The 16 RINOs That Voted for Anti-Gun Bill That DOESN’T EXIST!

-By Warner Todd Huston

There are sixteen Republican senators that need to be eliminated. These are the sixteen reputed Republicans that voted for the Democrat’s gun ban bill. It is bad enough these anti-Constitution Republicans joined the extreme left in this endeavor, of course, but even worse they all voted for a bill that doesn’t even exist.

The GOP’s sold-out sixteen voted to shelve a filibuster and allow the anti-Second Amendment bill to go through based on their understanding of the Toomey/Manchin compromise, but the problem here is that there isn’t any bill to debate. Why? Because the neither Toomey nor Manchin have written one yet.

Before we go on, here are the sixteen Republicans that stand against the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution (and the office phone numbers).

Lindsey Graham (SC) (202) 224-5972
Lamar Alexander (TN) (202) 224-4944
Kelly Ayotte (NH) (202) 224-3324
Richard Burr (NC) (202) 224-3154
Saxby Chambliss (GA) (202) 224-3521
John McCain (AZ) (202) 224-2235
Tom Coburn (OK) (202) 224-5754
Susan Collins (ME) (202) 224-2523
Bob Corker (TN) (202) 224-3344
Jeff Flake (AZ) (202) 224-4521
John Hoeven (ND) (202) 224-2551
Johnny Isakson (GA) (202) 224-3643
Dean Heller (NV) (202) 224-6244
Mark Kirk (IL) (202) 224-2854
Pat Toomey (PA) (202) 224-4254
Roger Wicker (MS) (202) 224-6253

Earlier in the day, before the sold-out sixteen cast their votes against the Constitution, Senator’s Mike Lee (R, UT) and Ted Cruz (R, TX) put out a joint statement that got to the nub of the matter.

MSNBC Host Says ‘Get Over It,’ Kids Belong to Community, Not Parents

-By Warner Todd Huston

Liberal cable TV network MSNBC recently aired a corker of a promo, this one showing on-air personality Melissa Harris-Perry saying that our kids aren’t ours, that they belong to the community and parents need to “get over” this crazy idea that their own kids belong to them.

Straight from the Comintern, Harris-Perry says that we could “plan our investments” better if we could just dispense with the idea that kids belong to parents and that parents should have the responsibility to raise them according to the parents’ ideals and principles. All hail the state who, in Harris-Perry’s views, isn’t just big brother, but is also big mother and big father.

Here is a transcript of what the MSNBC screedist said on the promo:

America’s Sheriff, Joe Arpaio, Stands Alone Against Unions And Outsiders in Recall Effort

-By Warner Todd Huston

Only three weeks after re-election in 2012, Sheriff Joe Arpaio was hit with a recall effort. Now, with anti-Arpaio petitions in circulation in Maricopa County, Arizona, “America’s Sheriff” is organizing his forces to oppose a recall backed by the deep pockets of the unions, millions in outside money, and a flood of non-Arizonans arriving to act as the left-winger’s ground troops. (See www.savesheriffjoe.org)

Arpaio’s team is being ramrodded by the Conservative Business League and unlike the opposition’s recall efforts, the CBL is an Arizona-based organization. The duo taking the helm of the save Joe campaign is the CBL’s Ron Ludders and Bob Thomas.

Ludders and Thomas say that the left’s effort to destroy Sheriff Joe Arpaio is no less than an effort to use the Colorado model (the campaign that turned Colorado from red to blue) to give Arizona to the Democrats. It is also a mirror of what the left tried to do to Republican Governor Scott Walker in Wisconsin and, if successful, would be a model for Democrats to regain power in Texas.

Strangely, Arizona’s recall law is incredibly loose. An elected official in The Grand Canyon State can be recalled for any reason at all and, with one exception, at any time. Unlike such laws in most states, the Arizona law does not require a recall for cause such as criminal activity, fraud, or other real reasons. The only rule seems to be that the elected official has to be in office for six months into his first term before a recall can be mounted. This rule did not apply to the six-term Sheriff. To start a recall, petitioners must gather the signatures of 25 percent of the number of votes cast in the last election.

Barack Obama: The Best Lying Demagogue Ever to Infest the White House

-By Warner Todd Huston

As he disgustingly used law enforcement officials as a back drop in Colorado, President Obama uttered a few lines about his un-Constitutional gun grabbing policy ideas that truly proves he’s the best lying demagogue to ever sit in the Oval Office.

Obama had a message about elected officials, who they are, and what they want to do about Obama’s anti-Second Amendment crusade. But his phrasing of the subject is particularly interesting. He turned the truth on its head, made anyone that stands for the Second Amendment into a nut case, and dismissed any thought that government could be used as a tool of oppression despite the whole of human history proving him otherwise. And he wrapped up by hinting that anyone that stands against him wants more kids to die.

Here is what he said:

Now, notice the conceit, here. Obama is trying to ridicule anyone that supports the Second Amendment for its real, actual purpose–as a check on government oppression. He is trying to make it seem that Second Amendment supporters are nuts or even dangerous, but at the very least dismissible because they understand the true purpose of the Second Amendment.

Foreign Policy Mag Maligns Ted Cruz as ‘Most Hated Man in the Senate’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Foreign Policy magazine has made the stark pronouncement about Texas Senator Ted Cruz. According to FP’s Erica Grieder, Cruz is “the most hated man in the U.S. Senate.”

In a March 29 piece, Grieder made this extreme pronouncement based on the new Senator’s outspoken positions on many issues as well as on how irksome he is to old guard Senators who imagine that first year colleagues should be seen and not heard.

Grieder starts her piece with several gratuitous insults. Right off she says that Cruz is “the human equivalent of one of those flower-squirters that clowns wear on their lapels.” She then calls his initiatives and ideas “non-sequiturs” and says they are “self-defeating.” This was all just the first paragraph.

Next we learn that Cruz has “irritated” Democrats like Dianne Feinstein and been a “headache for GOP leaders.” This all because he stands up strongly for his principles and the positions that got him elected.

Does this really make him “hated,” though? He may elicit distaste in these old guard Senators and in those Senators that stand squarely against his principles, but “hated”? That is quite a subjective assessment.

LA Times: NRA’s School Plan ‘A Hail of Bullets Will Protect Everyone’

-By Warner Todd Huston

The National Rifle Association recently put out its National School Shield proposal elucidating its ideas on adding more security in the nation’s schools. And right on cue, the Los Angeles Times ridicules the NRA’s plan as but “a hail of bullets” that “will protect everyone.”

In an editorial from April 2, the L.A. Times’ Robin Abcarian opens her piece with a series of jokes lambasting the NRA’s plan as, “a kiddie version of the National Missile Defense program. Star Wars for Schoolyards. A hail of bullets will protect everyone!”

The NRA debuted its National School Shield initiative with front man Asa Hutchinson, a former Republican Congressman from Arkansas, leading a full court press campaign. Hutchinson’s pitch essentially stated that at least one armed security guard be stationed at every American school. This, Hutchinson said, would increase response times to attacks.

This idea–one guard at every school–is what Abcarian characterized as “a kiddie version of Star Wars” and a “hail of bullets” that would protect everyone.

Should Congressional Staffers Have Their Private Twitter Accounts Published?

-By Warner Todd Huston

A Congressional watchdog group called LegiStorm has announced a sweeping new project aimed at government transparency. But part of that project has staffers on Capitol Hill crying foul because it lists all their private Twitter accounts.

On April 3, LegiStorm announced its new StormFeed tool saying it is a, “real-time, full-text searchable access to every official press release and official tweet from Capitol Hill plus the tweets of thousands of congressional staffers.”

But many staffers began to complain when they began finding their own private info on the thing. Worse, many found out of date or simply wrong info on it. As one staffer told Politico, “I was pretty surprised to show that they even listed who I married, when I married him and where. Why in the world does that need to be in there?”

Politico also said this: “A Democratic staffer said the new feature brings an unwelcome level of scrutiny to a group of people who haven’t sought the spotlight.”

Democrat or no, isn’t this staffer correct, here?

Pro-Life Students Compared to White Supremacists at Johns Hopkins University

-By Warner Todd Huston

In March, the pro-life student group Voice For Live was denied the status of official student club by the Student Government Association at Johns Hopkins University. And even as VFL was compared to white supremacists, racists, and deemed undesirable, the SGA approved a new group called Students for Justice in Palestine despite that the latter group has a history of anti-Semitism and campus disruption.

The SGA (SGA) voted on March 12 to deny Voice For Life (VFL )the right to become an officially sanctioned club. The vote against VFL was later upheld by the SGA senate.

To explain its decision, the SGA claimed that the pro-life group’s national website is “offensive” because one of its links takes visitors to the website for Bio-Ethical Reform. The SGA also claimed that because the pro-life group engages in sidewalk counseling at a Baltimore abortion facility, that “clearly violates the JHU Harassment and Code of Conduct policies.”

President of Students for Life of America Kristen Hawkins told Fox News that they were shocked to be denied club status.

“We were pretty shocked when the students showed their bias toward the pro-life students,” Hawkins said.

VP Biden Still Lobbying for Gun Control

-By Warner Todd Huston

Vice President Joe Biden is again plying the phones calling his former colleagues on Capitol Hill bending ears over the President’s gun control ideas. His calls are coming on a “near-daily basis” as Obama mounts another push for gun control.

Biden has held private meetings with Republican Senators such as John McCain (Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.) and, Johnny Isakson (Ga.), and will be haunting the offices of Capitol Hill in the days ahead.

It appears that President Obama is relying on Biden to leverage the relationships he had built when he was a long-serving Senator from Delaware to cajole Congress into acquiescing to new gun control laws.

“President Obama is the strategist and Vice President Biden is the tactician,” Democratic consultant Chris Kofinis told The Hill. “I think the president is laying out the frame, the message, the vision about where we need to go and why. The vice president understands how to make that happen. You have two interlocking pieces that work very well together.”

Republicans, however, scoff at the idea that Biden is an effective negotiator.

Dr. Ben Carson Bows to Pressure to Apologize for ‘Gay Remark’

-By Warner Todd Huston

In an appearance on MSNBC, Neurosurgeon Ben Carson bowed to pressure to apologize for remarks about traditional marriage he made early last week on the Sean Hannity show.

Appearing with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell on March 29, Carson tried to explain what he meant with his earlier comments about traditional marriage and made to walk back his thoughts on how marriage should be defined.

“I think in terms of what was said on Sean Hannity’s show, that was taken completely out of context and completely misunderstood in terms of what I was trying to say,” Dr. Carson said. “As a Christian, I have a duty to love all people and that includes people who have other sexual orientations, and I certainly do, and never had any intention of offending anyone… If anyone was offended, I apologize to you.”

Carson’s back tracking occurred after MSNBC and other left-wing pundits immediately attacked him for his Tuesday, March 26 appearance on Hannity..

Compared to his later MSNBC appearance, Carson was more definitive on Hannity’s show. “My thoughts are that marriage is between a man and a woman. It’s a well-established fundamental pillar of society and no group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality, it doesn’t matter what they are, they don’t get to change the definition,” Carson said on Hannity’s broadcast.

In this eighteen minute video you will encounter a woman that is extremely vital and at 89-years-of-age still sharp as a tack.

As is her wont, Schlafly eschewed kid gloves with her frank discussion of the GOP establishment and how those effete, east coast, country clubbers are at war with the conservative, Midwestern grassroots.

Race Card: New York Times Distorts NYPD Commander’s Words

-By Warner Todd Huston

In a front page story, The New York Times intimated that race was a deciding factor in how the New York Police Department determines who to stop in it’s proactive stop and frisk policy that has helped drive crime down to its lowest rate in many decades. The Times reports the words of a police commander secretly recorded during an evaluation with a patrolman but “the paper of record” distorts his words and leaves key parts of the recording out of its analysis making the commander seem to be basing his criteria solely on race.

In the March 21 piece, the Times sonorously informs readers that, “a recording suggests that, in at least one precinct, a person’s skin color can be a deciding factor in who is stopped,” and goes on to selectively report what is on that recording leading readers to think the policy is all about race.

This recording was played during a class action lawsuit questioning the NYPD’s stop-and-frisk policy, a tactic that NYC officials in both the police department and city government credit for the huge drop in crime across the Big Apple. The suit also alleges that there are racial quotas in the policy that “encourage officers to stop people unlawfully.”

The Gray Lady, reports that the police commander, Deputy Inspector Christopher McCormack, urged the officer, Patrolman Pedro Serrano, to stop and frisk “the right people at the right time, the right location.”

The criteria for this policy, the Times leads readers to believe, is race-based.

Florida’s Thug Police Chief Eric Liff is Wrong About Everything

-By Warner Todd Huston

Former Cocoa, Florida police Chief Eric Liff is full of crapola when it comes to his wild-eyed beliefs about the National Rifle Association. Liff, however, is right about one thing: he shouldn’t be made to join the NRA against his will. Unfortunately for this grandstander, his point is moot because he isn’t in that position at all.

Liff is upset that the Seminole County Gun & Archery Association has a requirement for members. Before they can use the association’s facilities they must also become a member of the NRA.

Liff was fired as Cocoa’s police chief in the late 1990s and unsuccessfully attempted to sue the city to get his job back in 1999.

Colt Firearms Threatens to Leave Connecticut Over Strict Gun Laws

-By Warner Todd Huston

Continuing the trend of firearms related companies that have been contemplating moving their businesses out of states instituting strict gun control laws, Colt Manufacturing is now considering a move out of Connecticut after 175 years in business. This is due to the new gun bans being mulled by the state legislature and Democrat Governor Dannel Malloy.

Colt President and CEO Dennis Veilleux published an op ed in the Hartford Currant asking why it makes any sense that Colt Manufacturing stay in Connecticut.

Veilleux says that the “economic advantage” his company has brought to Hartford for the last 175 years “is in grave danger.”

“What’s most astounding.” Veilleux wrote, “is our advantage is not being taken away–it’s being given away.”

As Local Police Beg for Ammo, Dept. of Homeland Security Orders 1.6 Billion Rounds

-By Warner Todd Huston

As local police departments across the country are beginning to find ammunition difficult to find, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has ordered up to 1.6 billion rounds for its more than 100,000 armed agents.

Rep. Timothy Huelskamp (R-Kansas) has been attempting to get DHS to explain why it is ordering so many rounds, but the Congressman has reported that the department has thus far refused to answer some key questions submitted by members of Congress.

In a news report, Police Chief Cameron Arthur of Jenks, Oklahoma says that his department and others are starting to have trouble getting rounds for their officers. Some departments are even starting to barter with each other to fulfill needs because suppliers cannot fill orders.

“Ammunition and assault weapons in general have skyrocketed. In the past, $3,000 would get us several rifles or a great deal of ammunition. But we have seen prices go up 30, 40, 50 percent. In addition… the time to get it could be six months to a year, or in some cases even longer,” Arthur said.

Faux Sequester: U.S. Dept. of Ed Offers New, Six-Figure Job

-By Warner Todd Huston

Even as the Department of Education prepares to make cuts to federally-funded schools on Native American reservations, DOE is also offering a new six-figure job to promote “Educational Excellence for African-Americans.” Worse, the job seems to be going to a an adviser to Democrat Representative Charlie Rangel.

Reports note that Native American schools in Minnesota are freezing salaries, leaving job openings unfilled, enlarging classroom sizes, and making other cost savings moves to satisfy demands being enforced by the Dept. of Education.

Among those cuts in Minnesota, the White Earth Reservation tribal school may cut the school year down to save money and Red Lake School District has cut security staff.

Minnesota’s Democrat Representative Betty McCollum is calling the cuts “indefensible.”

These Senators Voted to Give Away Your Second Amendment Rights to the UN

Would you like to meet the Democrats that voted to destroy your Second Amendment rights? Would you like to meet those traitorous Senators that voted to give the power over your rights to the United Nations?

Fortunately, the odious, anti-American treaty was again voted down by the full Senate, but 46 Senators voted in favor of handing over our Constitutional rights to the UN.

Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) offered Amendment 139 that was passed with a 53 to 46 vote. His Amendment contained language to affirm that foreign treaties would not trump the U.S. Constitution.

“Mr. President,” Inhofe said on the floor of the Senate, “I want to make sure that everyone understands what the United Nations trade treaty is. The trade treaty is a treaty that cedes our authority to have trade agreements with our allies in terms of trading arms.”

Sen. Schumer Quietly Adds Extreme Measures to Gun Sellers Bill

-By Warner Todd Huston

Senator Chuck Schumer (D, NY) has quietly added a slew of new measures to his self-sponsored gun control bill currently making its way through the Senate.

Schumer has been battling to get his Protecting Responsible Gun Sellers Act of 2013 (S 374)–now to be called the Fix Gun Checks Act of 2013–passed into law, but one of the early problems with the bill was that it was essentially a shell or placeholder bill–a bill not completely written at the time of introduction.

Ostensibly, Schumer’s bill is meant to change current laws to require that all firearms sales initiate a background check on the buyer before the sale is legal. Currently, private, non-gun merchant citizens are exempt from performing background checks when they sell guns to other private citizens.

Sources: NRA Won’t Oppose New Background Check Legislation

A new reports claims that Senate insiders are saying that the National Rifle Association will not oppose new gun control measures that will require universal background checks on all gun sales, including those between private citizens, but only if certain records keeping requirements are removed.

NBC reports that unnamed Senate aides say that the NRA will not oppose Senator Chuck Schumer’s (D, NY) universal background check proposal (S. 436) if the bill does not require private gun owners to maintain records of the background checks filed with the government.

Officially the NRA is denying the claims of these unnamed Senate aides. “We do not take positions on hypotheticals,” said NRA lobbyist Chris Cox. “We will make our position known if and when legislation is introduced.”

ABC’s Latest Misleading Gun Poll

-By Warner Todd Huston

ABC has released the results of another gun poll claiming that support for background checks at gun shows has “vast public support.” But neither the poll nor ABC’s report notes that background checks already routinely occur at gun shows.

The poll focused on the various gun control bills currently coursing through Congress with one question asking whether or not respondents support “requiring background checks on people buying guns at gun shows.”

Pointing out that Congress is considering a bill (S. 436) that would expand background checks, ABC reports that “a nearly unanimous 91 percent favor mandatory background checks on gun show sales.”

This question pertains to the so-called “gun show loophole” and misleads people into imagining that background checks are not required at gun shows simply because they are gun shows. The fact is, though, that every licensed gun dealer is required to perform background checks on every gun sale whether he sells his wares at a gun show or from his own shop.

In other words, the gun show itself has nothing to do with this issue.

CPAC 2013: Mitt Romney Speaks

-By Warner Todd Huston

Apologizing for not winning the last election, a chastened and humbled Mitt Romney came before the crowd at CPAC here today vowing to be a “coworker” with conservatives to get the country back on the right track.

Romney entered the stage to loud applause, some of the loudest for the day. His appearance certainly seemed to find approval with this crowd.

His speech was very good. One wag noted that he may be the most inspiring loser ever.

The former GOP nominee for President spoke all in big terms today, not much getting down in the weeds of specific programs. He was stopped occasionally by respectful and sometimes enthusiastic applause. He ended to a standing ovation, as well.

One thing is sure, the crowds at CPAC are mainstream Republicans as opposed to strictly hard right conservatives. If this crowd were more hardcore a moderate like Mitt Romney would never have been received, nominee or no, as well as he has been here in the last three years.

Piers Morgan: We All ‘Need The Nanny State Occasionally’

-By Warner Todd Huston

CNN’s Piers Morgan sees no reason why America shouldn’t turn into a nanny state. During his March 11 broadcast, Morgan insisted that, “people need the nanny state occasionally.”

With guest Christine Quinn, on his late evening CNN talk show Morgan lamented what he felt was a bad decision by a New York judge who shut down Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s soda ban. Morgan was all in for a politician deciding for all of us what we are and what we aren’t allowed to eat.

During the discussion, Quinn said she disagreed with banning foods saying that the focus should be on expanding choice for healthy foods not just having government “say no” to the supposed bad choices. Interestingly, Quinn is a Bloomberg ally, a Democrat, and the President of the New York City Council, yet was still arguing against this particular nanny state action.

Regardless, Morgan, a British citizen, disagreed with his guest.

“This is where I disagree with you. I think people need the nanny state occasionally. Particularly on issues like smoking, drinking, guzzling sodas that are too big for them, you know, eating sixteen Big Macs a day, whatever it may be, the reality is we all need a bit of nannying about that that’s why so many people are on diets. That’s a form of nanny state,” Morgan said.

The CNN talker also took to Twitter to ask why Mayor Bloomberg’s nannyism is such a bad thing.

“If a Mayor can’t do things to make his city’s populace healthier – what’s the point of his job? Bloomberg’s 100% right on supersized soda,” he Tweeted on March 11.

Just as the soda ban was to kick in, New York state Supreme Court Judge Milton Tingling put a halt to the rule saying Bloomberg’s new ban was illicit because he went around the City Council to implement it.

The ban, Judge Tingling said, would “not only violate the separation of powers doctrine, it would eviscerate it.”

This is why so many Americans look askance at immigrants like Morgan. They come here and bring their socialist ideas with them from their armpit countries instead of coming here to learn how to be an American. Go back to Britain, Piers. Your socialist, nanny-state nonsense is not wanted here.

Obama Trying to Deport Homeschooling Family

-By Warner Todd Huston

In 2010 a federal immigration judge awarded political asylum to a family whose German government was persecuting for having the temerity to homeschool their children. Now, three years later, the Obama administration seems poised to reverse that decision and deport the family back to Germany.

Uwe Romeike, his wife, and children were told that they could stay as legal residents in Morrisstown, Tennessee, when the family moved there in 2008 after being threatened by German authorities because they homeschooled their children instead of sending them to government schools.

In 2010, Mr. Romeike told reporters that, “I think it’s important for parents to have the freedom to choose the way their children can be taught.”

German authorities felt differently, though. The Romeikes were threatened with jail in the homeland unless they ceased homeschooling and turned their children over to the state.

Dear Government: You Can’t MAKE Me Buy A Gun, Either

-By Warner Todd Huston

I stand 100% against any government leach or placeman telling me I cannot have a gun. It is unconstitutional and violates my God-given civil rights. But, I am just as much against the same class of people telling me I must own a gun.

A town in Maine is the newest town to put in place a rule that mandates that residents buy and own a gun. This sort of rule has been known in small towns in Idaho, Georgia and Texas, as well. But this requirement is no more in keeping with the Constitution than laws in big cities that try to outlaw ownership of guns–itself also a total violation of the U.S. Constitution.

This week the city fathers in the small town of Byron, Maine, are making news for sponsoring a new ordinance making gun ownership mandatory.

Of course, the rule is meant less to force everyone to buy a gun than it is to make sure that laws saying they can’t would be nullified. But, if held to the letter of this law, this pro-gun mandate would violate freedom of choice just as much as outright bans on guns.
