Racist Democrats Will Reject Obama!

-By Don Boys, Ph.D.

It is amazing that educated people don’t fall to the floor holding their sides with laughter, gasping for breath when Obama and McCain pitch their flaky, false, fraudulent visions for America. Democrats think Franklin Roosevelt has returned as the Messiah who will redeem America, reclaim respectability for the party and return them to power. Hysterical Republicans are frantically rearranging the deck chairs and polishing the brass handrails on the floundering GOP while the more astute ones (like me) have jumped overboard.

The only positive in this election year is that the racists will no longer be permitted to label America a racist nation. After all, look at the television programs and movies that feature Blacks as “stars.” And now a half Black candidate has raised millions of dollars and massive crowds in his own support for the Presidency. How could any sane person label us “bigoted,” “prejudiced,” or “racist”?

Of course, opportunists like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Company will continue to peddle their racist snake oil to the gullible but that does not surprise anyone.

Con-Lite Crowd Whines That Party of Reagan Torn in Two Over Palin

-By Warner Todd Huston

The segment of the Republican Party that I call the “conservo-lite” wing is mad at Sarah Palin. Maybe not so much mad as supremely contemptuous. These folks have been pretty upset over the pick of Governor Sarah Palin as McCain’s VP nominee, some of them even going to far as asking her to step down — despite the damage that such a move would cause the Party. Kathleen Parker, David Brooks, George Will, David Frum and others have announced their opposition to Palin and, consequently, their utter disdain for most of the members of their own Party.

And now comes D.R. Tucker to tell us in his posting at Human Events that supporters of Palin are “causing a rift” that if not healed will “destroy” the conservative movement. He says that the pro-Palin and anti-Palin sides of the GOP must heal this rift or it’s all over. Tucker thinks that Ronald Reagan “must turn his head in disgrace” as he witnesses the party self-destructing over Palin.

But, I don’t think Mr. Tucker realizes what it is he’s really seeing. We are not witnessing the destruction of the GOP but merely a stark highlighting of the factions that existed before Palin came upon the national scene. It’s a split that has been there since Ronald Reagan made his first bid against Ford in 1976. Palin is not the cause of the rift, she is merely a light exposing the fault lines.

Entertainment Weekly: Stone’s ‘W’ Flick Disappoints… Because of ‘Tough’ Economy?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Entertainment Weekly’s Joshua Rich reported on the weekend’s box office returns for the latest releases on October 19 to let us all in on Hollywood’s successes and failures, because, you know, Hollywood is important and all. We find that the Chihuahua movie is still going like gangbusters ($70 million in three weeks) and the horrid movie “Max Payne” led the weekend’s receipts with $18 million. Oliver Stone’s slamfest “W,” though, earned a disappointing fourth place on its debut weekend.

So, what was EW’s excuse for this disappointing finish? According to Rich, “W” is failing at the box office because of “tough economic times.” It’s curious, though, that people have spent $70 million on the Chihuahua movie in these same “tough economic times” — and let us not forget that the latest Batman movie has made over $300 million. Still, the excuse for the fourth place finish for Stone’s pseudo-biopic is “tough economic times,” just the same.

But, Rich’s excuse is a claim that even Entertainment Weekly itself has recently disputed, at least as far as the box office goes. Only a few weeks ago, the weekend that right-wing comedy “An American Carol” debuted, the same Box Office Report column said that the “economy may be tanking, but the box office remains healthy, with probably the only year-on-year metric that’s seen an uptick.”

Amazingly, but a few weeks later, EW’s Joshua Rich suddenly finds that these “tough economic times” are responsible for the failure of the movie that maligns nearly everyone in the Bush family?

Cornell Staffer/Dean Oppress Student’s Free Speech

More on Our Failed System of Education

Students that belong to a pro-life campus group called Cornell Coalition for Life (CCFL) spent weeks and hundreds of dollars organizing a pro-life display to be featured on the Cornell University Engineering Campus in Ithaca, New York. This was no guerilla campaign, either, because the CCFL applied for and received permission for its display. Yet, scarcely an hour had passed before an associate dean for the university summarily decided on her own to support the removal of the display by an administrative assistant despite that the display was approved by the college.

The CCFL had erected its “Elena Campaign” signs in the Engineering Quad to raise awareness among students of the earlier stages of fetal development, stages when many falsely imagine that a fetus is just a “lump of cells.” As the CCFL says, its “Elena Campaign” is “a series of light-hearted educational signs with pictures and text detailing the biological development of an unborn child.”

The folks at the Fort Hard Knox blog are featuring the incident as described by members of the CCFL.

Another Sad Card Check Story

-By Warner Todd Huston

In an op-ed on newsblaze, Brad O’Leary gives us news of the testimony of a former union organizer that saw the intimidation of workers that the “card check” concept fosters and it pretty much confirms the common sense worries over the institution of the woefully incorrectly named “Employee Free Choice Act.”

As we’ve discussed before, the EFCA includes provisions for “card check,” a plan where union organizers can do away with the secret ballot prospective union members have always had the benefit of having in the past. The secret ballot, a most standard of democratic practices, will be eliminated giving the unions full reign to intimidate workers into agreeing with union desires since the employee’s vote will be open for everyone to see as it is cast.

As O’Leary says, “Workers questioning or unwilling to side with union organizers have been subjected to a wide range of harassment, including fear of losing their jobs, identity theft and having their families targeted.”

Price Of Olympic Gold Growing Too High

-By Frederick Meekins

With the breakup of the Soviet Union and the alleged demise of Communism, it was assumed that the Olympic games would no longer be as much of an arena for showcasing the competing ideologies of individual liberty and nearly total social control. And even though East German woman with mustaches no longer quite raise eyebrows and hushed chuckles the way they once did, the Olympics are as much a battle for the minds of men as they have always been.

On the surface, it would be easy to conclude that the success of a country’s Olympic efforts would be determined by its medal count, particularly gold. If that is the case, the world is once again presented with contrasting examples provided by the United States and Red China.

On the one hand, China won the most gold but the United States won the most medals overall if silver and bronze are also factored into the tabulation. To some athletic diehards, though, it is only the gold that counts.

Murder by Abortion Leads to Societal Death

-By Thomas E. Brewton

Liberal-progressivism’s preoccupation with self-indulgent hedonism, evidenced glaringly in abortion advocacy, is literally death, the abnegation of social cohesion through abandonment of personal responsibility and morality.

A vote for Senator Obama is a vote for death. The spread of AIDs via rampant sexual promiscuity, facilitated by abortion, is only one small aspect of the phenomenon.

Read At Long Last: Obama, Abortion, and the Courts.

Abortion “rights” leave us only a short step away from the eugenic birth-control policies advocated by openly tyrannical socialist regimes such as Adolph Hitler’s National Socialist German Workers Party and Mao’s socialist China. Hitler forced sterilization of supposedly inferior races and regulated marriage to promote Aryian culture. Mao and subsequent Chinese regimes limited families to a single child and encouraged infanticide of female babies.

Obama Supporter Beats Up McCain Supporter… Media Silent

-By Warner Todd Huston

While the unsubstantiated reports of nasty remarks and advocacy of violence from attendees at McCain’s rallies remains the buzz from the Old Media establishment and as the Old Media points its accusing finger at Gov. Palin, constantly calling her a racist, real violence has been perpetrated on a McCain supporter at the hands of an Obamaton. Yet, strangely enough, the media has remained silent on the incident.

Oleg Atbashian informs us that the District Attorney of New York has indicted an Obama supporter that ripped a McCain sign out of the hands of a McCain supporter and beat her in the face with the wooden stick to which the sign was attached.

The complaint reads, “Defendant grabbed the sign [informant] was holding, broke the wood stick that was attached to it, and then struck informant in informant’s face thereby causing informant to sustain redness, swelling, and bruising to informant’s face and further causing informant to sustain substantial pain.”

NYTimes Admits Travel Writer Intentionally Lied About Economy in Article

-By Warner Todd Huston

On October 13, The New York Times gravely informed us that the economy was causing stress for travelers. Not just the economy in general, but specifically that the “crisis on Wall Street was the No. 1 cause of anxiety” for travelers. And, they had a survey to prove it, too. Or so NYT writer Paul Burnham Finney claimed. But, on October 21 the Times was forced to issue a little correction to Finney’s tall tale. You see, it turns out writer Finney outright lied about some of his claims and quotes.

In fact, it turns out that freelancer Finney made up quite a few “facts” for his story. Finney claimed the survey he was citing proved that travelers saw the Wall Street crisis as the “no. 1” worry and claimed that the survey participants felt vulnerable “in the office and on a business trip.” However, the survey did not ask such questions of participants, so Finney could not have gleaned any such thing from it. Finney also quoted Nancy Molitor, a psychologist in Wilmette, Ill., as saying that she had “never seen such anxiety” from among her “banking and business patients.” But, the paper discovered that Dr. Molitor never made such a statement to Finney.

In other words, it appears that Paul Burnham Finney simply made up these “facts” to fit the theme he wanted to push in his story. Real anxiety wasn’t enough for Finney. Instead, Finney massaged the story to fit the day’s headlines about Wall Street in order to make his story more sensational.

Labor Leaders Cannot Wait to Cripple Businesses, With Obama’s Help

-By Warner Todd Huston

As the Washington Post reports, it seems that in these tight economic times, big labor is admitting that it cannot wait until President Barack Obama comes to its aid by signing the Employee Free Choice Act, thereby dooming many American businesses to economic ruin.

The Post’s story was mostly just re-hash of items we’ve talked about here on the blog for many a month. But one paragraph stuck a chord. After revealing how undemocratic the union’s “card check” ideas are, the Post talked a little bit about what big labor wants to do once Barack wins election.

Aside from the card-check proposal, organized labor leaders say they plan to soon pursue measures that would result in expanded paid leave and health-care benefits, which small-business advocates say could cripple some struggling firms. With allies in Congress and the White House, union officials would also likely push for tougher workplace safety laws and enforcement, tighter restrictions on trade agreements and increases in the minimum wage.

In other words, in these shaky times, labor plans to destroy businesses. And they expect Barack Obama to help them do it.

Parents for Free Choice in Education, Israel Teitelbaum, Morristown, New Jersey

-By Israel Teitelbaum

Following are selected excerpts from last week’s presidential debate on the school voucher issue, followed by analysis and action alert.

MCCAIN: Well, it’s the civil rights issue of the 21st century. There’s no doubt that we have achieved equal access to schools in America after a long and difficult and terrible struggle. But what is the advantage in a low income area of sending a child to a failed school and that being your only choice? So choice and competition amongst schools is one of the key elements that’s already been proven in places in like New Orleans and New York City and other places, where we have charter schools…And we have to be able to give parents the same choice, frankly, that Senator Obama and Mrs. Obama had and Cindy and I had to send our kids to the school — their kids to the school of their choice. Charter schools aren’t the only answer, but they’re providing competition. They are providing the kind of competitions that have upgraded both schools — types of schools…

OBAMA: …Charter schools, I doubled the number of charter schools in Illinois despite some reservations from teachers unions. I think it’s important to foster competition inside the public schools…Where we disagree is on the idea that we can somehow give out vouchers — give vouchers as a way of securing the problems in our education system…

Barack Obama’s Campaign of the Lie

-By Selwyn Duke

Absent the ability to read minds and hearts, I can’t really tell you if Barack Obama is uniquely dishonest. What is for certain, though, is that his campaign is uniquely deceitful. These two things are not synonymous. Politicians are famous for suppressing facts and manufacturing fantasies to hide their faults, and, while Obama certainly practices this sleight-of-hand, I can’t say he is more inured to it that your average prevaricating pol. But what is doubtless is that he has more faults to hide.

It’s ironic that Obama has used the “lipstick on a pig” line, because Avon’s whole inventory couldn’t, sans media spin, cover up his true colors. And color is a factor this election. It’s not that the senator is black, however, or that, as he said last debate alluding to McCain’s criticism, he is “green behind the ears.” It’s that he is red behind the ears.

After Attacks on Palin, Biden Given a Pass by Media for Not Holding Press Conferences

-By Warner Todd Huston

The CBS News blog “From the Road” suddenly realized that Joe Biden was not giving the media any access and that he hasn’t held a press conference for well over a month. Even with this report, though, the media at large has been strangely quite on this disappearing act of Biden’s, especially in light of the drubbing they handed out to Sarah Palin when she was not so forthcoming with the press as they’d have liked after her debut on the national stage.

Remember all the pained cries from the media that Palin was “hiding” from them? Remember how they agonized over her distance from them in the month following her addition to the McCain ticket? Yet, Biden is not only refusing any interaction with the press, he is, for the most part, not even taking any questions from voters during his campaign stops.

Still, the media seems unconcerned with scolding Biden as much as they did Palin.

Late-Night Comics Attack Republicans By 7 to 1 Ratio

-By Warner Todd Huston

Not that any of us here could possibly be surprised — I say that to head off the inevitable comments asking how we could be — but a new study from the Center for Media and Public Affairs finds that late-night comedians attack Republicans far more than they do Democrats. In fact, the CMPA found a lopsided 7 to 1 ratio of Republican compared to Democrat jokes. “The total: Republicans, 286. Democrats, 42.”

Fox News reported that the CMPA’s Donald Rieck found that this current election was “driving it off the charts” with the preponderance of jokes directed at Republicans on late-night TV.

“Generally the Republicans get targeted much more often than Democrats, but this election is driving it off the charts,” said CMPA Executive Director Donald Rieck.

The CMPA has a running total going on its website for those interested in the complete breakdown. There you’ll find the count from the late-night shows “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report.”

New Book: Mobsters, Unions, and Feds – The Mafia and the American Labor Movement

-By Warner Todd Huston

James Jacobs has released his latest in a series of exposes on Organized Crime in the USA. This time in “Mobsters, Unions, and Feds: The Mafia and the American Labor Movement,” he focuses on how the Mob has infiltrated and distorted the labor movement in the U.S. to its own illegal, violent ends.

Jacobs meticulously chronicles the connections between the Mob and unionism and makes those connections irrefutable. Several reviews out there praise Jacobs for his effort, but a few complain that he isn’t “sensitive” enough to the ostensible goal of unionism, the workers. Of course, worrying about the supposed plight of the workers was NOT the goal of this book. The purpose of this book was to chronicle the Mob’s ties to unions. The “plight” of workers is a wholly other subject.

Check it out at Amazon.com.

What Google earnings say about Google-Yahoo; pricing power & a ‘derivative problem’

-By Scott Cleland

Google’s earnings provide an excellent window into why the DOJ has serious antitrust concerns with the proposed ad partnership between Google and Yahoo.

Google’s discussion of its 4Q08 earnings provides DOJ with substantial fresh evidence that Google is:

  • Exercising substantial pricing power;
  • Not running fair and competitive ‘auctions’; and
  • Anti-competitively self-dealing.

I. Pricing Power Evidence:

Any economist will explain revenue is simply volume times price. In 4Q08, virtually all of Google’s revenues continued to come from search monetization. Google reported that its ‘volume’ i.e. “aggregate paid clicks,” “increased approximately 18%” over 3Q07. Google reported that ‘revenues’ increased by 31% over 3Q07.

Joe Biden Admits Obama is Weak

-By Warner Todd Huston

At a recent campaign stop Joe Biden said he was sure that some bad actor in the world would “test” a new Barack Obama administration within “six months.” Biden here is admitting that the entire world sees Barack Obama as a weak character as someone they think they can get one over on.

Biden said:

Mark my words, within the next, first six months of this administration if we win, we’re gonna face a major international challenge because they’re gonna wanna test us.

I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate and he’s gonna need help. And the kind of help he’s gonna need is, he’s gonna need you – not financially to help him – we’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.

There is a partial sound clip on YouTube with some of Biden’s comments:

If someone as dumb as Joe Biden realizes this, who can doubt that our enemies are wringing their hands in glee over the thought of an Obama administration?

And, with this, you can understand why “the world” is so in love with the idea of an Obama presidency. After all, what better way to lay the USA low than to have the weakest, worst possible president at her head?

McCain Finally Finds the Right Economic Message

-By Warner Todd Huston

Joe the Plumber has been the catalyst that has finally helped highlight the fact that Barack Obama is a socialist at heart. His question and Obama’s candid answer has crystallized the true difference between himself and McCain. McCain may be a big government guy, but Barack Obama is an outright socialist.

After saying that it was Joe the Plumber that won in this election, McCain went on to finally deliver the right economic message.

On the Second Amendment, Don’t Believe Obama!

On the campaign trail, Senator Obama hides behind carefully chosen words and vague statements of support for sportsmen and gun rights to sidestep and camouflage the truth. But even he can’t hide from the truth forever… his voting record, political associations, and long standing positions make it clear that, if elected, Barack Obama would be the most anti-gun president in American history. The facts speak for themselves. This election day, vote to defend freedom…because if Obama wins, you lose.

It’s TREASON, I Tell You!

-By Warner Todd Huston

Treason! The word is thrown about quite a lot lately. Unfortunately, it is almost always hyperbole.

Oh, Americans think they know what treason is, but when you get right down to it, few really do — at least in an American legal context, anyway.

Webster’s defines traitor as one who betrays another’s trust or is false to an obligation or duty, one who commits treason. Treason is defined as the betrayal of a trust, or the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign’s family.

That’s all well and good and on a purely definitional level, that certainly is treasonous behavior. But U.S. law does not work purely on Webster’s definition. In fact, U.S. law has quite a specific meaning to treason and it’s one that makes a true, legal charge of treason quite hard to prove and harder to prosecute.

AP Again Calls Palin A Racist

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Associated Press has once again called Governor Sarah Palin a racist. This time Rachel D’Oro for the AP bases her claim on the fact that Palin appointed minorities to her Alaska administration — but not enough of them to suit the AP — and because at an Alaska rally when she was running for governor one attendee once spoke to a black cameraman in an unkind manner. Yep, that’s a mountain of evidence the AP has there, isn’t it?

The AP also spoke to a few black ministers in Alaska and, shockingly, they announced that they felt she had no “sensitivity” to their political positions. Imagine that? A Republican that isn’t receptive to demands based on a race driven agenda? No one has ever heard of that before, right?

In fact, since there is no real direct proof that Palin is somehow a racist, the AP report relies on innuendo and the claims of her political enemies to constitute its “proof.”

Even USA Today is Against ‘Card Check’!

-By Warner Todd Huston

USA Today is well known for having a liberal editorial page, but even they can’t stomach the anti-democratic debacle that is the inaptly named “Employee Free Choice Act.” Of course, it’s because of the unAmerican “card check” provision in this bill.

Our view on labor laws: No way to form a union

Workers deserve to hear both sides, vote in private.

When citizens go to the polls on Nov. 4, they will be free to vote their conscience — regardless of pressure from relatives, friends or co-workers — after having had a chance to weigh the alternatives. Campaigns and secret ballots are sacrosanct elements of American democracy.

So it’s surprising and disturbing that organized labor wants to do away with both these elements when workers decide whether to form a union.

It’s Americanism vs. Socialism on November 4th

-By Frank Salvato

At a recent campaign rally, along what is called “the rope line,” Senator Barack Obama was asked a question by a young prospective business owner about taxes and how Obama’s economic plan would affect him, his family and his business. Obama’s response – his unscripted, from the heart, authentic, no-spin, off-the-teleprompter response – was something that would have made Karl Marx proud. Make no mistake, “my friends,” this election is about Americanism vs. Socialism, and little else.

As Barack Obama was making his way through the crowd in Toledo, Ohio, a young plumber, Joe Wurzelbacher, situated at the rope line (the pathway candidates take to-and-from the venue stage) asked Sen. Obama a pretty straight forward question:

“Senator Obama, I’m going to have a business that makes $280,000 a year. You want to tax me. Why do you want to do that?”

And Obama gave him a pretty straight-forward, albeit chilling response:

“It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance at success too. I think that when you spread the wealth around it’s good for everybody.”

“I think that when you spread the wealth around it’s good for everybody.” There is so much wrong with not only this statement but this ideology it’s hard to know where to begin, but I’ll start with this: Senator Obama…it’s not your money to give!

Pew: Limbaugh and Hannity Fans Politically Smarter Than Colbert’s, CNN’s and Stewart’s

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Pew Research Center conducted a survey to see what the audiences of the various political shows knew about politics and what they found goes against the conventional wisdom about whose audience is better informed about current events. With a simple three-question survey about politicians of high office, it turned out that the audiences of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity answered correctly more than did that of the Colbert Report, Daily Show and CNN.

The quiz asked the names of two of the world’s leaders and one party in power to determine what audience is most well informed. Survey participants were asked the names of the Secretary of State, the British Prime Minister and the name of the party currently controlling the House of Representatives.

According to the report on livescience.com, the audiences of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report have more college graduates than that of Hannity and Colmes, yet the Hannity audience answered more of the questions correctly than did that of Colbert and Stewart. Apparently the audiences of conservative shows are more politically informed than those of liberal shows.

Obama’s Union Lies During Third Debate

-By Warner Todd Huston

As I was live blogging the third debate, I noted that Obama was not telling the truth about the union organizers being assassinated in Colombia. I did not elaborate too far except to say that such murders were down %80 since Uribe came to office and that it was not legitimate for the Democrats to continue to hold past assassinations against him in light of his fantastic efforts to stop it.

Yesterday the Wall Street Journal also noted this Obama lie and noted that it was a lie pushed by unions in the USA.

+++++++

Obama Makes It Up
Repeating union distortions.

In Wednesday night’s debate with John McCain, Barack Obama defended his opposition to the U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement this way: “The history in Colombia right now is that labor leaders have been targeted for assassination, on a fairly consistent basis, and there have not been any prosecutions.” Among the many falsehoods in this Presidential campaign, this is one of the worst.

It is true that Colombia has a history of violence. But since President Álvaro Uribe took office in 2002, that violence has been substantially reduced. The homicide rate through the end of 2007 was down by 40.4% and the rate among union members was down almost 87%. There is nothing “consistent” about a drop to 26 union member murders in 2007 from 155 in 2000.

Academics and Ayers: ‘Whatsoever Things are True…’

-By John Armor

This is now the 14th year of these weekly column. I’ve never used a Bible verse in these secular sermons. Here’s the exception to that rule.

Today’s text is from Phillippians 4:8. The King James Version is preferred for the beauty of its language:

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

The first task of every preacher who’s ever mounted a pulpit is to connect the Reading with the real world. Today’s sermon is about politics.
