We Should be More ‘British’ Says Tory Cameron – So Should Americans!

-By Warner Todd Huston

Several years ago, I wrote an article in which I urged our school systems to teach Americanism so that we could reestablish our American culture. I remember several letters scolding me for this notion, but I got far more agreeing with my main point; without our shared American culture we cannot stand as a nation.

I got one letter from a Brit extolling the virtues of his country saying that they didn’t “need to be British.” He said that it was fully accepted that being British was a meaningless construct and they didn’t need to be “British” there like we need to be “American” here. He was proud that they were somehow past all that “stuff and nonsense.”

Then came the bombings of 7/7.

Now comes the young leader of the British Conservatives, David Cameron, making the self-same argument I made back in 2002, but for his own countrymen. He feels they must be taught “Britishness” once again.

It Has Been Interesting

-By Gregory Stewart

Well, it has been an interesting few weeks of news. In the past few weeks, the president wrote an executive order that essentially says (see link here), “This policy establishes “National Essential Functions,” prescribes continuity requirements for all executive departments and agencies, and provides guidance for State, local, territorial, and tribal governments, and private sector organizations in order to ensure a comprehensive and integrated national continuity program that will enhance the credibility of our national security posture and enable a more rapid and effective response to and recovery from a national emergency” In other words, without the legalese the President has the authority to declare martial law in order to coordinate “national resources” both public and private stave off critical falls of the economy and to centralize authority…

It has been an interesting few weeks, a team of foreign nations planned to blow up the fuel line of JFK International Airport (see link here), and if that is not enough, we have an immigration bill (see link here) that looks like the best compromise, because both extremes of the political aisle hate it,. But, upon further review it has some major flaws that need to be addressed before its passage. For instance, the twenty-four background check should be expanded to ninety-six hours (four business work days) to verify a person’s identity and criminal history. This will enable official the opportunity to full assess an alien criminal history and status….

Making English the National Language

I’ve written about this about a dozen times these past few years. And here we are again with such a proposal. We get them nearly every year and every year Congress does nothing about them.

So here is the newest attempt:

English proposed as ‘national’ language

WASHINGTON, June 1 (UPI) — The U.S. Senate may consider making English the national language, not the common language included in immigration reform legislation.

The proposal from Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., would reduce the government services provided in languages other than English, the Washington Times reported Friday.

There is not an entitlement for language, other than the English language, to be given to people who want government services, Inhofe told the Times.

Many Democrats oppose the measure, which would lift President Bill Clinton’s executive order encouraging government services to be delivered in different languages, and its fate as an amendment to the immigration bill was uncertain.

The immigration bill would require former illegal aliens to show they had applied to take an English class after four years with a visa. They would have to pass the English requirement on the citizenship exam before getting a green card.

If we are proposing a “path to citizenship” then the sign posts on that path MUST be in English…. or NO citizenship.

Let’s hope that THIS time the idea gets through the heads of our Congress.

If I may quote a great American sage:

“If at first you don’t succeed, keep on succin ’til you do succeed!”

Immigration: Solutions, Not Excuses

By Selwyn Duke

One frailty of man is that he is very adept at finding excuses to justify laziness and irresponsibility. There’s no point helping people because everyone is just out for himself anyway. Why study or work? I mean, no one is going to give me a break. I won’t take care of myself because you’ve got to die of something. We can’t deport 12-20 million illegal aliens.

I could point out that the word “can’t” never used to be in the American vocabulary. I could mention that members of the “can’t” set find it entirely possible to tax 100 million people and then transfer the money in hand-outs to 80 million others. Some of them even aspire to control the health care of 300 million Americans through government. Why, their ambitions just seem to grow with the size of the big government scheme.

There are two truths here. First, if ancient Egyptians could build the pyramids, if ancient Chinese constructed the Great Wall, we can deport any number of invaders and keep them out.

The second truth is that we don’t have to.

Immigration Reform Begins in Mexico

-By Frank Salvato

As the debate over the issue of immigration reform rages, we would all be wise to examine, honestly, the reasons why more Mexicans emigrate to the United States than die in Mexico each year. While the common argument is that they come here seeking work, the true root of the problem is that the Mexican government has allowed corruption to reach such alarming levels – in both government and business – that the average Mexican cannot survive within the borders of his own country.

The above statement is not an exaggeration. In 2006, 559,000 Mexican nationals emigrated from Mexico to the United States while the Mexican Demographics Agency reported a total of 501,000 deaths among Mexico’s population. The question that begs to be asked regarding the massive emigration is why?
Mexico is a country rich with natural resources. With its wealth of petroleum, silver, copper, gold, lead, zinc, natural gas and timber, it has all the resources a country would need to keep it from becoming a destitute Third World country.

Further, the median age in Mexico is 25.6 years of age and the literacy rate for the total population is at 92.2%. This demographic, combined with their abundant natural resources and central location in the Western Hemisphere, are a perfect catalyst for an employment sector that would – under normal circumstances – compete on the First World economic stage.

Why They Won’t Assimilate

By Selwyn Duke

In the piece I recently wrote about the threat posed by immigration, both illegal and legal, I mentioned that today’s immigrants are not assimilating into our culture. And, as I pointed out, since Ted Kennedy’s Immigration Reform Act of 1965 has created a situation in which 85 percent of our immigrants hail from the Third World and Asia, this portends the destruction of the western civilization that has given us everything we hold dear, from our freedom to our prosperity.

With Moslems and Mexicans on the march from Maine to Monterey, this should be obvious. Yet, the gravity of this situation still eludes many, sedated as they are with bread and circuses. So let’s discuss assimilation.

Assimilation is not a process magically initiated upon setting foot on American terra firma. Rather, it only occurs when one or both of two conditions are met: The foreign elements must have a desire to assimilate or the host nation must place pressure on them to do so. Unfortunately, neither is the case today because both immigrants and native-born Americans are far different than they once were.

The Real Immigration Threat

By Selwyn Duke

Most of us will publicly lament our immigration woes, but not without a disclaimer. “Look, I have no problem with immigration,” say we, “I just want people to come here legally.” This, after all, is supposed to be the sober, sane, American point of view, as we “know” that immigration is the lifeblood of the U.S.A. Personally, I can sympathize with this perspective. Western civilization has become old, tired and decrepit; it’s a mere shadow of its former self, running on fumes and on empty. Perhaps its time for it to be euthanized.

I just want it done legally.

Now I’ll transition from a wise-guy to a guy who waxes wise. You should be outraged by the pandering to the illegal alien lobby, and I’ll unabashedly say that the three most important factors in immigration policy are deportation, deportation and deportation. Still, to focus our eyes narrowly on just illegal immigration is to lament only the salt thrown into the wound while accepting the wound itself. Illegal immigration is not the problem.

It’s an exacerbation of the problem.

Falling Home Construction Market in USA Hurts Mexico?

-By Warner Todd Huston

In Sunday’s paper, the L.A.Times has a piece that mourns a downturn of a portion of Mexico’s economy and, naturally, the Times blames the USA for it. How is it that the USA is responsible for this downturn? New home construction is down in California and illegal Mexicans have found themselves out of work because of it. This means that these out of work Mexicans cannot send US dollars to Mexico and, therefore, Mexican families back home are finding less money in their family incomes.

So, according to the L.A.Times, the US is unfairly hurting Mexican families because of a downturn in new home building in the USA. Why are we Americans so darn mean to those innocent illegals, anyway? For shame you selfish Americans!

A man named Fred

-By Melanie Morgan

I’ve seen him in real life; just outside the ABC broadcast facilities in Washington, D.C., where he exited after taping a broadcast for Paul Harvey’s “News and Comment.”

I nearly sprained my neck looking up and trying to take in his 6-foot 6-inch frame.

He didn’t look well that day. At dinner the previous evening, Thompson had contracted food poisoning. The D.C. bureau chief told me that despite his obvious discomfort, he had nonetheless posted his segment. In my business, that counts for a lot. Deadlines are everything.

So, what do we know about Fred Thompson and his possible candidacy for the highest office in the land?

Geraldo and O’Reilly Almost Come to Blows!! Both Lose Cool

Simply wow, is all I can say to the segment on last night’s O’Reilly Factor. Both of them lost their cool in the extreme.

O’Reilly screams that Geraldo wants “anarchy”, Geraldo yells that O’Reilly wants to take illegal aliens and “do something to them” over the story of a drunk illegal who killed two teenaged girls in a Virginia Beach car accident.

I have to say, in my opinion they were both wrong a little and right a little, but neither did his case any good by getting into a shouting match. O’Reilly made it solely an illegal alien issue, and Geraldo completely excused the illegals of all wrongs. O’Reilly had the better point, of course, but both tried to make it a single issue discussion with Geraldo accusing O’Rielly of, in effect, being a racist and O’Reilly screaming that Geraldo might not care about his own teenage girls.

They both lost their cool and looked like raving lunatics, as far as I am concerned.

It Ain’t Too Purty (Like 500 Miles of Busted Concrete)

By R. A. Hawkins

When I look at the current state of affairs in American politics I have to say that it ain’t too purty. I realize that some might immediately think that I’m referring to Pelosi and Hillary when I write like 500 miles of busted concrete (an understandable mistake mind you), but I’m referring to both parties right now. On one side we have the likes of McCain and Giuliani and Romney. And on the other we have a laughable catastrophe. I find little humor in the Republicans’ inclination to emulate Bill Clinton’s tendency to stick a moist finger in the air and see which way the wind is blowing at the moment. So I’ll start on them first.

Giuliani thinks that gun control is a nice idea. I can see one reason why the Republicans might decide to pick him and only one. He got a lot of really nice face time on the tube after 9/11. That’s the only reason I can see for them picking him. The mere fact that he hails from that lofty example of Americana and statehood that voted Hillary and Schumer in is enough to make him useless to any real conservatives. Unless an (R) behind the name is all it takes anymore. Now that brings me to Mitt Romney. He comes from a wonderful place that repeatedly puts the likes of Ted Kennedy and John (I threw medals over the White House fence that’ll show ‘em) Kerry into office. That should count him out right there. Then there is the RINO McCain. I really don’t have much to say about him that’s good so I’ll drop it. On the other hand…what a doof! Make it official you dummy! Switch to the Democratic Party! There I said it.

And now for my favorite party: There’s Gore, who may be getting an honorary PhD from some university in Minnesota for being able to read the script to a movie with made up science, which for the university that should be only an “Inconvenient Truth”. Liberals will begin to flock to that place because in the true spirit of liberalism, they’re even giving degrees away. Nice. As a side note it is interesting that the liberals who claim to be the party of Jefferson have tossed FOX News out of the Nevada debates. I think that’s because they’ve refused to read the liberal script. All FOX has to do to counter that cruel maneuver is do a few reruns of ‘Spanky and Our Gang’ at the same time. The Nielson ratings from that would tell the liberals that had been the wrong move to make.

Article Scolding Asian Racist, Misses Key Ingredient

-By Warner Todd Huston

An Asian Writer Copping Jesse Jackson’s Race-baiting Game Attacked By San Francisco Chronicle For ‘Why I Hate Blacks’ Article

There is a saying that is often bandied about by whites feigning what might be ridiculed as an American Black person’s defeatist demeanor. It is used when whites want to make fun of the kind of attitude that assumes everyone in power is somehow out to get you. It goes like this: “I’m tired of the white man keeping me down.” It’s an eye-rolling proclamation, but it is one that many whites assume is inculcated in Black Americans all across the country. Of course it is an unwelcome stereotype.

It is a stereotype, however, that has been adopted as reality in all too real a sense by American Universities and is posited as a raison d’etre for wasting time and money on things like “Black studies” programs. The sentiment is replicated in “Hispanic studies”, “Women’s studies”, and “Gay studies” in equal measures and with as much illegitimacy.

The (insert group here) is keeping you down so rebel against it. Be angry. “Speak truth to power”.

It’s clap-trap, of course.

Mexican Wives Plead for Husbands to Return to Mexico

-By Warner Todd Huston

Think of yourself as a married American man. Imagine you and your wife have decided that you will sneak in to Canada because you feel you cannot do well in America, you cannot earn your fortune.

Now imagine you have been gone years. Perhaps you send money home once in a while. Though, otherwise you don’t do much about contacting your wife and kids. Still, even if you do your wife is raising your children alone. Your children have no memory of you. To them you are only a name on a money gram or a check.

Would your wife like this arrangement? Would you feel you were being a proper Father with this arrangement?

Or is it more likely that she would want you to come home? Don’t you think she would be sick and tired of your absence, even for the money?

Utah’s Teenage Killer, the Muslim Connection Ignored

-By Warner Todd Huston

I have been watching the “reportage” on the regrettable incident of a teenaged killer’s rampage in a Utah shopping mall with mounting interest. In nearly every story of this crime the fact that this youngster is from a Muslim background is either muted or ignored altogether.

The AP, for instance, avoids identifying the boy as a Muslim in all their stories that I saw. In one, they merely identify the region in Bosnia in which he lived as the “northeastern enclave where up to 8,000 Muslim men and boys were slaughtered in 1995” but do not even speculate as to the boy or his family being Muslims. It is all rather dutifully avoided. In another story, the AP doesn’t even use the word Muslim at all.

Even in the local press, like the Utah Desert News, the issue of his background is ignored or made entirely incidental. The Desert News, in fact, makes just one mention that the “family are Muslims from Bosnia who had lived in the vicinity of Sarajevo” in a rather lengthy and otherwise complete story of the incident.

Worse, the New York Times is making the wild assumption that it is “Bosnian immigrants”, not the rest of America, that should be afraid for their lives in theirs titled “Anti-Bosnian Backlash Feared in Utah”.

THE NAME “SAPS in the USA” PREVAILS

-By Vince Johnson

The previous two issues appeared as ads The Mill City Independent Press, a small weekly in Oregon. One was paid for by Students Attending Public Schools in the USA (SAPS in the USA) and the other by Future Voters of America. (FVA) There was a slight uproar over this. Some folks thought such questions were more appropriately asked by “Saps Attending Public Schools in the USA” rather than the “Future Voters of America.” Those who preferred “SAPS in the USA,” said it was easier to recall and it also made sense based on various synonyms of “sap” as listed below:

  • Saps = Exhausts: “Wasteful spending exhausts ones savings.”
  • Saps = Runs down: “Congress always runs down common sense.”
  • Saps = Fools: “Only fools allow politicians to spend their money.”

Each ad asked the President and Congress to answer one question:

Ad #1. What are the ethics of borrowing $8.5 trillion dollars without the permission of those SAPS who will be substantially burdened by this debt as long as they live?

Ad #2. Why are over 3,000 young Americans losing their lives protecting the territorial integrity of the Iraq/Iran border while we are almost totally ignoring the integrity of the border between the USA and Mexico?

England: One Law for Muslims, one for the Rest

-By Warner Todd Huston

England is fast becoming but simple a plot of land floating in the sea instead of a nation of culture guided by a rich legal tradition. It is a tale of warning for the USA, the moral of which is don’t allow minorities to set up a parallel culture or you will cease to be a nation of laws. You will, in fact, cease to be a nation at all.

England is on the verge of having a bifurcated legal system, one for their various religious peoples and one for the rest of the native population. Two recent stories show the degradation of the British legal system and the inequities that it creates.

In a BBC story by Innes Bowen,
The end of one law for all?
, the question is asked: “Ethnic and religious courts are gaining ground in the UK. Will this lead to different justice for different people?”

How could this be that hard to answer?

Palestinian Family ‘Locked Up’ For Immigration Violations

-By Warner Todd Huston

WFAA TV in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas market has been touting a story that they obviously think is some sort of tragedy. So bad, in fact, that the first words of their story are, “‘Inhumanity’ and ‘atrocity’ are just two words being used to describe news…”

One would think that the world was ending, wouldn’t one?

The TV station is wracked up in high dudgeon over a family of Palestinians who are in the country illegally and were scooped up by Immigration officials and remanded to a rather posh housing center to await the outcome of the machinations of government officials trying to determine their fate.
