Bill Clinton Scolds CNN:’Shame on You’ for Obama Focus

-By Warner Todd Huston

If this isn’t a hoot; Bill Clinton scolding CNN (memorably termed the Clinton News Network in some circles). Apparently, CNN hasn’t shilled for Bill and Hillary enough to keep Billy from scolding CNN for bringing up recent criticism of him over his ongoing smear campaign against Senator Barack Hussein Obama.

CNN’s Jessica Yellin wasn’t gellin’ for Bill, I guess, for after a South Carolina event Bill gave his famously jabbing pointer finger some exercise with Yellin at the receiving end. “You live for this,” he said sternly as Yellin tried to ask a few questions about recent comments by former SC Dem party chairman Dick Harpootlian who said that the Clinton’s attacks on Obama were “reprehensible.”

Then Bill launched into another Right-wing-conspiracy styled theory over why CNN was asking the questions, imagining that the Obama campaign was now in charge of CNN’s editorial decisions.

“They are feeding you this because they know this is what you want to cover.” Bill yelped, adding later a “Shame on you.”

This is an amazing magic trick that the Clintons are pulling and it really shows just how naive Barack Obama is in confronting the Clinton attack machine. Seriously, Bill comes out and makes blatantly untrue statements, then has the gall to break out the mean, jabbin’ finger when someone dares to confront him with his actions (shades of “I did not have sexual relations with that woman”). And what does Obama do? Sputters about how unfair it all is but mostly just lets it all go unaddressed? What an amature.

Here is the CNN video of this amazing display of Clinton’s chutzpah and brazenness.

Bill is a piece of work, ain’t he? Barack better learn that they are in it for the kill. It ain’t bean-bag, Mr. Obama, for the Clintons it’s a blood sport.

ESPN’s Dana Jacobson Suspended Over Drunken Rant

-By Warner Todd Huston

As I reported earlier, Dana Jacobson was a guest roaster at an Atlantic City, NJ ESPN event for the Mike & Mike show on the 12th. She was supposed to be offering a comedic “roast” of show hosts Mike Golic and Mike Greenburg, but instead offered a profanity laced, drunken rant when it came her turn at the dais during which she blurted out “F**k Jesus.”

Well, it looks like the folks at ESPN weren’t amused because Jacobson has been suspended for her outrageous comments.ESPN benches Jacobson

Sources have confirmed that Jacobson, a co-host of “First Take” on ESPN2, currently is serving a one-week suspension because of her behavior at a Jan. 11 roast for ESPN Radio personalities Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic at Atlantic City, N.J.

She’s really sorry, though.

In a statement, Jacobson said, “I am sorry. My remarks about Notre Dame were foolish and insensitive. I respect all religions and did not mean anything derogatory by my poorly chosen words. I also deeply regret the embarrassment I’ve caused ESPN and Mike and Mike.

“My actions at the roast were inappropriate and in no way represent who I am. I won’t make excuses for my behavior, but I do hope I can be forgiven for such a poor lack of judgment.”

It’s good to see that some standards of conduct are being upheld somewhere in the media.

Reported Bush Lied ‘Study’ Not Revealed as Funded By George Soros

-By Warner Todd Huston

With Video posted at end of story…

Well, the AP has done it again. They have given us leftist propaganda and painted it as news. This time they have published the results of a “study” that claims that “Bush lied” in the run up to the actions in Iraq and somehow the AP forgot to mention that the organization that released this study was funded by the extreme leftist George Soros who has spent billions funding the Democrat Party and many far left think tank and advocacy organizations. Yeah, THAT study is going to be legitimate!

This one may as well have been just a reprint of the press release of the Soros funded Center for Public Integrity, but the AP dressed it up as an actual story written by Douglass K. Daniel. Headlined “Study: False statements preceded war,” the AP reveals how, “A study by two nonprofit journalism organizations found that President Bush and top administration officials issued hundreds of false statements about the national security threat from Iraq in the two years following the 2001 terrorist attacks.”

What AP forgets to mention is that the “two nonprofit journalism organizations” can hardly be imagined to be impartial. The Center for Public Integrity (CPI) is funded by well-known leftist, George Soros, as well as the Streisand Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the Los Angeles Times Foundation — all of which are exclusively left in political philosophy. Even more ridiculously, the second of these “non-profit journalism organizations” shares most of its board members with the first. So, the Fund for Independence in Journalism can hardly be considered a separate entity from the CPI.

The AP merely spews the claims form this study as if they are real news, but much of the APs story is disingenuous as is the “study.”

“It is now beyond dispute that Iraq did not possess any weapons of mass destruction or have meaningful ties to al-Qaida,” according to Charles Lewis and Mark Reading-Smith of the Fund for Independence in Journalism staff members, writing an overview of the study. “In short, the Bush administration led the nation to war on the basis of erroneous information that it methodically propagated and that culminated in military action against Iraq on March 19, 2003.”

Two things here. First, few people now think Saddam had WMDs, of course. But nearly everyone thought he had them before we went into Iraq — including the leadership of every nation on the planet as well as Saddam’s own generals. So, it was not a “lie” if it was commonly thought to be true by nearly every head of state in the world. That saddam had WMDs may have been a mistaken notion, but it was not a lie before it was known for sure!

Secondly, it is interesting that this “study” claims that Bush “lied” about links with al-Qaida. Yet even they have to massage that claim of a lie into “meaningful ties to al-Qaida.” This means that even they are admitting that there are ties with al-Qaida but that they aren’t “meaningful.”

Does that mean the “lie” is not that the ties exist but how “meaningful” they are? Instead of a lie we are squabbling over semantics. In essence, Bush DIDN’T lie about ties to al-Qaida, the is just a debate on how “meaningful” those ties are.

In these very first two instances, Bush’s “lies” turn out not to be lies at all.

What for Federalism With Thompson’s Loss?

-By Warner Todd Huston

The question many of us dreaded is upon us. Fred Thompson has shown he cannot capture enough primary victories in his race for the White House. This brings us to a seminal question; what does Fred Thompson’s withdrawing from the race — or his irrelevancy to it — mean for the conservative cause? Even more specifically, what does it mean for the concept of Federalism? There is only one answer possible and it is one none of us want to hear. It means that, for the foreseeable future and for all intents and purposes the concept of Federalism in particular and the conservative agenda in general are more or less back burner issues in Washington D.C.

Now, I am not saying that no conservative issues will ever again win the day in D.C. I am also not saying that we conservatives should pack our bags and go home. Staying in the fight is absolutely a must for sure. But winning in the big game by taking the White House, or leading the cause from out in front is seemingly out of the question for now. Unfortunately, we are nearly back to a similar situation as the conservative movement was in1979, a day when conservatism was barely able to gather enough forces to win at small issues in Congress and in the national debate. Only, this time, there will be no Ronald Reagan poised to lead the charge.

Fred Thompson was the last chance we will see for a very long time for a president that is a traditional, conservative, principled American presidential candidate. We will see from this point on candidates who are far more socialist than conservative with their base ideological philosophy. Sure they will pretend at being conservative, but they will not be and their records will prove it.

Candidates like the center, left Mitt Romney and Rudly Giuliani will be the norm for the GOP because it will be assumed both by pundits and political campaign operatives that the strictly conservative candidate is doomed to lose. No one of Reagan’s basic small government principles will be able to run for the White House for a very long time with Thompson’s bowing out.

Thompson to Drop Presidential Bid

Carl Cameron reports that Thompson is calling it quits…

Thompson to Drop Presidential Bid

Fred Thompson plans to drop his presidential bid, FOX News learned Tuesday.

Thompson has begun calling friends, family members and supporters to tell them his campaign is over. He left Nashville Tuesday afternoon for McLean, Va., where he is expected to make an announcement about his campaign as early as Tuesday night.

The former Tennessee senator and actor has not won any early primary or caucus contests and finished third in the South Carolina primary Saturday.

Is this the end of a conservative Republican Party?

It sure seems so since none of the other candidates are conservative.

American Idol Contestant Mocked for Christian Beliefs by Idol Host

-By Warner Todd Huston

Now, I have never seen this show, so you’ll have to excuse me if I am misunderstanding the whole American Idol “thing,” OK? As I seem to recall, the deal is that you sing for a washed up 80s pop star, a fat guy no one ever heard of and some English dude and they rate you on your talent. Right? Or is it that they are supposed to rate you on your sex life and moral beliefs? Because, it seems that host Ryan Seacrest has given some unwanted “advice” to a recent contestant that offered that at 19 he’d never kissed a girl. In response, Seacrest told him to “go kiss some girls,” and hoped that once he came back to audition again he’d “come back less a boy and more a man.” This did not amuse contestant Bruce Dickson who says the reason he’d never kissed a girl was because of his Christian moral convictions.

So, is being a Christian with closely held moral convictions now a disqualifying thing to be a proper contestant on TV’s American Idol? If Seacrest has anything to say about it, it would seem so.

CNSnews is reporting the outrageous mocking of Dickson’s religious morals.

When the 19-year-old from Bastrop, Texas, was asked to share something about himself, he said he’d never kissed a girl.

“What?” Randy Jackson asked. “On purpose?”

“On purpose,” Dickson said. “I want to save everything for that one special woman. On my wedding day, that will be my first kiss.”

Jackson’s advice to Dickson after the judges sent him packing: “Go kiss some girls.”

Simon Cowell, eyebrows raised, told him cryptically: “Avoid Ryan (Seacrest) on the way out.”

Seacrest himself ended the segment featuring Dickson with these words: “Maybe next year he’ll come back less a boy and more a man.”

Is this what a singer on American Idol signs up for? Somehow I doubt that Seacrest would make so much fun of a girl that told them she had been with 20 guys by the time she was 19.

For his part, Bruce Dickson is standing true to his principles. He told CNSnews that,“a real man would rather wait than just do whatever with whoever.”

Good for him not to let these immoral, blowhards to shake him from his ideals.

Of course, we all know that this is an attack on both Christianity and homeschooling.

Dickson said his family is Christian and attends a non-denominational church. He and his siblings are home-schooled. Dickson did attend two Christian schools in high school so that he could play sports. He was crowned homecoming king in his senior year at Vacaville High School, in Vacaville, Calif.

1971 Redux

-By Thomas E. Brewton

We’re heading back to the disaster of President Nixon’s Keynesian economics of price controls, rampant deficit spending, and punishing inflation.

As asserted frequently on this website, Federal deficit spending is not a cure for economic recessions and unemployment; it’s a cause thereof.

The January 18, 2008, Wall Street Journal editorial page elaborates further.

Our current economic slowdown was triggered by the housing bubble and the subprime mortgage meltdown. Neither would have occurred without continuous Federal deficit spending funded by the Fed’s creation of fiat money with bookkeeping entries.

Politicians’ Keynesian proposals for tax rebates and emergency spending will have the effect of pouring gasoline on a fire in the expectation that doing so will quench the flames. A temporary upsurge in economic activity may result, but it will leave the economy with still uncleared bad debts and excess inventories of houses and other goods. Inflation will inevitably increase, leaving people’s savings and other assets worth less than before.

Recessions occur when production in excess of real underlying demand can no longer be floated on excess money availability. When that happens, businesses find themselves with costs out of line with what the market will pay for their goods.

Prices of goods have to be cut (witness the sharp declines in prices of new and old homes) in order to clear out excess inventories. To bring costs down low enough to make a profit at the new lower market prices, businesses have to lay off excess workers and cut wages and other costs.

Liberals’ Plan to Stimulate Inflation

-By Thomas E. Brewton

Liberals propose to follow the same game plan that gave us stagflation in the 1970s.

As success with the military surge in Iraq increasingly belies their claim that the war is already irretrievably lost, liberals have changed the subject from Iraq to the economy and the rising possibility of a recession. Liberal Republicans and Democrats, as usual, prescribe Federal deficit spending and higher taxes on “the rich.”

That is the doctrine of Keynesian economics, which advocates consumer spending as the exclusive highway to full employment and prosperity. According to Keynes, consumer and business savings must be offset by massively increased Federal spending. What the money is spent for doesn’t matter; just flood the market with money created by bookkeeping entries at the Federal Reserve banks.

Keynesian economics failed to end the Depression. Its repetition, as we saw in the bitter experience of Great Society stagflation in the 1970s, discouraged investment in projects of long term value and led to speculations that promised high rates of return in the short-run.

For example, during the 1970s stagflation, is was only marginally profitable to build rental apartments, because the rate of return on those investments was far below the inflation rate. What occurred, instead, was an unprecedented boom in hotel construction, because room rates could be increased every day. By 1980, there was a shortage of rental apartments and an oversupply of hotels.

In the real world, the only road to non-inflationary economic growth is lower taxes, offset by reduced Federal spending, grounded on a stable currency.

Non-inflationary economic growth is not a product of consumer spending. It must be funded by business and consumer savings. Consumers who save will not max out credit cards and add to inflationary pressures. Businesses that save will make long-term capital investment in higher productivity that enables increased production of useful goods and services at lower cost. That higher productivity makes possible higher wages and an improved standard of living for everyone.

AP Talks MLK’s Forgotten ‘Complexity’ Forgets his Plagiarism & Communist Ties

-By Warner Todd Huston

On the national holiday that celebrates the birth of famed civil rights activist Martin Luther King, Jr., the AP decided to remind us all that there was more to King than the popularized view of him affords. AP says that it is a shame that King has been “frozen in a moment in time that ignores the full complexity of the man and his message.” Who can disagree with this? After all, very often notable historical figures end up being turned into cardboard cartoons known for that one “frozen moment” in history that made them famous. But, even as the AP argues that we should learn more about the whole of MLK’s life and take a more measured look at his life and works, the AP itself whitewashes several aspects of his real life. AP never mentions, for instance, his ties with communists nor do they mention that he had a life long record of plagiarizing, most notably with his doctoral thesis. They don’t mention his distrust of capitalism nor his support of the concept of special treatment and quotas, an idea that strays from his acclaimed position of “equal” treatment. So, the AP may want us to avoid putting Dr. King “on a pedestal of perfection,” but it is also a fact that they only want us to know some of King’s real record instead of all of it as they claim.

The AP has taken the occasion of King’s holiday celebration to remind us all that the eeevil government was wary of him toward the end of his life, to tell us that “by taking on issues outside segregation, he had lost the support of many newspapers and magazines, and his relationship with the White House had suffered.”

Yes, it is definitely true that King was not the universally loved character that he has been mythologized as today. And, we really should take the time to learn more about our famous American historical figures, just as the AP advises us to do. So, let’s look a bit at some of King’s warts to balance the gauzy portrait we are used to seeing.

Now let us be clear right off the top, here. King’s whole record — even that with which many of us will thoroughly disagree — does not detract from the salient fact that he was a seminal leader in bringing the U.S. out of its racial oppression. His leadership was transformational for shining the light of liberty upon a segment of the country that was held back by ignorant custom and racial hatred. But, just as the AP urges, his whole life’s record really should be known so that we can take a full measure of the man.

Let us start with the fact that Dr. King had a long record of plagiarizing his work starting with his doctoral dissertation from Boston University. As reported in 1991, a Boston University investigation concluded that King had plagiarized much of his dissertation. “King included in his dissertation a good deal of material taken verbatim from a variety of other sources without proper attribution (or any attribution at all), an act which constitutes plagiarism by any reasonable academic standard.”

Time Mag Revives ‘Discovery’ of Christ’s ‘Tomb’ Story

-By Warner Todd Huston

In 2006, movie mogul James Cameron lent his name to a “documentary” detailing the “discovery” of the tomb of Jesus Christ and his family. The film was widely panned by archaeologists, Christians, Jews and non-believers alike and the evidence of the find has been shown to be highly suspect. But, this doesn’t seem to bother Time Magazine as the monthly is reviving the story once again in Jesus ‘Tomb’ Controversy Reopened, a story by Tim McGirk. Naturally, the entire article is written from the perspective of those who take the anti-Christian position on the story and Christians are presented as rejecting the “find” merely out of blind belief while those supporting the interpretation of the find as that of Jesus’ final resting place are presented as serious scientists and academicians.

Catch this first paragraph:

When the Discovery Channel aired a TV documentary last year raising the possibility that archeologists had found the family tomb of Jesus Christ in the hills behind Jerusalem, it caused a huge backlash among Christians. The claim, after all, challenged one of the cornerstones of Christian faith — that Jesus, after his crucifixion, rose bodily to heaven in his physical form.

Here we see Time setting the stage to lead readers to believe that Christians are only against the claims because it would challenge the “cornerstones of Christian faith.” Time follows this line of discussion for nearly the entire article, giving only scant exposure to some of the many substantive issues that a host of people from a myriad of disciplines find standing in the way of believing that this is the tomb of Jesus Christ. One easily comes away from the article thinking that people who are against the claims are only against them because they are closed minded religious zealots.

In truth, there are so many problems with this story that few really believe the case for this find being the tomb of Christ and his family. (For a nicely detailed article presenting the problematic evidence connected with this find, see “Jesus’ tomb found” claim as empty as Jesus’ [real] tomb) Strangely, this Time article only revives the mythical claims of the tomb find without really going into any of the problems with the evidence. Out of the whole article, we only get this one bit of the proof against the claim:

Unions Fighting Property Tax Cuts

-By Warner Todd Huston

Wouldn’t it be nice to get a break on your property taxes? Florida’s Governor Crist is trying to give the folks there just that with his Amendment 1 plan that will see a five-year, $9.3 billion property tax reduction to homeowners. But, guess who is against if. Yep, it’s unions.

Apparently AFSCME and the AFL-CIO aren’t too happy with the tax cut. And, it isn’t just unions in Florida, either. Apparently, unions from outside the state are poking their nose into the state’s politics.

Behind the uniformed army of public servants fighting Amendment 1 are lesser-known but powerful labor organizations, such as the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and the national and state chapters of the AFL-CIO.

AFSCME donated $100,000 and the group claims 1.4 million members nationwide. The state chapter claims more than 110,000 active members, with seven regional offices and a professional staff of 33.

Another labor group, the Service Employees International Union, or SEIU, claims 1.9 million members in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. It gave $200,000. Teachers unions, through either the Florida Education Association or the Florida Public Education Defense Fund, gave more than $400,000.

The AFL-CIO, both the state and national, gave about $2,000 in in-kind donations.

So, national union organizations are flooding money into the state to defeat a proposal that will save the tax payers money.

What is it that unions always claim? That they are for the “little guy”?

I guess the unions don’t feel that the “little guy” should have their bloated taxes cut so that they can afford to won a home!

Yep, it’s great that these caring unions are out there tryin’ to help all them “little guys,” isn’t it?

Conservatives: THINK!

-By Israel Teitelbaum

When I attended the United Lubavitcher Yeshiva, on Bedford Avenue corner Dean Street, Brooklyn, in the 1950’s, there was a sign on the wall that read “THINK.” I used to wonder what it meant, and over the years it has taken on more meaning. It becomes ever more apparent that there are actually people out there who don’t think. They allow others to do their thinking for them. While we “Conservatives” always believed that “Liberals” don’t think. Now I’m beginning to have some doubts.

It’s becoming very frustrating to listen to my favorite talk show hosts as they constantly lament the onslaught of the Left. I’m pained by their refusal to address the core issue, from whence the Left derives its ill-gotten power.

Clearly, we no longer have a government of, by and for the People. We have local, state and federal government controlled by the largest conglomerate the world has ever seen – a monopoly that goes by the name of the National Education Association, and affiliates, with a standing political army of 3,000,000, plus friends and family.

Conservatives have handed them everything, including our children, on the mistaken claim that the 10th Amendment prevents Congress from passing what the Civil Rights Act of 1964 left out – Equal Educational Opportunity. This legislation would provide for equitable educational funding for children in public and non-public schools, while respecting schools’ liberty in hiring and provision of services. It would break the NEA monopoly on the nation’s education system, culture and government, and force them to compete with parents and private enterprise. This would result in improved quality and efficiency of both education and government.

While the 10th Amendment prevents the Federal Government from involvement in matters not assigned to the Feds in the U.S. Constitution, the right of parents to raise their own children, without government interference, is clearly protected in the Constitution. This issue needs to be publicly debated now, while our votes are being counted!

Please see the following press release and feel free to contact or interview any of those involved in the effort to sponsor the Civil Rights Act for Equal Educational Opportunity. See contact information below.

All the best.

Senator Obama: Repudiate Black Muslim Bigot Farrakhan and Black Preacher Wright!

-By Don Boys, Ph.D.

This week, Obama was forced to repudiate Black Muslim Louis (“Judaism is a gutter religion”) Farrakhan, but has refused to repudiate his pastor and leave his racist church, Trinity United Church of Christ. Inquiring minds, of all parties, want to know why he continues to support racism. Don’t you think Romney would be asked why he remained a Mormon if they still preached and practiced polygamy? Wouldn’t reporters ask Huckabee why he remained a Baptist if his church still refused to admit Blacks? Then why the soft glove treatment for Obama?

Senator Obama’s home church declares they are “unapologetically Christian” and I have no problem with that, although I question whether that is true since their website is about race, not religion. However, my question is, “If you folk at Trinity are Christian then why have a nut case like Black Muslim Louis Farrakhan on the cover of the Trumpet Newsmagazine, the church’s publication? In an interview with Farrakhan by Roda McKiney-Jones, Pastor Wright is quoted as saying, “When Minister Farrakhan speaks, Black America listens.” True, but usually out of his mouth spews bias, bigotry, babbling, bombast, or blasphemy—and blackness ad nauseam.

As a young man, Farrakhan dropped out of college and found work in nightclubs as a calypso guitarist-singer known as “Calypso Gene,” also known by some as “Calypso Louie.” He recorded an original song, “A White Man’s Heaven is a Black Man’s Hell.” In March 2000, the Philadelphia Inquirer quoted Farrakhan saying, “White people are potential humans … they haven’t evolved yet.” Farrakhan is a white hating, America hating, and Christian hating racist promoted by Trinity United Church of Christ! Question: Senator, how can you justify remaining a member of a church with such loose convictions that promotes bigotry without blushing?

A Focus on Ignorance in Nevada

-By Frank Salvato

During the recent primary debate between Democrat presidential hopefuls in Nevada, one of the more credible pollsters, Frank Luntz, convened a focus group of undecided Democrats. As the debate progressed each focus group member’s approval or disapproval – their “feelings” – on each of the candidate’s statements was noted. What Mr. Luntz’s focus group actually recorded was proof positive of the Left’s constitutional illiteracy.

In all the years that I have been politically aware, I have never witnessed a group of people so completely ignorant of not only the issues and our nation’s geopolitical situation, but of how our government works. This became über-evident when the total of the group blamed the Executive Branch of our government – and President Bush in particular – for producing “tax-cuts for the rich” and for aiding “big oil” in their pursuit of corporate welfare.

One of the most basic, the most elementary components in federal government is the assignment of powers and responsibilities among its three branches. The Executive Branch is charged with the execution of the day-to-day management of the country. Under the constitutional doctrine of the separation of powers, the Executive Branch is neither supposed to make laws nor interpret them. These two roles are reserved for the Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch, respectively.

This being understood, why did each and every one of the undecided Democrats in Frank Luntz’s Nevada focus group blame President Bush for things that only Congress has the authority to enact?

ESPN’s Dana Jacobson’s Drunken Rant: ‘F**K Jesus’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Back on January 12th, the pressofatlanticcity.com reported on the aftermath of an event sponsored by ESPN morning talkers “Mike & Mike” in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The event, an 8th anniversary celebration in a roast style comedy show of the two hosts, Mike Golic and Mike Greenburg, was deemed “too long and uneven” by staff writer Scott Cronick, but the interesting thing is what he apparently left out about the drunken appearance by ESPN’s Dana Jacobson. It seems Jacobson was so drunk that her “comedy routine” included the always funny “f**k Jesus” but the press isn’t saying a word about this outrageous gaff.

The pressofatlanticcity.com reports that Jacobson was so drunk she was booed off the stage.

ESPN anchor Dana Jacobson made an absolute fool of herself, swilling vodka from a Belvedere bottle, mumbling along and cursing like a sailor as Mike & Mike rested their heads in their hands in embarrassment. (Comedian Eddie) Griffin came to the podium to defend her after she was booed by the crowd. Ross eventually had to pull her off stage, too.

Sounds embarrassing, of course. But what wasn’t reported is what Jacobson said to get “booed by the crowd.”

According to a report by someone in attendance at the event, Dana Jacobson said the following:

“f**k Notre dame”
“f**k touchdown Jesus”
and – the step-aside-because-lightning-is-about-to-strike… “f**k Jesus.”

So, one has to wonder why it is that she has been let off the hook by the media for saying “f**k Jesus” and for her otherwise drunken appearance? Let’s keep an eye on this to see if her anti-Christian rant becomes even more of an embarrassment for her, but since she attacked Jesus, it is quite doubtful that it will.

Most likely, she will be given a pass. After all, it’s not like she said f**k Allah, or f**k Jesse Jackson, right? After all, we should be used to the double standard that Christians are OK to attack, I suppose.

Senator Obama: Can He be Trusted to be President?

-By Don Boys, Ph.D.

Senator Obama’s speeches, books, and life story are little more than falsehoods, fraud, and fantasy, so a cynic might say that he is qualified to be president! He doesn’t seem to believe that a half-truth is a whole lie.

Obama reveals in his book, Dreams from my Father that for two years he attended a Muslim school in Indonesia: “In the Muslim school, the teacher wrote to tell my mother that I made faces during Koranic studies.” Therefore, Obama, known at the time as Barry, admitted that he went to a Muslim school; however, CNN debunked the part about it being a radical madrassa school funded by extremists from Saudi Arabia. (Furthermore, it is not true that he took his oath of office on the Koran.) While living in Indonesia from age 6 to 10, he attended a Catholic school two years in addition to two years in a Muslim school.

Whether or not Obama was, is, or will become a Muslim is hotly contested. His campaign on Jan. 24, 2007 said, “To be clear, Senator Obama has never been a Muslim, was not raised a Muslim, and is a committed Christian who attends the United Church of Christ in Chicago.” Well, that is a clear statement but it is a misleading statement.

The Los Angeles Times, in its March 14, 2007 issue reported that Obama was a registered Muslim and attended weekly religious instruction in the Koran. Now his campaign is saying that he has never been a “practicing” Muslim. Let’s see, on Jan. 24 the story from his campaign was that he had never been a Muslim and he was not raised a Muslim, but now, it is that he has never been a practicing Muslim. It all depends on what the meaning “is” is!

As nasty as an afternoon tea party

-By Michael M. Bates

The Democrats are really going after one another now. It’s bare knuckles, brass knuckles, brawling, malicious, vicious, brutal, vitriolic. The contest may even border on – dare I say it? – mean spirited.

At least that’s the storyline dished out by the mainstream media. Democratic presidential candidates Clinton and Obama have reached new levels of enmity in their attacks.

That’s laughable. For one thing, the Clintons and their surrogates specialize in speaking vaguely, leaving room for plausible denial. They’ll say something like we know what Obama was doing in the hood back in the day. When someone asks, why are you bringing up his drug use? the answer is no, that’s not what we were talking about. You misinterpreted what was said.

Barack Obama dwells on fuzzy, feel good promises of hope and change. After his Iowa victory, he told supporters that hope insists “that something better awaits us if we have the courage to reach for it and to work for it and to fight for it.” But what precisely is that something better? And is that something better something that all of us will consider something better?

Me thinks there is a method to his madness

-By Dan Scott

It is hard to view world events, specifically the actions of Iran, and not conclude the leaders of Iran are insane. Why would they deliberately provoke potential military action by the US in view of what happened to Saddam in Iraq? Why are they still busily enriching uranium? Surely they recognize if the US decided to take military action, the outcome would not be in doubt. So why is Iran playing this game of brinksmanship?

Why take 15 British military personnel hostage, thus inviting a military response? Is it because they think nothing will come of it? Why is Iran engaging in provocative behavior with their speed boats near US Naval Ships in the Straights of Hormuz? Why is Iran ramping up supply of IEDs again in Iraq?

This is not the first time the Iranians have done this either. Given the British weak or less than robust response, one comes to the conclusion that the Iranians knew this would be result. Watching the Iranian’s actions toward, the British, the US or the UN reminds me of a dithering parent not able to maintain their parental authority or in this case respect of an unruly child. As any seasoned parent of children realizes, the child is testing the borders of how far they can go. A child’s internal personal self worth and security is determined by the firm boundaries a parent sets. In fact, when a child can not find the boundaries of parental authority, the child goes completely wild to their own detriment. One only needs to look to juvenile delinquency to see this. In Iran’s case, just as Saddam’s Iraq before them, they are testing the boundaries of international resolve. Saddam became wild and unruly precisely because he was allowed to misbehave too long.

Barack Obama: Questions Reporters Dare Not Ask!

-By Don Boys, Ph.D.

I admit to bias: Liberals should be suspect even when quoting the multiplication tables, so that is why I am suspicious of most of the presidential candidates of both parties and especially suspicious of Senator Barack Obama. Voters should demand some answers from him but I’m afraid they won’t get the answers because reporters are too uninformed or too cowardly to ask!

Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii to Stanley (yes that is correct) Ann Dunham from Kansas who moved to Hawaii and there married Muslim, Barack Obama, Sr. a black student from Kenya. He had left his pregnant wife back in Kenya to care for their son and soon-to-be-born baby. He was also a bigamist. Obama’s dad, true to form, left his wife and two-year-old Obama to work on a Ph.D. at Harvard. He returned to Kenya to take a lucrative government job and another wife. He ended up fathering eight children by four different women, not all could be counted as wives.

Obama’s white mother then married Lolo Soetoro, an Indonesian Muslim student at the University of Hawaii who moved the family to Indonesia when Obama was six. After his drinking and womanizing stepfather died, the family moved back to Hawaii when Obama was in the fifth grade. During those years, Obama lived in nice neighborhoods and attended the best schools until he was graduated from high school.

Barack Obama is a member of Trinity United Church of Christ that has ten black staff members! All seven writers for the church’s Trumpet Newsmagazine are black. The pastor is Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. who baptized Obama into the church 20 years ago. The United Church of Christ was formed by the 1957 merger of the Congregational Christian Churches and the Evangelical and Reformed Church; it is probably the most liberal mainline denomination in the U.S.

6th Open Letter to the Candidate I’d Vote for

-By Vince Johnson

Dear Candidate for President of the United States: (Either party)

Last week you announced that your next conference would be held near Jamestown, Virginia where you would discuss changes you would advocate in our Foreign Policy. Here’s the speech I’d like to hear:

“Since the end of World War II, America’s foreign policy has been more confusing than it has been successful. Example: America has repeatedly told the world we were concerned about the “domino effect” regarding the spread of communism into North Korea and Vietnam. This totally ignores a reality known as Cuba which succumbed to Communistic rule in 1959. There is no reasonable explanation why Communist nations several thousand miles away were regarded as a greater threat to America than another Communist nation only a few miles from Florida. (Havana is 106 miles from Key West and Hanoi is 7,560 miles from Los Angeles.)

“The total of American lives lost in the Korean and Vietnam wars is 95,083! This is a horrible reality all Americans have to live with. The 2007 CIA World Fact Book classifies North Vietnam, North Korea and Cuba as Communist States. These are the same classifications North Korea and Vietnam had before all those lives were lost several decades ago. America did nothing when Cuba adopted communism in 1959. In 1961, Cuban exiles trained by Americans in Florida were involved in an invasion that failed miserably at the Bay of Pigs. North Korea and Vietnam are still communistic states and Cuba was added to the list after the Korean War and prior to the war in Vietnam! Our record in foreign affairs does not work. It must be changed while there is still time to do it.

I Want To Be A Progressive

-By Nancy Morgan

I am a practicing Christian, but lately I’ve been giving serious thought to becoming a secular progressive. The advantages of adopting this popular mindset are becoming more attractive every day.

Consider: As a Christian, one does the right thing, even when no one is looking. As a progressive, I can get public recognition, peer approval and moral points for my intentions. No need to actually do any heavy lifting. Very cool.

As a secular progressive I won’t have to worry about guilt or wrestle with moral dilemmas. I can now cheat on my mate and remain guilt free by merely purchasing credits from CheatNeutral. I don’t have to worry about recycling, polluting the earth or being an energy hog – I’ll just buy some offsetting ‘carbon credits’ from Al Gore’s firm. If I decide to have a baby out of wedlock, I’ll gain sympathy and government assistance instead of shame. There’s also a possibility Nickelodeum will do a ‘pregnancy special’, just like Jamie Lynn Spears.

Progressives have a very, well, progressive way of dealing with the messy issue of sin and guilt. My favorite is a very public apology (multiple times…depending on severity of offense) followed by a month in rehab to demonstrate sincerity. This route has the added advantage of accruing extra points for ‘courage’ and ‘insight’, to say nothing of media face time. Now, I am cleansed and free to sin again. Progressives are nothing if not forgiving. (Unless you’re a white Christian male.)

ACLU Stops Bible Distribution in After School/Lunch Break Periods

-By Warner Todd Huston

In their continued efforts to destroy religion in America, the ACLU has won another loathsome victory against the free expression of religion. The AP reports that a rural school district near St. Louis, MO can no longer allow representatives of Gideons International to give away Bibles to fifth-graders during after school periods or during their lunch break periods.

For more than three decades, the South Iron School District in Annapolis, 120 miles southwest of St. Louis in the heart of the Bible Belt, allowed representatives of Gideons International to give away Bibles in fifth-grade classrooms.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed suit two years ago on behalf of four sets of parents. In August, a three-judge panel of the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a temporary injunction against the practice.

The district altered its policy, saying the Gideons and others were still welcome to distribute Bibles or other literature before or after school or during lunch break, but not in classrooms.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Catherine Perry ruled both practices were illegal and granted a permanent injunction.

Naturally the ACLU claims that any vestige of Christianity in or near a school means that the poor kiddies are being FORCED to become slaves to Christianity. Sadly, they never take cases trying to stop Islam from being forced on our school kids proving that the ACLU only wants to destroy Christians and that they aren’t the least bit interested in any issue like “religion in schools.”

The school district is going to appeal these anti-religious judges’ decision. Let’s hope they are successful.

Stealing From All to Give Freebies to Grandma

-By Warner Todd Huston

Or, how government is licensed theft.

Here is a perfect example of the destructive power of government. It is also a representative example of why it is a canard that government ever gives anything away for “free” as that so-called free gift inflicts pain on everyone under that government. In this tale Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has pulled a fast one on the people of Illinois. He’s agreed to a plan that hikes a tax that few people even know the existence of and he’s added his own layer of cost just to get old people in the city of Chicago to like him. In pandering to this tiny minority he’s skewered the entire state in general and the people of the six counties surrounding the people’s republic of Chicago in particular.

At issue is the bail out of Chicago’s mass transit system. Naturally, being a normal government program, it is a money losing, disorganized, union bloated, den of corruption and waste, but the leaders in the state capitol of Springfield (no better name for the comedy going on there than “Springfield,” just like the town in the cartoon “The Simpsons”) felt it necessary to infuse state funds into the backwards and failing transit system in Chicago. So, the state legislature came up with a bailout plan and sent it to the Governor to sign.

Upon reaching his desk, Governor Blagojevich decided to add his own tragiocomic aspect to this government fiasco through an amendatory veto. He decreed that henceforth all old folks will ride the CTA in Chicago for “free.” The great white Father has waved his magic wand and now all the old folk in the city have a new perk merely for having reached their golden years without becoming bedridden. No bus and train fares for grandma from here on out. Hoorah for the nanny state.

So, how the heck do we pay for the estimated 10 million dollars a year this “free” give away to the elderly will cost the CTA to provide? Why we will raise the real estate transfer taxes on the sale of the old folks’ homes, that’s how. This transfer tax is going to go from $7.50 per thousand dollars of the final selling price to $10.50 per thousand. Not to mention a sales tax hike and numerous other tax hikes.

Some “free” program!

Worse, this “free” ride for grandma will be doled out to anyone over retirement age quite regardless of whether that citizen can afford to pay their own way or not. That means the poorest citizens get a free ride right alongside the richest. Does that make any sense at all? I thought Democrats were only supposed to be for the “poor”?

The Race for the American Mind

By Selwyn Duke

Last year’s scamnesty bill had widespread support among the powers-that-be, with the president, the Democrat majority and mainstream media all singing its praises. Yet it went down to defeat, slain by a new-media coalition of talk radio and blogosphere warriors. Working tirelessly to expose the truth and rally the grassroots, they became a David who slew a Goliath.

Forty-three years ago it was a different world. Ted Kennedy had co-authored the “Immigration Reform Act of 1965,” which created a situation wherein 85 percent of our immigrants hail from the Third World and Asia. He took to the Senate floor, claimed his brainchild wouldn’t change the demographic composition of the nation and passed the culture-rending bill under the cover of darkness.

This darkness was not absence of light but that of truth; it was a media blackout. With no Internet and little talk radio, mainstream journalists had a monopoly over the hearts and minds of America. And they knew best. The little people didn’t have to worry their pretty little heads about actions that would forever alter the face of the nation.

This is why the old media fears the new one. The latter watches the watchers, polices the police. It has cut into the Rathersphere’s market, causing a diminution of circulation, viewership and – this is what really gets their collars up – power. They can no longer propagandize with Tass-like impunity, for the e-hills have eyes.

Phony Economics

-By Thomas E. Brewton

Liberals implicitly acknowledge that the so-called budget-balancing of the Clinton era was based on subterfuge and outright lie.

The Wall Street Journal editorial page notes the passing of one aspect of the sanctimonious liberal-progressive blather about fiscal prudence during the Clinton administrations (see Rubinomics R.I.P.)

I disagree strongly with the Journal’s insouciance about Federal deficits. Those deficits inescapably lead to inflation. The only question is how high inflation will be in any given year.

Despite what the Journal writes, interest rates are not the same thing as inflation rates. Interest rates can decline in periods of budget deficits induced by lower taxes. But, if the Federal budget is not reduced correspondingly, inflation is inevitable.

Assuredly, however, the Journal is correct in its observation of liberal-progressive-socialist readiness to abandon its feigned economic pieties and revert to Keynesian economic measures.

With regard to liberals’ Clinton era pretensions of fiscal prudence, several things are to be remembered.

First, President Clinton balanced the Federal budget in the short run by massively cutting our military budget. That left our armed forces, at 9/11, with severe constrictions in manpower, armaments, ammunition, and other supplies that forced us to use fewer troops in Iraq than standard military doctrine projected.

Second, the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) politically propagandistic projections of continued balanced budgets far into the future depended upon continuous economic expansion at faster sustained rates than ever before in history.

Third, President Clinton initially proposed one of the largest tax increases in our history. Only election of a Republican majority in Congress stopped the madness and gave us, instead, tax reductions. Thereafter tax revenues rose, rather than declined as the CBO estimated, because economic activity burgeoned under the stimulus of tax cuts.

Fourth, the Clinton administration, fronted by Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin and Vice President Al Gore, repeatedly lied to the American people, claiming that the Federal debt was being paid down. In fact, the Treasury’s own website simultaneously displayed the amount of Federal debt, which never stopped rising. What Secretary Rubin and Vice President Gore hoped the public would not discover was that the Treasury was simply retiring Federal debt held by the public and replacing it, dollar for dollar, with non-marketable debt held by the Treasury. The funding for that operation came, not from reduced Federal spending, but from fiat money created by the Federal Reserve system.

In short, the Clinton administrations’ liberal-progressive-socialist economic policies were no more substantive than a street-corner three card monte scam.

Target Takes Sites Off Bloggers , Doesn’t ‘Participate With Non-Traditional Media’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Target department stores apparently haven’t gotten the memo that dissing the Internet and bloggers can be a dangerous game for a retailer these days. And, Target isn’t just dissing blogges and “non-traditional media” they might be claiming they won’t even interact with them. All this over a new advertisement that shows a woman in Winter clothing, spread-eagled atop the Target logo, the center of which appears right between the model’s spread legs. Just what the “target” here is, can be a pertinent question to ask and several consumer advocates are asking just that question.

Amy Jussel of the organization Shaping Youth (shapingyouth.org), for instance, raised her concerns that this Target advert places an unwanted emphasis on a woman’s genitals and points out that it is part of the overly sexualized nature of too much of our advertising industry. Jussel says, “This Target ad is senselessly subversive on so many levels,” and wonders if Madison Avenue types care if “kids’ psyches are being trashed” in this country.

Jussel has also been following other ad campaigns that feature women in spread-eagled poses and pointing out the overly sexualized nature of our media.

Jussel wrote to the Target corporation about her concerns and received this curt reply:

Good Morning Amy,

Thank you for contacting Target; unfortunately we are unable to respond to your inquiry because Target does not participate with non-traditional media outlets. This practice is in place to allow us to focus on publications that reach our core guest.

Once again thank you for your interest, and have a nice day.

Smooth move, Target. Does Target not “get” that blogs and the Internet ARE the people that they want to reach to bring into their stores? Is Target completely unaware of the power of the Internet? Did Target not notice that Dan Rather, for instance, was laid low by the power of the Internet?

You’d think that Target would have learned their lesson when they banned the Salvation Army bell ringers from collecting donations in front of their stores last year. That Internet storm caused Target some heartburn.

Someone needs to update the Customer Relations Department at Target that the Internet is not something that you can just blow off and that the future resides on the world wide web!

So, I’ve got a little advice for you Target. Why don’t you set your aim on the FUTURE! Stop imagining the Internet is just a few nuts that no one cares about. Your unconcern with “non-traditional media outlets” may come back to bite you.

Global Warming’s Communist Underpinnings

-By Warner Todd Huston

If you need any more proof that the concept of Global Warming is less “science” and is more just a replacement for the kind of failed concepts of communism and socialism that is increasingly being rejected by the world, two recent stories helps clarify the point.

The first is a recent article by one Kellie Hastings, a writer who claims that her “research is thorough” and her “articles are written with style and intellect.” In a piece titled “Deadly Ozone From Drive-Thru Mania,” our Miss Hastings pours out her considerable “intellect” into the theory that drive thru windows are destroying the planet and making us a bunch of fatties.

These drive-thru window services contribute to smog, emissions, noise pollution, air pollution, pollution within the store itself as employees at the window are constantly breathing in exhaust fumes. They add to our obesity problem creating a lazy society. They congest the parking lots creating line ups adding to even more idling vehicles.

Wow, that is quite a list, a result of her “thorough research,” no doubt.

And what does all this evil come down to as far as Miss. Hastings is concerned?

And all this is for what, convenience sake, money, success?

Is the human species evolving or are we becoming selfish to our never ending needs, our services rendered mind set? Or is it because we cannot turn back the clock and change the structured society we all love so much?

Maybe we have misled ourselves in regards to the meaning of purpose. Materialistically speaking, is it our destiny or purpose to acquire as much as possible? Is our evolutionary success based on our technologically convenient lifestyle? Or are we here to serve the almighty dollar?

Yeah, it’s all because of … you guessed it… capitalism. Her solution, of course, is to put an end to all this capitalism stuff like all good communists aim to do.

MSNBC Floating a ‘McCain-Lieberman Ticket’ Despite Reality

-By Warner Todd Huston

Once again, the news media is trying to create reality instead of merely reporting on it. In this case, we have MSNBC trying to create a McCain-Lieberman ticket out of whole cloth with wild speculation not born of any real life news. What we end up with here isn’t any sort of journalism, but a wish list based only on the author’s desires and not any reading of reality. This fantasy does, however, fit in quite well with the media’s love of John McCain and his “gutsy” positions and their desires to override what Republicans want to instead have McCain anointed by the media as the GOP standard bearer.

I have an idea and I know that it’s a novel idea in most “journalist’s” circles. Let’s let Republicans decide who they want. The media should just report the matter not try to influence it. But, that advice aside, MSNBC’s Tom Curry floats his dream ticket anyway…

Will McCain, now a leading contender for the 2008 GOP nomination, borrow Kerry’s idea and offer the vice presidency to Sen. Joe Lieberman, Connecticut’s self-styled “independent Democrat”?

What possible proof does Mr. Curry think he sees that would lead him to this question? McCain flatly turned down any offers from John Kerry in 2004 to be his VP and running mate. Lieberman has repeatedly denied that he’d ever jump Party lines and become a Republican. There is no proof or even a hint that this dream of Curry’s could be in the offing. But, Curry sees the possibility none-the-less.

The McCain-Lieberman duo showed a warm camaraderie Friday during their joint appearance at the American Enterprise Institute, an event where they both called for a substantial increase in the number of U.S. troops in Iraq in order to impose order, stop ethnic cleansing, and give the Maliki government a chance to succeed.

So they exhibited “warm camaraderie”? So, what? Are Democrats and Republicans not allowed to show camaraderie without eliciting rumors of becoming running mates? Further, should all Dems and Repubs be such enemies that they cannot appear together to support some bill or some plan or another? And what does that say of the claim for “bi-partisanship” that the media is always bleating for?

Curry goes on to explore some of the two candidate’s “affinity of personnel, as well as of ideology” as an excuse to say they should hook up to run for the White House. But Curry focuses solely on a small, unrepresentative handful of issues where they agree and ignores that they’re polar opposites on a host of others that would make them untenable as a ticket.

Curry quotes a Lieberman campaign spokesman to support his claims that a “maverick” team could sway “independents” to accept a McCain-Lieberman ticket.

“With the caveat that it’s far too early for this type of speculation, birds of a feather do flock together,” Cabrera said. “And in a nation as politically polarized as ours, a bi-partisan maverick ticket could be incredibly formidable. But before we all start counting our independent chickens, there would also be a significant downside: a pro-war, pro-surge ticket. Barring a radical turn of events in Iraq, I can’t imagine ‘Vote Hawk’ serving as an effective rallying cry in ‘08.”

What an absurd fantasy. Independents have only one power at the polls and that is as a swing block. They CANNOT, however, elect a president solely on their own voting power. There just aren’t enough of them and Tom Curry should know this. Chances are, he does, but he is floating this “maverick” balloon in hopes that he can create his own reality, anyway. Naturally, that would assure that the Democrat — who ever is to be their nominee — would win the 2008 elections.

Like I said, it would be nice if the MSM would just stick to real reporting and shy from trying to create their own news, wouldn’t it?
