The Right to Defend Sovereignty

-By Nancy Salvato

It is written in the Declaration of Independence that “all men are created equal and that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.” Each and every one of us has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. A seemingly simple idea, it’s the definition of when a life begins or should end, when the liberty of one being is to be considered encroaching on the liberty of another, and on the meaning of personal happiness on which we disagree.

I imagine one would be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn’t want a peaceful existence which would allow us to go about our lives unencumbered by external threats. Again, it’s the method our country uses to achieve a relatively peaceful existence and at what cost –on which we currently disagree. While all of these topics are worthy of discussion and study, the question of our nation’s sovereignty begs examination at this moment in time because our present way of life is the direct result of our nation’s sovereign status in the world and so for many of us, it is worth preserving.

Reuters: 8,000 Bosnia Massacre Victims Just Like Gazans?

-By Warner Todd Huston

These sort of nonsensical comparisons, filled to the brim with hyperbolic foolishness, is what we get from the anti-Israeli Old Media so often that it almost fails to even surprise at this point. But, here is Reuters again indulging its inner terrorist, just the same.

In “Bosnia genocide victims protest Gaza offensive,” Reuters reports the over-the-top claims made by Bosnian Muslims that the action in Gaza is “just like” that of the 8,000 Bosnians murdered in 1995 in and around Srebrenica. This absurd comparison is, of course, these Muslim’s opinion, but Reuters reports this straight without bothering to reveal the full facts that would show that there is, in truth, no comparison between the two situations at all.

A Fundamentalist Christian Looks at Fundamentalist Islam!

-By Don Boys, Ph.D.

Have American Christians misread or misinterpreted historic Islam? I am afraid many have, and as a Bible-believing Christian concerned with the truth, I want to challenge their thinking.

Many believe that all Muslims are uneducated fanatics; however, many Muslim clerics are highly educated, urbane, and politically informed.

Another false conception is that all Muslims are terrorists, and while State Department testimony reveals that the extremists in Saudi Arabia control 80% of U.S. mosques, some Muslims are anti-terrorists. Some Muslim leaders, especially in Europe and Egypt have taken anti-terrorist positions at the risk of their lives! I have great respect for those clerics. (However, where have mass demonstrations of American Muslims taken place since 9-11 to show abhorrence for terror?)

The Barack Obama – King George Connection

-By John Armor

Barrack Obama seems poised, based on his associates and his appointments to date, to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine for American radio programming, If he does that administratively through his naming of a new Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, he’ll be taking a page out of King George III’s book of policies toward the American colonists.

Say what?

Isn’t that a bit of a stretch since the number of radio stations in 1776 was shockingly low, and King George did not have a Royal Communications Commission? Well, actually he did, and thereon hangs a tale.

President Obama: How Bad Will It Be?

-By John Armor

Let us take two sources – the statements made by Barack Obama as a candidate and the lessons of history – combine them and make some predictions. The results are not pretty.

These three results — a new World War, a new Great Depression, and permanent damage to the Constitution – are given in decreasing order of damage to the United States. That happens to be the reverse of their odds of happening. Though to me, as a student of the US Constitution, the last item is still critically bad.

Based on his repeated comments about Iran and Pakistan, Obama will coddle our sworn enemy, Iran, and will invade and antagonize our shaky but critical ally, Pakistan. Yes, I know we have done cross-border raids into Pakistan’s lawless border territory. But we have kept those in the lowest possible profile to avoid antagonizing a critical ally whose population is mostly Muslim and who possesses working nuclear weapons.

Brides from a War Long Ago

-By John Armor

This weekend I joined a new family. The members of this family speak fluent German, French, Italian, Polish, Russian. They also speak fluent Chinese, Japanese, Tagalog. And they speak English in the accents of at least five different nations. Lastly, the heart of this family is a group of women who are all at least eighty years old.

As I write this, I’m at the annual reunion of the WW II War Brides Association. The children of war brides and their spouses are also welcome here. But the raison d’etre is the women, like my mother-in-law, who was raised in Paris, married an American soldiers right after the end of WW II, and came to the United States to live.

A large number of the war brides are from England, for a logical reason. The G.I.s spent more time in that country, preparing and staging for the invasions of North Africa, Italy, and finally France, then they spent on the ground anywhere else. A large number are also from Australia, since G.I.s staged there for the attacks “up the islands,” as they say, from the Philippines to Japan.

Mandating a Perfect World

-By Thomas E. Brewton

Liberal-progressives’ conception of social justice always requires the political state forcibly to impose some form of equality.

Social justice, in the catechism of the socialist religion, is no more than an exertion of raw power to force people to conform to what liberal-progressives believe conditions ought to be.

Forced equality was the mode in the world’s first socialist political state, Revolutionary France. After the 1789 Revolution, France was reeling under wild swings from monarchy, to attempts at constitutional government, to the rule of street mobs. Matters came to a head with the execution of King Louis XVI in January, 1793. The Assembly’s Revolutionary Tribunal and the Committee of Public Safety announced, “It is wholly necessary to establish briefly the despotism of freedom in order to crush the despotisms of Kings.” (quoted in André Maurois, A History of France).

What “the despotism of freedom” meant was the bloody Reign of Terror. The Revolutionary Tribunal, during fourteen months of continuous sessions, condemned thousands of people to the guillotine as purported enemies of the Revolution. Altogether, more than 70,000 French citizens – men, women, children of all ages – were murdered in the name of Freedom, Equality and Brotherhood.

Joe Biden Admits Obama is Weak

-By Warner Todd Huston

At a recent campaign stop Joe Biden said he was sure that some bad actor in the world would “test” a new Barack Obama administration within “six months.” Biden here is admitting that the entire world sees Barack Obama as a weak character as someone they think they can get one over on.

Biden said:

Mark my words, within the next, first six months of this administration if we win, we’re gonna face a major international challenge because they’re gonna wanna test us.

I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate and he’s gonna need help. And the kind of help he’s gonna need is, he’s gonna need you – not financially to help him – we’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.

There is a partial sound clip on YouTube with some of Biden’s comments:

If someone as dumb as Joe Biden realizes this, who can doubt that our enemies are wringing their hands in glee over the thought of an Obama administration?

And, with this, you can understand why “the world” is so in love with the idea of an Obama presidency. After all, what better way to lay the USA low than to have the weakest, worst possible president at her head?

Pew: Limbaugh and Hannity Fans Politically Smarter Than Colbert’s, CNN’s and Stewart’s

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Pew Research Center conducted a survey to see what the audiences of the various political shows knew about politics and what they found goes against the conventional wisdom about whose audience is better informed about current events. With a simple three-question survey about politicians of high office, it turned out that the audiences of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity answered correctly more than did that of the Colbert Report, Daily Show and CNN.

The quiz asked the names of two of the world’s leaders and one party in power to determine what audience is most well informed. Survey participants were asked the names of the Secretary of State, the British Prime Minister and the name of the party currently controlling the House of Representatives.

According to the report on livescience.com, the audiences of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report have more college graduates than that of Hannity and Colmes, yet the Hannity audience answered more of the questions correctly than did that of Colbert and Stewart. Apparently the audiences of conservative shows are more politically informed than those of liberal shows.

Graffiti Wall ‘Vandalized’ By… um, Graffiti?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Only on the Island nation of England, a place that has literally become a living recreation of Alice’s Wonderland world, can this story exist. Only in a world where logic, laws and traditions have been summarily erased only to be replaced by frivolity and situational ethics can the situation that spawned this laughable tale even be possible. In England we find a world upside down. A native son, Swift, thought he was writing satire those centuries ago, but he was utterly unaware that he was actually writing prophecy — one that has now come true.

The laughing stock that is Britain gives us the harrowing tale of the graffiti wall that was “vandalized” by… well, graffiti and the tongue clucking Bobbie that is all aghast over this evil deed.

That’s right, a graffiti wall that has been “ruined” by having someone put graffiti on it. At least, that is the charge leveled by the nitwits that run the town of Wadebridge in Cornwall. You see, the Town Council went to all the effort to plan and raise funds to erect a curving, blank wall upon which local punks and lawbreakers could paint their graffiti. Apparently, the idea is to give these little monsters a place to do their worst so as not to destroy property in the area.

But, horror of horrors, what happened? An actual citizen got so upset that his tax money was going for this absurd purpose that he painted a message of his own on the blank wall. That message read, “I paid my tax and all I got was this lousy wall.”

No More Vietnams

-By Jeff Lukens

The war in Iraq may be ending in much the same way the war in Vietnam appeared to be ending in 1973 with the signing of the Paris Peace Accords. We had finally won in Vietnam, but then lost the peace two years later. The outcome of the 2008 presidential election could determine whether Iraq becomes “another Vietnam” should there be a significant renewal of insurgent activity.

The Left would have us believe we were stuck in Iraq in an endless and unwinnable quagmire like they said we had in Vietnam. That comparison, however, has not held up. While much about the two wars is similar, a key difference was Lyndon Johnson’s muddled strategy in Vietnam compared with George W. Bush’s winning strategy in Iraq.

Georgia/Russian War: Blame Obama

-By Warner Todd Huston

General Wesley Clark had one thing right during his tenure as a general in the U.S. military. He understood the portentous nature of the Russian’s move to take control of the airport in Pristina, Kosovo at the end of the 1999 NATO engagement in Yugoslavia. He ordered NATO forces to gear up to prevent the Russians from taking the airport but was opposed by British Gen. Michael Jackson, at the time head of the Kosovo peacekeeping forces, who reportedly told Clark that he wouldn’t help him start a third World War.

I don’t know if Clark fully realized what the investment of the Pristina airport might have meant for future Russian actions, but he seemed to know then that it wasn’t a good thing. In retrospect, we can see that, even though they backed down in 1999, it taught the Russians the lesson that they could act with impunity without fear of any real consequences. Later, though, the Russians found that they could not count out any action with Bush in the White House.

Now, let’s face the truth about Russia. She has never, ever been part of the club. No Russian leader has ever seemed convincingly interested in joining the western world and act as a responsible member of an international community. Oh, there was that brief, shining hour when Boris Yeltsin came close, and then only just. But none before and certainly none after have been interested in joining the enlightened world. And, once again, we are seeing Russian belligerence hold true. In this case, instead of purely militaristic aims, we are seeing a Russia planning on an energy hegemony over Europe and willing to act the bad boy to achieve those aims.

Certainly the weakling states of the European Union haven’t the guts nor the military to force Russia to behave herself. Just as certain, the members of the EU have no will to stop Russian plans to control all energy in the region. Only the U.S.A. has displayed the will to oppose moves such as Russia’s in the world today and even that will is anemic.

2008 Olympics

I just wanted to let everyone know that I won’t be writing about the Olympics or covering it in any way. I feel that every American (including President Bush) that are in attendance at the Olympics are traitors to democracy and civilization.

These commie bastards are our enemies. Each and every Chinese citizen (and I use that term very euphemistically), each man, woman and child are enemies to the USA, the west, and basic civilization. They look at us as enemies and we should return the favor. Look where pretending that “they really don’t mean it” got us where it concerns Muslims!

China should be treated as the lepers that they are, not as useful and legitimate citizens of the international community.

World Citizenship?

-By Thomas E. Brewton

It means different things, depending upon your religious faith.

Responding to Senator Obama, Citizen of the World, a reader emailed this observation:

June 17, 1982 – Ronald Reagan speaking to the United Nations General Assembly, “I speak today both as a citizen of the United States and of the world. I come with the heartfelt wishes of my people for peace, bearing honest proposals and looking for genuine progress.”

Would you care to come to the same conclusions about President Reagan?

My response is that the difference between Senator Obama’s usage and President Reagan’s is a matter of intent.

Do It Now!

-By Vince Johnson

Don’t tell Nike, but we have changed their slogan from “Just do it” to “Do it now!” We see no point in advising them of this event. They are happy with the way things are. We made this change last month when we signed up for a two week tour of New Zealand and Australia. This trip is one Barbara (my spouse) has wanted to take since her high school days. Whenever discussion about going to Australia came up, as it often did, I’d make all the comments you’d expect from one who knew such a trip would never happen. I don’t like to slosh cold water on people’s dreams. You know how that goes.

Things changed one day in early June when a travel brochure arrived. It was an invitation to tour New Zealand and Australia including a three day cruise of the Great Barrier Reef on the Coral Princess, a 25 stateroom boat. Within an hour we were having a serious discussion about doing it. The rationalizing went very well. We are nearing the time of life where such trips are becoming physically difficult. With a 25 couple limit we knew from experience that it doesn’t take long to book the entire cruise. Within three days we had made the commitment. We had been going along with the “Just do it” routine for years. It was time to “Do it now!” We did and another adventure has germinated!

Brits, Inat’l Community, Subsidizing Torture With Aid

-By Warner Todd Huston

By now, we are all familiar with the specious European efforts to bring President Bush up on charges of “crimes against humanity” because of the authorized torture he and his administration supposedly instituted. Oh, the Euros are in high dudgeon over their assumed sense of moral superiority in their claims against the evil, evil America. Despite the rapidly improving situation in Iraq, the calls to throw our national leaders into some Euroweenie calaboose have surged unabated. Yet, as these same hypocrites have been funding a supporting torture (not to mention financing the exportation of terrorism) for decades and now there is another report that points this little hypocritical fact out for all the world to see.

On July 29, The Guardian newspaper reported that two “leading human rights groups” are reporting that the Palestinian groups Hamas and Fatah routinely capture and torture members of each others organizations as well as Palestinians not known to be affiliated with any group.

Al-Haq, an independent Palestinian human rights group, said yesterday that more than 1,000 people have been detained by each side within the past year. An estimated 20%-30% of the detainees suffered torture, including severe beatings and being tied up in painful positions, said Al-Haq director Shawan Jabarin, citing sworn statements from 150 detainees. It said mistreatment had led to three deaths in Gaza and one in the West Bank.

Another human right group, Human Rights Watch, concurs that torture “is dramatically up.”

Meanwhile, Human Rights Watch makes similar allegations in a 113-page report due out tomorrow. “The use of torture is dramatically up,” said Fred Abrahams, a senior researcher for the group. The report found detainees in Gaza were held for shorter periods than those in the West Bank but the abuse was more intense.

And what is the response to this torture by the vaunted “international community”? They want to throw money at the Palestinians.

CNN Adds Video of Riots in Budapest to Report of Riots in Belgrade

-By Warner Todd Huston

Apparently, CNN decided that they didn’t have enough video of rioting in their recent story on unrest in Belgrade, Serbia, so they decided to add in footage of rioting in Budapest to sexy up the story. I have to say, if the Kosovars intend to make the cut with CNN in the future, they’d better start rioting to the satisfaction of CNN’s video editors. Either that, or CNN can start showing us all some truthful video with their stories. Whatever the case, CNN’s misstep doesn’t just make them look bad, it makes all Americans look bad.

On July 30, CNN aired a report in their international news titled “Serb Ultranationalists Rally” in which footage of riots in two different cities and two different countries were edited together to represent the unrest in Kosovo. Serbian TV was a bit mystified by this embellishment, and rightfully so. RTS asserted that since CNN didn’t have violent enough footage for their riots story, they “resorted to their favorite Hollywood trick” of “montaging and pasting together the sequences from Budapest and Belgrade protests” to accompany the story. (See foreign language report from Serbian RTS TV)

Naturally, since the original airing and posting on the Internet, and since people began to ridicule CNN for the melding of video of riots in different countries, CNN has removed the video without comment. Making matters worse, many now see a conspiracy where they originally just saw incompetence. A screen shot of the original CNN page clearly shows a snapshot of the video compilation.

Obama’s trip: “Tour of Duty”

-By Marie Jon’

Presumptive Democrat nominee Barack Obama’s trip to Afghanistan, Iraq and Europe is all part and parcel of a full blown media event that most intuitive Americans will view as contrived and overdone; an event to compensate for Sen. Obama’s lack of experience and extraordinarily thin political portfolio. The media has helped orchestrate this publicity stunt to attract attention to their chosen candidate. There is no more doubt that they are in the tank for the presumptive Democrat presidential nominee.

Many people have been awestruck by Barack’s suave manners and good looks. However, he does not have the stature of a wise and knowing candidate. With a mere three years in the Senate, it is almost laughable that Obama is actually being seriously considered for the most important job in the world. “There is no there there.” It truly has been silly season this election year and it is amazing (sadly, not in a good way) what the DNC political machine has accomplished.

Everything about Barack appears to be a continual drama, right down to the his racist bigoted religious mentors, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Father Phleger, and kinship with Rev. Otis Moss, III, of Trinity United Church of Christ. The church is part of a denomination that belongs to the far left National Council of Churches. The NCC is the largest gathering in the religious community with a long record of supporting Communist regimes.

England: Stabbed, Gutted and Bleeding Out

-By Warner Todd Huston

Most haughty Europeans look down their nose at we “violent Americans.” They sniff the air at the ugly American and assume that they are, one and all, more “civilized” than we gauche colonials. Look at all the gun violence in America, they say. They tsk. tsk us for the deaths by gun. Certainly they are better than we?

Now shocking news emerges out of England this month. It is estimated that 25,000 stabbings have occurred in Jolly, more civilized ol’ England in the last 12 months alone. You read that right, there have been 25,000 incidents of knife violence in England in the last year.

Worse, those numbers generally only include incidents where blood is drawn.

The count includes only murders, stabbings where blood is spilled and knifepoint muggings. If less-serious crimes like threats or illegal possession were included, numbers would be far higher.

And what is the government doing? Well, in truth it doesn’t matter a bit what they are or are not doing. Since the common people have no right to defend themselves in England, they are like sheep to the slaughter.

Obama Hits a Wall! Will Media Highlight MAJOR Obama Gaffe in Berlin Speech?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Obama’s speech today in Berlin, hailed as a “major” address, has at least one major, glaring error that shows that nether Obama nor his handlers and speech writers were thoroughly familiar with the facts. Obama’s main theme was about the “walls” that separate all of us one from another. He claims that many of these “walls” have been taken down and hails that as progress. But in at least one instance he is wrong. In fact more walls have been built where Obama claimed they were taken down.

First the relevant section of Obama’s misconception (my bold for emphasis):

The walls between old allies on either side of the Atlantic cannot stand. The walls between the countries with the most and those with the least cannot stand. The walls between races and tribes; natives and immigrants; Christian and Muslim and Jew cannot stand. These now are the walls we must tear down.

We know they have fallen before. After centuries of strife, the people of Europe have formed a Union of promise and prosperity. Here, at the base of a column built to mark victory in war, we meet in the center of a Europe at peace. Not only have walls come down in Berlin, but they have come down in Belfast, where Protestant and Catholic found a way to live together; in the Balkans, where our Atlantic alliance ended wars and brought savage war criminals to justice; and in South Africa, where the struggle of a courageous people defeated apartheid.

(Full Obama speech transcript here.)

Obama claims that the walls built to separate Protestant from Catholic have come down in Belfast. Well, in fact, they have not. In reality MORE ARE BEING BUILT all the time.

Baptists, Puritans, and the Witch Hunt!

-By Don Boys, Ph.D.

Hatred of Baptists was not limited to the Old World. The New World had its haters also and Baptists had to suffer the whip, the club, and prison to gain their religious liberty.

Boston authorities imprisoned three Baptists and whipped one of them grievously. This whipping of Obadiah Holmes was witnessed by Henry Dunster, president of Harvard College, and it made a life-changing impression on him. Dunster looked closer at the question of infant baptism and concluded that the Baptist position was the Bible position. When he made that announcement, it produced heartburn in every Puritan in New England.

Dunster was a scholar of Hebrew, Greek, Latin, and the Oriental languages. He was also an able preacher, and his conversion to Baptist principles was one of the most sensational events that occurred during that period. He refused to permit his own child to be “baptized” in the Congregational Church where he was a member! He felt strongly impressed (by the Puritans) to resign his position at Harvard. (Hey, what happened to academic freedom?)

All this sensational news didn’t hurt the growth of Baptists in New England, and they continued to erect buildings (illegally) while the Puritans turned up the heat. The Baptists built a church building in 1679, but the Puritan officials passed a law that required a “license from the authorities.” The Puritan authorities thought they could control the Baptists if they required a license to meet. That is what a license is for today—control.

This CAN’T Be Good: NK Delegation Visiting Venezuela

-By Resa LaRu Kirkland

I have made it my duty to get people to call the evil we face in this day and age what it truly is: Islammunism. Not only is Islamofascism incorrect, the calling of evil or unpopular regimes “fascist” was the goal of Krushev when he was training infiltrators on how to bring down the USA. His reasoning? Words play subtle tricks on the mind–that is the essence of PC, and why I call it “Political Castration.” The word correct–even if you say you don’t buy into it–has an effect on the brain of all who hear or read it.

Never call it correct again.

It is why, starting in the late 1950’s, you started to see small changes. No longer did textbooks, movies, or media refer to America as a Republic; we were a democracy, because Krushev knew that that word would cause the easily led to be more inclined to vote Democratic, which was just the lip-glossed version of Communism. Hitler’s Nazis? THEY WERE SOCIALISTS. They were on the left of the spectrum, which is one reason Hitler and Stalin HATED each other. You can only have one Communist leader, and they both wanted it. But so thoroughly did Krushev’s Kronies take over the three commonalities of America that we now refer to the Nazis as “fascists,” which he taught his people to call any unpopular or brutal regime rather than “Communist.”

That one worked as well.

Western Media Swallowing Chinese Propaganda Whole

-By Warner Todd Huston

Over the weekend, the London Times gave us a foolish headline for a foolish story. The trumpeting headline read, “A seismic shift in China’s relations with West?” This would be momentous news if true of course. But this supposed “seismic shift” was made up of whole cloth, not of any proof of actions by China otherwise. Instead of a story citing a series of decisions given a suitable amount of time to prove that China really has made some sort of shift in relations, it’s all built on an ego stroke the Chinese gave western reporters. This “seismic shift” only exists in the uncritical minds of the western press because they had an easier time of covering this story with less of the usual Chinese restrictiveness. So, they now assume, because the Chinese gave the western press a few minutes of unexpected face time, this must suddenly mean there is a “seismic shift” in relations between the oppressive, murderous Chinese government and the west? The assumption is as simple-minded as it is stupid.

I don’t often get as downright blatant as this, but sometimes one has to just come right out and say it — the western media is filled with stupid people. If this story doesn’t make you a believer that too many in the media don’t have the good sense God gave a common rock, nothing will ever convince you. This story has it all; self-congratulatory arrogance, ignorance of history, foolishness, blindness and the willful appeasement of one of the worst, most oppressive governments in human history.

The story started off as if being told by a rock star’s groupie telling her drugged out pals that she was allowed backstage to see her idol for a little face time.

Our correspondent was allowed personal access to China’s Prime Minister as he pledged openness and invited foreign journalists to a town at the epicentre

Apparently the reader is supposed to gulp in amazement that the Times’ correspondent “was allowed personal access to China’s Prime Minister.” “Gosh,” you are supposed to say to yourself, “how wonderous!” Feel blessed… the Times seems to.

Appeasing Hitler ‘Not Unreasonable’?

-By Warner Todd Huston

In an effort to back up Obama’s gaffe that he’ll “talk” to anyone, even terrorists, as if diplomacy in and of itself was a cure all, editorial writer Bruce Ramsey of the Seattle Times has made a gaffe of his own that, in essence, makes the claim that negotiating with Adolf Hitler was perfectly reasonable even as each concession given to him by Europe’s prewar powers obviously gave him every reason to be brave enough to start WWII. Ramsey seems to be trying to justify the appeasement of Hitler in order to give Barack Obama the cover he needs to make his inexperience and naiveté seem less detrimental to his presidential ambitions.

Ramsey is worried, he says, about the “continual reference to Hitler and his National Socialists, particularly the British and French accommodation at the Munich Conference of 1938.” He feels that it was completely reasonable to cave in to Hitler in those days prior to the war.

What Hitler was demanding was not unreasonable. He wanted the German-speaking areas of Europe under German authority. He had just annexed Austria, which was German-speaking, without bloodshed. There were two more small pieces of Germanic territory: the free city of Danzig and the Sudetenland, a border area of what is now the Czech Republic.

We live in an era when you do not change national borders for these sorts of reasons. But in 1938 it was different. Germany’s eastern and western borders had been redrawn 19 years before-and not to its benefit. In the democracies there was some sense of guilt with how Germany had been treated after World War I. Certainly there was a memory of the “Great War.” In 2008, we have entirely forgotten World War I, and how utterly unlike any conception of “The Good War” it was. When the British let Hitler have a slice of Czechoslovakia, they were following their historical wisdom: avoid war. War produces results far more horrible than you expected. War is a bad investment. It is not glorious. Don’t give anyone an excuse to start one.

After all, Ramsey says, Europe didn’t want a war, so just giving in to Hitler was not an “unreasonable” reaction to Hitler’s demands. So, since the rest of Europe couldn’t have realized how ruthless and evil Hitler was, their actions were just fine with Ramsey. If it was fine back then, he obviously imagines, it should be fine today. Since we cannot know the future, he seems to be saying, always caving in to tyrants just in case they won’t turn out to be tyrants should be just fine.

This also seems like Obama’s message.

Questioning Pagan Gospel

-By Thomas E. Brewton

A few things for the high priests of environmental paganism to ponder when they next forgather to worship their own egos.

Barton Bennett sent me a link for Dr. Walter Williams’s column reminding us how far from the truth is the junk science that flourishes like maggots in today’s cesspool of educational ignorance.

So far as I know, the self-anointed main stream news media in the United States have ignored one of the principal reasons for the British Labour Party’s crushing defeat in recent local elections: the public’s recognition, at last, of the devastating economic costs of meeting the carbon emissions standards to be imposed by the socialist commissars in the EU’s Brussels headquarters.

To sense the reaction when citizens finally are brought face-to-face with reality, read the following:
