Media Blasts Ryan, Acts as if AARP is Non-Partisan
-By Warner Todd Huston
Last week the media was all over Paul Ryan’s visit to an event with the American Association for Retired People gleefully reporting that he was booed. The media treated the whole affair as if the AARP was some non-partisan organization. But, the truth is, the AARP is no more non-partisan than any organization carrying water for the Obama administration.
Take The Hill, for instance. In its report the inside Washington newser noted that the boos Ryan received was “a clear sign of just how big a challenge Medicare poses to the Romney campaign.”
This characterization is absurd. It presents the AARP as a venue that might not boo any proposal of the reform of an over taxed government program! AARP is solidly on the side of big government – it was a leading proponent of Obamacare — and will brook no truck with anyone talking of reforming anything. Of course they’ll boo Paul Ryan.

Attack: CBS’ Rose Interrupts Romney Adviser Six Times in 50 Seconds
-By Warner Todd Huston
While Obama’s surrogates seem to get all the time they want on network TV to spew out talking points and push their desired narrative, Romney surrogates aren’t so lucky. Witness the otherwise soft spoken Charlie Rose of CBS who didn’t seem willing to allow Romney spokesman Dan Senor to get a word in edgewise without Rose’s constant interruptions. shockingly, Rose interrupted Senor six times in 50 seconds during a recent CBS This Morning interview.
Rose asked Romney’s adviser what would be the “first thing” Romney would do about Iran and its “effort to have a nuclear capacity.”

Against Family’s Wishes, CNN Used Murdered Ambassador’s Journal in Reports
-By Warner Todd Huston
CNN has finally revealed the “source familiar with Ambassador Stevens’ thinking” upon which it based much of its reporting in the week following the attack on our embassy in Benghazi and the murder of Ambassador Chris Stevens. That “source” was his own, handwritten journal and CNN used it for its reportage quite despite the wishes of Stevens’ surviving family.
On Friday, September 21, CNN host Anderson Cooper made the admission on his Anderson Cooper 360 show saying that much of the “information was found in a personal journal of Ambassador Stevens in his handwriting.”
We came upon the journal through our reporting and notified the family. At their request, we returned that journal to them. We reported what we found newsworthy in the ambassador’s writings. A reporter followed up on what we found newsworthy, as I said, in the ambassador’s writings.
This rather benign explanation, though, runs quite contrary to what the Wall Street Journal reported. As WSJ reported, the family had asked CNN not to use the journal at all.

The Obamaized Flag Poster Suddenly Disappears from Campaign Store
-By Warner Todd Huston
Last week, President Obama’s campaign paraphernalia store on his website was heavily criticized for having a poster of a U.S. flag that was Obamaized by having the field of fifty stars replaced with an Obama logo. Over the weekend, the item was suddenly disappeared down the Internet memory hole.
The poster, titled “Our Stripes: Flag Poster,” was criticized by nearly every conservative blog and news site on the web for the arrogance of replacing the fifty states with an Obama logo. It was said that it shows Obama imagines that there are no New Yorks, no Texases, no Californias, only the Obama states of America.
Whatever the meaning of the flag poster, the item is no longer at the campaign store. A visit to the page where it once resided now returns an error message. An Obama campaign spokesman claims that the reason the item no longer appears in the store is that it is sold out. This claim does not ring true to some.

Dinesh D’Souza’s ‘2016,’ A Warning Tale
-By Warner Todd Huston
In 2007-08, Americans didn’t know anything at all about the man they were about to make the President of the United States. They elected Barack Obama to the highest office in the land despite knowing nothing about him, his ideas, or his past, and, unfortunately, he’s led this country to despair. Now it is time for him to run for re-election and Dinesh D’Souza has made a film he’s titled 2016: Obama’s America in order to help make sure it doesn’t happen a second time.
This weekend I attended a private screening of D’Souza’s 2016 held by Freecapitalismnow.com and hosted by Chicago Republican gadfly William J. Kelly and the filmmaker himself, Mr. D’Souza. What I saw, even as I already knew much of the material from dispirit sources, was still eye-opening.
In the film, D’Souza relied heavily on Obama’s book, Dreams of My Father He notes that the book isn’t titled dreams of my father, but from. This, D’Souza says, is the tip off to the President’s true ideology.

L.A. Times Still Refusing to Release Video of Obama’s Party With Radical Islamists
-By Warner Todd Huston
The L.A. Times persists in hiding from the public a 2003 video of Barack Obama attending a party for radical Islamist activist Rashid Khalidi, a video that supposedly features extreme anti-Semitic rhetoric. Yet, with criticism stinging, the Times has issued a rather feeble reason for keeping that important video secret from the American people.
They are “keeping a promise,” we are told, to protect a “confidential source.”
This is what L.A. Times VP for communications Nancy Sullivan told The Blaze this week.
In April 2008, the Los Angeles Times reported first, and in explicit detail about the dinner event and the tape of it. More than six months later, just days before the November 2008 election, the McCain Campaign demanded the public release of the tape. As we stated then, The Times did not publish the videotape because it was provided for review by a confidential source who did so on the condition that we not publish the tape itself. The Times keeps its promises to sources and nothing has changed in that regard.
Amusingly, Sullivan also said that as far as she knew, The Blaze was the only ones asking about the tape.
Obviously Sullivan is uninformed. The folks at Breitbart have offered $100,000 for a copy of that video. Are we really expected to believe Sullivan hasn’t heard of this offer?

CNN’s Blitzer Says Letterman Better for Obama Than Israel
-By Warner Todd Huston
As the Middle East erupts in flames and as his foreign policy scheme is burned up with it, President Obama refused a meeting with Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu and instead went on the David Letterman show. One might think the President’s neglect of his duty was a bad thing, but apparently it was perfectly fine with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
On Sept. 19, during an America’s Choice 2012 segment on CNN’s Newsroom, Wolf Blitzer was full of words of understanding for Obama’s choice of Letterman over Israel’s Prime Minister. It just made good sense, Blitzer imagined, for Obama to ignore his duties as America’s director of foreign policy in order to go on a late-night comedy show.
Apparently Blitzer understood perfectly that getting votes should take precedence over foreign policy.
“In the scheme of things, who is going to get you more votes? A meeting that could be tense with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or go on Letterman and come across as well as he did last night.”
With friends in the Old Media like Wolf Blitzer, why does Obama need his own media team at all?

As Embassies Burned, Obama More Interested in Interviews and Photo Ops
-By Warner Todd Huston
Even as President Obama’s flacks are telling the media that he is too smart to attend daily intelligence briefings, we are finally finding out what he did on that volatile Friday morning last week when our embassies were burning and 21 countries were erupting in anti-American protests. Instead of worrying about all that, Obama was giving puffball interviews to entertainment magazines and having photo ops.
Instead of spending precious time dealing with the developing crisis in the Mid East and with his foreign policy scheme in a total freefall, on Friday morning, September 14, Obama was giving an interview to the entertainment magazine People en Español and participating in a photo session with photographer Omar Cruz.
Worse, this puffball interview wasn’t on his public schedule and was hidden from the public. Wasn’t Obama the one that claimed he’d have the most transparent administration in history?

Offensive: Obama Selling Obamaized U.S. Flag Prints
-By Warner Todd Huston
Some feel that President Obama is an arrogant sort of fellow. A quick look at the Obama store section of his campaign website might tend to substantiate that feeling when finding the Obamaized U.S. flag print that team Obama is selling there.
(Click image to see a screen shot of the Obama store webpage)
Does this sort of arrogance offend you? If it doesn’t it should at least make you raise your eyebrow. How gauche is it that Obama is putting his own Madison Avenue-like, branded logo on a U.S. flag?
What patriotic American would put his own logo on a U.S. flag? It just doesn’t seem right, does it? I mean, remaking the flag in his own image is quite a thing, isn’t it?
And what is the most arrogant part of it all? Notice that all the stars in the flag have been replaced by the Obama logo? That’s right, there ARE NO STATES in Obamaland. We are all just part of the Messiah himself, Barack Hussein Obama.

AUDIO: Obama is FOR a Communistic Redistribution of Income… He SAID So in 1998
-By Warner Todd Huston
During the campaign in 2008, Barack Obama had a revealing moment in Ohio when he told Joe “The Plumber” Wurzelbacher (Now running for Congress in Ohio) that he wanted to “redistribute the wealth.”
His supporters cried that anyone that called Obama a communist based on this revealing slip was making a mountain out of a mole hill. They said he was “taken out of context” and didn’t mean what his detractors were claiming he meant.
But did he? Did Obama mean that he is for a socialistic, big government confiscation of wealth to have it redistributed to those that have less? Again, his supporters clam this is an outrageous misread of his ideas. But his supporters would have to contend with what then Senator Obama said at a conference at Loyola University in 1998.
At that October 19, 1998 conference, Obama said in explicit and direct terms that he is for redistribution of wealth.

Instead of Watching Embassies Burn Obama Watches Football Last Weekend
-By Warner Todd Huston
We are told that President Obama watched a lot of football this weekend. I guess it was more fun than attempting to deal with our embassies burning in the Middle East and our soldiers being killed in Afghanistan.
The newsflash is courtesy of Amy Gardner’s twitter feed. Gardner, the White House reporter for the Washington Post, reports that the press gaggle on Air Force One reported that Obama spent his time watching football.
President Obama didn’t watch SNL season opener this weekend; watched a lot of football, per Josh Earnest on AF1 gaggle.
Must be nice to take time away from the pressing duties of being president to relax and watch a little football. But one wonders when this president actually takes time to undertake any of those pressing duties between golf, football, bowling in the White House bowling alley, and flying about the country for daily fundraising events?

CNN’s Peter Hamby: Team Obama’s Propagandist
-By Warner Todd Huston
Peter Hamby of CNN seems to have dropped all pretense of being an unbiased journalist. Not only is he tweeting out the donations page of Obama’s campaign website, but he is also Tweeting that Paul Ryan is a neo-Confederate, or something.
Last week Hamby indulged his inner partisan at least twice on his Twitter account. The first time was on Sept. 13 when he was reporting on an Obama appearance in Wisconsin. Hamby noted that Obama was going to Milwaukee and in his Tweet also gave out the Obama donations page address.
Wisconsin officially a battleground: President Barack Obama going to Milwaukee next weekend > donate.barackobama.com/page/contribut…
I guess helping team Obama raise money for his re-election campaign is now considered to be “journalism.”

Joe Klein Desperate to Change Debate From Obama’s Foreign Policy Failures
-By Warner Todd Huston
As our embassies burn and our foreign officers are being murdered overseas, TIME Magazine’s Joe Klein is desperate to change the current narrative of Obama’s major failures in the Middle East. So, in his latest piece, Klein wants to go back to talking about Mitt Romney’s Massachusetts healthcare policies.
Who can blame Klein for trying this? After all, from the Obama-loving media’s perspective talking about Mitt Romney’s garbled healthcare positions is a better plan than talking about Obama telling Egypt they aren’t our ally, Obama skipping all his intelligence briefings so he can go golfing and attend fundraisers, and his administration’s utter failure to detect the coordinated attacks that were perpetrated against our embassies and foreign service personnel in the Middle East on Sept. 11 and 12.
But what makes Klein’s “The Mitt Mirage” so laughable is his blindly partisan assertions that the Democrat national convention was “extremely successful.” This is a silly claim that even many of his own compadres in the Old Media establishment can’t force themselves to say.

Why is the EPA Funding a Private Newspaper?
-By Warner Todd Huston
The Environmental Protection Agency has been indulging its inner propagandist by spending at least $3.5 million to float newspaper that is purportedly “reporting” on the EPA’s pet issues. Unfortunately for the readers of this newspaper, the fact that the EPA is its sugar daddy is never told the reading public.
So much for an independent press!
The newspaper in question is the Chesapeake Bay Journal, a free publication that appears monthly across the Mid-Atlantic states. Environmental themed articles from this paper have also appeared in such newspapers as The Baltimore Sun.
This is no partisan issue, either as this has been going on for at least two decades.

Recovery Lagging for Middle Class
-By Warner Todd Huston
So much for Obama being the “President of the middle class”…
According to the Census Bureau, income for the middle class fell 8 percent to its lowest level since 1995. “The New York Times” severely understates the case saying that this “poses a challenge” for Barack Obama as he vies for a second term
According to the report, middle class income has fallen to a national average of $50,054 annually, close to what it was back in 1995. The Times finds this troublesome for the President.
That drop poses a political challenge for President Obama as he presents himself as a champion of the middle class and defends his economic stewardship in a tightly fought presidential race. The Republican presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, is likely to seize on the decline as evidence of the president’s failure to fix an ailing economy. Mr. Obama, for his part, has emphasized the potentially damaging effects of Republican policies on the middle class.
Revealing a lopsided recovery, the same Census Bureau report does note that the top 5 percent of households have seen some recovery of lost income even as they “took a whack in the recession.”
The Obama administration points to these statistics claiming that the “rich” need to be taxed more. But others disagree.

Roll Call Claims a ‘Republican Split’ Over Romney Embassy Comments, Offers no Examples
-By Warner Todd Huston
Along with the rest of the Old Media establishment, Washington D.C.-based newspaper Roll Call also attacked Mitt Romney for having dared to criticize the Obama administration for its failures in the Middle East after the attacks on our embassies in Egypt and Libya. To push the anti-Romney narrative, Roll Call claimed that a “rift” had developed among Republicans over Romney’s reaction. Strangely, the Capitol Hill newser didn’t offer much by way of proof that such a rift exists
Immediately after the attack in Cairo, Egypt, our embassy released an ill advised statement that essentially blamed America’s tradition of free speech for the violence. Mitt Romney immediately responded that this was a “disgraceful” statement for a U.S. embassy to make and criticized the Obama administration for it.
After all, America’s embassies operate under the control of the President of the United States and when an embassy speaks it is rightfully assumed that they are speaking with the President’s voice.

The ‘No Justification’ Talking Points
-By Gary Krasner
Referring to events in Libya and Egypt today, Obama said there was “no justification” for Muslim mobs violating US sovereign territory and murdering our embassy people and ambassador.
Hilary also said there was “no justification.”
Presidential spokesman Jay Carney said there was “no justification.” That was the administration’s line for the day. It’s an abamination.
Whenever one says that there’s no justification for a particular action, that means there are situations when that action might be deemed justified.

NPR Fawns Over Interview Programmed by White House
-By Warner Todd Huston
Journalists used to pride themselves on their independence. They once thought that hard questions were their stock and trade especially when it came to hurling those questions at politicians. But even as they congratulate each other for their efforts — as NPR did recently — it appears that hard questions and independence is much lower on their list these days where it concerns President Obama. As it happens journalists are only asking those questions that are pre-approved by the White House.
On September 11, NPR’s Morning Edition gave a very warm welcome to Michael Lewis whose interviews of Barack Obama are soon to debut in the October issue of Vanity Fair. On NPR Lewis’ interviews were called “compelling narratives” and his every utterance was given breathless audience.
Lewis was presented as a quintessential journalist, exploring the life of the president of the United States with inside, unparalleled access. But not once did NPR note to its audience that Lewis submitted his story to the White House for its pre-approval before it went to Vanity Fair.

The Atlantic Criticizes Romney Over Libya, But Mitt Was Talking About Egypt
-By Warner Todd Huston
The Atlantic Wire accused Mitt Romney for a “less-than-factual” statement on Libya delivered in the hours after the attacks on our embassy. But in its rush to attack Mitt Romney, The Atlantic Wire got its countries mixed up as the statement it was condemning was Mitt’s statement on Egypt, not one on Libya.

It wasn’t long before The Atlantic Wire changed its headline dropping the “On Libya” part.

Obama Refuses to Submit New Regulations Plan Required By Law
-By Warner Todd Huston
Early every spring an administration is required by law to submit its regulatory plans for the year. Obama, however, has refused to submit this report perhaps afraid of how badly it might impact his prospects for re-election.
The spring 2012 Regulatory Agenda is supposed to be submitted so that both Congress and the nation can get a handle on the regulatory changes the president intends to make. It is a requirement imposed by the Regulatory Flexibility Act as well as Clinton era Executive Order 12,866 — an order that President Obama reaffirmed last year.
This report is supposed to be submitted to Congress between October and April. Obama still hasn’t satisfied this lawful requirement.
Ohio GOP Senator Rob Portman has sent a letter to the White House scolding it for this dereliction of its reporting duties.

American Action Network Releases State & District-Level Medicare Cuts in Obamacare
From the American Action Network
www.TheyCutYourMedicare.com has the State & District-by-District Breakdowns of How Much Members Who Voted for or to Keep Obamacare Cut from their Area’s Medicare
WASHINGTON – As part of its ongoing effort to make the case for prompt repeal of Obamacare, the American Action Network (AAN) released today the cuts to Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) and Medicare Advantage (MA) in the states and congressional districts of Senators and Members of Congress that voted for or to preserve Obamacare. The district and state specific cuts can be found at www.TheyCutYourMedicare.com and the member-specific sites linked below.
The data used to determine this state and congressional district data comes from the census, the Congressional Budget Office, and a new University of Minnesota study that provided a county-by-county analysis of the Medicare fee-for-service and Medicare Advantage cuts included in Obamacare.
Obamacare cut Medicare by $716 billion to fund a new entitlement, and is leading to higher taxes on consumers and providers, rising healthcare costs for families, and will lead to diminished quality of care for seniors. The need to repeal this disastrous law is more evident daily.

Media Blackout: GAO Says Obama’s Welfare Waivers Illegal
-By Warner Todd Huston
On Sept. 4, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) made a startling assertion saying that Obama circumvented the law when he summarily waived the work requirements in the welfare law. Perhaps not as shocking, to date, few news outlets seem interested in the story.
In its Sept. 4 letter, the GAO found that Health and Human Services (HHS) should have formally submitted a letter of its intent to make the changes to Congress and the Comptroller General before any waivers can be legally issued.
The letter also said that the GAO had not determined if HHS had the legal right to even make such waivers available. The GAO is basically saying that the Obama administration is breaking the law with its waivers.
