Moderate Republicans Finally Found Someone They Will Fight… Other Republicans

The Republican establishment led by such folks as Senators Mitch McConnell and John McCain don’t want to fight the Democrats. But after this latest Obamacare funding fight, we have discovered that there is a side they will attack: other Republicans.

Those Republicans who voted “yes” on Friday’s cloture vote in the Senate knowingly voted in favor of funding Obamacare. There is no other way around that simple truth.

There was absolutely no doubt that a “yes” vote would give Democrat leader Harry Reid the power to remove all the features that the House put in the budget bill that would defund Obamacare. GOP “yes” voters knew this without doubt. And, true to that assumption, only minutes after the DR was passed with Republican assistance, Reid did just that. He stripped out all aspect of defunding from the CR budget bill.

Yet, twenty-five Republicans voted “yes,” anyway.

Even while these RINO senators were turning tail and running from the fight against Obamacare and refusing to fight the Democrats, they did find a reason to attack someone. They attacked Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and all conservatives that want to be rid of Obamacare.

Big Media Conglomerates Pushing Shield Law

Earlier in the month I reported on the media shield bill recently passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Now that the bill is moving forward through the lawmaking process, a coalition of big media companies are putting their highly paid lobbying muscle behind it.

According to disclosure reports, Time Warner, Hearst Corp., National Public Radio, CBS Corp. and News Corp. are pressing their multi-million-dollar lobbying machines into service to urge Congress to pass the bill into law.

A spokesman for the lobbying firm that represents the Newspaper Association of America noted that a “crisis” helped spur the bill to finally emerge from the Senate Committee, that crisis being the recent prying into journalist’s phone records by Obama’s Department of Justice.

Big media is quite pleased with the current language of the bill as it seems to give them deference in just who is allowed to be called a “journalist.” But not everyone is happy with the bill.

Delusional DC Rep Claims No Terrorism in Navy Yard Shooting, Says DC Safest City in the USA?

Eleanor Norton Holmes is the sole Representative of the District of Columbia in Congress and she is clearly delusional when she says the Navy Yard shooting wasn’t “terrorism.” But it got worse when she then followed that up saying that D.C is one of the safest cities in the USA despite that it has such a high crime/murder rate.

As the attack by the killer, the mentally unstable Aaron Alexis, ended, Norton appeared on television in DC proclaiming that this attack wasn’t “terrorism.”

“There is no indication this was a terrorist event,” Holmes said. “But I hope we all understand that with all these guns loose in the society, it doesn’t take a terrorist to do what was done here today.”

Of course it was terrorism. It wasn’t Islamofascist terror, mind you, but all mass shootings are terrorism.

Norton then went on to laughably claim that Washington D.C. is the safest city in America. No, really. She did…

The fact is that D.C. has a very high crime rate. The capitol city is in the top 25 most dangerous cities in America.

This woman needs to get back on her meds.

Then there was a response to that rally that was planned by patriotic bikers intending to get two million bikers to Washington. Well, now a new wrinkle to the story is out with the city of Washington DC deciding to deny the bikers a permit to do a no-stop ride through even as they allow the terror-approver’s march to take place.

The much criticized Million Muslim March is being planned by a group calling itself the American Muslim Political Action Committee and is nothing less than an effort to stick a terror-supporting finger in American’s collective eye. There is no possible reason to hold a Muslim-supporting event on the very day their cohorts murdered thousands of Americans on Sept. 11, 2001. No other reason unless they want to rub America’s nose in that act of terror.

Last week’s jobs report indicated more of the same for the American people with the economy continuing on a sluggish path. While the unemployment rate dropped to 7.3%, it dropped for all the wrong reasons with the labor force participation rate dropping to its lowest level since 1978. To make matters worse, we also learned that the President’s economy added fewer jobs in July than previously thought.

President Obama Declares Health Insurance is ‘A Right’

During his weekly address from August 17, President Obama declared that health insurance isn’t just a privilege–it’s a right.

The address, titled “Working to Implement the Affordable Care Act,” featured all the President’s well-worn claims about Obamacare that we are used to hearing.

Obama touted the fact that people under 26 can stay on their parent’s insurance, he talked of the “free mammograms,” and celebrated the access to “contraceptive care.” And then, in full demagogic mode, Obama went on to excoriate Republicans for trying to hurt “sick people” and the economy by opposing his Obamacare law.

Warming to his theme, Obama then said, “A lot of Republicans seem to believe that if they can gum up the works and make this law fail, they’ll somehow be sticking it to me. But they’d just be sticking it to you.”

While this is all typical Obama boilerplate, light on facts and heavy on sunny promises and hectoring rhetoric, one point he made was rather fantastic. He declared health insurance to be a right.

The ‘Forced Home Inspections’ in Obamacare Law

New reports are finding that President Obama’s take over of our healthcare system with his Obamacare law will give the government the right to force “inspections” on millions of American homes and your guns may be one of the factors causing a “forced” inspection.

Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) website details the “Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program” which give the government the right to invade any home of families Obama deems is a “high-risk” home.

One of the criteria of an “high-risk” home is the presence of firearms, according to a manual published by HHS in 2006.

Your Taxes Going to Pay for Hotel Rooms for Illegal Aliens

Fox News just found out that the Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is spending thousands of your tax dollars a day on hotel rooms for illegal aliens. One official said this “shouldn’t be happening,” but it is.

Fox found that millions of illegals a year are given temporary status for asylum in the USA and are often given free hotel stays while they wait for a hearing before an immigration judge. Worse, some 600,000 to 800,000 a year don’t bother to show up for their hearings. That means they are wandering about the USA with no accounting for their whereabouts or their legal status.

There are so many, sometimes hundreds per day, that ICE hasn’t anywhere to keep them so they just foot the bill for hotel rooms while they wait. This wait can be weeks and months away from being given their cozy, free hotel rooms paid for by you and me.

Fox found that the numbers of asylum seekers has grown exponentially of late and that these illegals are using “special key words” when they apply for asylum, words the Obama administration has set up as safe words used to give these illegals immediate protected status.

Big Government-Loving Joe Scarborough Slams GOP for Defunding Obamacare Plan

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, once a fairly conservative Republican, is railing against the plan for defunding Obamacare being pushed by Republicans like Senators Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, calling the plan “stupidity,” and saying that conservatives are “too angry” to “win elections.”

On his little watched MSNBC show, Scarborough beat up on Republicans for wanting to “shut down the government.” Of course, this is the left wing’s misconstruction of what Cruz and Lee are saying. There is no “shut down” being proposed, exactly. And it is no surprise that Scarborough is touting the left-wing line since he sold his soul to the left to be on the extremist, left-wing MSNBC network.

In fact, Cruz himself has said shutting down government won’t stop Obamacare, so it is absurd for Scarborough and his left wing comrades to make that leap.

The idea is to pass a budget that funds all of government except Obamacare. That isn’t “shutting down government.”

Obama: Country Would Be ‘Better Off’ If More Worked for Government

President Obama loves him some big government policies, we all know, but now he’s saying that just about everyone should work for the government and if they did the economy would be “better off.” So, who would pay all the taxes if everyone made a living FROM those taxes? He doesn’t seem to have an answer to that one.

In a July 29 speech on the economy, President Obama claimed that the country would be better off if the federal government and local city, county and state governments would hire more people.

Obama made these absurd comments at the Amazon.com Shipping Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a speech that is part of his re-re-re-pivot to the economy and jobs. You know, because he’s been soooo successful with those efforts in the past.

Obama carped that cities like Chicago laid off “700,000 workers at the federal, state and local levels of government lost their jobs.” But this is no less because those cities and governments face a budget doomsday over all the undeserved union demands in pay, pensions and benefits they were doused with in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Now that those undeserved bills forced on taxpayers by government union thugs is coming due, many cities around the country have laid off workers and put a freeze on more hiring. Obama is upset at this.

On Tuesday Fox News released a report that revealed Obama’s plan to use psychology and “behavioral insights” to cajole America into accepting his way of thinking.

“The federal government is hiring what it calls a ‘Behavioral Insights Team’ that will look for ways to subtly influence people’s behavior,” Fox reports.

The newser found that these “insights” teams are already fanning out across several government departments to help them fine-tune the message to fool Americans into thinking Obama’s ideas are just what we need to cure our nation’s ills (you know, the ones Obama caused in the first place).

Frmr Congressman Walsh: Illinois GOP Delegation Wants me to Stay Out of Washington

Joe Walsh was, to say the least, a firebrand as the Congressman for the Illinois 8th District during his one term in Congress. He lost his re-election bid in the 2012 cycle, but while he was out there in D.C. he was always in the news for one thing or another that he said or did. Apparently he was such a firebrand that all our current GOP Congressmen have told Joe not to run for Congress again!

Walsh appeared at an event in Wauconda, Illinois on Sunday, July 28, and told the crowd that he’s poked around with his former colleagues as to whether or not they’d support him for another run for Congress if he should decide to try.

Joe said that his former pals are less than enthused, if you will.

Some say that the reason his form colleagues don’t want him around is so that they can “fold like a cheap tent” in the face of Democrat demands and his presence in D.C. makes that harder to do.

Missouri Legislature’s Bipartisan Move to Override Gov’s Veto of Nullification of Federal Gun Laws

The Missouri legislature passed a bill that would essentially nullify any federal interference in the state’s gun laws. But Governor Jay Nixon vetoed the bill telling the legislature that they could not oppose the federal government (so much for the 10th Amendment, eh?).

Early in July the governor vetoed a bill that would have made it a state crime for federal officials to attempt to enforce federal gun laws. The bill also would have made it a crime for journalists and activists to publish the names and addresses of gun owners in the state.

Governor Nixon said that the law violated the supremacy clause of the U.S. Constitution giving the federal government preference over state laws. He also noted that the bill violated the freedom of the press and free speech.

So, here is an amusing one: Obama created a call center for Americans to call in and find out about how Obamacare will “help” them out. But the call center is stocked with mostly part time jobs and isn’t paying any healthcare benefits to its employees.

As Eliana Johnson notes at NRO’s The Corner, “Obama administration announced last month that it is setting up a call center that will be accessible to Americans 24 hours a day” so that Americans could call in with questions about the President’s government takeover of our healthcare system.

But contrary to what the President has said he wants–more full time jobs and healthcare for everyone–the new jobs in his call center will have neither.

These days, in absence of computers it would be hard for Capitol Hill to conduct any business. But in the late 1960s, the new technology was a novelty in a world of typewriters and the ever-reliable pen and paper. In this 1967 photo, Speaker John McCormack and House Majority Leader Carl Albert learn to use the first computer in the House. That year, just three computers were on Capitol Hill, according to the Office of the House Historian — one for the Senate sergeant-at-arms, one for the Legislative Reference Service and one for the clerk of the House. The machines were used for inventory, payroll and other accounting work, according to the historian’s office.

Feds Repeal ‘Domestic Propaganda’ Ban

With the updating of the Smith-Mundt Act, some are criticizing the repeal of rules that banned certain government-sponsored news broadcasts–such as Voice of America–from being aired inside the USA.

John Hudson of Foreign Policy, for instance, calls the move a “repeal” of the ban on government propaganda and says it will unleash “thousands of hours per week of government-funded radio and TV programs for domestic U.S. consumption.”

“Until this month,” Hudson says, “a vast ocean of U.S. programming produced by the Broadcasting Board of Governors such as Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, and the Middle East Broadcasting Networks could only be viewed or listened to at broadcast quality in foreign countries.”

But with new amendments to the Smith-Mundt Act, those broadcast outlets will for the first time be allowed to broadcast inside the USA programming meant to appeal to specific communities.

Politico Hits Issa for ‘Little Boy’ Comment

During a hearing of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Chairman Darrell Issa used an old saying to describe committee member and ranking Democrat Elijah Cummings and despite that Cummings averred that he understood the comment and took no offense, but making a mountain out of a mole hill, Politico reported the incident as a “controversy.”

On July 18, Issa noted that Cummings was like “a little boy with his hand caught in the cookie jar,” an old saying that describes someone that got caught taking something or being somewhere he shouldn’t. It is not a race-based saying.

“I’m always shocked when the ranking member seems to want to say, like a little boy whose hand has been caught in a cookie jar, ‘What hand? What cookie?’ I’ve never said it leads to the White House,” Issa said during the hearing.

Hours later, Issa felt compelled to make sure everyone knew that his comment had no racial component to it.

New York Times Attacking Messenger Over Anti-Obamacare Ads

All the mud-slinging that’s fit to print is apparently The New York Times’ revised motto if a recent editorial attacking a pair of video ads that raise questions about Obamacare is any indication as the Times decides to spend half its editorial attacking the character of some donors to the group that put out the ads instead of sticking to the issues.

The ads were put out by Americans for Prosperity, a group that counts as donors a pair of famous conservative brothers that serve as the left’s biggest boogiemen: the Koch brothers.

The Times spends its first four paragraphs attacking the Kochs on a personal level. Calling them liars, employing class warfare against them, and saying–get out your tinfoil hat, here–they hide their real agenda because it is just soooo evil.

In fact, I almost feel compelled to spell Koch Brothers with a capital “B” in brothers as the phrase has become a noun to the left in their effort to demonize the pair. And, interestingly, as the Times spends so much energy on excoriating the conservative philanthropists it must be noted that the pair are not in control of the ads or their content. The ads were put out by Americans for Prosperity, a group to which the Kochs are but donors–major donors, sure, but not wholly controlling donors.

Oh, the paper does finally get to refuting some of the points in the two AFP ads, but even there they unleash liberal trope instead of cogent analysis.

But as the “paper of record” falls all over itself to take Obamacare’s promises at face value without spending much effort to really looking at the facts, even President Obama’s own administration has lost confidence in the federal takeover of our healthcare system.

Rep. Bachmann: Finish Border Fence Before Immigration Reform

USA Today recently put a negative spin on Minnesota Republican Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann’s position about the so-called “Gang of Eight’s” immigration reform bill, characterizing her point as a mere attempt to “kill the immigration overhaul,” yet her points were more nuanced than that.

The paper claims that Bachmann “contends immigrants who came to the United States illegally shouldn’t be rewarded with legal status” and went on to note that she opposes any of the current ideas being floated for immigration reform.

But Bachmann has not said that she doesn’t ever want to deal with the millions of illegal immigrants in the U.S., but that she simply wants to secure the border before any further discussion on what to do with those immigrants is had.

237 Independence Days and Counting, But What Does it all Mean?

Today America enjoys the celebration of 237 years of existence as a nation by noting the day we declared our independence from our Mother nation, England. Sadly, that celebration has, for too many, become the “July Fourth” holiday, a day of picnics, rote parades, “white sales,” and for some a day off work. Of course, we should not and don’t celebrate any “July Fourth.” We celebrate Independence Day, the day we formally separated from our parent nation and took those first unsure steps into the world as a nation of our own.

So, what is this Independence Day all about? Well, for one thing we celebrate the gifts that our Creator has given us. That’s right, our Founding Fathers started this nation celebrating the gifts of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and those natural rights given to us by God, rights that no man can tax away from us, rights no man can legitimately take by force.

Contrary to the God averse America we have stumbled into, the Declaration mentions God, the Creator, or the divine multiple times and the Founders rested their entire claim of liberty and freedom on the claim that no government can legitimately take away the natural rights that mankind should and must enjoy.

The fact is the Founders did not want a nation free from religion (there is no such founding principle as a “wall of separation” as many think of it today, but that is another story for another day). This is not a Godless nation, but a nation based on Christian ideals.

Secondly, the Declaration of Independence is also a list of the wrongs and slights that England perpetrated against us. In the list of crimes against us that the English Crown and Parliament perpetrated against us is detailed many of the rights that free men must enjoy to truly be free men. This list of slights is not just stuffy old history but are timeless principles which should guide all men even today.

And lastly, to that “all men” point just noted. Our Founders did not write a Declaration that only pertained to their situation in their focused pint in history. Instead they wrote a document to inspire every people to take up freedom and liberty as their own. The Declaration of Independence is not just a document for America. It is one that should inspire all men everywhere to throw off the shackles of government-imposed slavery. It is a document that is not just for the nascent American people, but one that insists, “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

The Declaration of Independence is for humanity. Not just America.

And so that is also our charge. Freedom is a cause for all men, not just Americans. The United States should not shrink from the charge to aid and encourage freedom and liberty for all men.

Nancy Pelosi Recommends We ‘Celebrate’ Obamacare on July 4th

California Democrat, Representative Nancy Pelosi recently informed the nation that July Fourth isn’t just for fireworks and dissing the Brits any more. It is also the day we should “celebrate” Obamacare.

Sure July Fourth is traditionally celebrated as the day we declared independence from Great Britain, an action that preceded the Revolutionary War and set the tone for our nascent nation. But now it has another significance. As far as Pelosi is concerned it is “health independence” day, too.

“Next week, when we celebrate Independence Day we’ll also be observing health independence,” Pelosi said during a press briefing recorded by CSPAN. She goes on to say that, “this week marks one year since the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act. It captures the spirit of our founders. The spirit they wrote in the Declaration of Independence… So, we’ve had Social Security, Medicare, and now health independence, and that’s something our members will take home to celebrate over this Independence Day.”

Pelosi also bent history to chide the GOP saying that if Paul Revere was a Republican, today he would be running through the streets shouting “sequester is coming!”

Feminist Magazine Cosmopolitan to Push Obamacare on Readers

Barack Obama has been reaching out to all sorts of non-government partners in a renewed effort to push his Obamacare law. The President’s latest Obamacare-pushing partner will be the famed women’s magazine Cosmopolitan.

In its fall issues, Cosmo will begin to publish multiple feature articles extolling the virtues of Obamacare, will inform readers on how to sign up and will celebrate the many benefits they might realize by accepting the all-encompassing law.

The magazine’s editor-in-chief, Joanna Coles, says that she feels her role as Obamacare flack is pivotal. “This stuff is really important. It’s life-changing for a lot of people.”

Lifesitenews.com also reports that the Cosmo website and social media sites will also be infused with Obamacare propaganda.

Has DOJ Given McConnell Bugging Suspect ‘Journalist’ Status?

A recent Politico story seems to indicate that the Department of Justice is stymied on its prosecution of the political activist that recorded a private campaign meeting between Senator Mitch McConnell and his staff because the DOJ considers the activist a “journalist” and wants to tread gingerly as a result.

The “bugging” incident came to light early in April when a recording of the private, closed-door meeting was released by Mother Jones magazine. It was soon revealed that Curtis Morrison, a political activist that works for the left wing political group Progress Kentucky, used his flip cam to record what he could hear of the meeting through a closed door in McConnell’s Senate offices.

Even with charges of illegal recording–essentially a bugging–Morrison is unbowed. In an op ed in Salon.com he was defiant saying he’d do it all over again, illegal or not.
