Truing the Voter Rolls, Voter Integrity Project: Many States have More Voters Registered Than Voting-Age Population

True the Vote is proud to announce that it is teaming with Judicial Watch on an election integrity project to pressure the states to clean up voter registration rolls to satisfy Section 8 of the National Voting Rights Act (NVRA), a law that all too many states have been violating for years.

Judicial Watch and True The Vote have sent letters to California, Ohio, Indiana, and Florida — others are also being considered — demanding that they satisfy the law or face lawsuits to attempt to force them to obey the law.

Section 8 of the NVRA requires that each state makes “a reasonable effort” to assure that voter rolls are current and correct but for years many states haven’t purged their voting rolls of people that have passed away, left the state, or are otherwise no longer legitimately enrolled. The result is that many states have more voters on the rolls than they have in voting-age population.

Pay Up America, Each of You Owe The Govt $534,000

Obama will not take a check. You must sign over your homes, your 401k’s, the pink slip to your autos, all your savings…. come on America, be patriotic, pay Obama what you owe him. It amounts to $534,000 per person, so you better get your accounting in order.

Where does this $534,000 number come from? USA Today says that a little known government report pegs the government’s unfunded mandates at $61.6 trillion. Yes, that’s trillion with a “t.” That is the amount of money that all the un-Constitutional spending by the federal government will cost the taxpayers if it all continues to be mandated by law, court orders, regulations, and back room deals made by grasping government officials…

Beware When They Say a Government Program Will ‘Make Money’

The New York Times had a small story that it likely thought was just an amusing little tale of a quirky government program from Los Angeles. Centered on the gift shop run by the L.A County Coroner’s Department, the Times indulged such lines as “we’re dying for your business,” and headlined the piece “Dealing in Death, and Trying to Make a Living.” But one little part of the story should serve as a warning not to believe any politician or government hack that says their office or project will “make money.”

According to the Times the gift shop at the L.A. Coroner’s office was initially started in the early 1990s when a secretary working for the county noticed that mugs and T-shirts with the county coroner’s logo on them were popular items at forensics conferences. The county thought that a gift shop would be a moneymaker and when the coroner’s office floated the idea to the county government it claimed that the money the shop would make would pay for an anti-drunken driving course for teens.

Turns out it’s the ‘tother way ’round.

Feds Build $1 Billion Virginia Office Complex Without Parking Or Roads to Get To It

The federal government has built a one billion dollar office complex in Virginia to house some 6,400 Pentagon workers that are to be moved soon. It’s a beautiful new office complex that rises like a mountain next to Northern Virginia’s I-395. But there are a few little problems. There is no parking for one thing and for another, even if there was a parking lot for 6,400 workers, there are no roads to GET them there!

That’s right, there is no access that won’t cause tremendous traffic jams for the area. Worse, there aren’t any bus or Metro train stops anywhere near the building so workers cannot even take advantage of the Washington area’s extensive public transportation network to get to their new offices.

Since the problem was fully realized the state and the feds have been arguing back and forth about the traffic problem all to no avail. No ramp from the highway has been built because the plan offered put that ramp too close to a nature area and no local roads can handle the additional traffic for 6,000 some workers.

$400 K For State Employee That Never Showed for Work For 12 Years

CNN reports that an employee contracted with the state of Virginia for 12 years seems to have never actually done any work for the agency she was attached to, Norfolk officials say.

This employee was discovered by the new director of the Norfolk Community Services Board who was looking through the office’s records finding the no-show job. Once the new director found this freeloader she was terminated and charges may be filed over the more than $400,000 she was paid for her “work” these last 12 years.

Apparently this woman “worked” for some sort of community program that isn’t run directly by the city that supplies some of its funding. These politically created “jobs” are mandated by law and seem to have little or no oversight.

As They Live off Us, Some Federal Workers Pocket Fraudulent SS Benefits

News has emerged today of an investigation by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) that has discovered hundreds of federal workers who are pocketing fraudulent Social Security disability payments. This is doubly galling, to say the least. Not only are these federal workers living off we the taxpayers, but now they are stealing from us outright.

The Government Accountability Office issued a report that showed at least 1,500 federal employees may have wrongly received benefits. The group’s investigation, which focused on two Social Security programs for people who have limited incomes due to disabilities, found several specific cases in which beneficiaries were earning well above the income cap while still receiving benefits. In one case, a Transportation Security Administration screener was overpaid $108,000, according to the report.

Worse, none of this fraud was uncovered by the Social Security Administration and the internal controls it has set up to catch this sort of stuff.

The GAO also found other fraud.

It’s Easy AND Illegal for a Foreigner to Donate to Obama

There have been quite a lot of stories of late proving that Barack Obama is getting millions of dollars in illegal donations from foreign sources. A fellow I know that posts on one of the websites I am connected with decided to experiment to see if he, as a Briton, could donate to the Obama campaign via the Internet and credit card. We’ll call him Jack for the purposes of this piece.

Of course, it is illegal for a foreigner to donate money to an American political candidate. But there have been many violations of this restriction by the Obama campaign thus far. Obama’s finances have been under fire for well over a year. Have they learned anything after all these illegal donation scandals? To put this to the test, Jack decided to see how easy it would be for him to donate to Obama and MCcain from England.
