Here is How Many Times Did Jay Leno Slam Clinton, Bush or Obama

-By Warner Todd Huston

With Jay Leno ending his 22-year stint as host of NBC’s Tonight Show this week, The Center for Media and Public Affairs took the time to add up how many times he made fun of Presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama and found that Clinton came in as the most ribbed Prez.

Bill Clinton rang in with 4,607 Tonight Show jokes making him the most joked about President. This might only make sense as Clinton was always there to make fun of since the first day Leno took over the show. While both Bush and Obama were around less time to serve as targets.

Maybe unsurprisingly, the next most slammed president was George W. Bush at 3,239 jokes. Next came Al Gore at 1,026 pokes with Obama coming in at 1,011. Hillary Clinton brought up fifth place with 939 jokes.

AP Asks Cheney’s Doctors if They Stopped Beating Their Wives Yet

-By Warner Todd Huston

Like Jerry Seinfeld, the Associated Press did a masterful job of making a story out of nothing this weekend after news broke that former Vice President Dick Cheney was the recipient of a heart transplant.

In fact, APs first paragraph is one of those masterful bits of psychological manipulation along the lines of the old rhetorical trick that goes: “when did you stop beating your wife?”

With its first paragraph the AP cast doubt on the propriety of Cheney getting a heart transplant, raised the specter of Cheney getting “special treatment” (even while denying he did) and played the age card to boot pointing out that many “thousands of younger people” are still waiting while Cheney is now walking around with a new heart.

The nerve of that guy.

Cheney: Say, Shouldn’t Obama Apologize to Bush, Now?

-By Warner Todd Huston

It’s a good question, isn’t it? On a whole host of questions, too, not just the one that former VP Dick Cheney was referring to on CNN.

On CNN, Cheney was talking about the Predator Drone attack that last week killed al Qaeda mastermind Anwar al-Awlaki and his cohort Samir Khan. Cheney reminded the CNN audience that Obama slammed the Bush administration for “overreacting to 9/11.” And Cheney thought that Obama owed the whole country an apology for his characterization…

Colin Powell: Big Fat Liar

-By Warner Todd Huston

Colin Powell’s reply to what he called a “cheap shot” in former Vice President Dick Cheney’s new book, “In My Time,” is little but an example of “dishonesty” that is “quite stunning,” as far as Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post is concerned.

Powell was upset over the way Cheney described the supposed leak of Valerie Plame as a CIA operative. The former Sec. of State said that the former VP delivered a “cheap shot” to say that the outing of Plame was Powell’s fault and the fault of his underling at the State Dept., Richard Armitage.

Then Powell goes on to offer his own version of the incident. Sadly, what he proffered is filled with inaccuracies. Truthfully, there is no other way to characterize Colin Powell’s version of the Valerie Plame affair but as an outright lie…

CPAC 2011 Photos — Cheney and Rumsfeld NOT Badly Treated

-By Warner Todd Huston

Note: Check in on my Twitter feed throughout the weekend as I live Tweet from CPAC. I’ll be Tweeting some of the speeches and the goons on here. http://twitter.com/warnerthuston

The first day at CPAC was quite interesting. I met Donald Rumsfeld, actress and comedienne Victoria Jackson, Newt Gingrich, Herman Cain, Rick Santorum, and several others.

One thing about yesterday that is being incorrectly reported is the reception that Donald Rumsfeld and former Vice President Dick Cheney received. Many reports are claiming that when Cheney mounted the stage to introduce Rummy he was booed by an almost equal number of attendees that clapped and cheered for him. This is incorrect. There were but a small smattering of boos and catcalls for Cheney. 90 percent of the crowd loved seeing him there.

Those Unhinged ‘Tea Baggers’ Are so Un-American

I am about sick to my stomach over all the ill-tempered protest signs and the over-the-top rhetoric from all these “tea baggers,” man. It’s a good thing that the left is so patriotic and level-headed. Why THEY would NEVER act like morons, half-wits, and the unhinged. They are logical, dispassionate, intellectual even. Leftists are all about the zen of good sense, ya know? No conspiracy theories nor strawman arguments. No idiotic, wild-eyed claims for them, nosiree. The left is too smart for that.

Right…

A Trip Down Memory Lane, Film by Evan Coyne Maloney

Uh…. oh…. oops. I can’t find ANYTHING from the tea party groups that come anywhere NEAR that sort of unhinged leftism. Hmmmmm. Maybe the tea party guys aren’t as unhinged as the media is trying to portray them as?

AP Lauds Story of Big Anti-Cheney Petition Drive… of 150 Signatures?

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Associated Press must have thought that it had quite a story on its hands when it published “Protest brews over Cheney center at Univ. of Wyo.” After all, it had Dearth Cheney, protesters, a university and a petition drive to keep the evil VP at bay. It was all the makings of a good story of “controversy” of the Bush/Cheney years. Apreantly the era of hope-n-change has not quite depleted the APs desire to rehash the Bush years.

As it happens, the Cheney family is donating $3.2 million to the University of Wyoming for the new Cheney International Center that is being built on the Laramie campus. This donation was a result of several installments that Mr. Cheney made while he was vice president.

The AP starts out with its strongest shot over the former vps bow.

The Plame Blame Game, for Real

-By John Armor

The Associated Press reported today (Friday) that lawyers for certain detainees at the Gitmo Prison in Cuba, possibly violated federal criminal law by releasing the identity of CIA covert operatives. The current Justice Department investigation connects to both the Valerie Plame matter a few years ago, and the current issue of where and how Gitmo detainees should be charged and tried.

First, the Plame affair. According to the mainstream media, that was about the “outing” of a CIA “covert operative” in violation of federal law. But that law applied only to people who had been a covert operative “within five years.” The only person who identified her as a CIA covert operative within five years of her service was her husband, who let the cat out of the bag in a Who’s Who entry.

She wasn’t outed by anyone, per the law. And it turned out further that the person who gave her name and status to Bob Novak for his column, was the
Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell. What Administration he represents, and even what party, depends on when those questions are asked.

Vindictive Former Clinton Lewinski Lawyer Out for Cheney’s Head

-By Warner Todd Huston

Lanny Davis Wants it both ways: truth commissions without the truth commissions

In a recent Washington Times editorial, former Clinton Special Council Lanny Davis has decided that former vp Dick Cheney should be brought up on charges even though he has formerly spoken against such prosecutions. Why the sudden flip flop? Apparently his only reason is that Cheney has had the audacity to appear on a few TV talk shows to defend himself.

It is somewhat ironic that Davis, with Clinton a man that appeared all over TV during the Lewinski scandal to defend themselves, is upset that Cheney is appearing all over TV to defend himself. But the sad thing is that Davis has had to twist himself into a pretzel to excuse his revenge against Cheney. Davis’ legal logic leaves quite a bit to be desired with this about face.

Here is what Davis claimed changed his mind from opposing these destructive truth commissions to now accepting them:

APs Cheney Analysis: We Read His Mind And Decided What He Really Means

-By Warner Todd Huston

Did you know that former vice president Dick Cheney is speaking out only because he is trying to protect his legacy? Well just in case you wondered about it Steven Hurst for the Associated Press wants to assure that he has read Cheney’s mind and it’s all settled. This is what passes for “analysis” at the AP.

The AP has also decided that Cheney speaking out causes “chagrin” in a GOP trying to “rebuild the tattered party.” Additionally, he AP throws out that much bandied liberal canard that Cheney is dishonoring “protocol” by speaking out because, you see, former chief executives always remain silent about presidents that follow them. Right Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Al Gore? Riiiight?

Oh, and one more thing: did you know that Cheney was “unpopular”? Well, just in case you forgot, the AP kindly reminds you. After reading this anti-Cheney attack piece, one wonders if the AP is now just letting White House flacks write its copy for it. It probably saves the AP some time, anyway.
