Hultgren Campaign Urges TV Stations to Stop Running Dishonest Foster Ad

From the Hultgren for Congress campaign (14th District)…

ST. CHARLES – The Randy Hultgren for Congress campaign today sent a letter to Chicago-area TV stations, informing them that they are not required to air dishonest television advertisements paid for by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

“Today’s letter to the four stations informs them that the DCCC’s advertisement intentionally and knowingly deceives viewers about Randy’s status as the only anti-tax candidate in this race, and reminds them that they are under no obligation to run the ad,” said campaign manager John Cooney. “The stations also have an obligation to their viewers, per the Federal Communications Commission, to protect the public from false, misleading deceptive advertising, and the ad in question is all three. Rather than touting Congressman Foster’s record of supporting Nancy Pelosi 93% of the time in Washington, the DCCC has instead chosen to knowingly distort Randy’s record and position on the issues that matter to constituents.”

Former IL Governor Jim Edgar Endorses Bobby Schilling And Debates Wednesday

From the Schilling for Congress campaign (17th District)…

Gov. Edgar: Schilling will “benefit our country”

EAST MOLINE, IL–Former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar has endorsed Bobby Schilling in his run for Congress in the Illinois 17th District. Edgar was governor from 1991-1999, and under his stewardship, Illinois achieved smaller government and a budget surplus. Known as a pragmatist and an independent thinker, Edgar says he believes Bobby Schilling is built in the same mold.

“Bobby Schilling will stand for greater fiscal responsibility in Washington and bring an effective managerial style that will benefit our country,” Edgar said. “His belief in fiscal responsibility, focus on jobs, and passion to serve will benefit families in Illinois. Our state has been through some tough years, but I am confident that Bobby’s background as a small business owner and a family man will make him a great representative for the people in the Illinois 17th District.”

Bobby Schilling said he was honored to have Gov. Edgar’s endorsement.

Heartland Institute: A Night With P.J. O’Rourke

-By Warner Todd Huston

On Oct. 20 I had the please of sitting in an intimate audience in downtown Chicago, Illinois invited to listen to one of America’s great wits, P.J. O’Rourke and what a fun night it was. The evening was sponsored by Chicago’s Heartland Institute, a free market policy group.

O’Rourke’s latest book is titled Don’t Vote It Just Encourages the Bastards. I was lucky enough to get my copy signed by the author that evening.

Don’t Vote is a brilliant, disturbing, hilarious, and ultimately sobering look at why politics and politicians are a necessary evil – but only just barely necessary.

Democrat Teacher Can’t Believe Kids Would Vote For Republican

-By Warner Todd Huston

Last week I spied a short piece at Illinois Review about a post on My Suburban Life that detailed the story of a left-wing teacher that was shocked that a majority of her students in DuPage County, Illinois voted for Republican Representative Peter Roskam in the school’s mock election.

Social studies teacher Lori Keough of Glenbard High School found herself flummoxed that her students voted for every Democrat on the fake ballot but Representative Roskam, a Republican. Glenbard High is situated in Roskam’s 6th legislative district.

Students picked Republican Peter Roskam for the 6th district, with 52 percent of the vote, compared to Democrat Benjamin Lowe, who brought in 44 percent. For the other elections, students mainly voted for Democrats.

Social studies teacher Lori Keough was surprised by yesterday’s results.

“Just because DuPage County is so Republican, I was shocked that Democrats won every single race except for Roskam,” she said. “It shows in general that students are learning on their own and making decisions on their own and not going with what their parents think.”

You just have to laugh at this blinkered assumption that left-wing teacher Keough had here. So the kids didn’t make decisions just “going with what their parents think” but agreed with her that all Democrats should be elected… and as far as she is concerned her indoctrination of students is evidence of students “learning on their own” but if kids went with their parent’s ideas, why they are not “learning on their own.”

A Break for ‘Mob Banker,’ Feds Releasing Report After Election

-By Warner Todd Huston

It must be nice to be an Obama insider like Democrat Senate candidate Alexi “The Mob Banker” Giannoulias is. Obama’s FDIC is obviously in his corner, it seems. After all, the FDIC decided to wait until after the election is over to release its report on the failure of Giannoulias’s family bank.

So, Giannoulias might possibly be safely elected to the Senate before the results of any embarrassing investigations into his culpability for the bank failure are released.

Yep, must be nice to have basketball partners in high places.

Campaign Donations, ‘Shady Sources’ & The Lies of the Left

-By Frank Salvato

Many people will insist that the subject of the Democratic National Committee’s attack ad – the one that takes pot-shots at Karl Rove, Ed Gillespie, the US Chamber of Commerce and the GOP in general – is a dead issue; that the moment in time to “slice and dice” this most egregious media hatchet job has come and gone. Nothing could be further from the truth and here’s why: This attack ad by the DNC – and John Podesta, via the Center for American Progress – makes honesty an issue in this election cycle.

Pardon me for saying so, but it is well past time that we expect honesty from not only our elected officials but from those running for office, those raising money for those running for office, the political parties – and their surrogates, and the media, the total of the media, both the new and the decrepit. We Americans have tolerated dishonest “spin” for decades and, quite honestly, we have only ourselves to blame. If we weren’t buying it, they wouldn’t be selling it.

Case in point…

Three Observations About Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller’s Debate Against Brenna Findley

-By Shane Vander Hart

The one and only Iowa Attorney General Race debate was held yesterday at the University of Iowa Law School between Democratic incumbent Attorney General Tom Miller and Republican challenger Brenna Findley. I have read the scant coverage offered and some info that was emailed to me. I hope to watch or listen if it made available online. From what I have read I have three observations.

1. Incumbent Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller’s claim to bipartisanship is asinine.

So I guess that is why he didn’t defend our Defense of Marriage Act (which was bipartisan legislation). His bipartisanship also led him to warn county recorders about legal consequences (like getting them removed from office) if they didn’t comply with the Iowa Supreme Court’s unconstitutional order for them to commence issuing marriage licenses. Please show me the law in the Iowa Code that allows gay marriage. Also show me where in the Iowa Constitution it gives the Iowa Supreme Court the authority to administer the law.

John Conyers Speaking at Democratic Socialists of America Meeting

-By Warner Todd Huston

Should Democrats “pal around” with socialists? Whether it is a good idea or not here we have a sitting congressman actually going to a group of socialists and addressing them at one of their meetings. It wasn’t that many years ago that such a meeting would ring the death knell for a politician’s career.

Today, though, it goes entirely without note.

On October 5, 2010, Congressman John Conyers went personally to speak before a meeting in Michigan’s of members of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

The socialist that introduced Conyers reminded the gathered comrades that Conyers was a major sponsor of the single payer healthcare system. Amazingly Conyers noted that he was “honored” to be introduced by the socialist, too, and paid all due deference to those assembled.

Senator Chris Lauzen: Ridden Hard and Hung Up Wet

-By State Senator Chris Lauzen, 25th District

The decent, hard-working taxpayers of Illinois – – of our entire country – – have been “ridden hard and hung up wet”, as they say in the Deep South.

I was shocked to read about a focus group of “Wal-Mart Moms”, a new political demographic of disappointed female voters, a significant portion whom feel sorry for President Obama. I don’t fully understand this emotion considering the aggressive passage of healthcare, cap-and-trade, so-called stimulus/takeovers and multiple expensive vacation trips for him and Michelle, but I am listening closely.

Representative Shakowski Again Refusing to Answer Simple Questions

-By Warner Todd Huston

Rep. Jan Schakowski has refused over and over to answer the simple question about just where in the Constitution Obamacare’s insurance mandates appear. What part of our nation’s governing document justifies Congress forcing Americans to buy something? Shakowski consistently refuses to answer this seminal question.

John Ruberry of Marathon Pundit once again asked these questions of Rep. Shakowski and, once again, she refused to answer.

Notice how these were not screamed questions, not raucous, right-wing attack dogs here? These videographers comported themselves professionally, did not name call, and asked their questions in a respectful tone. Yet Rep. Shakowski still refused to answer.

It’s time to get rid of this odious, leftist, monstrosity. Vote Joel Pollak in the 9th District!

Hultgren Was Tonight’s Winner In St. Charles

From the Hultgren for Congress campaign (14th District)…

ST. CHARLES – The Randy Hultgren for Congress campaign issued the following statement tonight after the League of Women Voters candidate forum in St. Charles.

“With his clearly articulated, positive vision for the future and his commonsense solutions to the problems confronting our nation’s economy and workforce, Randy Hultgren was clearly the winner in tonight’s debate,” said John Cooney, Hultgren for Congress campaign manager. “Voters have a choice between Bill Foster’s unwavering support for Nancy Pelosi’s reckless agenda of rampant spending, higher taxes and bigger government or Hultgren’s plans for limiting the size and scope of our federal government, lower taxes and responsible government. Voters in the 14th District realize that Congress is broken and that Randy Hultgren will fight to restore a commonsense approach in Washington.”

News Flash: Life Isn’t Fair!

-By Nancy Morgan

Just after Obama was elected president, I asked my niece, Sarah, to tell me, in one word, why she voted for him. She thought about it for awhile, and then replied, “equality.”

Sarah is a newly minted Ph.D., a recent product of government schools and a very smart woman. Not surprisingly, she has adopted the progressive’s outlook as her own. To her credit, she is concerned with others less fortunate than herself. She is genuinely compassionate and strives to do the right thing.

Unfortunately, like millions of Americans, Sarah has been led to believe that Obama has the ability to make life more just. She seems to believe that the leftist template of “social justice” will finally result in equality and justice for all. I give her credit for her concern and I applaud her interest in others. I also look forward to the day when she has enough life experience to realize that life will never be fair. That people will never be “equal.”

Christian Colleges Remember: With Shekels Come Shackles!

-By Don Boys, Ph.D.

It is time for leaders in Christian colleges to take a stand against a massive Federal power grab of all educational institutions in the U.S. A proposal expected to be effective in November will bring all colleges under the wing of the Federal government. According to former senator Bill Armstrong, “The Department of Education is attempting to subject every college and university in America – public and private – to political supervision,” he said in an e-mail to WorldNetDaily. He is also concerned over government approval of all curricula used in all schools.

Moreover, the government is demanding that complaints be monitored and responded to appropriately. Most important, under this proposed federal rule change, institutions of higher education “would be required to have a document of state approval … to operate an educational program, including programs leading to a degree or certificate,” said Shapri D. LoMaglio of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities in Bob Unruh’s WND column. Presumably, this would apply to schools that accept any kind of aid (which is practically all post high school institutions) from state and federal governments.

Hultgren Meets With Small Business Advisory Committee

From the Hultgren for Congress campaign (14th District)…

ST. CHARLES – Randy Hultgren, Republican candidate for Congress, met with more than fifty 14th District small business owners and employees today, members of the Hultgren campaign’s Small Business Advisory Committee. The National Federation of Independent Business and U.S. Chamber of Commerce have endorsed Hultgren.

“This morning’s meeting was a great opportunity for me to hear the concerns and needs of small business owners and employers from across our district,” said Randy Hultgren. “Small business owners and employers remain deeply concerned about the alarmingly anti-business climate in Washington – the out-of-control spending, the looming tax hikes, and the uncertain regulatory climate that discourages investment and growth.

“They also know, as I do, that getting our economy moving and putting Americans back to work doesn’t require massive Washington spending programs but will instead require commonsense government. To restore economic prosperity, we need to keep taxes low and regulations reasonable, and work to reduce spending and the national debt.”

Remember in November: Every Democrat Elected to the House of Representatives Will Vote for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker

-By Michael Zak

Though obvious to political junkies, it’s not obvious to everyone. And, it’s a wedge issue that Republicans can use to split independents away from die-hard Democrats.

This sums up the mid-term election issues very nicely: every Democrat elected to the House of Representatives will vote for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker.

Yes, every Democrat elected to the House of Representatives in November will vote for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker in January. And, every Republican elected to the House of Representatives will vote against Nancy Pelosi as Speaker.

Here, in the photo, is Nancy Pelosi, gavel in hand, taunting the American people the day her Democrat majority passed the Obamacare bill. With her are Rep. Steny Hoyer, Rep. John Lewis, Rep. Chris Van Hollen and other members of her Democrat leadership.

Reason #1 & 2 to Vote Out Phil Hare

With just 20 days until Election Day, the Bobby Schilling for Congress campaign announced the unveiling of the top twenty reasons why Phil Hare does not deserve re-election. One reason will be released each day leading up to the election.

Reason #1 to vote Phil Hare out of office: According to the American Legislative Exchange Council’s (ALEC) 2010 Rich States, Poor States report, Illinois ranks 48th out of 50 states in job creation. On page 97 of the report, ALEC displays disturbing trends such as migration away from the state (637,979 people went elsewhere from 1999-2008) and progressively higher taxation. This same report ranks Illinois among the bottom five states in the country when it comes to future economic outlook.
