Indiana Law Gives Citizens Legal Right to Shoot Out-Of-Control Cops

-By Warner Todd Huston

Apparently the State of Indiana has passed a law allowing citizens to use deadly force against out of control officers of the state, including police officers, who unlawfully enter their home. This is a very touchy subject, especially for conservatives. Can we as law and order types agree that such a deadly force law is a good idea? Or should we defer to the police at every instance?

Well, I can’t speak for all conservatives, of course, but for me, I can’t agree with this law more.

Now, before you get all crazy about how I just don’t understand law “enforcement,” let me warn you that my father, a man I dearly love and respect, was in police work for most of his adult life. I am proud of his service. For the most part I respect and sympathize with our officers of the law. So,l et’s get beyond that.

So, while I most certainly sympathize with our law officials, I sympathize with our founders’ vision and the natural rights they invoked more than I do the expectation that officers of the law can act with impunity. That is why I put “enforcement” in quotes. Properly constituted our law officials don’t “enforce” anything. They really only investigate crime, they don’t and shouldn’t proactively try to “enforce” anything as that implies the power to stop something that has yet to occur.

NH Gov. Lynch Pushed for Prison Reform, Now Convicted, Repeat Sex Offender Let go Years Early

-By Warner Todd Huston

A sex offender with multiple convictions and years added to his sentence for not meeting behavior requirements is having his jail time wiped out and is being released early due to a prison “reform” (SB 500) that New Hampshire Democrat Governor John Lynch championed as a cost cutting measure.

Governor Lynch is running for re-election claiming that New Hampshire is safer. That would be news to the several teenaged girls that Michael Seibel molested over the last several years as he is let out years earlier than they expected.

The story is reported by the Conway Daily Sun. The Daily Sun, though, is a by subscription only, so I’ll have to cite redhampshire.com for a reference.

Should Federal Clerks and Archivists Have Guns and Badges?

-By Warner Todd Huston

To attest to the ever more authoritarian nature of our federal government, I give you the stormtroopers of the National Archives who, for some unfathomable reason, have guns, badges and the power to “raid homes.”

The L.A. Times published a story recently detailing the poor state of security of our National Archives holdings. The piece penned by Faye Fiore is one that everyone should read because it details the utter incompetence of our federal government even at so small a level as safeguarding our nation’s historical records and archives. (And we want these nincompoops to take over our healthcare?)

Fiore reveals to her readers that thousands and thousands of our important national documents have disappeared over the decades, stolen by underlings and researchers who then sell them to collectors — not to mention the occasional Democrat operative that steals records to hide them from probing political eyes.

Policing for Profit – The Abuse of Civil Asset Forfeiture

-By Warner Todd Huston

A group called the Institute for Justice (http://www.ij.org/) is doing yeoman’s work alerting everyone to the simply un-American powers that police agencies across the country have been afforded by an out-of-control government. Police agencies have been given ever increasing stormtrooper-like powers to steal your property and assets because they merely suspect you might have gotten it by illegal means. All across the country, from your local Barney Fife’s all the way to your favorite G-Men, police agencies are stealing private property with no trial, no jury, even no actual charges filed in many cases.

The IJ has published a great and ominous report on the abuse of forfeiture laws that is a must read.

Now, the germ of this theft is located in the RICOH-styled laws that were created to materially punish drug dealers outside of the result of long court battles. The initial idea was that drug dealers would be financially devastated as soon as they were apprehended. Cars, homes, money, investments, all summarily taken by what ever policing agency was fortunate enough to hit the jackpot by arresting a drug dealer.

Certainly few people have any sympathy for drug dealers and so, with little protest by voters, these sorts of forfeiture laws spread across the land very quickly. But like anything and everything government does, evil quickly follows the good idea. Road to hell, and all.

Cops Insist on Getting Paid for Dressing Themselves

-By Warner Todd Huston

Here is another reason why unions need to be destroyed…

Do you think your boss should pay you for getting dressed in the morning or for taking off your day’s clothes to climb into your snuggly Pjs each night? No reasonable, sane person would. But unions are neither reasonable, sane, nor apparently interested in what’s good and right. At least the moron unionists in Oakland, California are illicit like that because the thugs of the police union have found some halfwit judge to agree with them that the city… that would mean the taxpayers… should pay them for zipping up their fly each morning and taking off their clothes at the end of each day.

In the height of arrogance, idiocy, and theft of taxes, these Cop thugs have been suing the city to get paid for “donning and doffing,” or in more sensible English, for putting on and taking off their uniforms each day. It’s bad enough these creeps had the gonads to make this idiotic attempt to steal the taxpayer’s money in the first place, but the feckless “legal” system in California has allowed it to go on AND have absurdly given these greedy public servants a victory over it all.

Another Union Thief, This One a Cop

-By Warner Todd Huston

Chicago, Ill. — The president of the Chicago Police Sergeants’ Association has been caught stealing over $600,000 in union funds, authorities say.

Sgt. John Pallohusky, 53, spent the stolen funds on gambling trips, lavish dinners, and online stock trading.

He spent more than $163,000 on Ameritrade and $75,000 at restaurants including Ruth’s Chris, Smith & Wollensky, Kinzie Chophouse, Petterino’s, Gibson’s and Lawry’s, the arrest warrant said.

This is just another example of the illegitimacy of unions, really. This guy has been doing this for two years. Did no one miss all that cash for two years? Were there no other union officials paying attention? And if none of this money was missed for 24 months, WHY does the union need this cash in the first place? Obviously no one needed all that money all this time if no one noticed so much was missing.
