Pro-Jihad, Al Jazeera Causes Scene at Pro-Christian Conference

-By Warner Todd Huston

On July 23, an employee of the radical, Islam-supporting “news” outlet Al Jazeera was thrown out of an event sponsored by a Christian group after sneaking in and secretly recording the event despite being denied media credentials, a report says.

Eyewitness accounts of the incident reported by the Washington Free Beacon on Wednesday, say that two men identified as Matthew Cassel and Micah Garen were ejected from the Christians United for Israel’s (CUFI) annual D.C. gathering after sneaking in and “clandestinely filming events closed to the press”

Both reporters claimed to be working for Al Jazeera at the time and were denied media credentials because of Al Jazeera’s pro-Jihad bias.

As the Beacon reports, “Cassel is a photojournalist with Al Jazeera English,” and “Garen is a cofounder of Four Corners Media. Another Four Corners Media cofounder, Marie-Helene Carleton, had initially applied for television credentials as an Al Jazeera English employee.”

Al Jazeera Employees Resign Over Network Siding with Muslim Brotherhood

-By Warner Todd Huston

Just as Al Jazeera America prepares for its national debut, employees of Al Jazeera’s parent network are resigning in anger over the network’s blatant bias in favor of Egyptian President Mursi and the Muslim Brotherhood. Many in Egypt feel that Al Jazeera is clearly promoting the agenda of the extremist Islamist organization and working to thwart those that stand against it.

MEMRI.org, a website dedicated to translating into English news sources from the Middle East, reports that one well-known female presenter, Fatma Nabil, resigned early in July because Al Jazeera was reporting stories from the Muslim Brotherhood’s point of view not to mention that Mursi was supported heavily by network executives and programmers.

The Middle East-watching website quoted Fatma Nabil as criticizing the network’s coverage of the current unrest in Egypt. “We had the feeling that the channel is partisan in favor of political Islam, and in most cases selectivity is exercised in broadcasting the text messages [of the viewers] on the channel, and even more so in the selection of guests and interviewees,” she said.

Up to 22 other employees have also resigned in protest over the obvious bias that Al Jazeera indulges in favor of Mursi and the Muslim Brotherhood.

“This tilt by the channel has many facets,” Memri points out.

Soledad O’Brien Headed to Al Jazeera

-By Warner Todd Huston

Al Jazeera America has landed another member of the American media as Soledad O’Brien joins the foreign-owned cable network that is set to debut later this year.

The Soon to launch Al Jazeera America, owned by the Oil-rich, Muslim country of Qatar, has snapped up O’Brien since she was fired by CNN for low ratings last March.

Politico reported that Ehab Al Shihabi, executive director of Al Jazeera’s international operations and the senior executive, praised the hire saying, “O’Brien’s career producing and reporting on the human side of many of the most important stories of the past decade will fit in perfectly with what Al Jazeera America will be covering every day.”

“Her dedication to that type of journalism is what makes it so exciting to announce that she and her production company are joining the Al Jazeera America team,” Al Shihabi said.

Washington’s ‘Newseum’ to Host Al Jazeera Studios

-By Warner Todd Huston

Media broadcaster Al Jazeera is owned by the Nation of Qatar, a Muslim country whose legislature operates mainly upon Sharia law. Since the mid 19th century Qatar has been entirely controlled by the monarchical Al Thani family. Today, Al Jazeera’s new American cable news network will broadcast out of the “Newseum,” an organization dedicated to freedom, liberty, and the First Amendment situated only blocks from the capitol building in Washington D.C.

“Is there anything wrong with that picture?” asks Claudia Rosett in a recent Weekly Standard piece.

When it opened in 2008 in downtown D.C., the Newseum celebrated its focus on Americanism, the Constitution, the history of journalism, and the First Amendment. Now it is hosting a network from a nation that holds to no such niceties. Al Jazeera, as it happens, is entirely owned by the Qatari state and is not a free media outlet.

Since the oil-rich nation bought out environmental guru Al Gore’s cable TV network to host Al Jazeera’s new American outlet, we have been told it will be “independent” and allowed to follow the news anywhere it take them.

That remains to be seen, of course. We cannot know what the future will hold for the sort of journalism that Al Jazeera will practice.

Al Jazeera Looking to Hire ‘800 American Journalists’

-By Warner Todd Huston

As it gears up for it’s summer debut, Al Jazeera is looking to hire upwards to 800 American journalists and media professionals for its new Al Jazeera America cable news network.

Crain’s Chicago Business reports that Al Jazeera is meeting with news organizations and advertisers in Chicago in anticipation of a July or August launch date.

An Al Jazeera spokesman claimed that his new 24-hour news network would feature the perspective of “average Americans” and intended to air “long-form,” documentary-style reports.

“It’s really about the real people in the mainstream with heavy investigative journalism” and the new network will be “covering domestic news from a global perspective and covering global news in a local way,” said Ehab Al Shihabi, executive director of international operations.

Al Shihabi also made the claim that his new network would be guided by “unbiased” reporting.

Traitors: American Journalists Attack Koch Brothers, Support Al Jazeera

-By Warner Todd Huston

There is a confluence of events over the last few weeks that perfectly proves the essential anti-Americanism of the Old Media establishment in this country today. It is evinced in two separate stories, one wheret the left is excoriating the Koch brothers for wanting to buy the L.A. Times and a contrasting story where journalists are falling all over themselves to get hired by the new news network being started by Al Jazeera, the jihad-supporting, anti-American, Muslim-owned news agency.

At the end of April, stories began to emerge that conservative brothers David and Charles Koch might be interesting in buying a newspaper such as the Los Angeles Times in an effort to enlarge their media presence. This news sent the Old Media establishment into conniption fits.

The billionaire Koch brothers are libertarian leaning and have used their money to fund many conservative causes. They were, for instance, a big part of forming the activist group Americans for Prosperity among others.

Almost instantly reports came out that “half the staff” of the Times vowed to quit their jobs if the Kochs were allowed to buy the paper. Quickly on the heels of that news, the newspaper union put out a statement saying that the Kochs are unfit to own a newspaper.

Even Los Angeles politicians were jumping the Koch haters bandwagon. Several L.A. councilmen weighed in attempting to prevent any possible sale of the paper to the conservative duo.

So, a pair of Americans who want to buy a newspaper are finding the entire media establishment rising up to attack them and to try and prevent any such sale. Worse, the media’s lapdog politicians are joining the effort by illicitly trying to use their influence in government to put a stop to a perfectly legitimate sale.

Conan O’Brien Slams Republicans, Democrats, the Press at WHCD

-By Warner Todd Huston

Typical of when a Democrat is president, during a keynote monologue at the White House Correspondents Dinner (WHCD), the President is spared from too many mean spirited barbs. In keeping with that tradition, TBS’ Conan O’Brien poked a lot of fun at Republicans and conservatives with a bit sharper stick than he used to poke Democrats.

This year’s WHCD started with a slew of media outlets discussing the now annual slam on the event as delivered by long-time Washington reporter Tom Brokaw. The semi-retired NBC anchor has lamented for some time that the whole party atmosphere, replete with musicians and Hollywood celebrities–fittingly, this year the Duck Dynasty folks attended–makes a mockery of the seriousness of the media’s work.

After the President delivered his spiel on Saturday night, late night comedian Conan O’Brien took the stage to deliver the keynote address.

Unsurprisingly, Republicans showed up early as the comedian’s targets and naturally, even though he hasn’t been in office for over four years, now, an obligatory slam of George W. Bush as “stupid” had to be delivered.

Near the top of his address Conan mentioned the opening of the George W. Bush Presidential Library joking that the library had “Millions of books, articles and documents and if you go you can be the first to read them.”

CNN’s Ali Velshi Joins Al Jazeera America

-By Warner Todd Huston

Marking its first high profile hire, Al Jazeera has announced that it has hired CNN’s chief business correspondent, Ali Velshi, for its new Al Jazeera America cable network.

Al Jazeera America is preparing for a summer launch after having bought Al Gore’s Current TV network last December.

CNN President Jeff Zucker made the announcement in an April 3 staff meeting reporting that Velshi’s last day is April 5. Zucker assured staffers that the parting was amicable and that CNN was sorry to see him go.

“It’s been an amazing almost 12 years at CNN. Love it more today than I ever have, and CNN is going to be great under Jeff,” Velshi said. “I basically grew up here, so it’s sad to leave, but I’ve got a great opportunity to stretch some new muscles and grow something, and it appeals to my entrepreneurial side.”

That new opportunity turns out to be Al Jazeera. Upon Al Jazeera America’s launch this summer, Velshi will host an as yet un-named, “magazine-style,” half-hour weekend business program that is later planned to switch to weekdays.

Feminist, HuffPo Blogger Naomi Wolf Joining Al Jazeera

-By Warner Todd Huston

Political consultant, feminist, and Huffington Post blogger Naomi Wolf is in talks to join Al Jazeera, the Qatari-owned news network that purchased Al Gore’s cable network, Current TV.

Responding to inquiries, Wolf said the talks are “extremely informal and very, very preliminary.”

Wolf currently writes for both the Huffington Post and the UK Guardian and has already scaled back her work the British newspaper. Huffington Post has areported that Wolf will be ending her association with the Internet site though no terms were announced.

Naomi Wolf has a long history of feminist activism authoring such books such as The Beauty Myth and Promiscuities but she also has a history of consulting for Democrats such as Al Gore. Al Jazeera Sends Lobbyists to Capitol Hill

-By Warner Todd Huston

After buying Current TV, Al Gore’s struggling cable TV network, Al Jazeera has now hired a lobbying firm to push its interests in Washington D.C.

The Muslim-owned TV network hired the firm of DLA Piper to ply the halls of Congress pushing its issues on our elected officials.

The official filing by DLA Piper says that the firm will be providing “informational communications regarding client’s cable television channel.”

One of the firm’s lobbyists is Mark Paoletta, a former chief counsel for oversight and investigations for the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

DLA Piper is an international firm with offices in 30 countries in the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Current TV was purchased in December by Al Jazeera America Holdings, a U.S. subsidiary of the Qatar-based TV network.

Gore’s TV Staffers Not Happy About Being Sold to Al Jazeera

-By Warner Todd Huston

Al Gore may have gotten a multi-million dollar payday from his new friends in Jihadland, but his Current TV employees don’t seem so all fired up about being sold to Al Jazeera.

Current TV employees were called to an early staff meeting in San Francisco and via teleconference to the New York and Los Angeles offices in order to be introduced to their new Al Jazeera masters.

Ehab Al Shihabi, executive director of Al Jazeera’s international operations, and Muftah AlSuwaidan, general manager of the London bureau were in attendance and so was Al Gore’s partner Joel Hyatt. But, Al Gore, Current TV’s globalwarming-pushing star was nowhere to be seen.

“Of course Al didn’t show up,” one staffer grumbled. “He has no credibility.”

Former Mich Gov. Jennifer Granholm Quits Current TV After Sale to Al-Jazeera

Granholm, a former Democrat Governor of Michigan, announced on her Facebook page that she is not going to pursue another contract with the little seen cable network most famous for having been started by a cabal fronted by former Vice President Al Gore.
