Michael Moore: Big Fat Union Hypocrite

-By Warner Todd Huston

With the spotlight on Wisconsin’s union thugs rampaging across the state, one wonders why it took propaganda filmmaker Michael Moore so long to put himself in front of the news cameras to take some of their publicity for himself. But this weekend, Moore finally glommed onto the cameras making himself out to be a great supporter of the union’s efforts in the Badger State. Once again, though, Moore proves to be a hypocrite. It was Moore, after all, that excluded using union workers in one of his recent films. Some supporter of unions!

Filmmaker Moore attend a recent Wisconsin pro-union rally and regaled the crowd with an address saying, “Madison is only the beginning.”

“We’re going to do this together. Don’t give up. Please don’t give up,” Moore told the protesters, who have swarmed the Capitol every day for close to three weeks.

Oh, he’s a great supporter, right? But let us drift back only a few years to 2009 when he was filming his last bomb, Capitalism: A Love Story. During that production we found that Moore didn’t hire union stagehands (the IATSE) for his film.

Who is Footing Wisconsin Fleebagger’s Bills?

-By Warner Todd Huston

The expenses for the Fleebagging Wisconsin Democratic Senators are mounting. It’s been about a week’s worth of expenses since they’ve gone on the lamb. So, who is paying for all this? There has been rampant speculation that third party donors and union lobbyists have been slipping these Wisc. State Senators some money to pay their fleebagging costs. If they are this is clearly illegal.

The relevant Wisconsin statue is from Subchapter III, Chapter 13, Wisconsin Statutes (13.625), the prohibited practices section.

(1) No lobbyist may:
(a) Instigate legislative or administrative action for the purpose of obtaining employment in support or opposition thereto.
(b) Furnish to any agency official or legislative employee of the state or to any elective state official or candidate for an elective state office, or to the official’s, employee’s or candidate’s personal campaign committee:
1. Lodging.
2. Transportation.
3. Food, meals, beverages, money or any other thing of pecuniary value…

There is also a chance that these senators are using their campaign cash to pay their expenses. And if they are, the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board says that this is OK.

Oh, There’s Something Going On, But It’s Not ‘Union Busting’

-By Frank Salvato

I was driving into Annapolis the other day when it struck me. I now understand why the Progressive Left is adamant about pushing the artificial inflation of our children’s self-esteem. To paraphrase Col. Kurtz, a character from the film Apocalypse Now, “It struck me like a diamond bullet right between the eyes. I thought ‘The brilliance!’” And then I thought, “The horror!…The horror.” It was at that exact moment that my steadfast confidence that our Republic would endure was rocked. It was at that split second that any question about our nation being under siege from an ideological movement, so well planned; so potent and so destructive, disappeared forever. So, what does the artificial elevation of self-esteem have to do with the destruction of the nation? Everything.

When we falsely elevate the self-esteem of a child, of a group of children; when we teach them that “everyone’s a winner” and “there are no losers,” we are teaching them a lie. Any honest person must have the courage to admit that in life, no one ever gets everything that they want, ergo, it is impossible for someone to always win and to never lose.

Imagine the bitter dose of reality experienced by a little leaguer who has been allowed to play the game where no score is kept and everyone was deemed “a winner” when he played in his first organized league where the score did matter. It is happening today.

Ed Dawn, Invasion of the Dept. of (r)Ed

-By Resa LaRu Kirkland

It started when I was getting my Bachelor of Science degree (B.S., appropriately enough) at Idaho State University.

I refused to join the SNEA, the pre-NEA student organization that infests the Colleges of Education all across America.

None of my friends who were also in the Education Program refused to join; in fact, they thought me a fool for not doing so. I guess they didn’t see a problem with it. And if you glance at the rosy picture the SNEA painted on their section of the NEA website, I guess you would agree…if you’re blind and easily led.

There are enough “code words” in their polished statement to be used by WWII submarines. I felt that familiar pricking at the back of my skull that I’ve gotten as far back as I can remember whenever I’m confronted with a person or group that reeks of wretched. Since I knew the SNEA would be temporary and my inevitable goal was to graduate, I skipped that part and went right to the tenets of the NEA. It was, after all, where I would eventually be asked to join.

American Majority Activist/Candidate Training

-By Warner Todd Huston

I just got back from sitting on the new media discussion panel at the American Majority Candidate Training session held in Palatine, Illinois, a northern suburb of Chicago.

On the panel we discussed things such as how candidates should approach the new and old media alike, how should candidates handle interviews, and should candidates stop issuing press releases (no, would be the answer to that last one, there).

On the panel with me was Keith Liscio, Fran Eaton of Illinois Review, and acting as emcee for the panel was Collin Colbert of Cor Strategies.

Left-Wing Union H8ters Update

-By Warner Todd Huston

Today we have two examples of union thugs acting like, well, union thugs. We have two examples in Ohio and one in Wisconsin, two hotbeds for union whiners of late.

The first one is the tale of a leftist protester arrested for calling in a bomb threat to an aviation business in Eu Clair, Wisconsin a few hours after Governor Scott Walker appeared there to give a speech.

The Chippewa Herald reports that local resident, Patrick J. Knauf, 43, of Eau Claire, called in the threat. Knauf has been involved in the union-sponsored protests of Republican Walker and himself appeared for a recent protest held at the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport which is right next to the company in question.

Teacher Thugs Cause $7.5 Million in Damage to Wisc. Capitol Bldg

-By Warner Todd Huston

Not only are they ripping off Wisconsin’s taxpayers through their lavish salaries, pensions, and benefits, now government employees and their supporters are causing even more expenses born by Wisconsin’s working poor and middle classes because they have caused $7.5 million in damages with their protests at the Wisconsin State capitol building in Madison.

According to reporting by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel the damages to the capitol and its grounds have been estimated at $7.5 million.

Obama Takes A Stand on Libya

-By Nancy Morgan

Obama has finally taken a stand on the ongoing carnage in Libya. After nine days of silence, he has finally, and forcefully, condemned the “outrageous” crackdown by Libyan security forces on protesters. He also said that a unified international response was forming. Whew.

Translation: America will stand firmly behind the United Nations. We will wait and see what the global consensus and political ramifications are before taking sides against a murderous thug.

The day before Obama firmly came out on the side of world peace via Libya, his press secretary had informed the world that Obama’s 9 day silence on the Libyan inferno was due to “scheduling conflicts.” Now that Obama has made time in his schedule, he has finally made a decision. America is going to let the United Nations handle the problem.

Journalist in France Convicted for Anti-Muslim Hate Speech

-By Selwyn Duke

We’ve heard a lot about Geert Wilders, the Dutch parliamentarian whose warnings about Muslim influence in his nation place him in the crosshairs of the powers-that-be. But while the tow-headed modern-day Templar has thus far dodged the hangman on Truth-speech charges, another intrepid defender of Western civilization has not been so lucky. And we haven’t heard much about him.

He is French journalist Eric Zemmour, and he was just convicted this week of “inciting racism.” Writes The New American’s R. Cort Kirkwood:

Zemmour’s “controversial” remarks included his observation that most drug dealers in France were black or Arab, and that employers “have the right” to deny employment to those two groups of people.

Some Questions of Sen. McCaskill’s Ethics and Union Ties

-By Warner Todd Huston

Is Missouri’s Democrat Senator Clair McCaskill truly trying to “help” workers, or is she a bought and paid union shill in Washington D.C. One man wonders with an open letter to the senator.

In the letter, the writer, a union member, is wondering just who the heck is pulling McCaskill’s strings where it concerns her involvement in the doings of the Association of Professional Flight attendants (APFA).

I am not posting this to support the letter’s writer but to show that all is not well in uniondom and the Democrat Party.

Iowa State University Uses ‘Non-Partisan’ Programs for Hyper Partisan Union Support

-By Warner Todd Huston

Now, to you and me the word “non-partisan” would mean that no political position should be advocated. Sadly, to the left-wingers that run Iowa State University, “non-partisan” seems to mean just another opportunity for pushing a hyper partisan, left-wing, union-supporting message on students because the union thugs at ISU are now using the Student Ambassadors program to push the union’s political positions quite despite that the charter governing the program specifically says that it is to be a non-partisan affair.

Iowa recently elected a Republican governor to office and he is facing the same budget crisis that every other governor is facing due to the profligacy of past Democrat administrations and their cozy, parasitic relationship with the government employee unions. As a result of the budget crunch Governor Terry Branstad has been pushing some very modest budget reforms for Iowa. This, of course, has the elites in the government employee unions up in arms. They don’t want to see their gravy train grind to a halt. This includes the mis-educational establishment in Iowa — as it does in every other state.

Now, ISU has a student government program called the ISU Ambassadors. These “ambassadors” are supposed to connect students with university and state government, or as the website says, to serve as a “connection between Iowa State University, the state legislature, and Iowa communities.”

Our Modern Universities: Live Sex Shows in the Classroom

-By Warner Todd Huston

So, what do you get for $500 an hour if you are Northwestern University Professor John Bailey and you’re looking for a new way to teach your class about sex? Apparently you get a live sex show right in the classroom where a woman is impaled with a sex toy jammed on the end of a reciprocating power saw. Nice way to spend university donor’s money, isn’t it?

Professor Bailey and his fist full of university cash paid one Kevin Melvoin-Berg to bring a woman and her “fiance” into the classroom where she was brought to orgasm with the aforementioned powertool turned sex toy. Melvoin-Berg runs a Chicago area touring company called Weird Chicago where customers are taken on a tour of all the strangest places in the city. Those “weird” places include areas where there have supposedly been ghost sightings, 20s era gangland sites, serial killer sites, and old prostitution sites in the city. This multitalented character bills himself as a “psychic detective and ghost hunter,” as well. Yes, he’s just the sort of legitimate expert that a university should turn to in order to teach students about human sexuality, ya know?

Like a good educator, Professor Bailey took the intellectual road to defend his inclusion of live sex shows in his class room, too. As he told the Daily Northwestern,”Sticks and stones may break your bones, but watching naked people on stage doing pleasurable things will never hurt you.”

Oh, this prof is way too intahlekshual for me, I have to say.

Evangelical Christians and American Jews, Allies or Foes?

-By Warner Todd Huston

This is the text of an address I gave to a men’s luncheon in Niles, Illinois on March 3, 2011. Niles and its neighbor Skokie are heavily Jewish areas in the northern suburbs of Chicago. I hope it was fairly well received and that you will similarly find it interesting.

We all know there has been a complicated and often unfortunate history between European Christians and their Jewish fellows. There is an earned suspicion that Jews have for European Christians that goes back centuries. Over time relationships between Jews and European Christians has swing wildly from acceptance, to indifference to outright antagonism and back again.

Sadly, it seems that these days the pendulum is swinging back to Europeans again seeing Jews as an unwanted element and crimes against Jews in many parts of Europe have been on the rise. Some of this is due to the influx of Muslim immigrants in Europe, but not all of it by a long shot.

What Justin Bieber and General McChrystal Have in Common

-By Selwyn Duke

Well, Justin Bieber has lost his political virginity. And it was taken by, of all people, the stoners at Rolling Stone magazine.

Excerpts released from an upcoming interview with the teen star included political statements that, as some reading this will know, have earned him criticism in conservative circles. What fewer in the right-blogosphere may realize, however, is that they also brought him lashing from the left. Attacked from the right, attacked from the left…yikes. Just call him Bill O’Reilly, Jr.

Conservatives noted Bieber’s negative comments about the US healthcare system, but is such an opinion really notable? Remember, we’re talking about a 16-year-old Canadian pop star here. Far more notable is what raised the ire of the womyn on The (wrong) View and the capons at The New York Times: the singer’s views on the left’s sacred cow, abortion. As to this, Rolling Stone writes:

Videos Wanted: $5,000 Prize for Your ObamaCare Horror Stories Video

From the Independent Women’s Voice…

The Independent Women’s Voice (IWV) announces its “ObamaCare Anniversary Video Contest!” We want your one-minute or less video explaining how the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act — popularly known as ObamaCare — will hurt our medical system and our freedoms.

At IWV, we believe the health care law passed last year takes our country in the wrong direction by putting government bureaucrats in charge of health decisions instead of empowering patients. We worry that ObamaCare will drive medical costs higher, reduce the quality of care, and ultimately lead to rationing.

If you share these concerns, we want you to put together a video of one minute or less that dramatizes the problems with ObamaCare. The video can be clever, personal, funny or touching – however you can make the most compelling case. So grab your camera, invite your friends and family, and tell your story!

Another Unhinged Wisconsin Teacher’s Obscene Hatred Forced on the Kids

-By Warner Todd Huston

UPDATED: Teacher sends his hate down the memory hole, deletes blogs

Racine middle school teacher Jack Senzig is exactly the sort of person that makes all Wisconsin teachers look bad. His selfishness and hatred is so palpable that it seems his very existence is now dedicated to disgorging it all upon his family, friends, and, worse, his students. In fact, his hatred for everyone that disagrees with him has gotten so bad that he cannot resist forcing images of torture, murder, and evisceration onto his students.

This cretin has major issues, folks, and he’s a teacher of children.

Thanks to Real Debate Wisconsin we find the disgusting imagery that this “teacher” is disgorging on the various websites he operates, sites that his students and friends visit.

Wild Growth in Extremist, Anti-Government Groups in America… Or Is There?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Without having any substantive proof of its claims, once again the Old Media takes the word of The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a group that says right-wing hate groups are on the rise in the United States of America. Worse that Old Media outlet, Agence France Presse, simply takes this group’s press release, re-words it a bit and regurgitates it as if it were straight news. Typically, contrary to good journalistic practice, there is no second source to prove that these “hate” groups are on the rise. What’s more is that the SPLC’s claims are taken as gospel year in and year out by every Old Media outlet, not just the AFP.

Citing the “research” of the SPLC, AFP gravely intones, “Membership in anti-government extremist groups continues to explode in the United State.” Why are all these haters gathering together in never before seen numbers in our country? Because we have a black president, of course. Also because we have conservative lawmakers and Tea Party groups rising in popularity, naturally.

We are breathlessly told that these “active hate groups” have risen 7.5 percent since last year and now top 1,000 hate groups for “the first time” since the 1980s.

Texas Abortion Centers Killing Teen’s Babies Without Informing Parents

-By Warner Todd Huston

Texas has a parental notification law for abortions. Underage teens are not supposed to be allowed to have the procedure until her parents are made aware of the crisis. Unfortunately, it has been discovered that many abortion mills in Texas are breaking the law and killing the babies of under aged girls without informing parents.

But there are more violations than just that. A three-month-long investigation by a pro-life group has also found that medical records are routinely and illegally destroyed and hazardous medical waste is commonly disposed of illegally.

LifeNews.com reports that Operation Rescue has announced that it has identified several abortion clinics that have violated regulations imposed by the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

I Want To Join A Union

-By Nancy Morgan

Until I saw the thousands of loyal union members expressing solidarity by their courageous protests in Wisconsin, I had no idea of the great perks union membership entailed. Now that I do, I want in.

And not just any union – I want to join either a teacher’s union or the government workers union. Imagine – if I belonged to either of those unions I would never be able to be fired. Not only that, no-one could complain about my work, or lack of work. And even if they did, the grievance process is so long that it wouldn’t impact me for several years. My union brothers would stand beside me, no matter what. Even if they found out about that old felony conviction. (That conviction was totally unfair!)

In Arkansas, they’re even paying a teacher to do nothing after they found out she had been convicted of prostitution. It’s called “paid leave.” How cool is that?

Planned Parenthood, the Parasite

-By Chris Slavens

According to the propagandists of the radical left, the GOP launched a “war on women” last week when the House overwhelmingly agreed to yank Planned Parenthood’s federal funding. Democrats are accusing their political rivals of everything from forcing poor women to suffer, to attempting to shut the organization down. Of course, these are hollow lies designed to herd uninformed voters onto the liberal bandwagon, and are—like most Democratic arguments—easily disproved.

The Planned Parenthood Federation of America, commonly shortened to Planned Parenthood, is a group of eighty-five independent affiliates that provide a variety of services to women, including contraception, STD testing and treatment, and abortions. It’s also an extremely political organization, lobbying against parental consent laws and pharmacists’ refusal clauses (both of which are protected by the Tenth Amendment), and supporting Democratic candidates in elections. Planned Parenthood was a strong supporter of candidate Obama in 2008.

What’s wrong with that? They’re a private organization and can do what they want, right? Er, not exactly. Although Planned Parenthood receives about one-fourth of its funding from private donors, it receives a whopping one-third from the federal government; the organization raked in $363.2 million from the taxpayers in the 2008-2009 fiscal year. Federal law prohibits federal funding of abortions (with some exceptions), but Planned Parenthood openly calls for the removal of this reasonable restriction.

Obama Says Gov’t Employees Not to Blame, Yet in 41 States They Make More Than Everyone

-By Warner Todd Huston

In a recent interview with Channel 4 TV News in Milwaukee, President Obama denied that government employees are responsible for the “budget problems” that the nation faces and that employees such as those in Wisconsin are not to blame. We shouldn’t “vilify” them, he said. Yet, seeming to contradict Obama’s claims USA Today has reported that in 41 states government employees make more on average than workers in the private sector.

In a fine demagogic manner Obama told Channel 4 that we need to understand that these public employees are “our friends and neighbors.”

Roskam Urges Democrats to Join in Spending Cuts While Majority of Dems Vote Against Pelosi on Cuts

-By Warner Todd Huston

Significantly 104 House Democrats voted in favor of the GOP led temporary budget plan that is now on its way to the Senate. This majority of House Dems voted against former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D, Calif.) who voted against the cuts. Even Dem. Number two man Steny Hoyer (D, Maryland.) voted in favor of the GOP’s continuing Resolution budget plan.

The remaining moderate Democrats that were not swept from Congress in the 2010 midterms are worried that Pelosi is marginalizing herself by catering to the far left and not trying to appeal to the centrist voters that fled for the GOP.

On Tuesday I spoke to House Majority Chief Deputy Whip Congressman Peter Roskam (R, Illinois) and he said that this vote was an important first step toward a more fiscally responsible budget. It was also important for the legitimacy of the GOP led House, too. “Imagine how the media would be spinning this if we didn’t take this step toward cuts,” he said.

Kinzinger Votes to Cut $4 Billion to Keep Government Open, Urges Obama to Act on Trade

From the office of Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger (11th District)…

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-11) released the following statement on today’s bipartisan House vote to cut $4 billion in government spending and keep the government open through March 18, 2011.

“Today, the House passed legislation that cuts $4 billion in wasteful spending and will keep the government running for another two weeks. It is high time that we cut up the government’s credit cards and draw a hard line to stop the government from overspending which is hampering job creation.

“However, two weeks worth of spending cuts is simply not enough to sustain our economy, which is why ten days ago, the House passed H.R. 1, legislation that would fund the government through the end of the 2011 Fiscal Year.

Good Riddance to Fannie & Freddie

-By Alan Caruba

I have this theory that we, the adults, all function at the emotional level of 13-year-olds, the age of bar mitzvahs in which the young man can declare to the congregation, “Today I am a man.” (Insert laughter here)

They are, of course, not adults and must wait until the ancient age of 18 to vote and 21 to get plastered. At that age, one would think that getting a bank loan to purchase a home would be difficult. Until the housing bubble burst, it wasn’t.

Before the financial collapse of the housing mortgage market in late 2008, some banks were making “Ninja” loans—no income, no job, no assets.

In a recently published book, “How the West was Lost: Fifty Years of Economic Folly—and the Stark Choices Ahead”, internationally acclaimed economist, Dambisa Moyo, delivers the bad news.

RIFs, Grifters and Reality

-By Larry Sand

Excessive teacher hiring invariably leads to layoffs; teachers need to understand this trap and protect themselves.

We are now in the midst of RIF season. In California and elsewhere, when the economy is unstable, Reduction in Force (RIF) notices must go out to teachers by March 15th. These notices apprise teachers that they may be out of a job come June. School districts don’t know in March what their budget will be for the next school year, so they typically plan for a worst case scenario. It’s almost unheard of that all teachers who get the notices actually get laid off, but some will, and teachers must be notified if there is any chance they will lose their jobs.

When the school districts send out the notices, the teachers unions angrily point fingers at the district, insisting that they cut the bureaucracy instead and suggest that taxes should be raised rather than cutting back teachers. What the districts and the unions don’t say is that they are the problem; they are complicit in the process whereby teachers lose their jobs.

Greed Before Prudence

-By Thomas E. Brewton

Wisconsin syndicalists are prepared to destroy organized government, if necessary, to continue looting the public treasury.

The spectacle of concerted strikes by teachers, other public employee unions, and by Democrat/Socialist Party legislators in Wisconsin is a throwback to the syndicalist origin of mass industrial unions in the United States. Such actions aim at forcing the state into financial ruin, if necessary, to keep and to increase the hugely disproportionate and unmerited flow of public funds channeled to public employees’ unions.

Wisconsin historically is dead center in the American syndicalist history of industrial union violence and extortion. Milwaukee’s Victor Berger was a founder of the American Socialist Party and the first Socialist Party candidate to be elected to Congress. Berger’s co-founder, Eugene V. Debs, also was a founder of the IWW (see below).
