Aide to Alexi ‘Mob Banker’ Giannoulias Manhandles Videographer

-By Warner Todd Huston

OK, OK, this one has been making the rounds all last week. It shows one of Illinois Democratic Senate candidate Alexi “The Mob Banker” Giannoulias’ staffers pushing around a videographer who was trying to get a look at who was attending a private fundraiser.

Yeah its uncomfortable to watch, but I have to come down on this in a way that is a bit out of orthodox from all the other conservative websites railing about this video. In fact, that’s why I hadn’t posted about it until now.

I just don’t think it’s a big deal that Giannoulias’ people wanted to keep a private function… well, private.

It was a reserved section, it was a by-invite event not open to the general public and the cameraman wasn’t on the guest list. As much as I think Giannoulias is a crook, deserves to be beaten in the election, and would make a horrible Senator if he wins, I think Giannoulias should be able to expect to see a private fundraiser remain private without being harassed about it all.

As far as this one incident goes, I don’t see any there, there. But, I’ll post it anyway and you decide.

Chicago Police Chief Struggles to Justify Daley Gun Ban

-By Warner Todd Huston

Mick Dumke of the Chicago Reader had an interesting report on a recent press conference held by Chicago’s Police Chief, Jody Weis. Dumke said that during the presser Weis struggled to “explain how the gun ban is working” for Chicago. In other words, Weis was at a loss to prove that Daley’s unconstitutional actions are working to make the city safer.

According to Dumke the conference went from discussions of how Weis has taken “3,513 weapons” off the streets, that they are using “analytics” to determine where the crime hotspots are in the city, moving on to the claim that the city has a lower over all crime rating, yet to the ultimate fact that even with all this the death toll is still higher than other cities. “Homicides continue to challenge us,” Weis said.

How one goes from claiming that the Mayor’s gun ban is effective yet the murder rate is still so high is anybody’s guess. And that is just the thing, isn’t it? Assaults are up 2.4 percent over last year. Obviously the supposed gun ban is not effective at all if it were this murder rate would be nonexistent.

Take Action: Tell Governor Quinn to Veto the Budget!‏

From Americans for Prosperity, Illinois….

On May 25, 2010, the Illinois General Assembly shirked their duties by passing an unbalanced budget by adding $3.7 billion in new debt that will be passed on to our children and grandchildren! This new debt adds to our current $13 billion deficit and doesn’t even begin to address the $80 billion plus in unfunded pension liabilities or the billions of dollars in unfunded Medicaid liabilities.

The General Assembly’s decision to borrow against our future, in-lieu of making the tough choices, like where to cut costs and how to rein in spending, is akin to paying off a Master Card bill by charging it to a Visa Card. It’s irresponsible and incompetent!

2nd District: Hayes Issues Position Paper on Israel

From the Hayes for Congress campaign (2nd District)…

CHICAGO: Republican nominee for Illinois 2ndCongressional District Isaac Hayes released the following position paper on the relationship between America and Israel:

Supporting Israel’s Right of Self-Defense

The United States and Israel have a long and trusted friendship. I will continue to support this kind of strong and sincere friendship. Israel has an unfortunate and terrible experience with barbaric guerrilla/terrorist groups on its borders with the Gaza Strip, West bank, and Lebanon. The Israeli armed forces have successfully managed to defeat or curtail these terrorist groups.

Mayor Daley’s Newest Disingenuous Gun Argument

-By Warner Todd Huston

Mayor Richard “King” Daley is at it again, talking through his royal rear-end and simply making things up to push a false theme in order to support his anti-Constitutional gun-grabbing in Chicago.

The Chicago Tribune conducted an interview with his heinous and he uncorked another one of his primo spins on his latest desire to take away his subject’s Constitutional right to self-protection: it’s the “gun lobby” argument again.

In an interview with the Tribune, Mayor Richard Daley acknowledged an uphill battle against the gun industry, which he described as the most powerful lobby in the United States. Even so, he vowed that in the event residents are allowed to have handguns at home, the city would take steps to ensure that officials can account for the weapons.

Uphill battle against the gun industry? What spin, what glorious spin. There isn’t one person, one Supreme Court justice, one gun advocate arguing that Daley’s gun-grabbing is wrong because it hurts “the gun industry.” The “gun industry” has precisely nothing to do with the reasons that the anti-Daley forces are trying to defeat him.

Terrorist Supporting Islamist Group Coming Back to Chicago

-By Warner Todd Huston

While Mayor Richard “King” Daley goes about his important work of destroying Chicagoan’s 2nd Amendment Rights, a terror supporting Islamist organization is again coming to the Windy City to spread its message of jihad and raise money for the cause.

Hizb ut-Tahrir America, a group committed to a world-wide caliphate by which to oppress the world and destroy freedom and liberty, is bringing its newest outrage to Chicago for the second year in a row. The terror supporting group’s second conference, titled “Emerging World Order: How the Khilafah Will Shape the World,” is scheduled to be held on July 11 at the Chicago Marriott Oak Brook.

While Daley might be happy that terror supporters are setting up shop in the city he is attempting to disarm, not everyone thinks this jihadi conference is a good idea.

Hayes Sees Waning Support for Jackson in Recent Poll

From the Hayes for Congress campaign (2nd District)…

CHICAGO: Republican nominee for Illinois 2nd Congressional District Isaac Hayes released the following statement regarding the recent poll by Kankakee City News.

Isaac Hayes believes the recent poll taken by Kankakee City News shows how frustrated the citizens of Illinois Second District are with Congressman Jackson and that they are ready to go against the grain for a long overdue “change of management.” Hayes said, “Our communities must have hope for their future and their children’s future and in order to give them that hope, we must have change.”

Roskam’s Straightforward Fix to Medicare Fraud

From Representative Peter Roskam’s Office (6th District)…

Predictive modeling technology would save billions

“This is not about donkeys. This is not about elephants. This is not about liberals. This is not about conservatives. This is about being smart and using the technology that is available to us, investing in it and deploying that to the benefit of the taxpayers and the seniors that we’re here to protect.’”

Washington – As much as $60 Billion of Medicare claims every year are fraudulent. Rep. Roskam has a straightforward, commonsense solution to fix this. In fact, even Nancy Ann DeParle, the White House’s Director of Health Reform, called him a few weeks before the healthcare vote to learn why his amendment wasn’t included in the healthcare bill. Roskam’s solution involves the same predictive modeling technology that credit card companies and other financial services institutions use to discover fraudulent payments with amazing success – only 0.047% of their $11 trillion in annual transactions are fraudulent.

Old Cop / New Cop: I’ll Take the Past

-By Richard Solita

The modern police officers of today are certainly poles apart from the cop of twenty years ago. For one thing, many claim the progressive police are much more professional and educated than the dinosaurs that walked the streets two decades ago. That may be true, but is that what the public wants? Currently, I live in the Phoenix, Arizona area and have been teaching criminal justice students who reside in the valley of the sun.

In the last five years, I have instructed over 1500 students while discovering their attitudes towards the police is less than distasteful. In some cases, the word hate comes to mind. These students are from all walks of life and all ages. They are not felons or they would not be in a criminal justice program. They are members of the general public. So, let’s differentiate between the public in general and the criminal element of society.

In the world of policing, these two categories are certainly separate. The public in general mostly commit crimes of domestic violence, disturbances, and a traffic violation or two. But, in the world of the criminal, he or she commits crime after crime, probably on a weekly basis. Thus, the above facts places the individual students of criminal justices programs in the group of general public and not in the category the police refer to as the criminal element of society.

Alan Dershowitz Endorses Joel Pollak for Congress (Ill., 9th)

From the Pollak for Congress campaign (9th District)…

Today I am pleased to welcome Prof. Alan Dershowitz to Chicago, and humbled to receive his endorsement in the race for the 9th congressional district. It is an honor to be one of the few Republicans that Prof. Dershowitz, a life-long Democrat, has supported. And it is a privilege to welcome a sold-out audience to our fundraising luncheon today–200 enthusiastic supporters from both sides of the political divide.

Prof. Dershowitz is an inspiration to me, and to so many others. His book Chutzpah was the first political work I ever read. Later, at Harvard, I was his student and research assistant. We have worked together in debating the fiercest enemies of the U.S.-Israel relationship. Whether standing up for Israel or standing up against corruption, I have tried to emulate Prof. Dershowitz’s courage, and his refusal to yield to political bullying.

Lake County: Another Fake Republican Running in Local Race?

-By Warner Todd Huston

These are the kinds of underhanded games played on voters that really make me despair that the is a single honest Democrat in the world — or maybe even a single honest politician in general. Nancy Thorner writes of the fake candidacy one Mike Clark in the 58th State Rep. District which is mostly in Lake County, Ill.

As it happens Clark’s original filing papers identify him as a Democrat as well as a resident of Cook County, yet he’s running as a Republican/independent. Thorner surmises that Clark is just another one of those dirty tricks, another one of those oh-so-common Democrat fake candidates foisted on voters to confuse them and to get them to split up the vote in order to help a particular candidate.

In this case, the Democrats want the Republicans to split their votes between fake candidate Clark and legitimate Republican candidate Lauren Turelli — who ran unopposed in the GOP Primary — so that incumbent Democrat Karen May will again win in November.

In 2009 Video Blago Said Prosecutors Wanted ‘Sh*t on Obama’

-By Warner Todd Huston

Back in 2009 a video compilation of clips of impeached Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was posted on YouTube. Today folks are realizing that this video features Blago claiming that the reason prosecutors went after him was to get information on President Obama.

On the video made at a book signing party at Columbia College, Blago is seen saying the following:

“…part of what they wanted was shit on Obama. They lock you up. They do this shock and awe bullshit. They arrest everybody ok, and then they sit you down and say ‘you are a nice guy. We want to work with you. What can you tell us about Obama.'”

(Caution, language warning)

So, now Blagojevich is claiming that the reason prosecutors came after him is because they somehow wanted to attack Barack Obama? And, what, he was standing up like a dutiful soldier to protect the president?

Give me a break. This guy will say anything to try and shift the light of truth away from his actions and onto his multiple conspiracy theories.

ILL. GOP Demotes Two That Voted for Giant Pensions Loan

-By Warner Todd Huston

Two of the three Republicans that broke with party leadership and voted in favor of the Democrats idea to take out a massive loan to shore up the union pensions of state employees have been demoted from their party positions.

Danville area Representative Bill Black had his role as deputy minority leader taken from him by GOP leader Tom Cross over the “yes” vote on the pension bailout loan. Similarly, Representative Bob Biggins of Chicago-area Elmhurt was removed as minority spokesman for the House appropriations committee.

Both Republican representatives thumbed their nose at the party establishment and voted for the bailout supported by Democrats. curiously enough, before their Democrat supporting votes both had also announced that they are retiring from state government this year.

What this shows is that neither of these two were ever solid Republicans that always voted their conscience. Only when they’d decided to hang up their career did they all of a sudden start voting against Republican interests. Only now that they don’t have to stand for election does their true, liberal selves come out.

It would not be surprising if Black and Biggins start voting for all sort of left-wing garbage as their last days in office draws neigh.

Sad to see long Republican careers end in such hypocrisy, isn’t it?

New Entrant into Ill. Race for U.S. Senate?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Greg Hinz of Crain’s is reporting that there’s a new candidate about to enter the race for Barack Obama’s old senate seat and he says he’s already got both the petition signatures and $1 million to spend on the race. He is west side mortgage broker Mike Niecestro.

The self-funded, self-proclaimed “disgusted Republican” and conservative says that there isn’t any difference between the two current candidates.

“There is no difference between Mark Kirk and Alexi Giannoulias,” Mr. Niecestro said in an e-mail. “Mark Kirk would not support the Arizona (immigration) law. I will. Mark Kirk voted for cap and trade. …I am a disgusted Republican who has had it with the people the party throws at us.”

Well, there’s no real way to dispute Mr. Niecestro’s characterization of Mr. Kirk. I have always called him a 45 percenter. Kirk votes with Republicans only 45 percent of the time on the major issues. He leans center left, not center right.

Nicestro is running as an independent but he is also running as a conservative. In fact, his slogan on the main page of his website is, “a conservative voice who will put government back in the hands of people like you…”

A Wonderful Example of Fascism at Chicagoland Radio and Media Message Board

-By Warner Todd Huston

The fascist way that the left deals with opinion differing from its own is just one of the many reasons why the left in America today is so hypocritical. Aside from the oppressive aire of our Universities and colleges no better example of the quashing of opposing views can be seen than on Internet message boards. And on the Chicagoland Radio and Media website we have as perfect an example as one can find.

The altercation that revealed a leftist’s fascist fascination with quashing differing opinion happened in a discussion analyzing a Chicago radio station’s relative political bent. This altercation occurred between the owner of the board me, a fellow that goes under the fake name “Larz.” (I posted under my own, full name.)

Over the years I have become wary of anyone that refuses to use his proper name on the web. Though I have done so in the past myself, I have shied away from it as time has progressed. It’s one thing to be just a commenter on a site using a fake Internet handle, but when it comes to people that wish to run major websites anonymously, that always makes me suspicious of their motives and veracity. We start off right away with a deficit of trust when people run sites under cutesy names. And after seeing the skewed “opinion” of this “Larz” fellow, trust is definitely a forlorn hope.

As I was saying we were discussing the political leaning of one of Chicago’s largest radio stations. It is, of course, a lefty station. Now, it isn’t that the station is a politics talk station, it isn’t, its programming is more for lite entertainment than politics. But the station is in downtown Chicago and politics is naturally a common topic of discussion. In fact it is almost a daily topic with one host or all.

Chicago Alderman Solis Calls Americans ‘Nazis’

-By Warner Todd Huston

If you are interested in the rule of law, if you are someone who upholds the Constitution, or someone that believes in the sovereignty of America’s borders, Chicago Alderman Danny Solis wants you to know that you are a Nazi. That’s right Moreno thinks you are “wrong,” and you are “evil” if you want to uphold federal laws.

Naturally, Alderman Solis is a pandering, uninformed, loudmouth trying to make points with other people that hate America just like he does.

On June 9, the Chicago City Council voted to boycott companies from Arizona because of that state’s decision to institute its “tough new immigration law,” as the Sun-Times puts it.

Solis ignorantly railed against Arizona in the meeting. “This law is wrong. It’s evil. It [harkens] back to, what I consider to be one of the worst episodes of this world when Nazi Germany was able to identify a particular group of people by [passing] laws that were only the beginning of something that was monstrous,” he blurted out.

Ill. Policy Institute: ‘Ass to Kick’

“So I Know Whose Ass to Kick”

Gallup says Republicans in Lead – Keep the Momentum!‏

From the office of Representative Peter Roskam (6th District)…

It’s hard to believe but the November elections are just five months away and we have a critical task ahead – restoring a conservative Republican majority to the House of Representatives. This feat that once appeared to be out of reach is now well within our grasp if we keep our momentum going strong.

A new poll last week found that Republicans have opened their widest lead yet when it comes to which party voters prefer this fall. Gallup’s generic congressional ballot finds that the number of voters who say they will vote Republican has jumped to 49 percent, compared with 43 percent for Democrats. That’s not only the biggest lead Gallup has recorded for the GOP this election cycle – it’s the largest lead Republicans have ever had in the poll since it began in 1950.

I’d like to highlight some stark truth that Mr. Rauschenberger uttered that night about the particular failures of the Democrat Speaker of the Illinois House, Mike Madigan. Rauschenberger thinks we should have impeached Madigan instead of Blagojevich.

“Mike Madigan has been Speaker of the Illinois House for 28 of the last 30 years. He is the architect of the worst funded public pensions in America. It’s time we hold the Chicago bosses accountable.”

This Tuesday, the Cook County Board voted to authorize the use of red light cameras at 30 different intersections in Cook County (9 of which will be located in Schaumburg and Elk Grove). ShoreBank Rally on Wednesday at Noon‏

From Tea Party Patriots Chicago…

We’re holding a rally against the ShoreBank bailout on Wednesday, June 9 at noon outside the downtown location of ShoreBank at 134 N. LaSalle Street, across the street from City Hall. Joel Pollak, candidate for U.S. Congress (IL-9), and Isaac Hayes, candidate for U.S. Congress (IL-2), are scheduled to speak at the rally. We will be handing out fliers to educate the public on the corrupt, politically connected bailout of ShoreBank.

ShoreBank has received $35 million in stimulus funds, $75 million from companies that have received bailout money (Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, GE), and now they’re hoping to receive another $75 million in taxpayer money. ShoreBank provided Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Trinity United Church with a $10 million line of credit – now they need a bailout. We hope this rally can bring attention to this issue and help prevent this looting of our treasury. ShoreBank is attempting to cash-in on their connections with Barack Obama, Jan Schakowsky, Robert Creamer, Dick Durbin, Van Jones and more. At the very least, no taxpayer money should go to ShoreBank until there is a forensic audit of their finances.

Steve Rauschenberger Officially Launches Bid for 22nd District State Senate Seat

-By Warner Todd Huston

Steve Rauschengerger held the State Senate seat of the 22nd District for many years until he bowed out to make a run for Governor in 2006. Since that time Rauschenberger imagined that he had hung up his political hat, never to run again. That was until the current General Assembly retired for the Summer without a final budget. It was then that he knew he had to run again.

“This is the worst situation in Springfield I can ever imagine,” Rauschenberger said after his kickoff address to a crowd of about 75 people in his Elgin campaign office on Douglas Avenue. The Chicago-based leadership “felt politics were more important” than coming up with a balanced budget, Rauschenberger said.

“There are 48 other states that have a balanced budget,” Rauschenberger said, noting that the only other state in as dire a situation as Illinois is California, which has a $16 billion budget deficit.

Good luck to Mr. Rauschenberger.
