. Ladling out her usual blather, Cutter told CNN that “we feel pretty good about the President’s performance here tonight,” but went on to take a swipe at Lehrer. “I sometimes wondered if we even needed a moderator because we had Mitt Romney,” she said.

But Cutter wasn’t alone. Profane “comic” Bill Maher was as blunt as he usually is on his Twitter feed. “Lehrer sucked,” he carped.

Jim Lehrer, the invisible man?

Sherri Shepherd, of ABC’s The View, Tweeted that someone should “throw a spitball” at Lehrer.

The Huffington Post’s main Twitter feed wasn’t too happy about Lehrer’s work, either, saying: “Mitt Romney and Barack Obama moderated this debate. Where was Jim Lehrer?”

In her post debate wrap up on MSNBC, Rachel Maddow said that Romney spent a lot of time battling both the President and Lehrer. “Romney won every exchange,” she noted ruefully.

ABC’s Stephanopoulos Attempts to Torpedo Romney’s Debate Performance Ahead of Time

-By Warner Todd Huston

ABC’s George Stephanopoulos is doing his part for team Obama to make sure that Mitt Romney’s performance at Wednesday evening’s debate is a disappointment, one that will surely lead to his losing the election in November.

On Tuesday morning’s Good Morning America Stephy sternly warned that if Romney doesn’t exceed expectations in the debates, he’s finished.

Why? Because Romney is under “huge, huge” pressure, Stephanopoulos says. Also because “he’s behind right now” and, obviously, if he doesn’t over perform, why he’ll be considered a failure.

There is always pressure to perform well at debates, granted, but what George Stephanopoulos is trying to do here is set up expectations of a great, sweeping Romney debate victory, one he couldn’t possibly live up to. Stephy hopes to damage Romney’s performance in the minds of ABC’s viewers before he even steps one foot on the stage on Wednesday.

Obama’s 2007 Race-Baiting Video, Admits Being Close To Racist Preacher, Wright

-By Warner Todd Huston

Back in April of 2008 I posted a story showing that Obama was most assuredly closer than he was then claiming he was to the racist Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Tonight the video of the incident that I had a still shot from has finally surfaced. It shows an Obama wallowing in the hateful sort of race-baiting that his flacks have always said he never indulges.

Tonight, Daily Caller posted the nearly 40-minute video of an angry, hectoring Obama calling whites racists, saying that Bush and the whole U.S. government turned its back on the Katrina victims only because they were black.

So much for the president that would bring us all together.

The video also begins with Obama’s little “shout out” to his pastor, Jeremiah Wright.

DC editor Tucker Carlson also appeared on Fox with Hannity.

Something that Tucker said at the very beginning is quite amazing. He notes that the when reporting this story back in 2008, Old Media claimed they were releasing “transcripts” of the speech but the truth is the media only released what the Obama campaign allowed them to put out.

Here is the text of my original post:

Many in the newsmedia are reacting with quite restraint to the revelations of comments by Obam’s racist “spiritual mentor,” Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Jr. Imagine if this were a Republican politician linked to such outrageous talk and you’ll realize how the MSM has been studiously underplaying this controversy. A benefit of the doubt seems to be the rule of thumb for how the media is treating Obama, a benefit that would be denied a GOP candidate.

But, as ABC’s Jake Tapper asked concerning Obama’s knowledge of Wright’s racist rants: What did Obama know and when did he know it? In this posting Tapper finds that Obama was distancing himself from Wright a year ago causing the question to be raised if Obama long ago wondered if Wright would be a liability? But, there is video of Obama lovingly introducing Wright even after that proving not only that Obama is very, very close to Rev. Wright, but also that he was not distancing himself from the man at all.

On June 5th, 2007, Senator Barack Obama spoke before 8,000 people gathered in Hampton University’s Convocation Center. Most of them were pastors and ministers attending a conference there.

Both Sides Set Expectations for Presidential Debates

-By Warner Todd Huston

Both the Romney and Obama camps are attempting to lower expectations for their respective performances in the upcoming presidential debates with both saying the other has an advantage.

In a recent memo to Romney supporters, for instance, Romney adviser Beth Myers noted that the President is a “universally-acclaimed public speaker and has substantial debate experience under his belt.”

“This will be the eighth one-on-one presidential debate of his political career. For Mitt Romney, it will be his first,” Myers warned.

As for team Obama, in his memo the President’s top political adviser, David Axelrod, played the “Obama’s really busy” card trying to play down expectations that he will do well at the debates because he has a lot of duties as President that gives him less time to prepare for debates.

“The challenger, unencumbered by the responsibilities of being the President, has more time to prepare — a benefit of which Gov. Romney has taken full advantage,” Axelrod said.

Wash. Post-Owned Website: Will Romney Reach Out to Racists?

-By Warner Todd Huston

A website owned by the Washington Post, one that caters to African Americans, has a question about the upcoming debates. In yet another outrageous use of the race card, The Root wants to know if GOP nominee Mitt Romney will “reach out to racists” in the debates.

Keli Goff ‘s Root piece is exactly as insulting, racist, and ignorant as that title leads you to believe it is, too.

In Goff’s blinkered opinion, only racists question the inappropriate, 20-year-long relationship between racist Reverend Jeremiah Wright and Barack Obama. Goff’s feverish imagination conjures that racism as Romney’s next move to gain the advantage in this close election contest.

First of all, aside from her own racist premise that all whites are racists enough that re-introducing Rev. Wright into this election will automatically win Romney votes, one has to wonder why this fool would think that this tactic would work in 2012 when it didn’t four years ago?

40th Anniversary Ms. Magazine Says Vote Obama or You’ll Die

-By Warner Todd Huston

Ms. Magazine is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year and it has a very special message for its upcoming fall issue: Vote Obama or you’ll die.

Forty years ago Ms. Magazine featured DC Comic Book Super Heroine Wonder Woman on its cover. In 1972 the main worries for feminists was body hair, cash for performing housework, and Simone De Beauvoir. But 40 years ago it was also about “how women vote” and along with featuring Wonder Woman on the cover, just ahead of the 2012 presidential election, Ms. is repeating that theme.

Ms. Magazine’s 1972 Debut Cover

Only, this time instead of “peace and justice for ’72,” a reference to the Vietnam War, Ms. Magazine is all about another war. Unlike 1972, though, Ms. Magazine’s war for 2012 is not a real war. It is a faux war. It is a “war on women.”

And this war is so intense that Ms. is telling its readers that if they don’t vote the correct way, well, their very lives are in danger.

On the fall 2012 cover underneath a leaping Wonder Woman, we see pleas to “stop the war on women,” and “2012, Vote as if your life depends on it.”

Ms. Magazine’s Fall, 2012 Cover

So, you see, Wonder Woman isn’t the only fantasy element of Ms. for Fall of 2012.

L.A. Times Lays Groundwork to Explain Poor Obama Debate Performance

-By Warner Todd Huston

The first presidential debate is only a week away, but the L. A. Times already seems to be laying the groundwork to explain away a what could be a bad Obama performance in the contest.

In a September 26 article, L. A. Times writer Christi Parsons is already foreseeing the possibility of a rocky Obama performance and she has a reason why it might be so. Her reason why Obama may do so badly? He’s busy.

As far as Parsons is concerned, Obama is at a disadvantage for the up coming debates because he is just so darn busy being president that he has less time for debate practice than does Romney.

“President Obama has blocked out three days to prepare for the October debates, but with the constant pressures that come with one of the world’s most important jobs, aides worry he may not get enough practice at the podium,” Pasrons writes.

So, if Obama does badly, it’s not because he did badly, it’s because being president is just so gosh darn hard. It can’t be Obama’s fault, after all.

Wall Street Journal ‘Corrects’ Source on Obama Event Attendance

Last week a story appeared at The Wall Street Journal’s Washington Wire blog that made an unsupported claim that President Obama packed 18,000 people into a Wisconsin arena that only sports 5,000 seats. At the time it was posted, The Journal did not offer a source for the 18,000 attendee count, but today there has been an addition updating that source.

Now, according to Washington Wire, that source has been identified as Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.

The Wall Street Journal wasn’t the only news outlet that blindly regurgitated the 18,000 attendee claim. Politico and the Associated Press both used the seemingly impossible number.
