Is Pedophilia a Mental Disorder?

-By Warner Todd Huston

The website ScienceDaily.com posted a short story claiming that researchers may have discovered that there is a correlation between a man’s height — or rather his lack thereof — and a predisposition toward pedophilia. Now, the science of this is not the issue that immediately popped into my mind when I read this. No, what struck me as interesting was the social aspect of this study when contrasted with the newfound favorability that homosexuality has seen since the 1970s. After reading this report on pedophilia, I found myself wondering how long it would be before pedophiles would protest this characterization of their predilection as as a mental disorder? I wondered how long it would be before their condition was deemed a “natural” one by someone and I wondered how long before they would advocate for the determination that they had some sort of mental defect to be reversed mirroring the same success homosexuality had in getting that mental disorder sanctioned as “normal” by the mental health profession?

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), a series of teaching and research facilities in Toronto, Canada, has apparently found that pedophilic males are shorter than average, non-pedolhilic males. Their study was recently published in Sexual Abuse: A Journal of Research and Treatment and suggested that pedophiles may have been “exposed to pre-birth conditions that affected their physical development.” The study observed this difference by analyzing the files of over 1,000 men in Toronto who were assessed for pedophilia or other sexual disorders between 1995 and 2006.

“A difference in average height is a trait found in other illnesses with biological links. The average difference in height was two centimeters, which is similar to the shorter height associated with schizophrenia or Alzheimer’s disease,” says the report on ScienceDaily.com. The report also suggests that pedophilia might, then, be caused by biological factors and if that’s true, “the discovery of biological markers for pedophilia has important implications for future study and possibly treatment.”

That’s not all. The study also found that pedophiles seem to have lower IQs, are three times more likely to be left-handed, have repeatedly failed grades in school, and strangely, had more head injuries as children.

Naturally, they claim that more study is required to solidify these findings.

But, here is the question that struck me: if pedophilia is found to have “biological” causes and might be treatable should these “markers” be discovered, what does that say about homosexuality? Why should homosexuality be considered “normal” and not open for treatment while pedophilia should be considered a treatable mental disorder? What is the difference between the two conditions? After all, they are both considered aberrant behavior by most people even today, and they both certainly have been considered “sick” behavior throughout history.

Even Harvard Says MSM Biased for Democrats

-By Warner Todd Huston

Harvard: Positive Newspaper Stories on Dems- 58.8%, Positive for Repubs- 26.4%

If even Harvard University says that the Media overwhelmingly favors Democrats in their coverage, you’ve got to finally accept that it is true. The MSM loves Democrats and hates Republicans. It’s just that simple. Investor’s Business Daily gives us the low down on the gushingly positive coverage that the MSM bestows upon their favored political party by reporting the results of the Project for Excellence in Journalism and the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy from Harvard (“hardly a bastion of conservative orthodoxy” as IBD quips). The survey found that the “media are sympathetic to Democrats and hostile to Republicans.”

Here on Publius’ Forum we say, “DUH!”

Democrats are not only favored in the tone of the coverage. They get more coverage period. This is particularly evident on morning news shows, which “produced almost twice as many stories (51% to 27%) focused on Democratic candidates than on Republicans.”

The most flagrant bias, however, was found in newspapers. In reviewing front-page coverage in 11 newspapers, the study found the tone positive in nearly six times as many stories about Democrats as it was negative.

It’s always nice to get one of your main premises proven correct and this survey does just that. Here is how the stats broke down:

Newspapers
Democrats — 58.8% Positive, 30% Neutral, 11.3% Negative
Republicans — 26.4% Positive, 34% Neutral, 39.6% Negative

Network Evening News
Democrats — 39.5% Positive, 43.4% Neutral, 17.1% Negative
Republicans — 18.6% Positive, 44.2% Neutral, 37.2% Negative

Cable News
Democrats — 33.9% Positive, 40.6% Neutral, 25.5% Negative
Republicans — 28.7% Positive, 40.9% Neutral, 30.4% Negative

NPR’s “Morning Edition”
Democrats — 41.2% Positive, 52.9% Neutral, 5.9% Negative
Republicans — 30% Positive, 50% Neutral, 20% Negative

PBS News
Democrats — 8.3% Positive, 66.7% Neutral, 25% Negative
Republicans — 0% Positive, 77.8% Neutral, 22.2% Negative

The newspapers stats very much confirm my own thoughts on that industry and TV is no surprise, either. But, I’d also like to point your attention to the PBS stats where you can see that the survey didn’t find a single positive story about a Republican on PBS. Zero. Nada. The big goose egg.

Folks, this is our state sponsored broadcast agency paid for by YOUR taxes. Yet, they couldn’t find one single Republican to do a positive story about? Half the electorate is not being represented by this agency that those voter’s taxes pay for? Imagine that!

Just one more reason why we should instantly end their funding. Don’t we live in a Representative Democracy? Shouldn’t our taxes go to benefit us all equally? Well, PBS does not benefit half those who pay for it.

Utah Can Lead the Revolution!

-By Israel Teitelbaum

When the American Colonists of the 18th century felt their liberty being violated by the ruling government, they came together and decided on a plan to take back their government. Their legacy gives us the ability to accomplish the same, and the voters of Utah can lead the way.

Here’s how.

Voters in Utah are being asked to vote on a minor voucher program that will take nothing away from public schools. Actually, it will add to their per-pupil budget. Yet, the unions are spending millions of dollars opposing these vouchers. Why?

They claim these measly vouchers – averaging $2,000 – will hurt the public schools. While it is true that competition will eventually force some useless bureaucrats out of the system, the children will only benefit. Just as competition in enterprise always improves quality and efficiency, so is this true for education. Proof of this is readily available wherever vouchers have been given a chance.

Far more than education is at stake here. America’s education monopoly is an enormous enterprise of over $500 BILLION per year that generates over $2 BILLION per year into union coffers. Much of this cash goes to generously grease the wheels of government, which generates enormous political power.

I know it sounds very harsh to say this out loud, but factually the educrats are holding our children hostage in substandard schools (see Wall Street Journal editorial, below), often under horrendous conditions, in order to maintain this bonanza on the backs of hard-working taxpayers. How they get away with this day after day and year after year is difficult to explain, other than to say that he who controls the government gets to do whatever they please.

Battle the Enemy On Their Own Turf!

-By Israel Teitelbaum

Conservatives can win big in if they were willing to fight the Libs on their own turf. But they refuse to do so. Why?

Even optimistic Republicans have already conceded the Congress in the coming election and are merely “hopeful” about the presidency. This is the result of facts now on the ground, in accordance with the present polling. Although conservatives are engaged in numerous battles, ranging from family issues to national defense, they will only do battle from a position of defense – on their own turf – and refuse to go on the offensive. You can’t win a football game without going on the offensive. How can you win in politics with such a strategy?

The source of power – the engine – of the left is obviously the $500 billion-a-year educational monopoly, which they control – where 89 percent of our nation’s children are indoctrinated. This is a system that has been failing the American people for many decades, contributed to the destruction of countless lives and communities, and is directly responsible for the decline of our culture. Yet, our political leaders are afraid to stand up the $2 billion per-year unions which amply grease the wheels of government and the mainstream media.

Baltimore Teachers Union Protests Chief… Or Did They?

-By Warner Todd Huston

It was claimed that 150 members of the Baltimore teachers union had gathered to protest in front of school system headquarters to protest an issue the union has with school Chief Andres Alonso. The story in the Baltimore Sun tries its best to make it seem a united cause by teachers but one upon reflection it becomes obvious that the 150 protesters were not who they pretended to be. In a teachers union of 12,000 members a showing of 150 is bad enough a representation but when many of the 150 protesters aren’t even teachers, well, doesn’t that say how little support this union has on the issue? So, if many of the so-called protesters at this rally weren’t even members of the union in question… just who IS the Baltimore teachers union representing?

At issue is whether the schools should require teachers to spend at least 45 minutes per week in planning sessions with colleagues. The union says that teachers don’t have time for planning for their own class work, much less time to be forced to meet with colleagues. Alonso claims he won’t budge from his position and therefore the union wants him fired.

Not earth shattering conflict, to be sure and the fact that the issue isn’t moving too many of Baltimore’s teachers to protest shows that. Yet, even as they can’t get much support from their own members the union is still pressing forward with their own agenda.

Here is what the Baltimore Sun says about the makeup of the 150 protesters. Two of the 150 were a city councilwoman and a national union official, neither of whom represent the actual teachers of Baltimore.

Among those who turned out to support the union was Edward J. McElroy, president of the American Federation of Teachers, which has 1.2 million members. And City Councilwoman Sharon Green Middleton, who spoke at the protest, said she would introduce a resolution asking the council to intervene on behalf of teachers.

And here is the most telling paragraph in the story:

Last night’s protest attracted more than just teachers. Some education advocates used the rally to further their argument that the city should have an elected school board, rather than the current structure where the mayor and governor appoint the board jointly. Other unions, including electrical workers, sent representatives to show their support.

So, let’s consider this. There were only 150 protesters in the first place. If we take away the “other unions” and advocates for separate issues how many ACTUAL teachers union members were at this thing?

It seems that the original 150 out of 12,000 members is even smaller still.

The Left Tries to Quash Free Speech

Once again, the fascist left tries to quash free speech on one of our oppressive University campuses. Here is a great report on it from some folks who banded together to record the event on video and photographs.

Nonie Darwish at Berkeley during Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week.

“Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week” is a nationwide series of lectures and presentations organized by conservative writer David Horowitz and his various organizations. On the evening of October 22, dozens of famous speakers gave lectures at universities around the country, mostly on the subject of Islamic extremism. The presenter at U.C. Berkeley that evening was Nonie Darwish, an Arab-American author and feminist who has become a Muslim apostate and vociferous critic of radical Islam.

Her appearance at Cal was sponsored by the Berkeley College Republicans, and strongly opposed by several left-wing groups and Muslim organizations, including World Can’t Wait, the Muslim Students Association, and Students for Justice in Palestine. Her speech was even condemned by the ASUC, the official student governing body at Berkeley.

Please, please go to the site and view the hate spewed by the anti-American left infesting our schools.

The report was created by a coalition of folks trying to get out the word.

This report is an experiment in collaborative online journalism. The photos on this page were taken by seven different photographers, each working independently and unknown to one another, who submitted their pictures, videos and observations to a central editor, where they were compiled into a single report. The online nicknames of the seven “citizen journalists” are: bbuck, Chicken Kiev, Dan K., Luvpotion v.9.0, Marwan’s Daughter, neocon hippie, and Temmy. The central editor who created this report — and who did not actually attend the event itself — was me, zombie, the proprietor of this site. I edited the images and videos, and wrote the captions and introduction; the citizen journalists took the photos and videos, and provided first-hand observations and notes, which are the basis of this report.

Why Do We Allow America’s Enemies to Run Schools Here?

-By Warner Todd Huston

With such a headline, you’d be excused for assuming this piece is just another attack on our failing schools, just another screed against the evils of teachers unions, or a whack against the left wing lunatics who run our universities. No, this time the title is no mere hyperbole. This time it says exactly what it means for in the state of Virginia a school is being run by radical Islamists, funded by a foreign nation, and under condemnation from the U.S. government. In this time of war, the State of Virginia really is allowing our enemies to run a school teaching Islamist hate to our children right in our midst.

A private Islamic school funded by the Saudi government is being accused by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom of teaching Wahhabi Islamism to 1,000 K-12 children in Fairfax County, Virginia. Wahhabism is the strict and hateful brand of Islam that buttresses the twisted ideas of people like Usama bin Laden and his al Qaeda organization and the Taliban extremists in Afghanistan and it is guiding the daily class work of some of Virginia’s children.

The Commission reports that the curriculum at the Islamic Saudi Academy reflects the religious intolerance taught at schools in Saudi Arabia where intolerance and bigotry against Jews and Christians is the norm. In part, the Commission’s report states that, “significant concerns remain about whether what is being taught at the ISA promotes religious intolerance and may adversely affect the interests of the United States.”

Naturally the school and its minders in the Saudi embassy profess shock and dismay that they’d be questioned about their efforts to teach their own brand of “truth” to American children. But, it isn’t just extreme Islamism that the school is faulted for. The Commission also warned that the close operational ties and funding scheme between the school, the Saudi embassy and the government of Saudi Arabia may violate U.S. law restricting the activities of foreign embassies.

This school was in the news once before, too. After the Sept. 11th attacks by radical Islamists, a former valedictorian of the school, Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, was convicted of, and is now serving a 30-year prison sentence for, plotting the assassination of president H. W. Bush in 2005. Ali became an al Qaeda member while attending college in Saudi Arabia after graduation from the school in Virginia.

PC Education: Lost in Space

-By Thomas E. Brewton

A liberal Yale professor takes a critical look at his cohort’s handiwork.

Politically-correct, multicultural education, like a lost spacecraft drifting forever in space with no destination and no way to return home, has lost contact with real life. It has become a caricature of science, a bastardized version that Friedrich Hayek called scientism.

Jacob Laksin’s review on the City Journal website of Yale professor Anthony Kronman’s Education’s End: Why Our Colleges and Universities Have Given Up on the Meaning of Life describes the growing irrelevance of liberal education in the hands of liberals.

We Can Beat the Libs with Liberty! School Choice for our Future

-By Israel Teitelbaum

Currently Democrats/Liberals are riding high, and many political pundits are predicting they will be in full control of all three branches of government come January ’09.

We can change this. Right-minded voters can demand of our political leadership to change course and reverse the outcome of the ’08 election. Here’s how.

We need to demand passage of legislation to break the stranglehold that Liberals have on the American family by financially coercing parents to turn over their children for indoctrination in government-run schools. America was meant to be a free country where people make their own personal choices in life, without government interference. Our soldiers have given, and still give, their lives on behalf of liberty.

A nation “dedicated to liberty,” must allow parents the option of choosing the education that best meets the needs of every child without having to suffer the loss of school funding. We require equal opportunity in housing, employment, travel, entertainment and all public accommodations. This is needed for education as well.

This can be accomplished by passing the Civil Rights Act for Equal Educational Opportunity. Although this legislation has not yet been sponsored, the language is the same as the Civil Rights Act of 1964, minus the word “public” prior to “education.” This new legislation would simply remove the word “public” – requiring equal educational opportunity for all children, including those attending private and religious school.

Bill Gives Gov’t Employees Free Education

-By Warner Todd Huston

That headline reads right, sad to say. A new bill that has already passed both houses of Congress and is headed for Bush’s desk forgives the student loans of Federal employees of 10 years service. H.R.2669 gives already undeserving public employees yet another wonderful benefit that is denied to the average, working American.

Thanks to the brilliant idea of a Democrat from California who thought it would be a good idea to excuse the school loans of Federal employees, we can now plan on our bloated, useless government getting even larger with this bill that is sure to act as a bug zapper in the night to freeloaders everywhere. So much for the concept of a small Federal government like our Founding Fathers wanted and so much for the rugged, self-reliance of traditional American values.

Sound absurd? Well, it is, but Representative George Miller feels differently. It’s his idea that we need to give even more benefits to public employees that already enjoy the best benefits of any job market in the country. After all, since they are represented by an overly empowered and seemingly unconstitutional union they cannot be fired, so how much better can life get for them? No matter how incompetent or lazy a government worker is, they have jobs for life, great pensions, great insurance — now they even get a free education?

Where is the line to stand in to receive this kind of largess? How does an average fella find this sort of life free of the expectations of performance and hard work? I guess we just show up at the office of our local Representative and beg for a permanent, work-free, government job?

Banning Boyhood

-By Selwyn Duke

Huck Finn must be spinning in his literary grave. Just recently a Colorado Springs, Co., elementary school banned tag during recess, joining other schools that have prohibited this childhood pastime. Upon hearing this, I thought about the movement to ban cops and robbers, musical chairs, steal the bacon, and the kill-joys’ most frequent target and this writer’s favorite childhood school game, dodge ball. Then there’s the more inane still, such as the decision by the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association to prohibit keeping score in kids’ tournament play.

There are many ways to describe this trend. One might say it’s a result of the left’s antipathy toward competition, the increasing litigiousness of the day, or the inordinate concern with self-esteem and hurt feelings. Then, if I am to speak only of my feelings, the word stupid comes to mind. Really, though, regardless of whether the motivations are good or ill or the reasoning sound or not, at the end of the day I find a conclusion inescapable. Slowly, incrementally, perversely, boyhood is being banned.

Make no mistake, the aforementioned examples are not isolated social accidents but part of a pattern. Recently I was talking to a friend who has two young sons, and he mentioned how he bought their toy machine-gun and revolver at a garage sale. He and his wife remarked about how it was the only way to find realistic-looking toy guns nowadays, the kind that were staples of Boydom when I was a lad. Oh, toy guns can still be seen – that is, when they aren’t prohibited by crime-ridden cities or crazy moms – but they don’t resemble anything John Wayne would have wielded. Often misshapen, more and more they come only in colors that, well, men aren’t known for being acquainted with, ones that some would describe as “girly.”

Bare Necessities: Hard to Attain for a College Graduate

-By Nancy Salvato

College Loans: Scenario for Failure
Upon graduating from college, many twenty-somethings reconcile with living under their parents’ roofs until they can find full-time employment, pay for housing, feed, and clothe themselves. For some, there is the additional challenge of paying off college loans. “Student Monitor, a New Jersey research firm that specializes in the college market, puts a graduate’s average student loan debt at $25,760, which will take an estimated 7.9 years to pay off.” (1) Yale University’s Jing Cao has concluded that, “the current system forces college graduates into debt.” (2)

According to the experts, while paying off debt is important, the first priority of these young adults should be to start saving money, especially if they are offered a 401(k) plan at work. (3) Next, credit card debt should be addressed. This is because the interest rate is considerably higher than that of student loans which can be paid off over a longer period of time. (4) These are practical ways to address debt and help young adults become self sufficient. But it shouldn’t have to get to this point. Attaining a post secondary education shouldn’t force college graduates into debt.

Solutions to alleviate student loan debt, such as giving every newborn child a $500 certificate to open a savings account and in which the government matches contributions dollar for dollar to encourage savings for its poorest children, penalize taxpayers whose earnings fund such expenditures. While a well educated citizenry is necessary for a smooth functioning society, a likelier, more equitable way to resolve the problem of student loan debt is to eliminate the large grants and loans which serve to drive up the cost of tuition. Forcing colleges and universities to compete for students by offering a better product at a lower cost allows the free market to function properly. Furthermore, lending institutions should invest in students’ whose field of study is a sound venture. Scholarships should be awarded to students entering fields which are experiencing employee shortages. As it currently stands, college graduates who plan to work in shortage areas can sometimes have their loans discharged. Click Here

Democracy Doesn’t Always Mean Liberty and Freedom

By Frank Salvato

Liberty is one of the noblest concepts of all. It is defined as: freedom from arbitrary or despotic government or control, external or foreign rule, captivity, confinement, or physical restraint. In an ideological sense liberty embodies the idea of free thought and free speech, the expression of one’s opinions without fear of reprisal.

Liberty is the foundation for all Western democracies and served as the main catalyst in the vision of America’s Founding Fathers. Without liberty no democracy can function.

But with liberty comes an elevated civic responsibility.

This responsibility includes being well educated on the facts surrounding any one issue, especially before opining or taking action. One must seek out fact-based information not only in an effort to validate our beliefs and ideology, but to challenge them as well. We must be responsible enough to brave scrutiny of our political and ideological positions. To abdicate this responsibility is to cheat ourselves out of a full and well-rounded understanding of the issue at hand. It also serves to foment a populace vulnerable to over-reaching governmental control, antithetical to the concept of liberty.

Getting Rid of American Holidays in Public Schools

-By Warner Todd Huston

At the end of September the school district in Oak Lawn, Illinois announced it was considering eliminating holiday celebrations like Christmas in its schools. Oak Lawn has seen increasing numbers of residents that identify with the Muslim faith who are naturally sending their children to the public schools there and school board members are afraid that Christian holidays are “offensive” to Muslim students.

This move follows a recent decision to eliminate pork products from the school menu.

Unsurprisingly, these cultural clashing decisions by the school board have caused acrimony among parents of the district. Stating the painfully obvious, Columbus Manor Principal Sandy Robertson said of the controversy, “It’s difficult when you change the school’s culture.”

Elizabeth Zahdan, a parent of Muslim faith who took her case to the school board wanting the school to be “more inclusive” during holiday activities, however, adamantly denied she wanted to eliminate any American styled holiday observances. “I only wanted them modified to represent everyone,” she told the Chicago Sun-Times. Zahdan disclaimed to reporters, “Now the kids are not being educated about other people.”

Unfortunately for Mrs. Zahdan, a “modified” holiday is no longer the same holiday. It becomes something else once altered. So, whatever her motives, she was effectively advocating for their elimination.

Superintendent Tom Smyth said that the reason they were eliminating or trying to “tone down” holiday celebrations was one of wasting allotted teaching time. There isn’t time enough in the day to “celebrate every holiday,” Smyth claimed. “We have to think about our purpose. Are we about teaching reading, writing and math or for parties or fund-raising during the day?”

Conservatives will, of course, be offended by the elimination of standard, Christian American holidays and having them “modified” to be “more inclusive.” Many are upset that these purported outsiders are forcing the local schools to make such changes for Muslims and rightfully so, to be sure.

But, this anger from conservatives is hard to square with their ideas of local control of the school systems. The usual conservative policy prescription for what ails public education in America is local — as opposed to Federal — control. In general, this is absolutely correct as who better to control what sort of school a community wants than the community itself, one not encumbered by meddling control from the Federal government or state officers?

The Face Of Men Abused By Women

-By Teri Stoddard

Thirty-nine misinformed Representatives have submitted House Resolution 590 to obtain more funding for domestic violence services. This has men’s and fathers’ rights advocates asking, “Why pour more money into the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) when it’s unconstitutional, as well as responsible for the destruction of many healthy, loving father-child relationships? ”

The organization RADAR (Respecting Accuracy in Domestic Abuse Reporting) did an analysis of HRES 590 and found eighteen errors. There is no mention of male victims in HRES 590 whatsoever.

Steven, 61, of northern California told me about the day he left his female abuser fifteen years ago. He said, “I told myself that if it happened again I would let her hit me, to show her that it wasn’t me, holding her arms, leaving a bruise, so she could say we fought.” They were riding in the car and she was agitated. In an attempt to avoid a confrontation he was being careful how he spoke.

This made her even angrier. He described what happened next, “We stopped in her church parking lot, and she slammed her fist, like a hammer, into my face. I thought one hit would do it, maybe two. It was four or five.”

He continued, “She went into the church and I knew, after all the years, it was over. I sat in the car, in the dark, with tears. I starting getting cold and could taste blood. A half hour passed. I thought she would come out crying and apologize. She didn’t.”

Pin the Noose on the Honky

-By Lee Culpepper

Ramming multiculturalism, diversity, and intolerant-tolerance down the throats of captive students keeps many public schools quite busy. But unwelcome menaces like critical thinking and factual history jeopardize this multicultural indoctrination of students; consequently, many politically correct educators have fought shamelessly and successfully to abolish these perceived “threats” from their classrooms. While PC terms often sound nontoxic and even advantageous, they have actually served to strangle the ability to think.

The disturbing news from Jena, Louisiana, elucidates my point. Racial mayhem has struck this small town. There we have two racial sub-cultures that clearly expose the foolishness of the PC agenda engulfing America. Multicultural zealots insist that all cultures are equal. In fact, they encourage individuals to mindlessly celebrate the culture in which they were born – especially if an individual’s culture runs diametrically opposite to America’s productive melting-pot society. Even more troublesome, to support assimilating into America’s mainstream traditions equates to an abominable sin in multiculturalism’s pagan religion.

On the other hand, the two cultures clashing in Jena help to expose political correctness for the sham that it is. If these two sub-cultures (one white, one black) of American society are equal to every other culture, then what’s the problem? Obviously, these two cultures are counterproductive for the people who live them – that’s the problem! Many other worldly cultures are counterproductive, too. Muslims who see all non-Muslims as infidels — worthy of slaughter — is a relevant example.

Iran’s Propaganda Wins the Day at Columbia!

-By Warner Todd Huston

And HERE is the reason why having Iran’s president Ahmadinejad speaking at an American University was a win-win for the bad guys.

The “Kayhan,” the official Iranian news agency, had joyous headlines of Ahmadinejad’s wonderful and successful trip to America.

“Shock in New York, Iran’s Logic Glares”

Strong, scientific and accurate answers of the President of Iran to the questions raised by the academicians in Columbia University made them applause and showed that they are not affected by the propaganda of the American Media. They officially asserted in a poll that they agreed with Ahmadinejad’s statements. The American televisions, which thought tricky questions will surprise the president, showed the program live. These sources, some of which are controlled by the Zionists, were shocked after the results of the poll came out.

According to the poll, the majority of the participants agreed that Columbia’s invitation of Ahmadinejad was a good decision…. Many Americans called the network to emphasize on the importance of freedom of speech in America…

A few people, some of whom were connected to the Zionists, protested against Ahmadinejad’s speech, but the poll showed that these were only a minority in the American society.

The people of Iran are not going to see that Ahmadinejad was laughed at as if he were a fool. The people of Iran are also not going to hear the president of Columbia, Mr. Bollinger, berate him, either. They will see is these nit-wit students applauding him as if he were a great man. The people of Iran will see their nut of a president treated as if he was loved and respected here.

And not only the people in Iran. The whole of the mid east will see Ahmadinejad’s triumph.

Score one for tyrants everywhere.

Minus one for freedom… again.

Good job Columbia.

Mexican Kids Daily Cross Texas Border for Free U.S. Paid Education

-By Warner Todd Huston

At the beginning of September, Channel 5 News revealed a shocking story in Roma, Texas. As their cameras chronicled, each morning dozens of Mexican kids are crossing the border from Mexico into the Texas border town of Roma to attend an American school, free of charge. You read that correctly. American tax money is funding the education of kids who actually live IN Mexico and who are illegally crossing the border every single day to attend U.S. schools. I have waited a suitable period of time to bring this story up, hoping that the national news sources will pick up on this absurd violation of our National sovereignty and misuse of our tax money… yet not a peep has been heard to my knowledge.

It is estimated that $4 million has been spent on Mexican kids just in Roma, Texas, alone. And no one really even knows how much has been thrown down the rat hole in other Texas border towns, not to mentions similar towns in other border states.

News Channel 5 reported on the 6th of September that these Mexican kids are getting a free education from US taxpayers because the county schools do not have very stringent residency requirements. (See video here)

Even more ridiculously, school administrators report that they aren’t even allowed to ask if a student is a U.S. citizen before admitting them to class.

The report also reveals that no one in the school system is even bothering to keep track of how many schools are giving a free education to children whose parents are not U.S. taxpayers.

Texas Homeland Security Chief: ‘Terrorists Crossed Border’

-By Warner Todd Huston

On Sept. 13th, Texas Homeland Security Director Steve McCraw announced in a speech to the North Texas Crime Commission that Texas authorities had apprehended terrorist suspects who were sneaking across the Mexico/U.S. border. Shouldn’t such a report be running through the MSM like wildfire? Yet, the MSM seems to be ignoring this explosive report with only local Texas news sources, a few Jihad watchers and bloggers having picked up the Director’s statements.

The AP did have a report, shockingly enough, but few other MSM services seem to have found it as of yet… even though the story is about a week old.

DALLAS – Texas’ top homeland security official said Wednesday that terrorists with ties to Hezbollah, Hamas and al-Qaida have been arrested crossing the Texas border with Mexico in recent years.

“Has there ever been anyone linked to terrorism arrested?” Texas Homeland Security Director Steve McCraw said in a speech to the North Texas Crime Commission. “Yes, there was.”

The Director went on to name at least one name and make the clam that some 300 people possibly linked to terror or from countries where terrorism is endemic have been apprehended at the Texas border.

-By Warner Todd Huston

Here we go again with a so-called freedom of speech claim of a bunch of low-class, petulant children playing at being real “journalists” in one of our state funded Universities. This time it’s the little fellas at The Rocky Mountain Collegian, the school paper of Colorado State University, who are hiding behind a real right and using it as cover to realize their 15 minutes of fame. These anti-intellectual, collegians are, of course, pretending to be shocked that anyone would question their “right” to print an expletive in bold headlines in their paper and are claiming that they didn’t mean to “upset” anyone. I have another four-letter word that describes this absurd claim: LIES.

Proving that our schools seem to be more interested in creating controversy, teaching anti-American ideas, and indulging in childish behavior, this supposed student newspaper staff seemed to imagine that journalism should reflect some trash mouthed, morning disc jockey’s schtick instead of serious, reasoned debate. Sadly, it is obvious that these kiddies were left to their own devices in writing and preparing their paper. It seems woefully clear that there was no faculty supervision of these anarchist wannabes. So, not only are we left wondering why our college kids so anti-intellectual but we have to wonder why no one is supervising their misguided attempts at writing. Do these school administrators get a salary to TEACH or do they not?

Remembering that Colorado is the home of Ward Churchill, though, perhaps CSU’s professors’ teaching worked only too well for these half-informed, infant newspapermen?

Denver TV Channel 7 gives us an understated headline for their report, Profane Language Puts Student Editor’s Job On Line, Editorial Raises Eyebrows, Controversy At CSU, to alert us to the story.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A four word editorial with a four letter word in it is sparking a spirited discussion on free speech at Colorado State University.

The Rocky Mountain Collegian published an editorial on page 4 of the paper Friday which read “Taser this … F*** Bush.”

Naturally, they are hiding behind their misconstruction of the principle of free speech to excuse their idiocy.

In a letter to the University Community and Collegian readers, McSwane wrote, “While the editorial board feels strongly with regard to First Amendment issues, we have found the unintended consequences of such a bold statement to be extremely disheartening.”

“I plan to be honest,” he said. “Our intentions weren’t ‘Hey, let’s upset the community.’ It was, ‘Let’s get college students to talk about freedom of speech.'”

Mr. McSwane is obviously being disingenuous… no I should speak plainly. Mr. McSwane is a liar. How can there be much doubt that he knew full well what would happen when a reaction of outrage over his calumny occurs and that he had, indeed, counted on it in order to get noticed? He wanted his name on TV and he got it. After all, of the decision for going forward with this nonsense, editor David McSwane said, “We felt it illustrated our point about freedom of speech.” Obviously it was thought out in advance and they counted on this reaction.

But here is the thing that is most vexing from these sorts of actions and that is the faux outrage that perpetrators like McSwane counter with when confronted with their effrontery.

He pretends to be shocked that anyone would be mad at him. He claims to be amazed that his paper was pulled from the shelves and that advertisers were pulling their ads. Gosh, why would people be so mad?

Harvard Professor: ‘Right Wing shanghaiing values… U.S. Not Same Country Anymore’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Harvard Magazine, a magazine that caters to the alumnus of Harvard University, gives us the blather of one of their professors, Howard Gardner, who is despairing on how we eeeevil conservatives are taking over his country.

To start with, the short Harvard Mag piece tries hard to explain why anyone should care about Gardner. Apparently it’s mostly because of his 1983 theory of “multiple intelligences.” This theory holds that humanity has different types of intelligences, that an IQ test cannot measure a person’s intelligence effectively, and that our different kinds of intelligence (I’ve heard it called “genius”) is often hard to quantify. Some have a genius in dealing with people, some have their ability in music, some in mathematics, etc. Everyone’s great ability is different than the next fellow’s. That this particular theory seemed innovative or groundbreaking proves that the only “genius” that people in academia have is that of stating the obvious and pompously proclaiming it to be of great insight.

That Wonderful Photo of Howard Gardner, Enemy to Our Nation

-By Warner Todd Huston

Now, its time to take a few minutes for some vitriol. I don’t usually do this as I prefer my vitriol to be simply an understood thing, something unnecessarily indulged in for the most part. After all, my subject matter and the disdain I hold toward it pretty much goes without saying if read clearly. I feel it doesn’t have to be reveled in. It’s obvious. I just don’t need such mindless cathartics. I’m far too secure with myself for it… usually!

But, this Howard Gardner twit really is a special case. He calls for a bit ‘o the blarney, methinks.

Just look at the picture of this numbskull, Gardner.

Look it over and see how his pose perfectly fits the emptiness of his ideology, the vacancy of his “intelligence.” Look at the vacuous glare in his eyes as he stares off into space, slobbering like a lobotomy patient with that half-grin of the mentally deficient spread across his feeble, soft face.

Off he stares into the wide blue sky, dreaming the dreams of the pandered to, wishing the wishes of those protected from the real world.

‘History’ Teacher Asks 14-Year-Olds to Renounce U.S. Citizenship

-By Warner Todd Huston

One often hears that government schools in totalitarian nations brainwash their children to love the government. People in free nations decry that as oppressing the free will of innocent children, and rightly so. In American schools, however, just the opposite is true as with the case of an anti-American teacher in a public school in Chico, California who hates this country so much that he sent a letter home to his student’s parents urging them to renounce their citizenship in the U.S. as he announced he was so doing.

Since the troubling work of the so-called progressives led by John Dewey that has resulted in the near destruction of our institutes of higher learning, American schools have been steadily undermining this country. For a long time, at least, it was isolated mostly in the Universities safely removed from our youngest and most vulnerable students. Now, this pernicious and self-loathing force is commonly seen in even our elementary and high schools all too often. Supposed “teachers” who so hate the United States, its culture, history and ideals that they are willing to cast aside any pretense of teaching and are going straight for political indoctrination of their own hate filled ideology appear everywhere you turn.

This is the case of yet another American hater, another Ward Churchillesque propagandist infesting an American public school, one paid for by public funds, who is advocating the destruction of the United States by teaching things antithetical to our nation.

“Teacher” Mike Brooks is teaching his 14-year-old, middle school children that the U.S. tortures people and that it is better to be a member of “the global community” than to be an American. He is so filled with hate against the U.S.A. that he even sent a letter home to his student’s parents asking them to renounce their citizenship in the U.S.

Union Negotiates Pay Raises… For Union Chiefs

-By Warner Todd Huston

I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised when union representatives negotiate themselves bigger raises than they do for their own membership. But, it still rankles every time it happens… and it happens almost every time!

In this case it is the Broward County, Florida teacher’s union that has fenagled a higher raise for the top earners in the District than those at the lower end of the pay scale. It seems they have invented an absurdly complicated “steps” plan (there are 22 of these “steps”) where folks at the low end will forever get smaller raises than folks at the high end. Naturally, the union reps are all at the highest end of the scale.

Big surprise, eh?

Verbal blunders: Not just for kids

-By Michael M. Bates

Miss Teen South Carolina could have resorted to the typical beauty pageant ploy. You know, the one where the contestant simply restates whatever question she was asked and then shifts to a stirring call for world peace, a cure for AIDs, and an end to global warming.

But Miss Teen South Carolina was more adventurous. Asked why so many Americans can’t find the United States on a map, she started with:

“I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don’t have maps and I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and the Iraq everywhere like such. . .”

It went downhill after that. The girl’s tortuous reply made her an instant YouTube celebrity, which isn’t always good.

Modern Education a Total Failure

I don’t usually reproduce an article without detailed commentary on Publius’ Forum. But this one from the Calgary Sun is so good that I have nothing to add and certainly nothing to criticize. Suffice to say, Ted Byfeild is 100% correct that modern education is a total failure.

So, read on and enjoy this dead on commentary…

Education ‘revolution’ proved disastrous

By TED BYFIELD, the Calgary Sun

The Canadian news media, so it seems, are finally getting on to a story that broke about 50 years ago, which they missed at the time and have been missing ever since.

I know, because I was one of the reporters who missed it.

Judging by the stuff appearing of late in the national media, we are beginning to discover that our school system has been fairly well ruined by crackpot ideas, introduced in the 1950s by reformers of supposedly unchallengeable authority.

They were in fact challenged at the time by older, life-long teachers who protested that these new concepts were hair-brained, if not downright insane.

‘God’s Warriors’: CNN’s Biggest Faux Pas

-By Marie Jon’

Christiane Amanpour is a skillful manipulating propagandist. When presenting offerings like her series “God’s Warriors,” Amanpour and her ilk prove themselves to be absolutely noxious. Don’t be impressed with her many awards. “The world loves its own.” (John 15:19)

Those who willfully err to gain recognition and power ultimately find it fleeting. Only by faith in a loving God will one receive his just reward before His presence.

Another Example of Our Schools Failure

-By Warner Todd Huston

In another shining example of how our schools are becoming more and more against the principles and ideas that ARE America, we have two entire districts in Colorado refuse to accept free distributions of the U.S. Constitution for their students.

That’s right. I said FREE copies of the Constitution were turned down by two school districts.

(When) Douglas Bruce… tried last spring to give pocket- size copies of the U.S. Constitution to high-school seniors, two Colorado Springs-area districts said “no, thanks.”

Lewis-Palmer District 38 and Fountain-Fort Carson District 8 did not accept Bruce’s booklets because they said it would set a precedent for districts receiving products from the outside.

Turned him down! Imagine the stupidity of this act. These unAmerican schools turned down FREE copies of our Nation’s guiding law. The District would not have had to pay a penny for the edification of our children and they told this guy to shove it.

Chgo. Sun-Times: Pregnancies to Rise in US Colleges — It’s All Bush’s Fault

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Chicago Sun-Times is blaming the Bush administration for what they claim is sure to be a rise in unplanned pregnancies at colleges and universities across the country. It hasn’t happened yet, mind you, but they are sure it’s gonna! Naturally, the paper cannot imagine we should place any blame on the stupid students who are getting themselves pregnant. I mean, it HAS to be Bush’s fault, you see, with personal responsibility being so last century and all. No, the Sun-Times is sure that a cut in the amount of Federal money doled out to our institutions of higher learning for cheap birth control is going to wreak havoc with the student body. Our kids are obviously too stupid to get by without that government spending.

The Sun-Times, worrying that the cost of birth control available to students in colleges is going to rise, imagines a law reducing Federal spending is somehow forcing students to have unprotected sex. “Birth-control costs soaring at colleges — Pregnancies could rise now that law limits drugmaker incentives”, they proclaim. This calamity is all being blamed on the “Deficit Reduction Act signed by President Bush last year” according to the Sun-Times.

PBS: Lies Paid for by Your Taxes

-By Warner Todd Huston

Is PBS still making money off a discredited documentary that they know is filled with untruths, misquotes, and lies? It would seem so.

In 2003 PBS aired a show titled “Einstein’s Wife” that attempted to prove that Albert Einstein’s world changing theories of physics were a result of a hidden collaboration with his first wife, Mileva Maric. This documentary claimed that Maric’s work on the theory of relativity was lied about and hidden away all these years by Einstein, his biographies and history. Imagine the implications if the work of what must be the smartest woman on earth was hidden by those evil, greedy men who don’t want to share credit with a woman. It’s a feminist’s dream story promulgated by PBS.

Unfortunately it isn’t true. Not only is it not true, but also so many historians have since complained to PBS that they surely know the real truth by now, even if their original airing was a result of their honestly just not knowing the truth then. Yet, this faux documentary still has a PBS sponsored webpage and was recently aired by Australian broadcasters. PBS is also still selling DVDs and attempting to make money off a film hat has been discredited by dozens of historians and even attacked by the scientists in the film who were misquoted and misrepresented by the film’s producers.
