For Half The Day, MSNBC Ignored U.S. Embassy Attacks in Cairo

-By Warner Todd Huston

Aside from the 11th anniversary of 9/11, there was no bigger story on Sept. 11, 2012 than the attack made upon the U.S. embassy in Cairo, Egypt. But for half the day on Tuesday, MSNBC didn’t mention the incident.

A careful review of MSNBC’s programming on Tuesday proved that up until 6PM eastern, MSNBC had still not bothered to report the storming of the U.S. embassy.

Late on the morning of Sept. 11, Muslim protesters angry, they claimed, over an American movie that portrays the Prophet Muhammad in an unsavory light, scaled the walls of the embassy in Cairo. The protesters removed the U.S. flag and replaced it with the black al Qaeda flag. Some five hours later, the U.S. embassy in Benghazi, Libya was also attacked. One American was killed and the embassy was burned to the ground.

By 6PM eastern both CNN and Fox News had televised stories about the attacks while MSNBC remained quiet.

NBC Gave Dem’s Convention 25% More Coverage Than GOP’s

-By Warner Todd Huston

A new analysis of the airtime given to the national conventions of our two major political parties over the last several weeks reveals that NBC violated that oft repeated desire for “fairness” by giving the Democrat convention 25 percent more coverage than they did the Republican’s event.

The analysis showed that NBC dedicated 121 minutes to coverage of the Democrat convention, but only 97 minutes to the Republicans. The Today show gave 30 percent more coverage to the Democrats clocking in at 87 minutes for the DNC and 67 for the RNC. The Nightly News also gave a slight edge to the Dems by a four minute margin.

On the other hand, other networks did not perpetrate such disparity.

NBC Skips 9/11 Moment of Silence to Talk Breast Implants with Kardashian

-By Warner Todd Huston

This morning after 8AM Eastern most of the networks observed a moment of silence to commemorate the terror attacks that hit the Big Apple on Sept 11, 2001. But not NBC. No, NBC thought it would be much for fun to talk about boobs with a Kardashian.

ABC, CBS, Fox, MSNBC and CNN all took a moment out of their busy broadcast mornings to observe the moment of silence for those who fell that day.

But NBC skipped the moment of silence and aired an interview with “Momager” Kris Jenner, mother of the famous Kardashian clan. Famous for being Kardashians and for creating ex tapes, that is.

The NBC folks talked breast implants while everyone else was thinking of the victims of 9/11.

Gawker’s Soft Peddling Pedophilia

-By Warner Todd Huston

Recently, Gawker.com, a left-leaning and sometimes profane general interest website, posted a story that makes excuses for child rape, calling it an “orientation” instead of a crime and stating that raping children is “a sexual relationship,” as opposed to the violation that it truly is.

The piece entitled, “Born This Way: Sympathy and Science for Those Who Want to Have Sex with Children,” written by Gawker editor Cord Jefferson, is quite an outrage for its excuse making and its explaining away of pedophilia as a mere “sexual orientation.”

Cord’s piece begins by introducing us to pedophile named “Terry” and we are told that when he was 20 — he’s now 38 — he “began a sexual relationship” with a seven-year-old girl. That a child can engage in a “sexual relationship” is a disgusting characterization but Gawker simply states it as so without protest.

Throughout the piece passive language like this soft peddles child rape. Constantly we are told that sex between adults and children as a “choice.” “Terry” even claims that the sex he had with his seven-year-old niece was consensual and Gawker simply takes his word for it without protest.

Then the piece goes on to reveal the “expert” testimony of a psychologist that claims that pedophilia is a “sexual orientation” just like homosexuality or even heterosexuality.

To Breitbart: Credit Where It’s Due?

-By Warner Todd Huston

In an otherwise interesting piece on the way conservatives set the agenda for media coverage of the Democrat convention and its removal of God and Jerusalem from the Party platform, Slate committed the all too common error of lazy attribution.

In a Sept. 7 piece, Slate noted how conservatives had basically set the agenda for the coverage of the Democrat convention all day on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 4 and 5. This was when it was realized that the Democrats had eliminated both God and Jerusalem being the rightful capital of Israel from their platform.

The Slate piece rightfully notes that Breitbart’s Jeff Dunetz was a source for breaking the news. But Slate gets the site wrong in its attribution. Slate notes that Jeff posted his story at his YidWithALid blog [sic] blog — which is certainly true even though it is actually called YidWithLid blog, no “A” — but neglects that Jeff gave the scoop to Breitbart’s Big Government first.

NBC’s Absurdly Rosy Jobs Reporting

-By Warner Todd Huston

Friday morning’s Today show on NBC did its best to paint the most rosy scenario possible on Obama’s latest dismal jobs report. Attempting to inoculate Obama from this economic downturn, host Matt Lauer said that analysts he had “been reading” claimed that the economy will add up to 12 million new jobs, “no matter who is president in the next four years.”

This has already been the worst economic recovery since The Great Depression, but on Friday Lauer and CNBC analyst Jim Cramer put the best face on it they could with Cramer chipping in that there is “pent-up demand” that is sure to break soon. This disastrous economic and jobs climate is “not such a bad moment,” Cramer claimed.

In fact, Lauer tried to massage the news into a “party atmosphere.”

Weather Channel Ignores Romney Visit to Isaac-Hit Gulf Coast

-By Warner Todd Huston

Now that Hurricane Isaac is in the history books, The Weather Channel, America’s top weather related website, posted a photo essay of the damage left by the storm. The photos depict flooding, destroyed homes, aggrieved residents and there’s also a photo of the visit by President Obama. But one thing there isn’t is any photo of GOP Presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s visit to the Gulf Coast.

The photo essay, titled Isaac Photos: Gulf Coast, does rip your heart out. Seeing all the devastation and seeing the poor homeowners whose lives have been so badly affected by storm Isaac is certainly filled with emotion.

This storm drew sympathy from the nation and the attention of first responders and news folk alike, but it also drew visits by both candidates vying for the White House… not that you’d know that from The Weather Channel’s coverage.

Incognito? Reporters Using Fake Names to Buy Obama Merchandise

-By Warner Todd Huston

Looks like some members of the Old Media establishment have resorted to using false names in order to buy Obama campaign merchandise inside the friendly confines of the media-only areas of the Democrat National convention this week.

Hunter Walker reported about an Obama/Democrat Party souvenir stand that sat inside an area to which only convention goers with media credentials had access and when asked about her take for the night the stand’s minder revealed a startling subterfuge.

Before the amazing revelation, the souvenir seller asked Obeserver.com’s reporter if he wanted any Obama merch but he reminded her that buying campaign stuff amounts to a donation to the campaign and, well, he was a reporter and it just wouldn’t be kosher to do that.

Conventions a Hit on Social Media, Not TV

-By Warner Todd Huston

TV viewing of the GOP convention dropped sharply over its 2008 counterpart and there is little reason to expect that the Democrat convention will fare any better this year. But the Republican’s affair was a big hit on social media and that will likely be mirrored this week for the Democrats.

According to Nielson, TV ratings for the GOP convention tallied to about 30.3 million viewers this year. Compared to 2008’s convention ratings of 39 million viewers, that is a 23 percent drop in viewership.

But online, the GOP convention saw an uptick from the 2008 events. The Republican National Committee reported some 2.8 million viewers via its live streaming video on its Youtube page and, while viewing numbers aren’t known, there were many, many other outlets that offered a live stream of the convention.

Twitter, too, saw a deluge in communications of the event.

HuffPo Scolds Dems for ‘Caving’ On Reinsertion of God and Jerusalem Into Platform

-By Warner Todd Huston

It might appear odd, but Huffington Post seems to be scolding the Democrats for having “caved in” to pro-religion and pro-Israel forces in the Democrat Party for succeeding in having God and Jerusalem put back into the Democrat Party platform after they were removed earlier today.

Clearly proving that there is a great division in the Democrat Party over these two issues, Huffington Post’s headline screamed that the Democrats have become “The Pushover Party” now that God and Jerusalem have been reinserted into the party platform.

What is also clear is that Huffington Post is siding against God and Israel and saying that real Democrats don’t cave to Christians and Jews.

The day has not been good for the Democrat Party. After the Democrats were embarrassed all during the morning and afternoon of Sept. 5 over the unsettling deletions of God and Jerusalem from their platform, a voice vote was called on the floor of the convention to have God reinserted and also to have it reaffirmed that Jerusalem is the rightful capital of Israel.

CNN’s History of Democrat Party Forgets Jim Crow, KKK

-By Warner Todd Huston

CNN took the time just ahead of the Democrat National Convention to put together a little primer on the history of the party and, while they do mention slavery as a prime issue in the party’s early days, no mention is made of its support of Jim Crow, Japanese Internment, or the Ku Klux Klan.

The CNN Explains video only lasts a few minutes, so it is impossible to do a comprehensive history of anything in such a short time, certainly. Even so, the video had a few serious omissions and at least one misleading factoid.

The video begins properly relating the fact that the first President to call himself a Democrat, Andrew Jackson, was a “fierce” supporter of slavery and worked tirelessly to keep the government in Washington out of the people’s business in order to assure the rights of slave owners.

While it was quite right for CNN to note that the Democrat Party began as one chiefly interested in protecting slavery, the video somehow forgets to mention that the Democrats were also responsible for starting the Civil War — the first shots were fired by Confederate forces, after all. Additionally, the video forgets to mention that even after the civil war the Democrat Party sponsored such racist attacks on fellow citizens as Jim Crow, poll taxes to suppress minority voting rights, Japanese internment during WWII, not to mention creation and support of the Ku Klux Klan.

An Example of Assumed Racism, But Was it?

-By Warner Todd Huston

During Wednesday’s Republican convention an incident occurred that was immediately portrayed as an example of Republican “racism.” It was on the lips of every newscaster, in every paper, and on every cable TV show. But was it really an example of racism? There is much room for doubt.

The incident happened to a CNN camerawoman, who happened to be black. Peanuts were thrown at her by some convention goers. These same guys then yelled something to the effect of, “that’s how w treat the animals.”

The two men were not delegates and were not officials of any kind but were simply attendees up in the cheap seats.

This incident was immediately portrayed as racism. An obvious case of racist white men throwing peanuts to the black woman as if she were a monkey.

But was it? There are no reports at all from the two who were thrown out. We have no statements from them as to their intentions and they didn’t yell anything else as far as anyone knows to make their point any clearer.

Newsweek’s Obama Dissing Issue Biggest Seller All Year!

-By Warner Todd Huston

You may recall the recent Newsweek cover that featured a photo of President Obama, mouth agape, coat over his shoulder, appearing above the words “Hit The Road, Barack.” The lefty Old Media establishment just hated that issue. The magazine buying pubic, on the other hand, seems to have lapped it up as the issue apparently has become one of Newsweek’s best sellers.

Magazine Information Network, an organization that tracks national magazine sales, is reporting that early numbers show that Newsweek’s August 27 issue featuring the Obama dissing, “may have just knocked one out of the park on newsstand sales.”

The early read on sales suggests the issue could double Newsweek’s newsstand average, MagNet said. It’s also on track to land among the title’s top three newsstand sellers since 2010, according to MagNet data.

Apparently even iPad sales were through the roof coming in a 4.3 times higher than average.

When asked about their good fortune, Newsweek had no comment.

MSNBC Producer Starts Shoving Match With Hecklers of Chris Matthews

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Old Media establishment doesn’t seem much interested in the story, but apparently a producer for MSNBC’s Hardball With Chris Matthews started a shoving match with a pair of GOP fans who where heckling Matthews over his leg “tingles.”

Host Matthews was taping a portion of his show on an outdoor stage next to the Tampa Bay Times Forum the evening Mitt Romney accepted his party’s nomination when a pair of hecklers started making fun of Matthews’ ill-advised 2008 “tingles” comments.

You may recall Matthews’ silly claim in 2008 that Obama gave him a “thrill” up his leg, a claim that even the windy Keith Olbermann thought was a bit goofy (When Chris said it, Olbermann sarcastically replied, “steady”).

The Atlantic Says GOP Leader Hopes Minorities Don’t Vote, But He Didn’t Say That at All

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Atlantic illicitly portrayed GOP House Speaker John Bohner as saying that he “said out loud he hopes blacks and Latinos ‘won’t show up’ this election,” but a look at what Boehener actually said proves that The Atlantic is purposefully misleading its readers.

In its headline, The Atlantic Wire story for August 27 screams, “Boehner Says Out Loud He Hopes Blacks and Latinos ‘Won’t Show Up’ This Election.”

If John Boehner really did say that he hoped that blacks and Hispanics wouldn’t vote this election that would be quite an incendiary thing to say, for sure. It would rightly bring condemnation down on the Speaker’s head. And The Atlantic is saying flat out that this is what Boehner said.

It wasn’t just the headline, either. Even in its lead paragraph The Atlantic characterized Boehner’s comments as wishing minorities won’t vote. (My bold)

Just Some Horrid Writing at CNN.com

-By Warner Todd Huston

Usually I point out the bias and left-wing lies of CNN, but in this short post I just want to point out that CNN can offer up some really poor writing, too.

In its pre-Thursday GOP convention coverage, CNN foisted this gem on its reading public (my bold):

Republicans’ nearly singular focus on the economy took a back seat Wednesday when Sen. John McCain and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice took the stage to talk foreign policy, a topic Mitt Romney makes little mention of on the stump and that has been largely absent from the national political debate.

Apparently CNN’s writers — and it took three, count ’em, THREE writers to put this mosh out — apparently CNN’s writers don’t have any idea what “took a back seat” even means.

Now Even The Word ‘Chicago’ Is Racist!

-By Warner Todd Huston

In our new media era where everything said, thought, or alluded to is “racist,” we can now add the word “Chicago” to that growing-by-the-minute list of words that are now to be considered racial slurs.

Thanks to MSNBC’s resident “biggest jerk in the room,” Chris Matthews, we now know that just saying Chicago makes you a racist. Because, you know, “there’s a lot of blacks in Chicago.”

This was Chris Matthews’ proclamation as he sought to analyze the current political climate.

Chris Matthews: Yea, well let me ask you about that gentleman. What about now, is this constant barrage of assaults, saying the guy is basically playing an old game of demagoguery politics, where you take the money from the worker bees and give it to the poor people to buy votes. That’s basically what they’re charging him with. Old big-style, big-city machine of 50 years ago.

They keep saying Chicago by the way, have you noticed? They keep saying Chicago. That’s another thing that sends that message – this guy’s helping the poor people in the bad neighborhoods, screwing us in the burbs.

John Hielemann: There’s a lot of black people in Chicago

That’s right. Now you too can be a racist anytime you mention the Windy City. Chris Matthews and his smirking, self-satisfied cast of racebaiters have decreed it.

CNN’s ‘A Team’ Rather Do Hurricane Coverage Than RNC Convention

-By Warner Todd Huston

Something interesting to note about the front half of this week’s coverage of the news over at CNN is that the network’s A team reporters — Soledad O’Brien and Anderson Cooper — have for the most part eschewed the GOP convention preferring to stand in the winds of hurricane Isaac rather than be faced with covering Republicans.

For most reporters, when they are told they are doing storm coverage, it consists of standing in the rain and winds to yell into a mic about the wrath of Mother Nature. And it’s usually considered an unwelcome assignment, too.

Think about on-site weather coverage by your local TV news station and you’ll recall that the correspondents that are standing in the wind and rain are never the A team news anchors. As the A team is always sung as a bug back at the studio, usually it’s some low ranking reporter or reporterette — the ones always doing the 100 birthday stories or the lost dog stories — that are sent out to stand in the harsh weather.

But not CNN. No, this week two of CNN’s top talents were the ones standing in the churned surf and 100-mile-per-hour winds to report about hurricane Isaac, a job usually given to reporters on the lowest rung.

Left Said Right’s Linking Katrina to God was Terrible But Left Linking Isaac to God is Fine

-By Warner Todd Huston

In 2005 after hurricane Katrina hit the gulf coast like a sledgehammer, several folks on the right side of America’s political aisle suggested that the devastation the storm inflicted on New Orleans was somehow a punishment imposed on the city by God. Most on the right condemned the remarks. The left, of course, went apoplectic in condemnation.

But, in 2012, apparently linking the wrath of a hurricane to God was suddenly perfectly fine for Democrats and their sycophants as Isaac bore down on the Republican convention in Tampa, Florida.

As hurricane Isaac showed signs of leaving Tampa behind, the Jersey Star-Ledger proudly proclaimed that no one on the left was blaming Isaac on a vengeful God. Sadly, the Star-Ledger didn’t bother to take even a cursory look around to see if any actually did. And of course several left-wingers did link the storm to God.

To name just a few who made the connection:

Tingles Matthews: ‘If I Were Obama, I’d Marry’ Bill Clinton

-By Warner Todd Huston

Can MSNBC’s Chris Matthews make himself any more of a laughing stock? This slobbering sycophant doesn’t just stop with the thrill he gets up his leg at the mere sight of Barack Obama, now he’s having fantasies that if he were Obama he’d “marry” Bill Clinton!

No, we are serious.

One has to wonder why people like Mathews have any credibility at all for the childish hero worship they engage in for Democrat leaders. As Matthews sits gushing like a 12-year-old schoolgirl, moon-eyed over a crush on mere political leaders one has to wonder how his “analysis” could be possibly taken seriously by anyone.

Matthews and his fellow MSNBCers simply have no credibility whatsoever. No wonder NBC is trying so desperately to distance itself from its cable cousin. It’s a bad taint to be brushed with, isn’t it?

Obama’s Negative Campaign Excused as ‘High Stakes of Campaign’

-By Warner Todd Huston

The lengths to which the media will go to excuse the entirely negative campaign that President Obama is running seems to know no bounds. The latest is the dismissal of the interference that Obama and his minions are planning during the GOP convention. It is being excused away as if he has to engage in the negative attacks, as if some outside force is making him do it.

Not only is Barack Obama running the most all around negative campaign in many decades, he’s about to break another tradition of campaign civility.

In the past, Democrats have kept a low profile during the GOP nominating convention and when the Democrat Party held its convention, the GOP would similarly remain quiet. This was, of course, a gentlemen’s agreement each civilly allowing the other to have their moment in the spotlight.

“Traditionally, there was a kind of courtesy extended to the party having the convention — the [other] party would basically stay out of the public eye,” Ross Baker, political scientist at Rutgers University told The Hill.

But not this time. This year Obama is about to embark on a tactless, mean-spirited series of visits to Florida during the GOP convention quite despite the civil comportment of past candidates on both sides. This is a break of the protocol that has existed for decades and proves that Obama is really running a gutter campaign.

CNN’s Important GOP Convention News: Strippers Readying for Convention

-By Warner Todd Huston

CNN has a habit of getting to the real meat of a story, finding all the most important angles, and its coverage of the GOP convention is no exception. CNN has a reputation to burnish by finding only the most important convention stories and with its latest story about how an important sector of Tampa is readying for the convention, it appears the cable channel really is at its hard hitting best. What important sector is under the CNN microscope? Tampa’s strip clubs, naturally.

Of all the important stories that CNN could pick to investigate, strip clubs is where the venerable “news” leader goes?

CNN’s opening paragraph really goes for the salacious right off the bat, too.

Go-Go and Ezili are dancing cheek to cheek on a Friday night. That is to say they’re spinning, glute to glute, on a polished chrome pole at a strip club.

Really? Dancing “glute to glute”?

Detached ‘Journalist’ Accidentally Admits He’s Part of Obama Chorus

-By Warner Todd Huston

Most “journalists” like to pretend they are separate from mere politics, but apparently MSNBC’s uni-named Touré doesn’t. He seems to assume he isn’t merely observing and reporting on President Obama, but is part of Obama’s team. We might assume this by his on-air Freudian slip delivered to us on Wednesday, August 22.

On MSNBC’s The Cycle, Touré made a telling mistake while disgorging his usual Obama talking points. During the discussion, Touré said that “we” had “succeeded in defining Romney early.”

“We,” Touré? Who’s we?

The discussion had turned to the political ads for this campaign cycle when Touré spoke up saying (my bold):

I mean, there’s only 24 hours in a day, Krystal, so even if you unleashed a billion dollars of ads in October, you can’t run 25 hours. But I mean we have – or the Obama campaign has – succeeded in, or attempted to succeed in, defining Romney early when Romney was undefined for many voters. So, I mean, that perhaps would be a value of June, July advertising, right?

Apparently Touré imagines himself to be part of the Obama flack machine whose job is to destroy Mitt Romney and now his veep pick, Paul Ryan. So much for being a detached journalist merely reporting on the news. Touré apparently is a partisan member of team Obama as opposed to any sort of journalist.

George Orwell Statue ‘Too Left-Wing’ Says… BBC?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Apparently the most left-wing, government-supported media conglomerate in all of the British Empire, The British Broadcasting Corporation, has refused permission to place a statue of George Orwell at its new facilities in London. Why? Because George Orwell, famed as the author of novels Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four, is “too left-wing” for the Beeb.

Upon reporting the news, The Telegraph was a bit taken aback by BBC Chief Mark Thompson’s proclamation that one of Britain’s most famous modern authors is unsuitable to represent the broadcaster. After all, the BBC is considered a bit left-wing itself.

“Mr Thompson’s remark will surprise critics of the BBC, who have long accused the corporation of liberal bias,” The Telegraph dryly says.

Apparently, BBC head Thompson passed this judgment on Orwell, whose real name was Eric Arthur Blair, while at a BBC reception earlier this year. Thompson was cornered by Baroness Joan Bakewell, a supporter of the statue, and pressed on erecting a statue to the famous author and journalist. But the Beeb director instantly dismissed the idea saying, “Oh no, Joan, we can’t possibly. It’s far too Left-wing an idea.”

The decision seems to be set in stone for now as it has been confirmed that the BBC has officially nixed the idea of an Orwell statue.

Left Media Says Augusta National Let the Wrong Kind of Women Into Their Club

-By Warner Todd Huston

Once again we get the hypocrites on the left claiming that conservative women aren’t real women after the decision by Augusta National Golf Club to accept Condoleezza Rice and South Carolina billionaire Darla Moore as their first female members.

On August 20, The Nation magazine, a left-wing staple, engaged in dehumanizing, or at least de-womanizing, Condi Rice and Mrs. Moore after it was announced that they were each honored with Augusta’s two first memberships to women, a decision which broke the club’s long-standing rule against allowing female members.

In a shallow piece of politics-based femicide, Dave Zirin discounted Rice’s membership into Augusta as any sort of victory for women.

“Please forgive me if I don’t join the chorus of cheers,” Zirin carped. “Rice and Moore are not twenty-first-century Jackie Robinsons, and their acceptance into this bastion of exclusion has nothing to do with women’s liberation and is utterly disconnected from the reality of daily life for millions of American women.”

Obama Stimulus Bucks Paid for Advertising on MSNBC

-By Warner Todd Huston

Jim McElhatton of the Washington Times has revealed that in 2009 Obama’s Dept. of Labor used Obama stimulus bucks to fund advertising on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann shows.

We all thought the stimulus was a failure but I guess Obama really did stimulate someone’s economy.

The advertisements were created to flog Obama’s so-called “green training” job programs and were handled by the PR firm McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations LLC at a cost of $495,000 to the taxpayers.

Two video ads ran for two months, 14 times a week in 2009 during Countdown With Keith Olbermann and The Rachel Maddow Show.

In a joint email statement to The Times from two Labor Department spokesmen, David Roberts and Michael Volpe, officials said the money was used for outreach efforts to raise awareness among potential employers about the Job Corps’ green training in career areas, including automotive, advanced manufacturing and solar-panel installation.

Records seem to show that the number of jobs created with the program was zero. Nadda. The big goose egg.

Obama Programming Media to His Favor

-By Warner Todd Huston

Obama threw the White House press corps a bone on Monday by appearing for 20 some minutes and taking a grand total of four questions from those members of the Old Media whose official job is to report from the White House.

This means that the President has taken about six serious questions from the press since June. But this doesn’t mean he’s taken no other questions from the press. Unfortunately, the questions he has taken have not been from a free and open press but have been pre-programmed by The One himself.

While ducking the supposed serious reporters in the clubby WH press corps Obama has been on a whirlwind tour of morning zoo radio shows, entertainment media like Entertainment Tonight, and has allowed puffball interviews from down-the-line, local media outlets where he is sure no serious questions will be asked.

Why is he sure he’ll face no serious questions? Because he has forced each and every one of these “interviewers” to stick to pre-approved questions that he wrote for them himself. Worse, those puffballers aren’t even trying to pretend that they are conducting serious interviews, fully admitting that the White House programmed their face time with the President.

The Atlantic Wants to Kill Boy Scouts Like Rabid Dogs

-By Warner Todd Huston

Remember how the far left in America has said since the rise of the Tea Party that the right is awash in “violent rhetoric”? Does the left, though, think that it might be a tad “violent” to propose killing the Boy Scouts like one would kill a rabid dog? Because that is what a columnist for The Atlantic has proposed.

James Hamblin, the magazine’s health editor, proclaimed his desire to kill Boy Scouts based on his distaste for their recently re-affirmed policy of refusing to admit openly gay members. Hamblin obviously feels totally justified in using violent, even hateful rhetoric to attack the Boy Scouts merely because he disagrees with them.

Boy Scouts is an organization that was and is so close to being great. Remember when they had to put Old Yeller down because he got rabies? It’s not like he was a bad dog, but he got a brain infection and he tried to eat Travis

Apparently the First Amendment only applies if you agree with gays?

It should be noted that Hamblin posted his desire to kill Boy Scouts the day after another gay activist tried to do just that, kill people with whom he disagrees. Hamblin posted his hatemongering screed the day after a gay activist entered the Washington DC headquarters of the Family Research Council intent on mass murder.

Hamblin next went on a hyperbolic trip of accusations that the Scout’s policy will “cause.”

Ryanitis: Dowd Loses Her Delicately Balanced Mind in Ryan Fearmongering

-By Warner Todd Huston

Usually I don’t write much about wholly meaningless people, but on Saturday, August 18, New York Times screedist Maureen Dowd turned in a particularly unhinged performance that just screams to be discussed. It might also scream that MoDowd’s Ryanitis is at such an advanced case of virulence that she might just need professional help to get over it.

MoDowd begins her piece discussing the prescient, important political theories of that highly consequential “metal rap guitarist,” Tom Morello. You may know — or you may not care — that Mr. Morello is part of the band Rage Against The Machine, a group that has been so vital on the music scene that they haven’t put out an album since the year 2000. I guess they are still hiding from the coming millennial bug that is sure to destroy the world as we know it.

Anyway, Mo quotes Mr. Morello’s hatred for all things Paul Ryan and Republican as if the opinion of yet another extremist, left-wing “entertainer” is something of note, but she soon abandons Morello’s ramblings to ramble on a bit herself.

What seems to get Mo’s inner goat the most appears to be that Romney’s pick of Paul Ryan has excited the conservative base. Apparently she finds this approval appalling.
