Chicago Bloggers Onto Obama’s Membership in Communist Group Early

-By Warner Todd Huston

With the news of Stanley Kurtz’ NRO piece about Obama’s membership in a radical, communist-styled political party in Chicago making the rounds today, it is instructive to note that bloggers had all this info years ago, before Obama ran for the White House in 2008.

Back in the late 1990, then State Senate candidate Barack OBama attended meetings in Chicago of the “New Party,” a radical, left-wing pseudo party whose goal was to push very radical leftist ideas and candidates. Obama joined that party and sought openly sought their support.

When all this news came about in 2007 and 2008, Obama’s operatives vehemently denied Obama’s participation with the radical New Party. Kurtz himself wrote of this back in 2008 and was roundly criticized for it.

Today Kurtz is ballyhooing further proof that he was right all along.

The Dominoes of Cloward-Piven

-By Frank Salvato

In 1966, two Columbia University sociologists, Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, collaborated on a theory to end poverty in the United States. This theory, today, is referred to as the “Cloward-Piven Strategy.” People who are familiar with the likes of Saul Alinsky and William Ayers are familiar with the strategy, as are the full complement of the Progressive Movement. In a nutshell, the underlying principle of the Cloward-Piven Strategy is to so overload the entitlement system – to add so many to the entitlement rolls, that the country’s economic system collapses, unleashing chaos and violence in the streets, thus affecting radical Leftist political change in government. Up until recently this theory has been just that, a theory, and a theory that anarchists and Progressives have salivated over for their want of execution. But today, we are seeing the fruits of the Cloward-Piven Strategy played out to success in Greece and several other financial destitute countries in Europe.

To briefly summarize the Cloward-Piven Strategy, I turn to Richard Poe who wrote an article of the same name, which is featured at DiscoverTheNetworks.org.

Mr. Poe observes that Mr. Cloward and Ms. Piven sought (and “seeks,” in the case of Ms. Piven) to facilitate the fall of Capitalism by “overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.” Mr. Poe explained that Cloward and Piven saw the so-called “ruling class” as using entitlements to “weaken the poor”; to make the poor dependent on government, thus “dousing the fires of rebellion,” following the “don’t bite the hand that feeds you” theory.

Here is Why Liberals Think Politics is so Bad Today

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Washington Post published a long Op Ed by a pair of think tankers pretending at both being “centrists” and offering an unbiased analysis of why politics has gotten so “partisan” these days. The pair also claim they know how to end this messy partisanship. But what they wrote is a perfect example of why things have become so polarized, not an example of how to fix anything.

The authors, Thomas E. Mann and Norman J. Ornstein, published theirs headlined, “Want to end partisan politics? Here’s what won’t work — and what will,” a piece filled with all sorts of claims, pseudo analysis, and offers of solutions. The piece is practically one long paean to liberalism as opposed to serious analysis, but it does do one thing successfully. It shows us why the public debate has gotten bad not for its analysis and solutions but for the left-wing ideological underpinnings of their arguments.

The pair start with five solutions they think we should avoid, the first being a propensity to invest our hopes in a third party. On its face, this is correct. Third parties are now and always have been a joke in the U.S. system. They have never been worth anything other than a sideshow act. Only once did a third party ever make major headway and that was Teddy Roosevelt’s Bull Moose Party — with which he almost won another shot at the White House — but once TR was gone the party collapsed.

Beach Boys Singer, Another Entertainer Mugged by Reality, Calls Obama ‘Socialist A-Hole’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Looks like Bruce Johnston, one of the lead singers of the Beach Boys, is another entertainer that has gotten sick and tired of President Obama’s particular brand of class warfare.

Johnston, who joined the band in 1965 after troubled founder Brian Wilson faded from the band, was recently filmed reaming Obama as a “socialist a_ _ hole.”

Though, to be sure, he wasn’t too fond of Mitt Romney, either.

The original film was aired on the Hollywood gossip show TMZ.

An Example of Pointless Greenieness

-By Warner Todd Huston

NBC has created an entire phalanx of videos centered on environmental issues to show its fealty to the religion of greenism. There are celebrities, trite slogans, and all sorts of absurd promises on what going green can do for us all. But are these “solutions” really any good? Let’s look at one of NBC’s claims to see if it makes much sense, shall we?

The subject happens to be one of green fascism’s favorites: light bulbs. The ad, you see, claims that if every American household gets rid of incandescent light bulbs to be replaced with an energy savers, why… well, here is the voice over of the ad:

If every home changes one of these (image of an incandescent light bulb) for one of these (an energy saving light bulb), we’d save enough power to light up New York City for a year. Broadway, Wall Street, Central Park. Just one light bulb. You don’t have to do a lot to do a lot.

But let’s think about this.

Bridge Bomber’s Name Appears on Occupy Cleveland Bldg. Lease, Occupiers Mad at FBI Instead

-By Warner Todd Huston

In another story that should surprise no one, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reveals that the name of one of the Ohio bridge bombers nabbed by the FBI is so closely involved with Occupy Cleveland that his name appears on the lease of the rented warehouse they use for a headquarters. Instead of being ashamed, though, the Occupiers are mad at the FBI, apparently.

When stories about the late April arrest of five Ohio men who had formed a plot to bomb some key bridges in Ohio first surfaced, the Old Media called them merely “anarchists.”

It wasn’t long, though, before the New Media began to find out that they weren’t just any amorphous “anarchists,” but members of the Occupy Wall Street movement in Cleveland (Occupy Cleveland). No Old Media outlets reported this in the beginning despite how easy it was to find the facts.

Grease is the Word for ‘Emergency’ Increase in Government Powers

-By Warner Todd Huston

Democrat State Representative Kathy Webb of Arkansas is so alarmed that she says she needs “emergency powers” to make sure her stupid, thoughtless citizens do the right thing. Nanny Webb, you see, is upset at sink grease and wants those nitwit citizens to make sure they don’t wash it down their sink drains and she wants to use the iron boot heel of government to make sure they obey her will.

James Taylor, the writer not the singer, of Forbes magazine tells us of Nanny Webb who wants “to declare an emergency” over the offending goop, noting that “Frying hamburgers is now The People’s Business of the Highest Order” in the razorback’s state. Webb has introduced a bill to make sure her serfs toe her line.

Webb’s bill claims food grease presents an emergency risk of sewer overflows that threatens the environment. “It is in the public interest to establish a Fat, Oil, and Grease Advisory Committee to study the recommended measures to better ensure that the collection, transportation, disposal, and recycling of fat, oil, and grease are done in a manner that is protective of the environment,” reads the bill.

Oh, but this isn’t just a bill meant to punish the stupid, stupid people. It’s also a jobs bill. Why, 14 of Webb’s closest pals will get a nice cushy state job on the 14 member panel she intends to create with her new law, not to mention the “adequate staff and facilities” she wants to afford them… at the expense of those stupid, grease-dumping taxpayers, of course.

Genocidal Green Quotes

As Earth Day 2012 occurs on Sunday, April 22, I offer a selection of quotes from leading figures in the environmental movement that are worth reading so that you can draw your own conclusions.

In 1970, the first Earth Day generated the following quotes:

“Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.” – George Wald, Harvard Biologist

“We are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of this nation, and of the world as a suitable place of human habitation.” – Barry Commoner, Washington University biologist

“Man must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from intolerable deterioration and possible extinction.” – New York Times editorial, the day after the first Earth Day

Healthcare Death Panels Are Inevitable

-By Warner Todd Huston

Much was made of Governor Sarah Palin’s use of the term “government death panels” to lambaste Obamacare. Left-wingers and Democrats everywhere scoffed at the term and accused Palin of demagogy and even lying. But the fact is, government death panels of all sorts are inevitable once government takes over healthcare. In fact, once government takes over healthcare, all sorts of unscientific, non-health related nonsense creeps into your healthcare whether you like it or not and none of these decisions are made with your doctor’s advice or consent.

To understand this we have but to look to countries that already have government provided healthcare to see many incidents of the foolishness that is government control of medicine. Arbitrary decisions are made, people are told they are too old to bother with and treatments are too late to save the patient because of long wait times.

Worse, are the cases where government lackeys use non-medical criteria to replace medical considerations such as a recent case in Britain where a woman was told she can no longer get her healthcare because her travel distance makes her “carbon footprint” too big.

A Morality Tale Warning Against Liberalism

-By Warner Todd Huston

There is an old joke from the Soviet Union that perfectly encapsulates the stupidity, hate, and failure that is modern liberalism… and yes I am saying there is no material difference between American liberals and Soviet communists.

Here is the story:

Once in the Soviet Union Ivan and Mikhail were equals. But Ivan found a cow one day and his life got instantly better. The cow, not Ivan’s wife, pulled the plow, the cow gave free milk to Ivan’s family and his children got healthier. The cow birthed calves that grew to provide meat for Ivan’s table and Ivan sold the meat to others. Soon Ivan seemed like a very rich man to Mikhail.

Finally Mikhail had had enough. He prayed to God that he and Ivan were equal again like they once were. God answered Mikhail’s prayers and told him, “Tomorrow you will both be equal again.”

Mikhail praised God saying, “Thank you God that tomorrow you are going to kill Ivan’s cow!”

News Flash: Noted Marx-Inspired President Hopes Opponents Learn From Lincoln?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Does President Obama have gall, or what? Obama, a man famed for being born to a Marxist from Kenya, trained by communist Frank Marshal Davis, and bathed in the destructive tactics of radical, anti-American leftist Saul Alinsky says the he hopes that Abraham Lincoln will “rub off” on the GOP candidates for president who were visiting Illinois.

All three of the major GOP candidates visited Illinois during this past week to flog their candidacies in the Land of Lincoln whose voters will go to their primary polls this coming Tuesday. Feeling left out, Obama also winged his way into the Windy City — on the taxpayer’s dime, of course — to attend a high-dollar fundraiser for his now six-year-old election campaign for the White House.

While there he uttered these amazing words:

I’m thinking maybe some Lincoln will rub off on them while they’re here.

Well, it never worked on him and he was here for over 20 years. There is just too much Marx/Davis/Alinsky in Obama for Lincoln to “rub off” on him, I guess.

Defense Vs. Dependency: ‘Safety Net’ Isn’t so Safe

-By Daniel Clark

During the 1990s, when liberal politicians raided our military budget in order to fund their favored domestic initiatives, they referred to it as reaping the “peace dividend.” Their argument was that with the Cold War over, much of the money being used to maintain the world’s most powerful military could better be used elsewhere.

When war was thrust upon us a decade later, we were woefully under-equipped to handle it, and it’s no wonder why. The Pentagon budget, rather than being increased or cut based on its own merit, had been forced to directly compete for dollars with the pet projects of those politicians who get to determine the winners and losers. Once budget debates were framed in that way, any new military spending could be demagogued as the taking of food from the mouths of the poor.

Today, President Obama is proposing a return to the “peace dividend” model, despite the fact that we are far from being at peace. Even with commitments remaining in Iraq and Afghanistan, a crisis roiling in Iran, chaos reigning throughout the Middle East, and the deployment of a small number of American soldiers to Uganda, the president plans to decimate our nuclear arsenal, and dramatically reduce our numbers of ships, planes, and active military personnel. Meanwhile, he has proposed another $3.8 trillion budget for 2013, whose deficit will surely top the trillion-dollar mark yet again, his highly optimistic GDP projections notwithstanding.

Gov’t Waste Watch: Former California Treasury Official Slams Prop 29

-By Warner Todd Huston

The opposition to Proposition 29, the nearly billion dollar per year tax hike slated for the June ballot, is growing. A new wrinkle comes from former California Treasury official Mark Paul who hit the nail on the head in an interview with the Los Angeles Times last week.

It seems that another celebrity is barging into politics, this time it is bicycling champ Lance Armstrong who has signed on as the pitchman for Prop 29 the ballot initiative that, if approved by voters, will create a new agency whose task is to undertake research to cure cancer. Never mind that hundreds of other agencies across the country are already doing this, of course, but supporters of Prop 29, the so-called California Cancer Research Act, imagine that billions more taken from California taxpayers will find a cure that others have missed.

Paul is the author of a popular new book on California government, California Crack Up, and for his part he is skeptical over the efficacy of Prop 29, to say the least.

The New American Elite

-By Alan Caruba

The only constant in the life of individuals and nations is change. Since the beginning of the last century, the process or rate of change has accelerated with the invention and availability of a myriad of machines, technologies that have altered the lifestyle of Americans as well as of millions around the world.

Let me put it in personal terms. When I was born in the late 1930s, my Mother washed the family laundry by hand and hung it out to dry on sunny days or in the basement of our home if it was raining. We were not poor. We were middle class. My Father was a Certified Public Accountant and we lived in a spacious suburban home in an upscale New Jersey community. Mass produced washers and dryers would arrive after the end of World War Two.

The differences between lower economic classes, the middle class, and upper classes were well defined back then. All, however, generally held the same values regarding societal institutions such as marriage, religion, national pride. Those values have eroded since the 1960s and Charles Murray, a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, whose new book, “Coming Apart: The State of White America, 1960-2010” ($27.00, Crown Forum) tells you how and why.

After Billions in Federal Bailouts, Now GM Lobbying States for More?

-By Warner Todd Huston

How much bailing out does one company need? (The correct answer is none, of course) After receiving some $50 billion in tax dollars from us courtesy of Obama’s “cash stash,” GM is claiming success with a “Obama claimed that GM was “back on top as the world’s number one automaker.” But true or not, if all is coming up roses for GM why is the company now lobbying the individual states for mini bailouts?

That is exactly what is happening. The new “big success” automaker is spending millions hiring lobbyists to squeeze more millions out of state legislatures. As Justin Owen notes, GM has “turned to another, smaller government teat,” by putting its hand out to the states. GM, Owen says, “has received another $1.7 billion in taxpayer-funded grants and tax abatements.”

This is no accident of timing, either. GM admitted to the Tennessee Watchdog that begging to the states for tax dollars is a concerted effort.

Conservatives: Occupy Wall Street Shows How We Can’t Get Our Message Out Over Old Media Din

-By Warner Todd Huston

The gauzy puffery that the Old Media slathers upon the Occupy Wall Street movement has helped keep most Americans in the dark about how nasty, how violent, how outrageous, and even how incredibly lacking in integrity this movement is. On the conservative blogs the truth is well known, of course, but the fact that few Americans seem to know how bad the OWSers are shows that as conservatives we are not effectively getting our message out there.

For the initial two years of its existence the Old Media spent its every waking moment destroying, maligning, and out right lying about the Tea Party movement. Even today you’ll see an occasional swipe at the Tea Patiers made by some hater from the left and the Old Media is happy to “report” the slander, naturally.

You might remember when Obama operative Anna Park tried to start a counter movement that she prosaically called “the Coffee Party” during the heyday of the Tea Party. You may also recall that those Old Media mavens, while daily lying and lambasting the Tea Partiers, fell all over themselves to play up the silly and quickly failed and forgotten “Coffee Party” effort.

The U.S. is on a Suicide Watch

-By Alan Caruba

In 1991, the Soviet Union, arguably the greatest experiment in Communism, collapsed. After Mao Zedong died in 1976, his successors moved to shift its Communist economy to one that embraced Capitalism while retaining centralized government control.

Following World War Two, the recovering nations of Europe were rescued from Communism by the Marshall Plan, but adopted Communism-Light in the form of Socialism. The U.S. was already headed in that direction, creating programs that we now call “entitlements.” For most of the nation’s history, such “entitlements” did not exist.

What binds together the financial problems of the West is the common thread of infantile behavior and thought. One might call it wishful thinking. Instead of encouraging people to provide for old age and possible illness, politicians decided to turn government into Big Daddy, the eternal source of money for everything.

Need to go to college, start a business, or plan for retirement? Government would be there to help. All this ignored the need to actually pay for these programs. In the case of Social Security Congress began to dip into its funding to pay for other programs! This is what children do.

Are You a Conservative? Welcome to the Majority!

-By Warner Todd Huston

There has been a lot of lament by the far left in America that the Tea Party has somehow driven the Republican Party to conservative extremes. This, however, is untrue. The truth is, the American public has been trending toward conservative views for more than a decade before the Tea Party even came about.

According to Gallup, for the last three years more Americans have self-proclaimed themselves as conservatives than have claimed the moniker of moderate.

Political ideology in the U.S. held steady in 2011, with 40% of Americans continuing to describe their views as conservative, 35% as moderate, and 21% as liberal. This marks the third straight year that conservatives have outnumbered moderates, after more than a decade in which moderates mainly tied or outnumbered conservatives.

But think about this for a minute. This means that fully 75% of America is more conservative than the Democrat Party, a party that decades ago stopped being a party of centrism becoming instead a European-like, liberal party.

Gallup’s several decades of polling finds that “moderates” have been in slow decline since 1992 with Americans calling themselves “liberal” now only measuring at 21 percent. With this we see a nation that is not just center-right as many political pundits have for years claimed, but is actually trending conservative.

VIDEO: The Story of Broke Response, Why Annie Leonard is Wrong… AGAIN!

Extremist “progressive” Annie Leonard recently perpetrated another video attempting to “explain” why capitalism and the United States is evil. Well, LearnLiberty.org couldn’t let her lies and left-wing propaganda go by unaddressed. So, they made this excellent video…

Prof. Art Carden responds to “The Story of Broke”, a recent video by the creators of “The Story of Stuff.” In “The Story of Broke,” Annie Leonard claims that the government isn’t actually broke. Rather, the government just wastes resources on the wrong things like subsidies to the dinosaur economy and war. She claims that the government should change its ways, and instead, subsidize firms that will bring us the future we really want.

Art Carden agrees with Leonard that war and subsidies are wasteful, but is skeptical of notion that there is one unified vision for the future. To Carden, everyone has a different vision for the future. Our path to the future, he argues, is determined by the interactions of billions of unique individuals pursuing their own objectives.

Additionally, Carden questions Leonard’s distinction between bad subsidies and good subsidies. Every subsidy, deemed good or bad, must be allocated through the political process. Lobbyists and special interests exert a large degree of influence on political decisions, and they use this power to direct subsidies in their own favor at everyone else’s expense.

Carden concludes that government spending won’t buy a brighter future. A brighter future will emerge when people are allowed to spend money on things they care about. Put another way, positive change will come from billions of people cooperating freely and voluntarily with one another, not from pushing trillions of dollars through a broken political process.

Obama Excuses Over 500,000 Union Members From Obamacare

-By Warner Todd Huston

Remember back in the days of the debate over Obamacare when unions were the biggest voices screaming in support of the legislation? Many labor union bosses said that nationalized healthcare was exactly what they wanted. Further they said it was what was good for the country. Yet now we learn that Obama has given waivers to some 550,000 union members so that they don;t have to suffer under Obamacare.

Paul Connor reports that a classic Friday evening document dump from the White House shows that unions employing up to 543,812 members have received waivers fro the Obama administration.

Fridays are often the one day of the week when government agencies satisfy transparency rules and release documents that show what they’ve been up to. They release them on Friday in the early evening because they understand that reporters are already headed home for the weekend and TV news departments have already programed their evening newscasts. These agencies also understand that news agencies don’t often cover heavy news on weekends. Further, by the time Monday rolls around the document will be “old news” and many of them will simply escape attention.

Promises, Promises: The Reality of Campaign Speak

-By Frank Salvato

As the campaign cycle progresses we are going to hear a lot about what one candidate or another is going to do about this or that. We will, to the point of weariness, be inundated with campaign promise after campaign promise, albeit, between gratuitous attacks, both political and personal. This is politicking and the American electorate – for better or for worse – has come to accept a certain amount of it from the people in the political class. But expecting grandiose pledges and believing in the unattainable, well, those are two different things. It is the truly foolish who believe half of what a political candidate says he can deliver, and the blame for that foolishness must fall on the shoulders of the individual voter.

While Presidents sign legislation into law, it is Congress – the House and the Senate; the Legislative Branch – that actually crafts and passes legislation. Therefore, any promise made on the campaign trail by a presidential candidate, be it by the incumbent or the challenger (or the field of candidates vying to be the challenger), is subject to the debate and acquiescence of those in the Legislative Branch; in Congress. It is because of this that any promise made by a presidential candidate must be received by the voting public as more of an intention, rather than a promise. To accept a campaign promise as an impending reality is to set oneself up for almost certain disappointment. And to blame a successful candidate for not living up to those campaign promises requires a level of certainty that the promise was actually ignored, not thwarted.

A good example of campaign promises thwarted comes in the form of the Republican TEA Party supported congressional freshman class who, during the 2010 Mid-Term Elections, promised to “repeal or defund Obamacare” and to “bring fiscal responsibility to Washington.” Each of those elected sincerely believed that they would be able to succeed in doing what they promised. In fact, HR2 of the 112th Congress did, in fact, attempt to repeal Obamacare and many of the TEA Party supported members of the House took it straight on the chin during the debt, deficit and budget debates. But for all of their good intentions and actions, the freshmen Republicans of the 112th Congress learned that unless you have a veto-proof majority in the House, a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate and a friendly inhabitant in the White House, absolutes in campaign promises do not exist.

The same must be said about the Executive Branch and the President of the United States, although he has some additional quivers in his pouch where getting his way is concerned: the bully pulpit (self-explanatory) and the Executive Order.

PANAMA: Drug Gang-Owned Government Becomes Stronger

-By Mauro Zuñiga Arauz

It is a known fact that many state governments producing and trafficking drugs have been, in one form or another, linked to drug traffickers. The same can be said about some institutions and administrative sectors of the importing countries. There is a triangulation between government, businessmen and traffickers. Mexican writer Anabela Hernandez studied the connection between former presidents Echevarria, Salina de Gortari, Vicente Fox and current President Felipe Calderon, and this illicit business. Former President of Colombia, Alvaro Uribe, is also mentioned in this activity. Manuel Antonio Noriega, Panama’s former strongman, was arrested in the United States for drug trafficking. The latter was perhaps the only one that rose to power being a drug dealer; all others, as is becoming a trend, are helped in their propaganda campaigns to involve them in the crime later.

The case of Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal, current President of Panama, has features that must be highlighted. He first got involved in money laundering in the late seventies of last century with Manuel Antonio Noriega, through his first supermarket. Later he became involved in drug trafficking, following in General Noriega’s footsteps, such that before becoming President, he already was a kingpin. This is an open secret in Panama, but the subject is banned in the two major television channels and in all written news media. I have reported these links, but Martinelli has given these media strict orders that I not be invited to any live program, and that I not be allowed to write in the print media.

In Panama, a while back some media carried out a “free speech” campaign, but it was so fake that they had to suspend it. I criticized it for hiding the struggle for “freedom of expression”. I am not allowed to express myself freely on television or on print media. There is only one reason: because I annoy the President and I report his ties to drug traffic. On the other hand, the media do report acts of corruption among government officials, and revel when a subordinate employee is investigated or arrested; but they have never dared to reach the puppeteer, even though they know that in Panama a penny never reaches any government official without leaving a kickback in the President’s pockets. Similarly, they had the guts to report one of his ministers’ bribery, Jose Raul Mulino, the Security Minister, who was bribed by the Italian company Finmeccanica, when they know that the business deal was carried out between Berlusconi and Martinelli, through fugitive Walter Lavitola.

According to data provided by Panama’s Center for Strategic Studies, Ricardo Martinelli is director of 99 companies and underwriter of 139; his wife, Marta Linares de Martinelli, is director of 144 and underwriter of 46; his son, Ricardo Martinelli Linares, director of 18 and underwriter of 2; his son, Luis Enrique Martinelli Linares, director of 36 and underwriter of 27, and his daughter, Carolina Martinelli is director of 6. These companies span many goods and services activities. Moreover, the President has the habit of sending officials from the General Revenue Directorate to entrepreneurs who refuse to sell their businesses to him, so as to blackmail them.

Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal controls the entire country: the administration of the State, the mass media and the citizens through illegal personal phone listening. Our phones are tapped and our emails are monitored. Noriega’s arrival has regrouped the old G-2 (Military Intelligence Service, responsible for assassinations, torture and disappearances during the military dictatorship) again. I was kidnapped and tortured on August 21, 1985. Today, former agents of that institution are intimidating me. I have already submitted their names to third parties in case of any “accident”. On the other hand, I have asked Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal to allow an independent audit of his fortune.

My hope is that this article be read by an international institution interested in investigating the deadly drug trade.

New York: Occupy Wall Street Hypocrites Cause 91 Workers to Lose Jobs

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Occupy Whatevers claimed they were all about “the little people.” They were about small businesses that stand against corporate giants. They were for the local shops that employ the middle and lower classes. And now the OWSers are responsible for the loss of almost 100 jobs for the very people they claimed they were trying to help.

Last June a small lunch spot was opened called the Milk Street Cafe. It was quickly becoming a favorite little eatery in the financial district — that is until the Occupy destroyers arrived to wreck the small start-up’s business.

A few weeks ago, struggling to survive the destruction wrecked upon it by the OWSers, the cafe laid off 21 people. Owner Marc Epstein had hoped that it would be enough to keep his little cafe afloat but to no avail. This week he has announced that he’s laid off his other 70 workers and is closing his business. That’s 91 workers that have lost their jobs thanks to the OWSers.

America’s Communist President

In his extraordinary book, “Dupes: How America’s Adversaries Have Manipulated Progressives for a Century”, the historian, Dr. Paul Kengor, stated in his introduction that “We now know that American Communists and their masters in Moscow were acutely aware that they could never gain the popular support they needed to enlist the support of a much wider coalition that could help them push their private agenda.”

Most threatening, however, was Dr. Kengor’s discovery that “it was nothing short of stunning to research this book during the presidential bid of Barack Obama and hear so many of the names in my research surface repeatedly in the background of the man who became president of the United States of America. The way in which so many names and themes from the Cold War past aligned and made their way into Obama’s orbit was chilling.”

Obama’s December 8th speech in Osawatomie, Kansas revealed to anyone paying any attention that the President is a Communist. Speaking of the nation’s economic system that has created the greatest wealth for the most people anywhere, Capitalism, Obama said, “It doesn’t work. It has never worked.”

No one would argue that capitalism is “fair”, nor would they argue that life is “fair.” These are things that never were and never will be, but Obama’s reelection campaign theme will be that Americans are suffering because of Capitalism, because of a lack of fairness.

In a December 8 Washington Times commentary, Jeffrey T. Kuhner wrote, “There is only one problem with the White House’s narrative: It’s completely false. Mr. Obama is not a defender of the middle class but has been its mortal enemy. His policies have impoverished working-and-middle-class Americans.”

-By Mauro Zúñiga Araúz

The current problem in the Panamanian cabinet is that the ministers are merged among themselves and with the President. The competition among them is not about productivity, which is close to zero, but about who achieves the dirtiest deals; a high percentage of them end up in the BOSS’ pockets as Papadimitriu, Minister of the Presidency, told the President.

Naturally, there are ministries with greater opportunities to make dirty deals than others, but in all of them, in one way or another, they exist. Some ministers also receive perks, not in cash but in kind, of varying quality. The ministers meet among themselves and with close friends to talk about the type and amount of dirty deals they do daily, weekly or monthly, which are made light of by everyone. The President does not participate in all these parties, who is entertained with even more juicy deals. The problem is that if the President decides to dismiss anyone, as he tried to do a few days ago, the cabinet crisis that ensues can be of such magnitude that it ends up destroying the current government. But in spite of all this and of the merger, cracks are already underway in the cabinet, which may precipitate the crisis by other mechanisms.
