Who is Footing Wisconsin Fleebagger’s Bills?

-By Warner Todd Huston

The expenses for the Fleebagging Wisconsin Democratic Senators are mounting. It’s been about a week’s worth of expenses since they’ve gone on the lamb. So, who is paying for all this? There has been rampant speculation that third party donors and union lobbyists have been slipping these Wisc. State Senators some money to pay their fleebagging costs. If they are this is clearly illegal.

The relevant Wisconsin statue is from Subchapter III, Chapter 13, Wisconsin Statutes (13.625), the prohibited practices section.

(1) No lobbyist may:
(a) Instigate legislative or administrative action for the purpose of obtaining employment in support or opposition thereto.
(b) Furnish to any agency official or legislative employee of the state or to any elective state official or candidate for an elective state office, or to the official’s, employee’s or candidate’s personal campaign committee:
1. Lodging.
2. Transportation.
3. Food, meals, beverages, money or any other thing of pecuniary value…

There is also a chance that these senators are using their campaign cash to pay their expenses. And if they are, the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board says that this is OK.

American Majority Activist/Candidate Training

-By Warner Todd Huston

I just got back from sitting on the new media discussion panel at the American Majority Candidate Training session held in Palatine, Illinois, a northern suburb of Chicago.

On the panel we discussed things such as how candidates should approach the new and old media alike, how should candidates handle interviews, and should candidates stop issuing press releases (no, would be the answer to that last one, there).

On the panel with me was Keith Liscio, Fran Eaton of Illinois Review, and acting as emcee for the panel was Collin Colbert of Cor Strategies.

Left-Wing Union H8ters Update

-By Warner Todd Huston

Today we have two examples of union thugs acting like, well, union thugs. We have two examples in Ohio and one in Wisconsin, two hotbeds for union whiners of late.

The first one is the tale of a leftist protester arrested for calling in a bomb threat to an aviation business in Eu Clair, Wisconsin a few hours after Governor Scott Walker appeared there to give a speech.

The Chippewa Herald reports that local resident, Patrick J. Knauf, 43, of Eau Claire, called in the threat. Knauf has been involved in the union-sponsored protests of Republican Walker and himself appeared for a recent protest held at the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport which is right next to the company in question.

Teacher Thugs Cause $7.5 Million in Damage to Wisc. Capitol Bldg

-By Warner Todd Huston

Not only are they ripping off Wisconsin’s taxpayers through their lavish salaries, pensions, and benefits, now government employees and their supporters are causing even more expenses born by Wisconsin’s working poor and middle classes because they have caused $7.5 million in damages with their protests at the Wisconsin State capitol building in Madison.

According to reporting by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel the damages to the capitol and its grounds have been estimated at $7.5 million.

Roskam Statement on February Jobs Report

From the office of Republican Congressman Peter Roskam (IL, 6th District)…

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Peter Roskam (R-IL), Chief Deputy Whip, issued the following statement after the Department of Labor released their February jobs report:

“Today’s jobs numbers indicate that our economy is showing slight signs of recovery from the failed policies of the last few years, but there are far too many Americans still out of work. Unemployment is still well above eight percent over two years after the failed ‘stimulus’ – due to the trillions in wasteful spending and debt and the constant threat of higher taxes under Democrats’ rule.

“From day one of our Majority, Republicans’ number one focus has been to remove the barriers to job creation and today’s report shows that our efforts are starting to work. From preventing job-crushing tax increases this past December, to voting to cut Washington’s spending in a meaningful way, to just yesterday passing the repeal of an onerous mandate on small businesses, Republicans are working to restore certainty to the marketplace.

“Yet millions of Americans are still struggling to find a job. And unfortunately for the millions that remain out of work, Washington can’t get out of the private-sector’s way fast enough. We need to continue to focus on cutting Washington’s spending and debt and restoring certainty to the marketplace through initiatives like reforming our tax code and passing the stalled free trade agreements. These reforms will create a better environment for the private sector to create jobs.”

Some Questions of Sen. McCaskill’s Ethics and Union Ties

-By Warner Todd Huston

Is Missouri’s Democrat Senator Clair McCaskill truly trying to “help” workers, or is she a bought and paid union shill in Washington D.C. One man wonders with an open letter to the senator.

In the letter, the writer, a union member, is wondering just who the heck is pulling McCaskill’s strings where it concerns her involvement in the doings of the Association of Professional Flight attendants (APFA).

I am not posting this to support the letter’s writer but to show that all is not well in uniondom and the Democrat Party.

Iowa State University Uses ‘Non-Partisan’ Programs for Hyper Partisan Union Support

-By Warner Todd Huston

Now, to you and me the word “non-partisan” would mean that no political position should be advocated. Sadly, to the left-wingers that run Iowa State University, “non-partisan” seems to mean just another opportunity for pushing a hyper partisan, left-wing, union-supporting message on students because the union thugs at ISU are now using the Student Ambassadors program to push the union’s political positions quite despite that the charter governing the program specifically says that it is to be a non-partisan affair.

Iowa recently elected a Republican governor to office and he is facing the same budget crisis that every other governor is facing due to the profligacy of past Democrat administrations and their cozy, parasitic relationship with the government employee unions. As a result of the budget crunch Governor Terry Branstad has been pushing some very modest budget reforms for Iowa. This, of course, has the elites in the government employee unions up in arms. They don’t want to see their gravy train grind to a halt. This includes the mis-educational establishment in Iowa — as it does in every other state.

Now, ISU has a student government program called the ISU Ambassadors. These “ambassadors” are supposed to connect students with university and state government, or as the website says, to serve as a “connection between Iowa State University, the state legislature, and Iowa communities.”

Our Modern Universities: Live Sex Shows in the Classroom

-By Warner Todd Huston

So, what do you get for $500 an hour if you are Northwestern University Professor John Bailey and you’re looking for a new way to teach your class about sex? Apparently you get a live sex show right in the classroom where a woman is impaled with a sex toy jammed on the end of a reciprocating power saw. Nice way to spend university donor’s money, isn’t it?

Professor Bailey and his fist full of university cash paid one Kevin Melvoin-Berg to bring a woman and her “fiance” into the classroom where she was brought to orgasm with the aforementioned powertool turned sex toy. Melvoin-Berg runs a Chicago area touring company called Weird Chicago where customers are taken on a tour of all the strangest places in the city. Those “weird” places include areas where there have supposedly been ghost sightings, 20s era gangland sites, serial killer sites, and old prostitution sites in the city. This multitalented character bills himself as a “psychic detective and ghost hunter,” as well. Yes, he’s just the sort of legitimate expert that a university should turn to in order to teach students about human sexuality, ya know?

Like a good educator, Professor Bailey took the intellectual road to defend his inclusion of live sex shows in his class room, too. As he told the Daily Northwestern,”Sticks and stones may break your bones, but watching naked people on stage doing pleasurable things will never hurt you.”

Oh, this prof is way too intahlekshual for me, I have to say.

Roskam Celebrates Repeal of 1099 ‘Mistake’

-By Warner Todd Huston

“Well, this is all about removing the barriers of job creation – that’s the theme of this Congress. That’s where the over whelming amount of energy is going.

“If you think about it, the Democrats made a mistake last Congress didn’t they? They decided to rush a bill through, they decided that they were going to truncate hearings, they decided that they were going to write a bill in the Speaker’s office; and ultimately a bad process yielded a bad result because, low and behold, a draconian requirement was placed on small business.

“Everybody seemed shocked, and appalled, and surprised when they woke up and found that it was in there, with the exception of the small business community that said, ‘if you do this, it’s going to have an adverse impact on job creation.’

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-11) today released the following statement on H.R. 4, the Small Business Paperwork Mandate Elimination Act of 2011, legislation that would strip the 1099 requirement on businesses. H.R. 4 passed the House by a vote of 314 -112:

“Today’s House passage of the 1099 repeal brings us one step closer toward rolling back one of the most illogical requirements that Washington Democrats snuck into the health care bill last year.

“This legislation is a significant step toward restoring confidence in our economy for small businesses as well as the taxpayers and would reduce federal spending by $20 billion over ten years and reduce taxes by $19.7 billion.

Another Unhinged Wisconsin Teacher’s Obscene Hatred Forced on the Kids

-By Warner Todd Huston

UPDATED: Teacher sends his hate down the memory hole, deletes blogs

Racine middle school teacher Jack Senzig is exactly the sort of person that makes all Wisconsin teachers look bad. His selfishness and hatred is so palpable that it seems his very existence is now dedicated to disgorging it all upon his family, friends, and, worse, his students. In fact, his hatred for everyone that disagrees with him has gotten so bad that he cannot resist forcing images of torture, murder, and evisceration onto his students.

This cretin has major issues, folks, and he’s a teacher of children.

Thanks to Real Debate Wisconsin we find the disgusting imagery that this “teacher” is disgorging on the various websites he operates, sites that his students and friends visit.

Texas Abortion Centers Killing Teen’s Babies Without Informing Parents

-By Warner Todd Huston

Texas has a parental notification law for abortions. Underage teens are not supposed to be allowed to have the procedure until her parents are made aware of the crisis. Unfortunately, it has been discovered that many abortion mills in Texas are breaking the law and killing the babies of under aged girls without informing parents.

But there are more violations than just that. A three-month-long investigation by a pro-life group has also found that medical records are routinely and illegally destroyed and hazardous medical waste is commonly disposed of illegally.

LifeNews.com reports that Operation Rescue has announced that it has identified several abortion clinics that have violated regulations imposed by the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Roskam On Senate Passing House Short-Term CR

From the office of Congressman Peter Roskam (Ill., 6th)…

WASHINGTON – Rep. Peter Roskam (IL-06), Chief Deputy Whip, issued the following statement after the Senate passed the House Republicans’ two-week CR that cut $4 billion:

“I applaud the Senate for passing the House Republicans’ plan to avoid shutting down the government while also cutting $4 billion in spending. With two extra weeks, the Senate now has more than enough time to debate and vote on the original seven-month continuing resolution that cut $100 billion – important cuts that begin to remove barriers to job creation. Since the Senate has now accepted the premise that we need to cut $4 billion over two weeks, they should easily support the seven-month CR which cuts spending at the same rate. My constituents have made it very clear they want Congress to tighten its belt, live within its means, and reduce spending and regulations to remove barriers to job creation.”

Roskam, however, says we aren’t done. In a recent Op Ed in The Hill Roskam wrote:

Obama Says Gov’t Employees Not to Blame, Yet in 41 States They Make More Than Everyone

-By Warner Todd Huston

In a recent interview with Channel 4 TV News in Milwaukee, President Obama denied that government employees are responsible for the “budget problems” that the nation faces and that employees such as those in Wisconsin are not to blame. We shouldn’t “vilify” them, he said. Yet, seeming to contradict Obama’s claims USA Today has reported that in 41 states government employees make more on average than workers in the private sector.

In a fine demagogic manner Obama told Channel 4 that we need to understand that these public employees are “our friends and neighbors.”

Roskam Urges Democrats to Join in Spending Cuts While Majority of Dems Vote Against Pelosi on Cuts

-By Warner Todd Huston

Significantly 104 House Democrats voted in favor of the GOP led temporary budget plan that is now on its way to the Senate. This majority of House Dems voted against former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D, Calif.) who voted against the cuts. Even Dem. Number two man Steny Hoyer (D, Maryland.) voted in favor of the GOP’s continuing Resolution budget plan.

The remaining moderate Democrats that were not swept from Congress in the 2010 midterms are worried that Pelosi is marginalizing herself by catering to the far left and not trying to appeal to the centrist voters that fled for the GOP.

On Tuesday I spoke to House Majority Chief Deputy Whip Congressman Peter Roskam (R, Illinois) and he said that this vote was an important first step toward a more fiscally responsible budget. It was also important for the legitimacy of the GOP led House, too. “Imagine how the media would be spinning this if we didn’t take this step toward cuts,” he said.

Kinzinger Votes to Cut $4 Billion to Keep Government Open, Urges Obama to Act on Trade

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-11) released the following statement on today’s bipartisan House vote to cut $4 billion in government spending and keep the government open through March 18, 2011.

“Today, the House passed legislation that cuts $4 billion in wasteful spending and will keep the government running for another two weeks. It is high time that we cut up the government’s credit cards and draw a hard line to stop the government from overspending which is hampering job creation.

“However, two weeks worth of spending cuts is simply not enough to sustain our economy, which is why ten days ago, the House passed H.R. 1, legislation that would fund the government through the end of the 2011 Fiscal Year.

Village of Palatine More Than Doubles $100,000+ Employee Club

From the Palatine Tea Party…

(Palatine, Illinois) – The Village of Palatine more than doubles the number of Village employees making over six figures from 2009 to 2010. In 2009, using the Medicare wages and tips off the Village of Palatine employee W2’s 43 of 423 employees made $100,000+. In 2010, 88 of 418 employees are making $100,000+ for 2010.

For those 88 employees making $100,000+ for 2010 their average increase was 14.85%. Based on the economic conditions these increases appear questionable. These 88 employees have an average of 17 years of service with the Village of Palatine.

RIFs, Grifters and Reality

-By Larry Sand

Excessive teacher hiring invariably leads to layoffs; teachers need to understand this trap and protect themselves.

We are now in the midst of RIF season. In California and elsewhere, when the economy is unstable, Reduction in Force (RIF) notices must go out to teachers by March 15th. These notices apprise teachers that they may be out of a job come June. School districts don’t know in March what their budget will be for the next school year, so they typically plan for a worst case scenario. It’s almost unheard of that all teachers who get the notices actually get laid off, but some will, and teachers must be notified if there is any chance they will lose their jobs.

When the school districts send out the notices, the teachers unions angrily point fingers at the district, insisting that they cut the bureaucracy instead and suggest that taxes should be raised rather than cutting back teachers. What the districts and the unions don’t say is that they are the problem; they are complicit in the process whereby teachers lose their jobs.

Greed Before Prudence

-By Thomas E. Brewton

Wisconsin syndicalists are prepared to destroy organized government, if necessary, to continue looting the public treasury.

The spectacle of concerted strikes by teachers, other public employee unions, and by Democrat/Socialist Party legislators in Wisconsin is a throwback to the syndicalist origin of mass industrial unions in the United States. Such actions aim at forcing the state into financial ruin, if necessary, to keep and to increase the hugely disproportionate and unmerited flow of public funds channeled to public employees’ unions.

Wisconsin historically is dead center in the American syndicalist history of industrial union violence and extortion. Milwaukee’s Victor Berger was a founder of the American Socialist Party and the first Socialist Party candidate to be elected to Congress. Berger’s co-founder, Eugene V. Debs, also was a founder of the IWW (see below).

Ill. Attny Gen to ‘Out’ Illinois Gun Owners

-By Warner Todd Huston

Recently the Associated Press asked the Illinois State Police for its list of Illinois gun owners. The police refused saying that the release of the names and addresses of all those registered firearm owners in Illinois would be a violation of their privacy but Illinois Attorney General Democrat Lisa Madigan disagrees with the police and has ruled that the list should be released to the press.

In Illinois anyone that wants to buy a firearm or wants to purchase ammunition and related supplies must register and obtain a Firearm Owner’s ID card (or a FOID). The card is also necessary for hunters that use firearms. Citizens do not have to get one of these cards in order to be allowed to have a gun, but they need one to legally purchase and buy supplies for them in the state. It is this registry that the press wanted released.

Democrat Attorney General Lisa Madigan, daughter of the state’s powerful Democrat majority leader Michael Madigan, has decided that the privacy concern is “invalid” undermining the State Police’s reasoning of r refusing to release the list. Madigan’s office released a letter to the press on Monday evening, February 28.

Currently there are no state laws that would prohibit the release of the registry but some Republican-sponsored bills are sitting idle in the House of Representatives.

The State Police have not announced what they intend to do from here.

This move is obviously a move by Democrat Madigan to intimidate Illinois gun owners hoping to make them fear that their names and addresses will suddenly be released to the media.

Left-Wing Group Takes Down Conservative Website — Petty Little Children Affecting Nothing

-By Warner Todd Huston

The left-wing Internet-based group calling itself “Anonymous” briefly took down the website of the conservative activist group Americans For Prosperity on Sunday, Feb. 27. Yet all the sturm und drang signifying… what? Me thinks that “Anonymous” is reading too many comic books.

Amusingly, with the Denial of Service (DNS) attack “Anonymous” imagines themselves striking a blow for the oppressed, or something. “Anonymous hears the voice of the downtrodden American people,” they sonorously tell us on their website. The amusing thing to me is that they imagine the oppressed are government employee union members. Only, here is the thing… people that work for the government are on average the best paid people in America. They have the best benefits, the earliest retirement ages, and the cheapest healthcare in the entire country — cheapest to them anyway, not to us the taxpayers. It is a fact that government employees are the new elites in America today. It is also a fact that they live high on the hog off the backs of the working poor.

So who the heck do these fools in “Anonymous” think they are come to the aid of?

Government Employee Unions Undemocratic, Unfair, Unsustainable

-By Warner Todd Huston

A lot has been said about the thuggish behavior of these teachers in Wisconsin and other union toughs across the country who have been caught on tape calling people Hitler and dictators, and attacking peaceful Tea Partiers. The behavior of union supporters has been ignorant to say the least. But as we’ve focused on the behavior of these ignoramuses, we’ve also neglected to explain just why their unions are illicit in the first place.

To start with we should remind everyone that government employees have not always been allowed to unionize. Collective bargaining for pubic employees only started in 1958 after New York Mayor Robert Wagner signed what came to be called “the Little Wagner Act” allowing city workers to unionize. In fact, collective bargaining itself was only legalized even in the private sector in 1935 when Wagner’s own father, New York Senator Robert Wagner, sponsored the National Labor Relations Act, or the Wagner Act. Nationally, collective bargaining for government employees began in 1962 when President John Kennedy signed Executive Order 10988 allowing federal employees to unionize and gain collective bargaining.

Truth in Accounting Issues: Washington’s ‘Financial State of the State’ – True Tax Burden $31.7 Billion

From the Institute for Truth in Accounting…

Chicago (November 29, 2010) Today, the Institute for Truth in Accounting released Washington’s “Financial State of the State.” After an intensive review of the State’s 2010 audited financial report the Institute determined the State is in a precarious financial position because it does not have the funds available to pay $31.7 billion of the State’s commitments as they come due. Each taxpayer’s share of this financial burden equals $13,800.

Washington state law requires a balanced budget. “If governors and legislatures had truly balanced the state’s budget, no taxpayer’s financial burden would exist,” said Sheila Weinberg, founder and CEO of the Institute for Truth in Accounting (IFTA). She continued, “A state budget is not balanced if past costs, including those for employees’ retirement benefits, are pushed into the future.”

New Tone: After Budget Vote, Wis. Democrat Tells Fellow Rep. ‘You Are F***ing Dead’

Nice “new tone,” isn’t it? But it fits well with his pals in the teachers unions sporting Walker-is-Hitler signs not to mention how it fits with all the videos of union thugs committing violence against Tea Partiers that we’ve seen over the last week.

This Hintz creep is a piece of work, too. Earlier in February he got swept up in a prostitution ring in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Mitch Daniels Explains Himself Well… But Having to is a Problem

-By Warner Todd Huston

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels once again did a fine job explaining himself over his recent seemingly controversial opposition to introducing any right to work laws in Indiana. Turns out he really isn’t that opposed to it, but he sure seemed to be against the idea a few days ago. He has since said his opposition was misunderstood. Unfortunately Daniels seems to be spending an awful lot of time re-explaining himself these days and this seems to auger that he is not running for president.

On the 22nd the IndyStar reported that Daniels wanted Republicans to drop the right to work law they were contemplating introducing. This report caused such conservatives as Jim Geraghty of the National Review to say, “color me extremely disappointed” in the Hoosier State’s governor.

Daniels has since clarified and also complained that the IndyStar sort of misquoted him. Now, usually I’d be the first to jump on the knock-the-media bandwagon, but in this case I don’t see how anyone could say he was misquoted in the pages of the IndyStar.

Kinzinger Calls for Serious Efforts to Address the Budget

-By Warner Todd Huston

Last week I wondered aloud if Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R, 11th District) was going against his claims of being fiscally responsible when I saw his poor support of the budget cuts in HR1.

There were 22 budget cutting measures in HR1 and Kinzinger only supported 38% of those cuts. I found this odd for a guy that ran as a fiscal hawk. I have, however, had communication with the newly minted congressman over this issue and he has a logical explanation for not having voted for all the cost-cutting amendments.

First of all Kinzinger reiterated that he “strongly supports the additional cuts” that the freshman class in Congress is pushing. He remains an advocate of the cuts being pushed “behind the scenes,” too. But he feels that he wasn’t given enough time to fully understand the amendments in HR1 and he felt it wasn’t proper for him to vote on amendments he didn’t fully understand. In that case he only voted on the amendments he felt he fully understood.
