VIDEO: Jackie Walorski for Indiana’s Second District

-By Warner Todd Huston

The next in my Challengers Series of video interviews with candidates for Congress takes us to Indiana’s Second Congressional District. Jackie Walorski is running represent the northwestern corner of the Hoosier State — sometimes called the Michiana region.

The Second is currently held by Democrat Joe Donnelly who is not running for reelection. Donnelly is instead looking to take Richard Lugar’s Senate seat (Lugar himself faces a primary challenge by Indiana Treasurer Richard Mourdock).

Walorski seems a serious candidate, ready for business and well informed about the issues. She has served in the State House of Representatives for the 21st District since 2005.

Rep. Walorski just barely lost a bid to defeat Donnelly in 2010, Donnelly beating her by a mere one percent. But before that race, Walorski has quite a record of defeating candidates. Her three terms in the State House were each won handily.

So, it’s Walorski for the Indiana Second.

Fired ESPN Editor Claims no Racial Slam Meant with ‘Chink in Armor’ Headline

-By Warner Todd Huston

The headline written by ESPN editor Anthony Federico about Asian-American basketball star Jeremy Lin lasted only about a half hour before ESPN changed it but the fallout is lasting a bit longer for editor Federico.

On its Saturday story on Jeremy Lin’s less than stellar game the night before, ESPN’s headline screamed, “Chink in the Armor.”

Sports fans were riled at this apparent racial allusion – player Jeremy being of Asian background — and ESPN pulled the headline down quickly. In this age of Internet outrage-of-the-day stories, this one was a natural to get attention.

As the day rolled on, ESPN decided not to just change the headline but to fire its writer, editor Anthony Federico.

Today, Federico is defending himself to a degree and apologizing profusely.

CPAC VIDEO: E.J Otero for Florida!

-By Warner Todd Huston

Next in my Challenger Series of videos made of up and coming GOP candidates for Congress is a Mr. E. J. Otero who is running for Florida’s 11th Congressional District.

Otero is a retired Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. Born in Puerto Rico, Otero’s father was a broadcaster and was a host of Voice of America-Radio Marti. E.J. has a Master’s Degree in International Relations from Troy and also attended the U.S. Air War College.

The Colonel was at U.S. Central Command working intelligence during Enduring Freedom in 2001 as well as Iraqi Freedom afterward. He also led negotiations with Special Operations partner countries such as Colombia, Poland, France, Jordan and the UK.

Otero’s already been likened to Allen West for his true-blue patriotism and outspoken nature.

We Need YOUR Help to Fight Voter Fraud in Wisconsin Recall Elections

Patriots are fighting to uphold the integrity of the election process in Wisconsin WILL YOU HELP?

Wisconsin is Just the Beginning.

In an effort to oust Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker (along with the Lieutenant Governor and 4 Senators) the union backed group United Wisconsin led a massive drive to fill petition pages by any means necessary, flooding Wisconsin’s Government Accountability Board with more signatures than anyone ever expected. When the GAB stated they couldn’t process such an influx and planned only to do visual spot checks, True the Vote decided to take action. True the Vote, together with Wisconsin GrandSons of Liberty and We the People of the Republic, launched an effort to engage citizens in an independent, comprehensive audit of recall petition signatures. Why? Because if government can’t or won’t stand up to such Cloward and Piven-esque strategies, then citizens must.

Fellow Patriots, It’s Go Time!

We need your help! All we ask for is 100 minutes. In 100 minutes you can enter data for approximately 100 petition signatures. Nearly 13,000 volunteers from 49 states have signed up to participate in this recall effort – if we all work together this weekend, we can get the job done. This is the real deal – citizens are taking control – let’s stand together!

We Can See the Finish Line

Ours is the only effort with manpower and technology to crowd-source the 152,000+ documents that were meant to drown the GAB and we are 75% of the way done. But WE NEED MORE HELP to get all the signatures entered and THE CLOCK IS TICKING! All challenges in the Walker recall are due on February 27th. We want to post our findings online by February 25th. This timetable requires all signatures to be entered by February 23rd at the latest. Citizens have already found tens of thousands of ineligible names. Here’s an example – Donald Duck signed the petition – and his address is a Starbucks. Signup to help identify this kind of fraud!

If we don’t complete this audit, United Wisconsin wins by default and the clenched fist tactic of recall petition overwhelm will rage across our nation. Wisconsin is just the beginning.

Sign up right here right now

Soon after you signup you’ll receive an email with your password and instructions – then you’ll be ready to go! This audit effort is not about politics – it is about principle. Either we the people are strong enough to stand against union strong-arm tactics or we’re not. Government has already given up. The citizens of this country must hold the line. Invest 100 minutes this weekend, help the citizens of Wisconsin finish strong, and take a stand for election integrity!

And one more request – after you sign up, PLEASE FORWARD this information to your own email lists and ask them to forward it, too.

We can do this, we can do anything, when we stand together.

Onward –

Catherine Engelbrecht

A Moment with Rep. Allen West at CPAC 2012

-By Warner Todd Huston

The conservative bloggers at CPAC were happy to receive a visit from Representative Allen West (Florida, 22nd District) this year. The second he walked into the room he was mobbed by the bloggers and their ubiquitous handi-cams.

West talked vice presidential possibilities, South America, his status as the most outspoken congressman on the Hill, military meals, Marco Rubio, and more.

An amusing side note, close to the beginning of this video some TV folks from Sky News ran into our blogger room and tried to monopolize the Congressman for their TV camera. One of the bloggers, Jeff Dunetz of Yid With Lid, chased them out saying “You’re not credentialed for this room!” Love it. Jeff is a bulldog.

In any case, Col. West was a very nice fellow, for sure. Humble and straight-forward.

Would you trust these people with $1 billion?

-By Warner Todd Huston

If the members of the California State Legislature had to get real jobs, most of them would have been fired by now. Incapable of solving any of the problems that have crippled California, they instead fritter away their time giving perks to special interests and passing endless new regulations that have decimated California’s business community. Then, when voters passed a measure that would withhold their pay if they don’t pass a budget on time, two legislative chieftains turned around and sued the state’s Controller who handles their paychecks.

Imagine the gall of suing the taxpayers for refusing to pay legislators unless they actually perform their jobs and get work done! It’s just further proof that Sacramento is broken and politicians there have only the special interests in mind. Take, for example, the latest special-interest giveaway by the one career politician, former state Sen. Don Perata.

Proposition 29 raises taxes by nearly $1 billion and hands the money to a board including six political appointees who’ll have to power to dole out that cash however they may chose with no accountability. That money is protected under the terms of Proposition 29 for 15 years, meaning that not even the Governor can step in and change things even in cases of waste or abuse. Proposition 29 is literally a case of the fox guarding the hen house.

Heartland Institute: The ‘Gate’ Scandal That Never Was

-By Warner Todd Huston

Global warmists finally have an email “gate” of their own that they can turn against “deniers” and they are taking full advantage of it. The Warmists are excited that the Heartland Institute, a Chicago-based state policy group, has been “outed” for attempting to undermine the religiously held tenets of global warming. Emails to that effect are claimed to have been leaked from this group and the warmists as well as their handmaidens in the Old Media are touting this scandal as proof of… well, it’s a bit hard to discern what it is proof of. In fact, it isn’t “proof” of much of anything, really.

For one thing the documents are fakes, but even if they weren’t… so what?

For quite some time, for instance, Chicago’s Heartland Institute has been holding events, debates, and seminars on the hoax of global warming. The Heartland Institute has an entire section of its website dedicated to debunking global warming and it has produced books and pamphlets attacking the false “consensus” of man-made global warming. Without question, global warming (a quasi religious belief I personally call globabloney) has been a major focus at Heartland for a long time, to be sure.

That being understood — not only understood but glaringly obvious — leaked emails that purport to show that Heartland has a plan to influence lawmakers, scientists, members of the media, and even schools against global warming is a bit of a “well, duh!” Any ten seconds of time spent on the Institute’s website would tend to make it clear that they are against claims of man-made global warming. At some point, even if the documents were real it should not come as any sort of shocking revelation.

CBS Radio News: Still Attacking Sarah Palin in ‘News’ Reports

-By Warner Todd Huston

In a report on the recent FCC rules tightening requirements for telemarketers, CBS Radio couldn’t resist loosening a shot at Sarah Palin even though she has been out of office for several years already and has taken no part in political robocalls for some time. (Listen to audio HERE)

There is one area of media bias that many of us overlook and that is radio. All the big News outfits have radio shows, newsbreaks, radio offerings of all sorts, but we rarely talk about them for one reason… it’s hard to link to a just finished radio broadcast! Radio newsbreaks come and go in a nearly ephemeral manner and rarely can you catch it again, not to mention that rarely do you have something on hand to record it. Once you hear them they are gone so it’s hard to report on the bias constantly revealed in radio broadcasts. But the bias is there nonetheless.

Another reason radio is often ignored is that few of the networks put their newsbreaks up on the Internet so that you can review them. And those that do put them on the Internet, well they don’t make finding specific bits easy to track down. Then again, network radio news is not now a big focus of media with print and TV taking precedence.

Liberal Tactics: Just Lie, No One Will Check!

-By Warner Todd Huston

I have to say, at this point I am convinced that no one on the left really hates racism. In fact, they love it as it is their most important tool with which to control gullible voters. Cry racism and their mind-numbed acolytes dutifully echo the charge whether it is true or not — and it’s usually not. Well, they’ve done it again, cast the race card at conservatives. But this time they fell into a trap laid for them purposefully, set in order to prove their hatemongering, stupidity, cynicism, and lies.

At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) last weekend a humorous video debuted during the TheTeaParty.net blogger awards hosted by John Hawkins of RightWingNews.com. It was a rap video created by comedian Steven Crowder and his pal Chris Loesch. They called themselves the “Powdered Zombies” and the song was meant to highlight the wrong turn this country has made and how we’ve drifted away from the founder’s ideas.

One line of the song was an obvious satire on the left’s constant cries of racism. Remembering that these rap singers were evoking the founders, the line in question goes: “But I’m back from the dead now bringing back all my knickers.” The next line confirms what the reference meant: “I’m just talking about my short pants.”

Study: 24 Million Invalid Voter Registrations, 1.8 Million Dead Voters Still Registered on Rolls

-By Warner Todd Huston

A new Pew Center on the States study has revealed that approximately 24 million active voter registrations across the United States are either invalid or contain significant inaccuracies. Worse, some 1.8 millions deceased citizens are still legally registered to vote casting into doubt the legitimacy of America’s voter registration rolls and leaving the door wide open for massive voter fraud.

Pew reports that 1 in 8 registrations is either invalid or has major inaccuracies. The study also finds that the United States spends more money on voter registration but gets less accurate results than other countries such as neighboring Canada. Costs in the US are 12 times higher than costs in Canada, Pew found.

Oregon spent $8.8 million on voter registration in 2008, the cost amounting to $4.11 per voter. Yet in Canada, which adopted a digital registration system, spends only 35 cents per voter nationwide.

Obama Programming Media Matters, or is it the Other Way Around?

-By Warner Todd Huston

There has been a lot of chatter about the blockbuster report at DailyCaller.com revealing the extent to which the self-proclaimed “media watchdog” outfit Media Matters for America is joined at the hip with the White House. Many are shocked at just how much Obama is seemingly programming the media with the supposedly independent Media Matters acting as its pipeline to the Old Media.

Shockingly, DailyCaller notes that MMFA is even holding teleconference briefings with members of Obama’s administration and the subsequent salting of the results of those meetings among the Old Media’s coverage seems to be a weekly occurrence. If true this is in contravention to MMFA’s tax-exempt status, too.

The report points out that at least up until last fall, an Obama administration official participated in weekly strategy sessions to plan out what the Old Media should know about the Obama agenda. DailyCaller notes that Obama’s recently resigned com director Jen Psaki was “a frequent participant” on those strategy calls.

A Crony Military? Jerry Brown’s Man Fires California’s First Female Army General

-By Warner Todd Huston

In August of 2011, Brigadier General Charlotte L. Miller, California’s first Army female general, was “involuntarily separated” from the California National Guard for what she feels are invalid reasons. In fact, when the order originally came down there weren’t much by way of reasons even given. At last Miller is speaking out and making some pretty serious charges against Major General David Baldwin, the man that fired her, by testifying before the California State Senate Rules Committee against his nomination to head the Calif. National Guard.

Last June, Miller was informed by The Adjutant General’s office (TAG) that she was being removed from her position and cast out of the California National Guard after over 30 years service and a near spotless record. What made matters worse was that, according to Miller, the TAG cited no authority or statute that authorized her removal nor was any proof of the specific charges made offered.

Miller further notes that her own due process was violated by the sudden dismissal and she says several military statutes were violated in the separation. Miller also reports that she has never been allowed access to copies of any investigations or findings that the TAG claims it based her dismissal upon.

VIDEO: Utah’s Mia Love at CPAC

-By Warner Todd Huston

The first in my “Challengers” series of interviews I conducted with up-and-coming candidates running across the country. Here I interview candidate for Utah’s 4th Congressional District, Mia Love.

One of the things she likes to say is that “according to the left, I am not supposed to exist.” That because she is a strong, conservative, black woman.

Mia Love is surprising voters in Utah. As Mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah she seemed to come from out of no where as far as many voters in Utah were concerned. But she is fast gaining a reputation as a very capable and attractive candidate.

During one of the CPAC panels, Love noted that she is prepared for a fight. “I know that I am going to be a target for the left. I have something to say to them: Game On,” she said.

In fact, she’s already being attacked by the extremists at the Democrat website, Daily Kos. Sadly, the attack on Love is not one based on substance but is a racial attack. At the Democrat site, Daily Kos is attacking Love as, “one of only two African-Americans living in Utah not currently playing for the Jazz.”

Aren’t leftists supposed to hate racism? Not when it concerns destroying anyone that disagrees with them, they aren’t.

Mia Love is sure to become a GOP rock star. All you Utahans, vote for Love!

Please do go to Mia’s website and donate some money, won’t you? http://www.love4utah.com/.

Sarah Palin’s Main CPAC Speech Points: Did She Sell Out?

-By Warner Todd Huston

I am just now back home from CPAC and I thought I’d wrap up my CPAC reports with the main points from Sarah Palin’s CPAC speech. I will have video of a dozen or so GOP candidates for Senate and the House over the ensuing days as well as a short video interview with Daniel Hannan, the Member of European Parliament that made himself beloved to Americans for his impassioned speeches in favor of freedom and liberty.

Those videos will come later, but now, on to Sarah’s speech. As expected, Sarah Palin was met with the most adulatory applause of any CPAC speaker. When she came out onto the stage the house went wild. She had the longest sustained standing ovation of the entire event. Obviously, Sarah Palin is still a rock star to these conservatives.

I live tweeted her speech and following this introduction I’ll repost those live tweets here so that you can see her main points as she delivered them and as I tweeted them. But first my over all impressions.

Palin spent a lot of time smacking President Obama over the head with his smashing failures over the last three years. She made no effort to be coy about it but attacked him head on. As in all her speeches — and I’ve been in the audience for a few of them, myself — she made many allusions to the founders, citing them often. And she ended up with an urgent plea to those watching to fall in behind who ever becomes the GOP nominee “for the sake of our country.” This ending might have surprised, maybe even dismayed her more ideological fans because perhaps she just proved to be just another party woman instead of the ideologically pure representative they’d hoped for.

Texas AG Sues Feds Over Voter ID Law

-By Warner Todd Huston

On January 23, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott asked a federal court to clear the way for his state’s voter ID law while he awaits to hear what will happen with his demands that the Department of Justice drop its objections to the Texas law.

Abbott filed an expedited complaint for declaratory judgment (see complaint HERE) based on the fact that several other states have also enacted voter ID laws not to mention that the U.S. Supreme Court has already upheld such laws.

CPAC Straw Poll: It’s Mitt!

-By Warner Todd Huston

3,408 CPAC attendees participated in this year’s straw poll, the poll’s second highest number of participants, and they picked Mitt Romney as their man.

With a pool of voters that said at 63% that slashing big government was a main concern for 2012, a 97% disapproval rating for President Obama, and even a 28% disapproval rate the job Republicans in Congress are doing, voters picked Romney over Santorum by only 7 percentage points.

  • Romney 38%
  • Santorum 31%
  • Newt 15%
  • Paul 12%

Paul dominated the CPAC polling over the last two years, but this year he placed a distant fourth place. Paul did not attend CPAC this year and his followers were absent as well. Unless a few of them were out protesting with the Occupiers, of course.

The CPAC poll has no official standing Party-wise, to be sure, but as ACU Chairman Al Cardenas notes it is a good barometer of a nice large slice of the conservative movement.

This result does show the surging Santorum candidacy, though. It is clear that Rick Santorum has at last gotten his chance to be the non-Romney candidate. I think if CPAC were to have been held three or four months ago, Rick would not have achieved this close finish with Romney here at this conservative gathering.

I must say, I had imagined that Mitt might lose to Santorum considering his surging poll numbers out and about in the rest of the country outside CPAC, but I also must say that Mitt’s speech was competent and free of any unforced errors, if you will.

So, there you have it. Mitt barely edges out Rick Santorum as king of CPAC.

CPAC Speeches: Contrasting Santorum, Gingrich, Romney

-By Warner Todd Huston

CPAC 2012 featured appearances by the three top GOP contenders who came to ask for the support of the conservatives gathered there. First came former Penn. Senator Rick Santorum, then Governor Mitt Romney, and finally former Speaker of the House of Representatives Newt Gingrich, all came to sell their ideas and candidacy.

Rick Santorum

Santorum came out to the most applause of the three, for sure. As he and his family mounted the stage the crowd was obviously eager to hear what the candidate had to say.

“Conservatism did not fail this country,” began the meat of the former Pennsylvania Senator’s remarks, “conservatives failed conservatism.”

Santorum said that in the past we, “listened to the voices that said we had to abandon our principles and our values to get things done, to win.” But no more compromise, he said. “The lesson we’ve learned is that we will no longer abandon and apologize for the policies and principles that made this country great for a hollow victory in November.”

Santorum went on to say that Obamacare was a “game changer” and with it, as the British found with their system, we will never be free again. “It’s about government control of our lives and it’s gotta stop,” he asserted to great applause.

New Yorkers Were Paid to Commit Vote Fraud

-By Warner Todd Huston

A trial has been underway for a week in an upstate New York vote fraud case that has brought to light criminal actions committed by Democrats in city government in Troy, New York that seems to go back decades. Some of the first witnesses are also claiming that they were paid by Democrat officials to commit vote fraud.

The case centers around fraudulent voter registrations and absentee ballots for the Working Families Party, a thinly disguised Democrat Party entity originally created by the disgraced community activist group ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now).

Up to eight Troy Democrats are being charged with various offenses such as falsifying business records and forgery.

Jermaine Joseph, the first witness called to the stand in the case, testified that in 2009 he was paid $10 to sign a voter registration card. Joseph, a former Hudson Valley Community College football player, testified that after he signed his form he was paid $10 by someone from City Hall.

Ohio: Self-Proclaimed ‘Tea Party’ Candidate Doesn’t Know Who Andrew Breitbart Is?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Is it possible these days to be a new, active conservative running for Congress for the first time and not know who Andrew Breitbart is? Me, I’d reckon that an in the know, new candidate that claims to be conservative and a spokesman for Tea Partiers could not possibly be so isolated that he is unaware of conservative media-crusader Andrew Breitbart. But there is a candidate in Ohio who displayed right on his own campaign website just such a display of ignorance on Breitbartania, Breitbartism, or Breitbartness… whatever you want to call it, it just appears that this guy is stone-cold out of touch with the current conservative movement not to know thing one about Andrew Breitbart.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I am sure there are plenty of 90-year-old, Brahmin conservatives who get flummoxed at “the Facebookings.” I am sure there still exist out-of-touch, elder statesmen of the movement that just haven’t caught up with those newfangled Internet tubes that our friend Al Gore created. I am sure that there are more than a handful of aged establishment types shaking their fist at the Fox News and those darn websheets positive that they’ll never catch on, just as they were sure rock-n-roll was a passing fad. But can you be an up and comer in the conservative movement and be wholly unaware of one of the newest icons of conservatives everywhere?

I am here at CPAC this week and just ran into Joe “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher who was telling me about his run for Congress in the 9th Congressional District. Joe made me aware of a hilarious little example of the abject cluelessness of his opponent. So let me introduce to you one Mr. Steve Kruas. Professional auctioneer actually licensed with the Ohio State Ag Department with well over 300 “successful” auctions under his belt. I guess you don’t need the Internets, talk radio and TV news shows to sell used farm equipment.

CPAC Hair Doo Disaster

Being the king of sartorial splendor and a noted expert in haute couture (is it sad that I could spell that Frechified word without spell check?) it falls to me to dish about the worst hairdo at CPAC. That doo disaster belongs to Michelle Duggar of the famed doubling Duggars from TV. Call it a Garridoo Disaster.

Let’s leave ideology aside, as I find many of her ideas personally appealing, and let’s just talk hair, shall we, girlfriends? The Duggar doo was a disaster, plain and simple.

The whole thing seems to be a melange of styles. The poodle cut, the front flip, the long and straight, the perm, the mullet, even. All may work separately but together it is a hiarifying experience.

Occupy Wall Street Comes to CPAC, Unions in Command

-By Warner Todd Huston

The police had the Occupiers well in hand. Notice they had their ever-present tents, too!

A sizable group of Occupy Wall Street protesters assembled Friday late morning to protest CPAC. Naturally this group was buoyed by big labor because, as we all know, the OWSers aren’t really any sort of grassroots anything but are a wholly manufactured, left-wing, anti-American concern funded and organized by hard core left-wingers.

I decided not to bother engaging with them as I’ve done in the past because I’ve learned that dialog is not what they are interested in. They have their rote and often infantile talking points, slogans, and chants and that is usually all they have to offer.

Cleta Mitchell: GOP Super-Lawyer

-By Warner Todd Huston

Without question Tea Partiers are unhappy with the elites of Washington D.C. Yet Cleta Mitchell is one Washingtonian that has became a welcome addition to the campaigns of some high profile Tea Party candidates.

Mrs. Mitchell, you see, is the in-demand, bulldog election law attorney that many Tea Party candidates go to when things began to get heated as they did during the 2010 elections.

Last October the Wall Street Journal noted that Mitchell’s clients included Joe Miller of Alaska, Christine O’Donnell of Delaware, Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, South Carolina’s Senator Jim DeMint, Sharron Angle of Nevada, Marco Rubio of Florida and many others.

Mitchell’s latest high profile client is Florida legislator Adam Hasner who is expected to run for the Senate in 2012. The conservative Hasner is a close associate of newly minted Senator Marco Rubio. Between 2007 and 2010 Hasner served as Rubio’s deputy majority leader in the Florida House.

With such high profile clientele, it is no wonder that Mitchell is called the “Republican super lawyer.”

A Few Moments With Senator Jim DeMint

-By Warner Todd Huston

Senator Jim DeMint (R, SC) is well known as the most conservative man in the upper chamber. He gave a rousing speech here at CPAC and afterward told a small gathering of us that many of the points he made will appear in his forthcoming book, Now or Never, Saving America From Economic Collapse. That message is, he said, that we have only a short time to turn this mess around and get this country back on track.

DeMint said that we need to remind our people — or in too many cases teach them from scratch — about America’s exceptionalism, but we also need to learn what changed from the days when our exceptionalism was better understood by the people. DeMint also noted that one of the problems we have to over come is that the Democrats agenda now prevents them from working in any way with the GOP and because their agenda is so extreme we just can’t compromise with them any more.

“Something’s gotta give,” DeMint said, “We have about a year before its too late

Truing the Voter Rolls, Voter Integrity Project: Many States have More Voters Registered Than Voting-Age Population

-By Warner Todd Huston

True the Vote is proud to announce that it is teaming with Judicial Watch on an election integrity project to pressure the states to clean up voter registration rolls to satisfy Section 8 of the National Voting Rights Act (NVRA), a law that all too many states have been violating for years.

Judicial Watch and True The Vote have sent letters to California, Ohio, Indiana, and Florida — others are also being considered — demanding that they satisfy the law or face lawsuits to attempt to force them to obey the law.

Section 8 of the NVRA requires that each state makes “a reasonable effort” to assure that voter rolls are current and correct but for years many states haven’t purged their voting rolls of people that have passed away, left the state, or are otherwise no longer legitimately enrolled. The result is that many states have more voters on the rolls than they have in voting-age population.

I’ll be covering as much as I can but there is no way to see, hear, do, and talk to it all, for sure.

The Chairman of the Conservative Action Union (ACU), the host organization for CPAC, is Al Cardenas and in his appearance before the press this morning he promised an exciting event.

Cardenas also noted that this year it seems that the contest for supporters being waged by the four remaining presidential candidates is wide open.

Wisc. Voter’s Name Fraudulently Signed Four Times to Same Recall Petition

-By Warner Todd Huston

A self identified Wisconsin watchdog group called Citizens for Responsible Government of Racine reports that a Racine man found his name signed four separate times to the petition to recall Republican State Senator Van Wanggaard, but the voter, Jeff Demet, said had never signed the recall petitions at all. As watchdog blogger Ken Brown says, “this is what vote fraud looks like.”

Blogger Ken Brown found that Jeff wasn’t the only Demet family member that appeared on official records without having put their hand to the petitions. Brown found that several Demet family member’s names appeared on the petitions, some of them several times, some even under different and false addresses.

It seems evident that these fraudulent signatures were added by Jeff’s brother, Mark, who had joined the recall effort and was passing around petitions himself.

Washington Post Skews Poll for ‘The One’

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Washington Post was very excited to report on Feb. 5 that President Obama has finally achieved “the edge” over Mitt Romney in a “general election matchup” poll. The Post was pleased to note Obama was “boosted by improved public confidence” and that he now led Romney by over 50%.
