Peter Rosakm: A Few Op Eds for Your Interest

From the office of Representaive Peter Roskam (R, Ill.)…

When you get a chance, take a look at two op-eds I wrote last week.

The first in National Review Online discusses the Republican agenda for the fall, including our plans to spur job creation, reel in government spending, establish predictability in the marketplace, and replace Obamacare with reforms designed to actually lower health care costs.

Barack Obama at the Arab American Action Network Gala‏

-By Michael Zak

On Friday, an anti-terrorism task force of the FBI conducted eight raids in Chicago and Minneapolis. Among the targets was Hatem Abudayyeh, executive director of the Arab American Action Network Network (AAAN). Agents seized laptop computers and other evidence from Abudayyeh’s Chicago home. This much has been reported in the media.

What has received less coverage is the connection between the AAAN and the President of the United States. A photo of Michelle and Barack Obama was taken on May 24, 1998 in Burbank, IL, where state senator Barack Obama was an honored guest at a gala dinner. Hosting the event was — drumroll, please — the Arab American Action Network.

In this photo, Obama is speaking with the keynote speaker, PLO advisor Edward Said, who passed away in 2003.

The organization hosting the gala dinner, the AAAN, had been funded by Barack Obama, his terrorist friend Bill Ayers [here, standing on the American flag] and other directors of the Woods Fund. The AAAN had been established by another one of Obama’s friends, Rashid Khalidi.

Rep. Roskam on The ‘Pledge To America’ (Answers to Earmarks Question)

-By Warner Todd Huston

Last week the House Republicans issued their update of the 1994 “Contract With America.” They have labeled it the “Pledge To America,” and it was launched to a standing ovation from House Republicans. On Friday I spoke to Representative Peter Roskam (R, Ill.) and asked a few questions about this new effort.

Roskam said that the preamble of the pledge, “which is really, I think, moving,” was met with a standing ovation when it was presented to all the Hose Republicans and the representative was pleased that the National Review said that the new pledge was bolder than the original 1994 contract.

He also threw out a little taunt to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi saying, “our members are game on and ready to go… if the Speaker wants to mock this stuff then the best way for her to deal with it is to call us out, which of course she won’t.”

Happy Birthday Samuel Adams!

From the Sam Adams Alliance…

Today is the 288th birthday of Samuel Adams–“founder” of the American Revolution.

Never heard of him? Or at least, only know about Sam Adams because you like the beer named after him? Well that’s a tragedy because in his day–way back in 1776–Sam Adams was considered the thought-leader and brain child behind the American Revolution. Our most famous founding fathers, including John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin, all credited Samuel Adams with spearheading a movement that changed the course of not only American history, but also truly, liberty and democracy across the globe for generations to come.

Samuel Adams was a modest and humble man who used the communications tools of his time–the pen, newspapers, pamphlets, and person-to-person meetings, to generate a demand for independence against the encroaching suffocation that England was imposing on the colonies.

Chicago Trib’s State Senate Campaign Endorsements

-By Warner Todd Huston

“Change will come to Illinois only if change comes to the Illinois General Assembly,” so says the Chicago Tribune as it lays out the “change” they hope to see on election day this November.

The Trib is feeling a tad anti-incumbent, it appears, as they’ve endorsed some challengers for the state senate in Springfield.

Here are the Republicans that the Trib is endorsing:
10th District (Northwest Side) Brian Doherty
19th District (Southwest suburbs) Adam Wojcik
22nd District (Northwest suburbs) Steve Rauschengberger
24th District (West suburbs) Chris Lauzen
28th District (Northwest suburbs) John Milner
31st District (North suburbs) Suzi Schmidt

The Democrat the Trib endorsed is Heather Steans of the 7th District.

Interesting in that some of these names are challengers. Schmidt is a challenger of Democratic incumbent Michael Bond, Rauschenberger is the challenger of incumbent Mike Noland, and Wojick is the GOP challenger of incumbent Maggie Crotty. The incumbents the Trib endorsed are Chris Lauzen, John Milner and Heather Steans.

Kilbride Has ‘Forfeited His Right to Serve Another 10 Years’

From JUSTPAC

In the video below, Edward Petka, retired Will County Circuit Judge, former State Senator and former Will County State’s Attorney, discusses Justice Thomas Kilbride’s record of choosing criminals over victims and law enforcement. This video was shot on the site of the 1983 Joliet “Ceramic Shop Massacre”. Thanks to overwhelming evidence, serial killer Milton Johnson was arrested and convicted of that massacre — but Kilbride called for Johnson’s retrial as part of a blanket call for the retrial of 25 Death Row inmates.

Domestic Terrorist Denied University Accolade of Emeritus Status

-By Warner Todd Huston

Leave it to University liberals to suddenly take strong stands just when it makes absolutely no difference at all.

Domestic terrorist William Ayers, close personal friend to Barack Hussein Obama, has finally been denied something by a publicly funded university and at this late date it is a meaningless gesture.

For decades and decades this anti-American cretin has been spreading his hatred of the United States to students at the University of Illinois in Chicago but now after spreading his maliciousness for so long he is contemplating retirement.

But the 60’s radical and bomber William Ayers wanted one more little accolade from UIC, one more little piece of paper he could frame for his wall of liberal praise. He wanted to be awarded UIC emeritus status.

On Those Bill Foster Ads Slamming Hultgren? Hultgren Says ‘Not True’

From the Hultgren for Congress campaign (14th District)…

St. Charles – State Senator Randy Hultgren, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives IL-14, today responded to deceptive ads paid for by Congressman Bill Foster, D-Batavia.

“Bill Foster’s allegations against me are not true,” said Hultgren. “Bill Foster hopes with his millions of campaign dollars, that he can fool you into believing his lies.”

“Democrat Bill Foster is lying in a calculated gamble to hide his atrocious record of support of Nancy Pelosi 92.6% of the time including government bailouts, higher taxes, massive spending increases and a health care overhaul,” said Hultgren.[1] “If Foster can stay off the issues through lying about my employment, he is able to avoid his miserable record as a Congressman.”

Illinois Professor Says Chanting ‘USA’ is Bellicose Propaganda

-By Warner Todd Huston

Oh, you ignorant Americans with your venal patriotic chants of “USA, USA” at sporting events. Your bellicosity isn’t patriotism, it’s propaganda and lowly militarism… so says David Green, University Administrator and member of the University of Illinois Institute of Government & Public Affairs.

Green’s poisoned pen letter to American patriots was published by the Daily Illini, an “independent newspaper” at the U of I, and features every manner of attack on America.

Green’s vituperation covers the gamut of anti-Americanism: America is “imperialist,” she is unconcerned over the deaths of Muslims, America is”nativist,” and patriots are prone to “obnoxious, fake-macho, chicken-hawk” chants. In other words all that is wrong with the world is evinced in the United States of America.

The professor’s screed was short, but filled with hate for America:

Tea Party Transformation

From Dan Proft…

Those on the receiving end of the tea party movement this election cycle are hopeful it is but a fleeting temper tantrum.

However, as President Obama learned, hope may be a campaign slogan but it is not a strategy.

In fact, there are at least four reasons why the tea party movement will have a positive, lasting and transformative impact on our politics.

First, the tea party has accomplished something the Republican Party has always struggled to do which is to unite social and economic conservatives around common enemies and a common agenda.

New Hultgren Ad: Foster’s Jobs Killing Votes

The Randy Hultgren for Congress campaign issued the following statement today regarding the release of their new television advertisement, “Vote.”

“As Bill Foster launches one desperate and dishonest attack after another on Randy Hultgren, it’s important that voters are fully informed of Bill Foster’s out-of-touch, liberal record of voting with Nancy Pelosi 93% of the time, and his support for the Wall Street bailout, the so-called ‘stimulus,’ and the Foster-Pelosi government takeover of health care,” said campaign spokesman Gill Stevens. “This ad does just that, and reminds voters that Bill Foster is part of the problem in Washington, DC.”

Hayes: Time to Hold Jackson Accountable

From the Hayes for Congress campaign (2nd District)…

CHICAGO: Republican nominee for Illinois 2nd Congressional District Isaac Hayes issued the following statement regarding what he sees as a failure by the press to hold Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. accountable for recent scandals that have surfaced.

“Over the course of this political season I have repeatedly heard that the Illinois 2nd Congressional seat is safe. The presumption is that Black voters don’t care about character and values. I find it quite condescending to suggest the ethical and moral disclosures that have plagued our current Representative will just be swept under the rug.

Schilling to Hare: “Repudiate Cap and Trade”

From the Schilling for Congress campaign (17th District)…

Hare voted for bill that would outsource 2.5 million jobs

EAST MOLINE, IL–Bobby Schilling, Republican candidate for Congress in the Illinois 17th District, called on Rep. Hare to keep his word and repudiate his vote for Cap and Trade.

Rep. Hare recently told the Quincy Herald-Whig, in regards to the US-Korea Free Trade Agreement, “I’m not going to vote for this agreement or any other one that costs even one America job. Enough is enough.”

In June 2009, Rep. Hare voted for “The American Clean Energy and Security Act” H.R. 2454, also known as “Cap and Trade.” This is a national energy tax that would not only raise energy costs for everyone, but would result in 2.5 million jobs being sent overseas, according to the Heritage Foundation. The bill would also would cost 400,000 jobs in the manufacturing industry. The bill would passed 219-212 in the House, but later failed in the Senate.

Cap and Trade is not the only job killing bill Rep. Hare has supported. Rep. Hare also supported “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” H.R. 3590, a bill that has created 22 new taxes, including several on small business. According to the National Federation of Independent Business, the employer mandate tax could cost 1.6 million jobs by 2014.

“I recognize that Rep. Hare must have had a change of heart,” Schilling said. “I’m glad he has finally decided to stop supporting bills that would outsource American jobs, even if we are only 42 days from Election Day. He should immediately repudiate his Cap and Trade vote and his Healthcare Reform vote. These bills will send millions of jobs overseas and decimate the American manufacturing sector. It’s time for Rep. Hare to step up and fight for 17th District jobs. If he’s being honest, he’ll come forward and publicly take back those votes.”

Bobby Schilling, a native of Rock Island, graduated from Alleman High School and attended Black Hawk College. Schilling, a local business owner, is the Republican candidate for the 17th Congressional District in Illinois. Bobby is running on a platform of bringing jobs and real representation back to the 17th District. Earlier this year, Schilling conducted a 34-city “Bob’s for Jobs” tour, where he met with voters and employers all across the 17th District. Schilling was recently named an official ‘Young Gun’ by the National Republican Congressional Committee in their Young Guns program of top tiered races.

Democrat Corruption in Illinois: Michael Madigan, Rod Blagojevich, Tony Rezko, That’s What Friends are For!

The Democrats have a deep bench of corrupt officials that have all helped enrich each other at the cost to Illinois’ taxpayers. The Illinois Republican Party wants to remind you of how one Democrat hand helps the next to your money…

The video shows multiple photos of Illinois’ top Democratic leaders hugging, shaking hands or caught in an embrace with Blagojevich. It’s believed the first image of the photo montage which includes convicted felon Tony Rezko, seated next to House Speaker Michael Madigan and Blagojevich, has not been publicly released until now.

Sometimes we forget what friends are for. Mike Madigan. Pat Quinn. Alexi Giannoulias. Lisa Madigan. They all stood arm in arm with Blagojevich, despite claiming now that they knew he was corrupt.

The photos are accompanied by the song “That’s What Friends Are For.” Phrases such as “I’ll be on your side forever more,” take on new meaning for Democratic officials now trying to run as far away from Blagojevich as they can during this campaign season.

The people of Illinois need to know that this is the party that was on Rod’s side, not the people’s side, and look where that got us.

Hayes Offers Jackson Free Lessons in Hindi

From the Hayes for Congress campaign (2nd District)…

CHICAGO: Republican nominee for Illinois 2nd Congressional District Isaac Hayes today offered Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. a free book on the Hindi language and again called for his resignation.

Jesse Jackson Jr., speaking on WLS radio’s “Don Wade & Roma” show this past Friday morning about an Oct. 28, 2008, meeting with two Indian fund-raisers said, “another gentleman showed up and started having another conversation practically in Hindu, because I don’t speak Hindu.” He went on to say, “I didn’t participate in any of that part of the conversation, nor do I even remember hearing it.”

Hayes responded with perplexity to the Congressman’s statement, “If Congressman Jackson wants us to believe that he participated in a meeting with Indian businessmen who discussed a $1 million bribe on his behalf but failed to tell him about it, he needs to have his head examined because it is clear he lacks the cognitive capacity to serve as a United States Congressman. He should resign now and save himself further embarrassment.”

Today, Hayes is offering Congressman Jackson a free book to help him with his Hindi. “Mr. Jackson alleges the conversation to buy him a Senate Seat was in Hindi, so I want to make sure he is aware that a Congressional Crime is taking place if this ever happens again,” said Hayes.

This statement appears on the Citizens for Isaac Hayes website at: www.isaac4honesty.com.

The Unethical Practices of ThinkProgress.com

-By Warner Todd Huston

Real leftists are basically the lowest form of humanity. Sadly it is all too often that many good, honest, well-meaning Democrats get tarred with the hatemongering, ethically compromised leftists among them. Here we have another example of this sort of behavior from the cretins of ThinkProgress.org with an incident that occurred on Sept. 18 at the Right Nation 2010 event in the western suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.

Right Nation featured an array of Illinois conservatives, office seekers, and elected officials and a few national figures such as Freedom Works chief Dick Armey, Wall Street Journal writer John Fund, ACORN Whistleblower Anita MonCrief, and Fox News commentator Glenn Beck. It also had a blogger’s row, as most of these events, left and right, now do.

The unethical actions perpetrated by these immoral leftists happened in the blogger’s room as John Fund was speaking to the handful of invited bloggers, myself one of those few. Fund began to speak to the bloggers about politics and elections in the closed room and as Fund began certain of his comments he asked us to keep his comments off the record. We all immediately turned off our recording devices at his request.

But one unethical left-winger had slipped into the room and he did not heed the request to keep comments off the record. This unethical infiltrator turned on a video camera and recorded Mr. Fund’s off the record words. Then he splashed Fund’s comments all over his leftist site.

New Jesse Jackson Jr. Allegations of Ethics Violation, Sexual Affair

-By Warner Todd Huston

On the eave of the biggest rush to run for Chicago Mayor in recent memory, Jesse Jackson, Jr. has been hit with more allegations of being involved in a scheme to buy a Senate seat from disgraced Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Additionally, there is a hint that Jackson was involved with a woman flown several times to Chicago by a campaign contributor.

An Indian-American businessman has told federal authorities that he was asked by Congressman Jackson to begin raising money for Rod Blagojevich so that Blago might appoint Jackson to the open Senate seat that Obama vacated when he took the White House in 2008.

Shortly after Blagojevich’s arrest on corruption charges in December 2008, the Chicago Tribune reported that FBI agents went to the Oak Brook home of Indian-American businessman, Raghuveer P. Nayak. The Tribune reported Nayak hosted an Oct. 31, 2008 luncheon where he discussed raising $1 million for Blagojevich to help persuade the governor to choose Jackson. The congressman’s brother Jonathan appeared at a Nayak-sponsored fundraiser for the governor three days before Blagojevich was arrested.

There is also an affair broadly hinted at between the Congressman and a woman named Giovanna Huidobro, an affair that Jackson has asked the media to ignore so as to “respect” his “private” problem between he and his wife.

The woman is said to be a “restaurant hostess” but the picture that is being used by the media looks suspiciously like a swimsuit model seen on the CincoUno.com website.

When confronted with the possible relationship, Jackson clammed up and tried to cajole the media to ignore the whole thing.

“The reference to a social acquaintance is a private and personal matter between me and my wife that was handled some time ago,” Jackson said in his statement. “I ask that you respect our privacy.

“I know I have disappointed some supporters, and for that I am deeply sorry. But I remain committed to serving my constituents and fighting on their behalf.”

Like father like son, I guess. Jackson Sr. is well known for his sexual dalliances.

Randy Hultgren (14th District): We Need To Restore Fiscal Sanity

From the Hultgren for Congress campaign (14th District)…

ST. CHARLES – The Randy Hultgren for Congress campaign issued the following statement today regarding the nation’s fiscal situation and the out-of-control spending in Washington.

“For too long, both parties in Washington have spent far too much, with far too little regard for the future,” said State Senator Randy Hultgren, Republican candidate for Congress. “We need to restore fiscal sanity to our spending, starting with honest and realistic budgeting and serious-minded plans to balance the budget and pay down the debt. For our sake and for our children’s future, we need to get our fiscal house in order.

“Unfortunately, my opponent Bill Foster has been part of the problem out in Washington. Since he was first elected, our budget deficit has tripled. Bill Foster has consistently supported Nancy Pelosi’s big-spending agenda, and our district and our country deserve a representative who will work to cut spending and restore fiscal discipline in Washington.”

Schilling Agrees with JFK on Tax Policy

From the Schilling for Congress campaign…

Schilling: “If we want to create jobs and stop outsourcing, we have to start by creating a positive business climate.”

EAST MOLINE, IL–Bobby Schilling, Republican candidate for Congress in the Illinois 17th District, discussed his positions on tax policy. Schilling signed a pledge with Americans for Tax Reform promising not to raise taxes on anyone in a recession. Schilling said he believes JFK, a Democrat, had it right when it comes to tax cuts.

“President Kennedy embraced tax cuts during a tough economy in the early 1960s because they work,” Schilling said. “The truth is that tax cuts stimulate the economy while high taxes discourage further growth. Putting money in people’s pockets will allow them to buy more goods and services. As businesses see more revenue, they’ll be more likely to expand and create new jobs. If we increase taxes in the manner my opponent wants to, we won’t see any new jobs and many businesses will actually be forced to cut back the amount of workers they employ. Some businesses may even give up on our business climate entirely and move their operations abroad. If we want to create jobs and stop outsourcing, we have to start by creating a positive business climate.”
