Bean Set to Vote Interests of Trial Lawyers Over Interest of Constituents

From the Walsh for Congress campaign…

(LAKE ZURICH, IL)– With the Obamacare legislation nearing a vote, Rep. Melissa Bean (D-8) remains intent on representing the special interests that control her political party as opposed to voting the interests of 8th district families.

Bean, who received more than $31,000 in campaign contributions from trial lawyers during her 2008 re-election campaign, is set to vote for a federal government takeover of health care that, among other things, fails to meaningfully address increasing health care costs directly attributable to frivolous lawsuits and excessive jury awards.

Obamaganda: Another School Sings Praises to Dear Leader

-By Warner Todd Huston

It’s a veritable cornucopia of Obamagandistic musical agitprop. You’ll recall the militaristic, fascist-styled Obama youth corps from 2008 where a line of inner city youth stamped out their obeisance militia-like to The One like good little automatons? Perhaps the slickly produced exploitation of sweet faced children from Hollywood that same year will ring a bell? Or maybe your favorite is this misuse of class time in Georgia? Or per chance you’ll recall “Barack Hussein Obama, mmm, mmm, mmm“? These are excellent examples of the Obama version of Leni Riefenstahl’s art.

But those? Well, those are all low class affairs done without an entire orchestra to back them up.

Now we have the brilliance of School children in Illinois, Comrade Obama’s home turf, to add to the din of young musicians enslaved to efforts to exalt Dear Leader. And this tops them all in production values — or at least in scope — for the Midwest Young Artists organization, a group dedicated to “inspiration through music,” has taken upon itself to give the Obammessiah the full orchestral treatment along with a choir and a spoken word segment to round out the production. Uncle Joe couldn’t have created a better display of fealty to Dear Leader. Kim Jong Il is likely red with envy.

How will Bean Vote for The American Death Panel?

From the Palatine Tea Party…

(Palatine, Illinois) March 10, 2010 – We the People reject this government takeover of 1/6th of our United States economy to government run healthcare which Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are proposing. The government can not run anything successfully without running deficits. Saying the healthcare bill is deficit neutral is nonsense and the American people know it. Does Bean know the will of the people which live in her district and knows what is best for our families? If so, how was it measured and by whom?

Dear America, Admit That You’re Stupid! Love, Nancy

-By Warner Todd Huston

The founding fathers debated bills for weeks. They then wrote them, referred them to committee’s of style and prose, brought them back to the floor, debated them again, wrote newspaper articles about them, went home to their districts to discuss them, and finally passed them — or not — after much deliberation.

Today’s Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi wants us to just pass a bill so that later we can “find out what is in it.”

Here’s what the zombie from San Francisco said about Obamacare today:

“You’ve heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill, one or the other. But I don’t know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future, not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America, where preventive care is not something that you have to pay a deductible for or out of pocket. Prevention, prevention, prevention–it’s about diet, not diabetes. It’s going to be very, very exciting. But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.”

Why can’t we know what’s in the bill before you pass it, Nancy? Or are you afraid that once people find out the horrors contained in this abortion of a bill they might not want it passed? In fact by nearly every accounting the American people don’t want this communist take over of one-sixth of the economy to proceed.

Of course, communists and socialists don’t care what the people have to say about anything. They, after all, know best, right? That’s why Nancy and her coven in D.C. just want us to shut up and let them pass this witch’s brew.

So let this Congress lumber forward like the living dead to pass a bill that will materially alter the relationship that citizen has to government in these great United States. Let Nancy “Fright Night” Pelosi destroy the United States as we know it…

On second thought, let’s not. Call your Congressman and Senator today and tell them you do not want this destructive bill passed in your name.

Roskam Calls for Incremental Health Reform Changes

Rep. Roskam participated in a live interview with WGN News’ Mark Suppelsa and discussed President Obama’s health reform proposal. Roskam urged the President to start over and work on a bill that focuses incrementally on cost as a way to increase access to health insurance.

Innovative Environmental Program Launched Today‏

From Congressman Peter Roskam’s office (R, DuPage County, IL)…

I wanted to let you know about a new environmental initiative my campaign is launching today. We’re launching a household battery recycling program that will make it easier for constituents to personally be good stewards of our planet. It’s the latest in a long line of innovative energy and environmentally helpful ideas and initiatives we’ve created for the community.

The battery recycling program will be a chance for private citizens to work together in a spirit of environmental stewardship that protects basic needs like our air and water supply. By providing a place where household batteries with hazardous waste material can be properly disposed, we are doing a small part to leave our planet in better shape for our kids and our grandkids.

Walsh to Bean on Health Care Vote: Vote Your District Not Your Party

From the Joe Walsh for Congress campaign…

(Lake Zurich, Illinois) – 8th District Republican congressional nominee Joe Walsh today called on his liberal Democrat opponent Rep. Melissa Bean to swallow her pride and vote “No” on the Obamacare federal takeover of health care legislation nearing a vote in the House.

“For the first time in a long time Melissa Bean needs to listen to her constituents and vote her district,” said Walsh. “A government takeover of health care is absolutely the wrong approach to fix what ails with health care in America- and 8th district voters know it. Melissa Bean was not elected to represent public sector unions and march in lockstep with her party. She was elected to represent the interests of 8th district families and support policies that speak to their very real economic insecurities. This legislation will worsen the quality of care we have access to and increase unemployment,” Walsh said.

8th District Walsh: Dirty Rangel Money Should Go to Charity Not Bean for Congress

From the Walsh for Congress campaign…

(Lake Zurich, Illinois) – Apparently, ‘I already spent it’ is a good enough reason for keeping dirty money, at least for Rep. Melissa Bean.

Bean is refusing to give back or to charity the $28,000 she received from Rep. Charlie Rangel who is under investigation from the House Ethics Committee for accepting lavish vacations from special interest groups with business before the powerful House Ways and Means committee while serving as chairman. He is also being investigated for failing to report assets, including his interest in a Dominican Republican guest unit, according to the Daily Herald.

Illinois Rep. Halvorson’s $60,000 of Dirty Rangel Money

-By Warner Todd Huston

First-term Democratic Congressman Debbie Halvorson (Ill., 14th District) was the recipient of $60,000 in political donations from the ethically compromised New York Representative Charlie Rangel, recently deposed Chairmen of the House Ways and Means Committee.

Rangel was found guilty of multiple violations of House ethics rules that have gone on for decades and because of the mess he’s made of his ethical standing the long-time New York Rep. was forced to “agree” to step aside as Ways and Means Chairman this week. But even as Rangel was busy feathering his nest the congressman was also shoveling money to other representatives in a likely bid to bribe them to look the other way from his troubled ethics.

The Washington Examiner has a great list of pols that accepted Rangel’s tainted money that it is calling the “Dirty Money Watch.” But the Examiner is missing at least one person on that list: Illinois’ Debbie Halvorson.

Halvorson took $60,000 from Charlie Rangel and her Republican challenger has called for her to return that tainted money or at least donate it to worthy charities. GOP nominee Adam Kinzinger has been calling for Halvorson to relinquish this money all week.

“This administration’s push to jam a bill that the majority of Americans oppose through reconciliation begs the question, who does this country belong to,” said Republican Nominee for Illinois 2nd District Isaac Hayes, “the people or politicians in Washington D.C.? Attorney General Lisa Madigan Punts on Important Transparency Issue

From Adam Andrzejewski, founder of For The Good Of Illinois…

On February 17th , 2010, for the first time in Illinois history, the Illinois Senate met in a secret budget meeting defined as a “joint caucus”. The Chicago Tribune editorial board used the term “probably illegal” to describe the meeting.

“The Illinois Senate used the statehouse as their personal private meeting hall, abusing the state constitution, the open meetings act, and the spirit of open and transparent Government. Discussing the severity of and solutions to the Illinois budget crisis, a topic that is negatively impacting every Illinois citizen and business, the Senate Sergeant at Arms held order and barred entry to the press under threat of arrest,” Andrzejewski related. “The people of Illinois pay for the lights, heat, building, and the salaries of the every state employee and legislator; yet, the people of Illinois were locked out of the discussion.”

Weekly Standard on Illinois Rebels

-By Warner Todd Huston

Fred Barnes, editor of the Weekly Standard published a piece that 8th District candidate Joe Walsh referenced this week. Barnes didn’t just talking about Walsh, though. Here is the except of what Barnes had to say about several other Illinois Republican “Rebels on the Right.”

The grass-roots revolt in the Illinois primaries was all the more telling because it was a near-total surprise. Ethan Hastert’s name, rather than an asset, “actually worked against him,” says a Republican official who supported him. The Chicago Tribune and the Sun-Times endorsed his opponent, Hultgren—another surprise.

For Hultgren, the key to winning was staying to the right of Hastert. “I believe we need real conservatism in Washington,” he declared. “I’m proud to call myself a real conservative.” He won, 55 percent to 45 percent. He faces Democrat Bill Foster, who won a special election after Hastert’s father resigned, in the general election on November 2.

The success of Dold in the House seat being vacated by Representative Mark Kirk “came out of nowhere,” Representative Aaron Schock of Illinois told me. Schock had endorsed the favorite, Coulson. Dold defeated Coulson, 39 percent to 30 percent, in a multiple candidate race.

Once again, the winner ran against Washington and excessive spending. Dold labeled Coulson “a Springfield insider” as a legislator and one who voted for “tax and spend” bills. As a social moderate, Dold nicely fits the district, which President Obama won with 61 percent of the vote in 2008. Kirk, by the way, won the Republican primary for the Senate seat once held by Obama.

What distinguished Walsh’s victory was the role of tea party activists. Without them, he would have had little chance of winning. After his victory—Walsh got 35 percent in a six-way race—he traveled to Nashville to speak at the National Tea Party Convention. “I ran as a tea party candidate in the primary, and I’m going to run as a tea party candidate in the general,” he said.

When Melissa Bean, the Democratic incumbent, learned that Walsh would be her opponent, she expressed relief, regarding him as the weakest of the Republicans in the primary. Her reaction was reminiscent of how pleased aides of President Carter were in 1980 when Ronald Reagan emerged as his Republican opponent. They were happy to have escaped the awesome juggernaut of a Howard Baker campaign.

Please do go on over to Barnes’ piece and read what he had to say on races in other parts of the country.

Obama Judgeship Bribery Joins Louisiana Purchase and Cornhusker Kickback

-By Warner Todd Huston

Are you a member of the U.S. House of Reps or a Senator that needs some “convincing” that selling out your constituents and implementing a socialist take over of healthcare is a good idea? Well, President Wheeler-Dealer has a deal for you.

You’ve heard of the Cornhusker Kickback where a Senator from a western state can get all sorts of freebies from the government for a “yes” vote on Obamacare?

How about that ever popular Louisiana Purchase where a nice southern lady was paid off for that “yes” vote?

Well now comes Obama’s newest backroom deal in an effort to payoff a member of Congress for a “yes” vote.

Obama has now bribed a member of Congress with a judgeship to the brother to a member of the House of Reps in hopes that he will vote “yes” on Obamacare during the now upcoming reconciliation phase of the bill.

8th District: Statement by Joe Walsh Regarding Personal Financial History

From the Walsh for Congress campaign…

Our country faces critical challenges. I’m running for Congress to address those challenges. It is incredibly disappointing to me – and to the majority of voters in the Illinois 8th Congressional District – that the news media has focused not on these issues that matter to the future of our nation, but instead has consistently sought to ridicule, demean, and condescend to anyone who tries to challenge the status quo.

The politics of personal destruction is the reason we so seldom see legitimate “change agents” running for office.

I won the Republican primary by a large margin, despite being outspent because voters identified with my message. I feel like I’m losing my country and too few we’ve sent to D.C. are doing anything about it.

Out is President Hope-n-Change, In is President Bull Hockey

-By Warner Todd Huston

What do you have to add to Obama’s own words?

Does this fool even believe a word he says?

Of course, this makes obvious that despite his braying about not being an “ideological” guy, he is precisely that, ideological. He’ll do or say anything to get his left-wing agenda passed into law including out right lie to the nation. In fact, as Obama told Diane Sawyer, he doesn’t even care if he’s only a one-term president! His socialist agenda is even more important to him than the Democrat’s victory at the polls in 2010 or even his second term in 2012.

Never thought I’d say this, but it all makes you wish for Clinton to be back. At least all HE did was lie about getting his thang on!

159 Big Sepnding, Big Government Features of Obamacare

-By Warner Todd Huston

When Obama says that his Obamacare healthcare plan isn’t a big government take over of healthcare he really is simply lying outright to the nation (well, let’s be honest, it’s not really his plan because the Democrats wrote it and he had no real input into it).

Here is a list of 159 new programs, administrative boards, and bureaucracies that the Democrat Party’s healthcare bill creates:

(PS, remember that all the tax increases starts NOW, if this bill is passed, but none of the coverage starts for four years!)

1. Grant program for consumer assistance offices (Section 1002, p. 37)
2. Grant program for states to monitor premium increases (Section 1003, p. 42)
3. Committee to review administrative simplification standards (Section 1104, p. 71)
4. Demonstration program for state wellness programs (Section 1201, p. 93)
5. Grant program to establish state Exchanges (Section 1311(a), p. 130)
6. State American Health Benefit Exchanges (Section 1311(b), p. 131)
7. Exchange grants to establish consumer navigator programs (Section 1311(i), p. 150)
8. Grant program for state cooperatives (Section 1322, p. 169)
9. Advisory board for state cooperatives (Section 1322(b)(3), p. 173)
10. Private purchasing council for state cooperatives (Section 1322(d), p. 177)
11. State basic health plan programs (Section 1331, p. 201)
12. State-based reinsurance program (Section 1341, p. 226)

22nd District State Senate: Rauschenberger Slams Democrat’s Video Gambling Law

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Daily Herald is reporting on a pointed exchange between 22nd District incumbent State Senator Mike Noland and GOP challenger Steve Rauschenberger over the Democrats reliance on revenue from video gambling to fund state pork projects.

Noland was desperately trying to make the GOP out to be the bad guys because some Republicans were for the video gambling law when it was implemented last year but now some of them are balking at the spending that Democrats want to do with the money they think they are getting from gambling.

Noland whined that “now it’s largely Republicans who are trying to create a roadblock,” to use of the money. Noland is trying to claim that state Republicans are merely trying to prevent people getting jobs from the capital bill just before an election, intimating that state jobs on Quinn’s attach would bring Democrat the votes that the GOP wants to prevent.

In reply Rauschenberger made some excellent points.

Weekly Standard Touts Joe Walsh, 8th District

From the Walsh for Congress campaign…

The Joe Walsh for Congress Campaign was recognized in this week’s Weekly Standard issue ‘Rebels on the Right.’

“In still another district near Chicago, venture capitalist Joe Walsh, 48, moved back to his hometown of Barrington to run for Congress. Republican party leaders believed Walsh would finish third in the primary to two candidates better known in the district. Walsh won.

“In these three primary elections on February 2, we saw something new. The conservative, anti-Washington, antispending backlash against President Obama and congressional Democrats had spread. It affected the outcome of Republican races. And this phenomenon has become a major factor in other Republican contests.”

Southtown Star Mad that Candidate is Against Socialism?

– By Warner Todd Huston

Southtown Star columnist Phil Kadner tried on his high dudgeon at 11th District GOP Congressional candidate Adam Kinzinger in his March 2 editorial headlined, “A different battle for Adam Kinzinger.”

Why was Kadner so upset at the 32-year-old candidate? What caused Kadner’s tsk tsking to fly? What low-end sort of campaigning evil did candidate Kinzinger perpetrate?

Well, it seems at a recent rally Kinzinger held up a T-Shirt given to him by a member of the audience. And on that T-Shirt was, *gasp*, the word “socialism” with a circle and a line through it.

That’s right, folks, Phil Kadner is upset with Republican Adam Kinzinger because the candidate held up an anti-socialism T-Shirt at a rally. Imagine, an anti-socialism T-Shirt at a tea party styled rally… with Republicans around and about… held up by a Republican candidate! And imagine any American standing against socialism! It’s just all so unheard of.

Congress? Who Needs ‘Em? Let Obama Pack the Supreme Court

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Philadelphia Inquirer published a reader feedback opinion editorial from reader Stan Isaacs that is as outlandish as it is indicative of the disregard for the American process that liberals all too often exhibit. It is proof once again that tradition, law, and any effort at legitimacy is wholly outside a liberal’s field of interest. Winning is all they care about, voters opinions and the rule of law be damned.

What sparked Mr. Isaacs’ interest is when he somehow stumbled upon the fact that the number of U.S. Supreme Court Justices is not set in stone in the Constitution. We now have nine justices but in the past have had fewer. What intrigued him is that the number of justices fluctuated because of politics. “Political issues accounted for the changes,” Isaacs gleefully reported.

In keeping with these “political issues,” Mr. Isaacs lit upon the ideal way to help Obama finally push his left-wing agenda. He advised President Obama to add three new justices to the SCOTUS, justices that will mindlessly adhere to the grand vision of the age of Obama and will rule accordingly. This is necessary, Isaacs thinks, because the court has proven an impediment to Obama’s grand socialist design. Worse, Congress has balked at Obama’s wholesale destruction of America and has resisted his attempts to turn America into a weaker, less free version of Europe. Issacs, you see, demands a recount.

Sadly, Isaacs doesn’t seem to have the first clue why Obama’s re-design of the United States hasn’t already barreled ahead unhindered. Worse, he doesn’t seem to care.

Four Key Minutes from Obama’s Failed Healthcare Summit

A great video from the Heritage Foundation that shows how the Republicans really made Obama look the fool at his healthcare summit last week.

My favorite is Louise Slaughter (D, NY) who was all upset that a women in here district was “wearing her dead sister’s teeth” because the woman could not afford dental care. But, guess what Louise? Your idiotic example is meaningless to this healthcare discussion because Obamacare DOES NOT COVER DENTISTS! Obamacare would not solve your constituent’s false teeth crisis!

Obama Signals British That They Aren’t So Special

-By Warner Todd Huston

>Barack Obama, it was claimed, would “repair” our reputation both with our enemies and our friends. So how has he done? Let’s take Britain for example. Has he “fixed” our special relationship with the British Isles? Well, if by fixed you mean he has fastened that relationship to a negative track, well then “fixed” it is.

Let’s review some of the slights that Barack Obama delivered to our closest allies, the British.

In February, immediately after he entered office, President Obama summarily rejected the most famous bust of Winston Churchill in England loaned to the U.S. for display in the Oval Office by the people of England. The bust was sent to us by the people of the U.K. as a gesture of solidarity and friendship in the aftermath of 9/11. Despite their generosity, Obama returned the generously loaned statuette without alerting the Brits that he intended to do so, blindsiding Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s government.

Ill. Congressman Shimkus Says Obamacare is ‘Socialism’

-By Warner Todd Huston

WJBD radio of downstate Salem (just east of St. Louis) reported on the Marion County Lincoln Day Dinner at which appeared Congressman John Shimkus (R, 19th District).
who told the assembled crowd that Obamacare was “a step toward socialism.”

“I just wish we could start over. We are not doing this to say don’t do anything. But we are saying let’s get a clean sheet of paper and list where we agree and lets fix those. Then we can go again and list another series,” the Congressman told WJBD.

Shimkus says Congress also needs to deal with the huge national debt that has tripled in the past few years, rising to a level that draws questions to the soundness of the government. “We have to address entitlement programs, which means addressing social security, means testing, extending the retirement age, getting a better return on the money that you have available, addressing medicare and medicaid, Shimkus said. “This health care bill takes 500-billion dollars out of medicare. Now Medicare is already going broke, how do you sustain that?”

Shimkus was the Republican that walked out of Obama’s State of the Union address late last year and has been a stalwart anti-Obamacare advocate in Congress.
