If you are under 30, if you are not very wealthy, and even if you are healthy your healthcare insurance costs will soar thanks to Obamacare. And you won’t have any choice in the matter, either, or you will be labeled a criminal under the law.
Robert Graboyes has some of the facts at the US News.
“Millennials’ life prospects have already suffered under the weight of the Great Recession and its aftermath,” Graboyes points out. But it is about to get worse.
Choosing a state at random, the Manhattan Institute reports that before the ACA, the average 27-year-old male in Arkansas could buy a health insurance policy for roughly $54 a month. According to the White House website, on the ACA exchange, the average lowest-priced plan will be three times more expensive, costing him around $181 a month–a 235 percent increase. If he were to purchase a stripped-down catastrophic plan, it would cost roughly $135 per month, two-and-a-half times more than his current insurance.
I’ll bet the average young Obama voter is entirely ignorant of this!

Democrat leader Senator Harry Reid said that he has no interest in funding cancer treatments for kids today in a press conference about the ongoing government shut down fight. Instead of treating kids with cancer, Reid prefers to have a political tool to use against Republicans.
In the presser CNN’s Dana Bash asked a very poignant question making Reid look like the partisan hack he is–purely by accident I’m sure–when she asked about funding cancer treatments for kids who have been turned away at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
As it happens, about 200 patients a day will be turned away from the NIH because of the government shut down.
The Republicans have offered a separate funding bill to fund the NIH but the Democrats in the Senate and President Obama have refused to allow this bill to pass. So, the truth is that it is the Democrats refusing to allow these kids to get their cancer treatments.
Dana Bash pointed this out to Sen. Reid. “But if you could help one child who has cancer, why wouldn’t you do it?,” she asked.
Reid coldly replied, “why would we wanna do that?”

Worried about a government shutdown? Don’t be. It won’t affect you much. But that isn’t what the left and the Old Media establishment are saying. They are making this a doomsday scenario and the false rhetoric they are doling out to America is similar to the BS that we saw during the 2008 debate (see video below) over bailouts and stimulus spending–you know, that spending that didn’t stimulate anything but the pockets of government union members? Yeah, that stimulus.
Paul Joseph Watson made some great points in his recent posting noting that the doomsday rhetoric we heard during the 2008 stimulus and bailout debates were pretty much just what we are hearing today. If government doesn’t act it’ll be the end of the world, we were told.
I’d add that we heard the same stuff about the sequester, too. If we passed sequester and made cuts to government, the left said, children and old people would die, the military would blow away, and the country would collapse. Well, the sequester came and went, some spending was cut and guess what? No one noticed any difference at all.

President Obama and his comrades on the American left continue daily to say how great Obamacare is. But Republican Representative Tim Huelskamp of Kansas has a simple question. If it’s so great why did Obama give Congress an exemption?
Rep. Huelskamp was on MSNBC on Sept. 26 with host Al Sharpton ostensibly to talk about the abuse of food stamps, or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Sharpton ran straight toward the typical, left-wing attack that Huelskamp wanted to starve kids and kill old people. But Huelskamp calmly informed the wild-eyed, MSNBC host that the idea was to wean able-bodied people off the system so that they can go get jobs and be productive members of society instead of leeches…. OK, I said “leeches,” Huelskamp didn’t.
His reforms, the Congressman said, “won’t take a single calorie off the plates of kids.”

Even as Obamacare is already failing to meet almost every deadline and the President himself is exempting unions, his big business buddies and Congress from having to live with the law themselves, Obama is claiming that it is the GOP that is scared, scared that the people will love Obamacare once they get a taste of it.
In a recent appearance Obama made the claim that people can get “quality” healthcare for less than their cell phone bills–an outright lie, that is–and said that the GOP is running scared.

I have signed this letter. Will you talk about it to everyone you know?…
Those Who Created this Law Should Experience it Firsthand
(WASHINGTON, DC) — Independent Women’s Voice today released a coalition letter signed by 45 national, state and local leaders to Senator David Vitter (R-La.) supporting S. 1497, the “No Exemption for Washington from ObamaCare Act,” a bill that would amend the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Signatories include free-market leaders, heads of think-tanks, activist groups, business owners and organizations representing millions of Americans. (View letter as PDF)
Echoing 92 percent of voters who believe it is unfair that the Congress should be exempt from buying their insurance in the health exchanges, the signatories strongly support the effort to take back the taxpayer-funded health insurance subsidies for members and staff, and demand Washington to abide by the law as it was written and use the exchanges as they have required of millions of Americans.
September 24, 2013
The Honorable David Vitter
U.S. Senate
515 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington DC 20510
Dear Senator Vitter,
The undersigned organizations represent millions of Americans, all of whom believe in the principle of equal treatment under the law. That’s why we write in strong support of your legislation, S. 1497, The No Washington Exemption Act, which would restore this critical concept and make Congress subject to the same rules and regulations as millions of other Americans on the exchanges under the new health care law.
One of our greatest Presidents said ours is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. He meant that those in power should live by the same laws as the rest of us.

This monstrosity of a bureaucratic nightmare must be shut down before it does any more damage to our nation’s economy and health care industry. If this federal program were a patient of it’s own heath care system it would be referred to a death panel by now to determine its viability. I think it is obvious to everyone that the condition of this program is terminal.
It deserves to die. I am generally not one for promoting euthanasia, but in this case there is no sense in flogging this dead horse. It was misrepresented to the Supreme Court and John Roberts had to perform emergency surgery to the legislation in order to give it another lease on life. It was misrepresented in Congress and rammed through without the proper bipartisan committee hearings and even total review of the text of the bill. (“We have to pass it to know what is in it.”) The Republicans were completely shut out of all the negotiations with the unions, insurance companies and health industry leaders. Now various select groups have been exempted from the program and even Congressional staff members are to receive subsidies in paying for their personal health care expenses. This is gross cronyism and unconstitutional inequality under the law.

Don’t believe the media or the extremists in the Democrat Party when they say that the Republicans in the House of Representatives just voted to “shutdown government.” They did not. In fact, House Republicans just voted to fund every single thing government does… EXCEPT the ruinous government take over of our healthcare system called Obamacare.
Also don’t just accept the far left’s claim that this is a waste of time because the Senate won’t agree to the vote and it will just die unaccepted. In fact, this is where you step in by calling your Senators to tell them to join the House in defunding Obamacare.

We are hearing from many of our representatives that it just isn’t possible to defund Obamacare because the House rules say they can’t. This, as it happens, is just a dodge. The House has defunded separate things while passing the rest of a budget many times.
One of the things that weak-willed Republicans that don’t want to discuss defunding Obamacare say is that the mandatory spending cannot be clocked with an appropriations bill. This is simply not true. In fact, it has been done many times in the past.
The most obvious example is the Hyde Amendment which has renewed every single year since 1976 and prevents the expenditure of federal tax dollars on abortion. It applies both to discretionary spending as well as mandatory spending.
But abortion, you may say, is such a special situation that maybe it should be treated as such and left out of the discussion.
Then let’s do that. Let’s forget the Hyde Amendment. But there is far more evidence that the House commonly makes changes to appropriations.

If Obamacare is such a great and important law, why is Obama missing up to half of the legally imposed deadlines for its various parts by waiving or just ignoring them? That is the news this month as Obamacare seems to be proving the “train wreck” that it is.
Many of the features (or do you call them “bugs”) of Obama’s take over of our health care system are supposed to be going into effect this year. But deadlines for important features such as the employer mandate, taxpayer protection features that are supposed to stop fraud and identify theft and other aspects of the so-called “Affordable” Care Act have been passed by without implementation despite that they are absolutely mandated by the law.
All this was released in a new report by the Congressional Research Service, a non-partisan office of Congress. The report found that of the 82 deadlines, about half have already been missed.
As Forbes notes, “If you exclude the 9 deadlines that became moot because Congress never appropriated the funds to meet them, the Obama administration missed 41 out of 73 deadlines, or 56 percent.”

During his weekly address from August 17, President Obama declared that health insurance isn’t just a privilege–it’s a right.
The address, titled “Working to Implement the Affordable Care Act,” featured all the President’s well-worn claims about Obamacare that we are used to hearing.
Obama touted the fact that people under 26 can stay on their parent’s insurance, he talked of the “free mammograms,” and celebrated the access to “contraceptive care.” And then, in full demagogic mode, Obama went on to excoriate Republicans for trying to hurt “sick people” and the economy by opposing his Obamacare law.
Warming to his theme, Obama then said, “A lot of Republicans seem to believe that if they can gum up the works and make this law fail, they’ll somehow be sticking it to me. But they’d just be sticking it to you.”
While this is all typical Obama boilerplate, light on facts and heavy on sunny promises and hectoring rhetoric, one point he made was rather fantastic. He declared health insurance to be a right.
Obama wrapped up his weekend address making just that proclamation.

Louisiana’s Democrat Senator Mary Landrieu is embarrassed by America. So embarrassed that she can’t travel in Europe because some Americans lack health insurance. Naturally, many Americans would be happy to donate to a fund to give Landrieu a one-way ticket to her choice of European countries.
Landrieu was speaking at the Legis-Gator luncheon hosted by the Chamber Southwest Louisiana on August 16 when she made the remarks.
She first said that she was quite proud of her vote for Obama’s take over of America’s healthcare system. “If I had to vote for the bill again, I would vote for it tomorrow,” she said.
She went on to announce her embarrassment over America. “It’s embarrassing to me to go to places like France and Spain … and their workers all manage to have health insurance that can’t be taken away.”
Landrieu is up for re-election in 2014.
The news report then notes,

New reports are finding that President Obama’s take over of our healthcare system with his Obamacare law will give the government the right to force “inspections” on millions of American homes and your guns may be one of the factors causing a “forced” inspection.
Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) website details the “Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program” which give the government the right to invade any home of families Obama deems is a “high-risk” home.
One of the criteria of an “high-risk” home is the presence of firearms, according to a manual published by HHS in 2006.
According to Freedom Outpost other markers of a “high-risk” home are:

Some members of the Illinois chapter of Americans for Prosperity mounted a little community awareness protest over the crony capitalist role in Obamacare’s “enroll America” program being carried out by Blue Cross/Blue Shield. The protest was held outside the healthcare giant’s downtown headquarters, today.
In a past press release, Americans for Prosperity said, “Blue Cross and Blue Shield executives met with President Obama and Secretary (Kathleen) Sebelius as recently as April to discuss how they can work together to enroll as many people as possible in insurance policies through the exchange. This is the epitome of a Big Business-Big Government partnership designed to grow private business profits through government force, all under the guise of a non-profit.”

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, once a fairly conservative Republican, is railing against the plan for defunding Obamacare being pushed by Republicans like Senators Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, calling the plan “stupidity,” and saying that conservatives are “too angry” to “win elections.”
On his little watched MSNBC show, Scarborough beat up on Republicans for wanting to “shut down the government.” Of course, this is the left wing’s misconstruction of what Cruz and Lee are saying. There is no “shut down” being proposed, exactly. And it is no surprise that Scarborough is touting the left-wing line since he sold his soul to the left to be on the extremist, left-wing MSNBC network.
In fact, Cruz himself has said shutting down government won’t stop Obamacare, so it is absurd for Scarborough and his left wing comrades to make that leap.
The idea is to pass a budget that funds all of government except Obamacare. That isn’t “shutting down government.”

A new ad slamming Obamacare will air during NBC’s long-running comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live, says YG Network, a conservative advocacy group.
YG Network is calling its ad “The Sell” and portrays an advertising team trying desperately to find way to sell the “really unpopular” law to the American people. “We’re supposed to sell this junk?” one character laments.
The piece ends with the team exultant that no matter what they do they’ll get millions of taxpayer dollars to fund their work. A voice over at the end tells viewers to “Tell President Obama to stop the sell. We’re not buying it.”
The ad campaign features the Twitter hashtag, #stopthesell.
YG Network says its ad will also air during NBC’s Meet the Press and several prime-time programs such as America’s Got Talent.
In part, these ads are in response to the big ad push that Obama has initiated, too. Obama is spending billions of our tax dollars to push Obamacare. Of course, this all raises the question: if Obamacare is so great, why is Obama still spending billions of our tax dollars to sell it to us?

So, here is an amusing one: Obama created a call center for Americans to call in and find out about how Obamacare will “help” them out. But the call center is stocked with mostly part time jobs and isn’t paying any healthcare benefits to its employees.
As Eliana Johnson notes at NRO’s The Corner, “Obama administration announced last month that it is setting up a call center that will be accessible to Americans 24 hours a day” so that Americans could call in with questions about the President’s government takeover of our healthcare system.
But contrary to what the President has said he wants–more full time jobs and healthcare for everyone–the new jobs in his call center will have neither.

All the mud-slinging that’s fit to print is apparently The New York Times’ revised motto if a recent editorial attacking a pair of video ads that raise questions about Obamacare is any indication as the Times decides to spend half its editorial attacking the character of some donors to the group that put out the ads instead of sticking to the issues.
The ads were put out by Americans for Prosperity, a group that counts as donors a pair of famous conservative brothers that serve as the left’s biggest boogiemen: the Koch brothers.
The Times spends its first four paragraphs attacking the Kochs on a personal level. Calling them liars, employing class warfare against them, and saying–get out your tinfoil hat, here–they hide their real agenda because it is just soooo evil.
In fact, I almost feel compelled to spell Koch Brothers with a capital “B” in brothers as the phrase has become a noun to the left in their effort to demonize the pair. And, interestingly, as the Times spends so much energy on excoriating the conservative philanthropists it must be noted that the pair are not in control of the ads or their content. The ads were put out by Americans for Prosperity, a group to which the Kochs are but donors–major donors, sure, but not wholly controlling donors.
Oh, the paper does finally get to refuting some of the points in the two AFP ads, but even there they unleash liberal trope instead of cogent analysis.
But as the “paper of record” falls all over itself to take Obamacare’s promises at face value without spending much effort to really looking at the facts, even President Obama’s own administration has lost confidence in the federal takeover of our healthcare system.

California Democrat, Representative Nancy Pelosi recently informed the nation that July Fourth isn’t just for fireworks and dissing the Brits any more. It is also the day we should “celebrate” Obamacare.
Sure July Fourth is traditionally celebrated as the day we declared independence from Great Britain, an action that preceded the Revolutionary War and set the tone for our nascent nation. But now it has another significance. As far as Pelosi is concerned it is “health independence” day, too.
“Next week, when we celebrate Independence Day we’ll also be observing health independence,” Pelosi said during a press briefing recorded by CSPAN. She goes on to say that, “this week marks one year since the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act. It captures the spirit of our founders. The spirit they wrote in the Declaration of Independence… So, we’ve had Social Security, Medicare, and now health independence, and that’s something our members will take home to celebrate over this Independence Day.”
Pelosi also bent history to chide the GOP saying that if Paul Revere was a Republican, today he would be running through the streets shouting “sequester is coming!”
You must read her full “health independence” statement to get the full effect…

Barack Obama has been reaching out to all sorts of non-government partners in a renewed effort to push his Obamacare law. The President’s latest Obamacare-pushing partner will be the famed women’s magazine Cosmopolitan.
In its fall issues, Cosmo will begin to publish multiple feature articles extolling the virtues of Obamacare, will inform readers on how to sign up and will celebrate the many benefits they might realize by accepting the all-encompassing law.
The magazine’s editor-in-chief, Joanna Coles, says that she feels her role as Obamacare flack is pivotal. “This stuff is really important. It’s life-changing for a lot of people.”

President Obama chose former Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius to head the Department of Health and Human Services, the agency most involved in implementing the Affordable Care Act. But Sebelius is under heavy criticism for her efforts thus far to break out the “train wreck” that is Obamacare.
The Orwellian named Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is causing heartburn all across the political spectrum and for many HHS Secretary Sebelius’ missteps are making matters worse.
things have been sour from the beginning. One of the law’s principal authors, Democrat Senator Max Baucus of Montana, has called Obamacare a “huge train wreck.”
“I’m very concerned that not enough is being done so far–very concerned. Small businesses have no idea what to do, what to expect,” Baucus warned on April 17.
Baucus isn’t the only one worried. Polling still shows that more oppose the law than favor it.

The New York Times is exasperated with the lack of progress in Congress of “fixes” to the massive and far reaching Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. This exasperation has evinced itself in an odd way as the Times seems to be expressing sympathy for lobbyists and businesses trying to make changes to the law.
In a May 26 piece by Jonathan Weisman, the Times complains of gridlock, scolds Republicans for wanting to repeal the massively intrusive law, and highlights the hard work ahead of the lobbyists campaigning for changes.
Interestingly, the paper admits that Obamacare is both deeply flawed and was passed in 2010 without due diligence by Democrats.
The paper, though, dismisses those flaws as important and points out that most laws of this size go through bouts of revisions and “technical corrections” after passage. In short order the paper goes on to express its heartfelt sympathy with lobbyists seeking those changes.
“But as they prowl Capitol Hill,” Weisman writes, “business lobbyists like Mr. DeFife, health care providers and others seeking changes are finding, to their dismay, that in a polarized Congress, accomplishing them has become all but impossible.”

During the May 22 broadcast of National Public Radio’s “Talk of the Nation,” host Neil Conan repeatedly contradicted a guest by claiming that the IRS has nothing at all to do with Obamacare. NPR’s Conan is, of course, completely incorrect. The IRS is up to it’s Tea Party harassing neck in Obamacare.
The guest Conan contradicted was Kellyanne Conway, a Republican strategist and pollster. Conway was on to discuss the various scandals in which Obama is mired and close to the end of her segment she questioned how the American people can trust the IRS to implement Obamacare.
Conan initially pressed her on the claim saying that she must have “misspoken.”
“And I think you may have misspoken earlier, Kellyanne Conway, about the IRS and its role in health care,” the host claimed. “It is responsible for collecting the fine if somebody does not get healthcare, it’s not responsible whether somebody gets healthcare or not.”

Even as the state of California is drowning in debt and already suffering under an avalanche of unfunded mandates, a powerful healthcare advocacy group in the Golden State is pushing for free healthcare for all illegal aliens.
The group, The California Endowment, has launched a new program called “Health Happens Here” to push expanded healthcare. To highlight the issue, Cal. Endow. has debuted a new video titled, “Dreaming of Healthcare.”
The video features young, illegal immigrants pleading to be included in Obamacare as well as California’s healthcare system.
“I’m undocumented, but I dream that one day we will all be treated as one people, because we are one people,” the young people tell viewers. “Now, our country has spoken saying that everyone should have affordable healthcare.”
“I dream that one day, ‘everyone’ will include me,” they say.
This new burden would drive the state further into bankruptcy. California is already rated as one of the worst run states in the nation.
Having eight of the ten worst foreclosure areas in the nation, the state has lost over $2 trillion in homeowner equity–a number that exceeds its yearly income–has the 3rd worst unemployment rate in the country, and finds within its borders nearly 1/3 of the nation’s welfare recipients.
