Media Fooled by Another Fake Iraq ‘Massacre’ – Perhaps They Want to be Fooled

-By Warner Todd Huston

How many times do we have to see the MSM reporting on a “massacre of Iraqi civilians” that turns out to be a false story planted by our enemies before we can definitively say that the MSM is purposefully aiding and abetting the terrorists? How ever many that may be, the tally is certainly on its way to overflowing and here we have another galling example of the same thing. This time Reuters is caught taking directions from the terrorists and insurgents in Iraq with the tale of “60 decomposed bodies” supposedly found in Baquba by the never identified, amorphous “Iraqi police.”

BAGHDAD, Aug 5 (Reuters) – Iraqi police said on Sunday they had found 60 decomposed bodies dumped in thick grass in Baquba, north of Baghdad.

There was no indication of how the 60 people had been killed, police said.

No indication of how they were killed? Try no indication that they were killed!

Germany Ready to Fight Scientology… But What of Islamofascism?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Germans have found the intense, religious issue of the day that they feel must be fought to the hilt. It’s a matter of a deep consequence and a threat to the safety of the German people. This religious order is a “Militant-aggressive” one that is “a dangerous, extremist organization which has declared war on Europe.”

So, which religion do ya think it is that the Germans are all worried about?

Islam?

Uh, no.

It’s Scientology,

It shouldn’t take much more proof than this that Germans in particular and Europeans in general have a complete lack of understanding of the times in which we live. If Scientology is their biggest fear as Islamofascists are cavorting about the world cutting off heads and blowing up tourist spots killing thousands on a daily basis, then it would seem that these people deserve all the damage that Islam will cause them.

Wisc. Paper: Neocons Want Petraeus for President? Huh?

-By Warner Todd Huston

It’s no wonder that sensible people just shake their heads and wonder what’s wrong with the extremists of the far left when they come up with such off the wall nonsense and then try to pass it off as real political analysis. It just makes people who have even the slightest clue about what is really going on in the world double over with laughter. Such is the case with today’s comedic attempt at political forecasting by nut in residence Ed Garvey of the Madison, Wisconsin Capital Times.

Columnist Garvey, in true nutroots fashion, thinks he has hit on the perfect Neocon conspiracy. The Neocons don’t want any of the current candidates for president. No, sir, they are trying to angle for General Petraeus to take up their Neocon banner!

I know that you’re scratching your head wondering how in Heaven’s name he came up with this one. I did too.

What IS Wrong With Ron Paul?

-By Warner Todd Huston

I have been watching with interest the candidacy of Libertarian Ron Paul. Like many, I’ve been wondering what the heck he is doing in this race in the first place. Let’s face it, even in the GOP field of candidates he doesn’t fit in well. Naturally, he is a whipping boy for the GOP establishment… well, maybe just a laughing stock, would be more accurate. But, there is real substance to Mr. Paul, a substance that is all too easy to gloss over by focusing on his quirks. And he does serve a very important purpose; he helps bring the debate to the right, a necessary pull with Mitt the Malleable and Rudy the lefty in the race.

Being of a libertarian bent myself, I see a lot of merit in Mr. Paul’s focus on taking government out of things as opposed to trying to find new and expansive (not to mention expensive) ways for government to meddle in our lives. His voice is a welcome change in this direction.

However, his chief flaw is his overly simplistic approach to the war — and this is the single most important issue of our day. This is the main reason he is uncredible as a possible president one who, should he be elected, would have to deal far more with foreign threats and diplomacy than that of other, past presidents.

Last Sunday’s debate was a prime example of the unsuitability of his candidacy for our times. From his constant and easily ridiculed use of the word “Neocons” in practically every answer he gave, to his policy suggestion that we “just leave” Iraq as if it were merely a bad movie we could walk out on with no consequences, made him look… well… off his nut.

Hacker Proves How MSM is Fooled by al Qaeda Photochopped Images

-By Warner Todd Huston

At the Black Hat computer Hacker’s conference held in Las Vegas last week, Neal Krawetz of “Hacker Factor” showed how easily the MSM has been tricked into believing the fake images that al Qaeda has offered to further their propaganda. Krawetz specifically referred to two images, one the July 27, 2006 image of al Qaeda second in command al-Zawahiri supposedly sitting in a modern television studio. It was an image that had the tongues of the MSM and pundits alike wagging. How is it, they clucked, that al-Zawahiri could be sitting in a modern television studio yet still could not be found?

Krawetz demonstrated how the elements of the two images, however, are special effects and not real.

Krawetz showed another image of al-Zawahiri from July 27, 2006, showing him seated in what appears to be a television studio. Krawetz said many people who saw this video were outraged that he could sitting in a television studio somewhere, yet the U.S. government couldn’t find him.

Image analysis suggests that the studio and the various pictures positioned in the studio around him were added later. Again, a halo around al-Zawahiri suggests that he was shot in front of a monochromatic screen and pasted into a new background.

The fake TV studio image sure fooled Tucker Carlson of MSNBC’s The Situation Room. On January 30th Tucker said:

I Don’t Dislike Democrats, I Oppose the Progressive-Left

-By Frank Salvato

Too often those who opine on political matters make the mistake of directing their criticism – or accolades – toward a generalized group when in fact the comments are meant for a more specific faction commingled within that group. I, at least on a few occasions, stand guilty as charged. This type of generalization has contributed to the coarse ideological divisions in our country and has become the modus operandi of politicos and pundits alike, from all avenues of political thought. At a time when our nation is embroiled in a critical struggle for survival and in an effort to realize a more cohesive American political and social culture, I believe it may behoove those of us who scrutinize and maintain a comprehensive understanding of politics and events surrounding the elected-class to start correctly identifying the groups with which we take issue.

For the record, the Progressive-Left is an aggressive faction currently ensconced within the Democrat Party. Where most Progressive-Leftists are Democrat (some of the more extreme are Green and even Socialist or Communist), most Democrats are not Progressive-Leftists. In fact, where mainstream Democrats and Republicans are concerned, we, as thoughtful Americans, have much more in common than not, explaining why an overwhelming majority of the American public considers themselves moderate or mainstream in their political leanings.

I do not dislike Democrats. The realty of the matter is that I have many friends who are Democrats. While I have many differences with their ideology and their views for how best to execute the caretaking of our government and country, I don’t dislike them as people. In fact, I embrace and appreciate the opportunity to engage in thoughtful and intellectual debate on issues important to our nation with those of differing opinions. When two or more patriotic and sincere parties set out to express their ideas and concerns regarding the stewardship of our government and the path forward for our nation it can only be described as the quintessential American political experience.

In many cases, when the elected class engages in honest debate, where the true goal of the matter is the well-being of our country and our people, it produces a positive and quality product. Honest, impassioned debate is what established the floors of the US House of Representatives and the US Senate as two of the greatest debating platforms in history.

Encroaching Demands from a “Religion of Peace”

By Marie Jon’

America and the world at large are facing a threat that could impact our ways of life in many aspects. In America, the freedoms we enjoy — and our very lives — could well become just a memory in the near future.

Our Judeo-Christian beliefs are up against the tyrannical mindset of extremists within Islam. Some call it radical Islam. However, that is up for debate in the minds of many. Could it be that Islam itself is the inherent problem?

Islam’s holy book, the Koran, puts forth a message of hate and total intolerance. Those who are partakers of the faith of Islam are vehemently taught that all people who are not Muslim are infidels. Some within their differing Islamic faith often suffer at the hands of other practicing Muslims. All one has to do is look at Iraq to see the death toll of citizens come from Islamic people who kill their own — other Muslims — in the name of Jihad.

Who are the people who practice this faith living within our cities and towns? Are we in a state of dangerously naïve denial?

Excerpts from The Christian Science Monitor:

“In Europe, skylines reflect the rise of Islam”
By Isabelle de Pommereau, Correspondent

“After decades of worshiping in basements and courtyards, Muslims are building hundreds of new mosques across the continent.

“Where steeples once reigned: In Germany alone, 184 new mosques are under construction, including this one in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district.

“Wiesbaden, Germany — In the Rhine Valley city of Mannheim, the glittering minaret of Germany’s biggest mosque overshadows what was once the region’s most vibrant church, testifying to Muslims’ new confidence as Christian churches are closing down.

“Years ago, 180 sisters of the Catholic order of the Sisters of the Divine Savior were the pulse of the city. Today, eight remain. Every weekend, roughly 150 Roman Catholics attend mass at the Liebfrauen Church, while up to 3,000 Muslims throng the Yavuz-Sultan-Selim mosque. Since the mosque was opened in 1995, Muslim shops and youth centers have become a magnet for the Muslim community.

“Mannheim is not unique. Across Europe, the Continent’s fastest-growing religion is establishing its public presence after decades in basements and courtyards, changing not only the architectural look of cities, but also their social fabrics.

“Hailed by many as a sign of Muslim integration, the phenomenon is also feared as evidence of a parallel Islamic world threatening Europe’s Christian culture.

Emphasis on US Mideast Policy Should Be Liberty, Not Democracy

-By Frank Salvato

The recently released Benchmark Assessment Report mandated by the US Troop Readiness, Veterans’ Care, Katrina Recovery, and Iraq Accountability Appropriations Act, 2007 (HR2206/PL110-28) states that the common goal for both the US and Iraqi governments is a democratic Iraq that can govern, defend, and sustain itself, and be an ally in the War on Terror. All of these goals are achievable. The problem is, while some are achievable within a reasonable amount of time, where US intervention is concerned, at least one goal should be considered lofty: the goal of achieving a functional, democratic Iraqi government.

There are myriad reasons why US troops should not be prematurely withdrawn from the Iraqi battlefield. Two of the chief reasons revolve around genocide and the overall war against Islamofascism.

Embracing the reality that history has provided us, the premature withdrawal of US & Coalition Forces would create a perfect opportunity for nefarious forces to initiate the genocide of millions of purple-fingered Iraqis who braved death for democracy. Foreign terrorist entities, such as al Qaeda, along with encroaching foreign governments and Ba’ath Party loyalists, would take the opportunity of a US withdrawal – the chief stabilizing force committed to the region – to cull Western leaning Iraqis in one of the worst genocides since Hitler’s campaign to eliminate Jews from the face of the earth.

NY Daily News Misleads About Bush Linking Iraq and 9/11

-By Warner Todd Huston

The New York Daily News perpetrated an interesting, yet subtly misleading headline about president Bush’s Charleston, South Carolina speech on Al Qaeda in Iraq today in theirs titled “W still ties Iraq, 9/11.” Following the left’s playbook of claiming Bush has illicitly linked Saddam’s Iraq to 9/11 their headline made it seem as if Bush, indeed, “still ties” 9/11 to Iraq.

It is, of course, a false claim that Bush linked Iraq to 9/11 either then OR now, but the New York Daily News doesn’t seem too interested in the truth. And for the headline to say “still ties” they are certainly saying that Bush is using past tense verbiage. But, for the most part, Bush is clearly talking present tense in his speech and he still never linked “Iraq” to “9/11” in the way the Daily News headline seems to claim.

The defeatist’s of the left have always claimed that Bush said Saddam Huessein was responsible for 9/11 and that he used that claim to invade and pursue regime change in that oppressed nation. But, there is no speech in which Bush claimed that Saddam was responsible for 9/11… he just never said it. This is a lie that the left has promulgated since Bush announced we were going into Iraq. As the saying goes, “A lie will go round the world while truth is still pulling its boots on”, and this “Bush lied” lie has practically won the footrace with the truth.

Contrary to what the Daily News is trying to mislead everyone into thinking, if one actually reads Bush’s July 24th speech he still did not really link “9/11” to “Iraq.” What Bush really did was link al Qaeda, the al Qaeda that is in Iraq today, to the same network controlled by Osamma bin Ladden, the very same bin Ladden that did take credit for perpetrating 9/11. Bush’s entire focus in his speech was on al Qaeda in Iraq today, not the Iraq of 9/11/2001.

In the Daily News’ phrasing, though, Bush is talking about the Iraq of 9/11, not the Iraq of today.

Islam America’s ‘Greatest Strength’?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Outrageously, Newsweek has published a so-called “special report” in which Muslim Americans are called “one of this country’s greatest strengths,” but, Newsweek worries, that they are now ” vulnerable as never before.” Yes, America, as far as Newsweek is concerned it is YOU, not Islam, that is the problem and therein lies the main reason why the west seriously misunderstands the war in which we are engaged, and why we could lose it.

As to the first claim, Newsweek offers not a single reason in their report why Muslims might be one of our “greatest strengths,” but of the claim of how “vulnerable” they are, Newsweek drones on and on endlessly. Naturally, Newsweek puts the onus on Americans to bend over backward for Muslims, but doesn’t once take Muslims to task for their barbarities and radicalism.

This “special report” starts out with a Muslim American from Cleveland, Ohio demanding of George W. Bush at a meeting in that city that the US take stronger measures to stop anti-Muslim sentiment from spreading in this country. “It’s the young people I’m concerned with,” Fareed Siddiq gravely claims.

Yes, Mr. Siddiq. I agree. It is the young Muslims who we are all concerned with as they are the ones that are most liable to wage Jihad on their fellow Americans in answer to your Muslim causes across the globe as was seen with the Lackawana Six. So, yes, Mr. Siddiq, we worry about the Muslim youth, too… but for a different, more legitimate reason than you.

Siddiq’s bloviation is especially hypocritical in light of the fact that Pakistan, the country of his birth, is nearly as radical and supportive of Jihad across the world as Saudi Arabia with Pakistan ranking as one of the world’s most active terror exporting and supporting countries.

Newsweek goes on to claim that Muslims in the USA consider themselves “Americans”, not radical Muslims. But, Newsweek fails to bother balancing their report with so many easily found anti-western speeches by Muslim Imams across this country. From the Nation of Islam to the common Muslim Mosque radical speeches are far more common than Newsweek wants to let on. Granted the anti-western ranting here is not yet nearly as bad as it is in Europe, still, like elsewhere in the world, we see few Muslim Imams forcefully standing against terrorism and radical Islam.

Iraq: Reid’s Political Opportunism Is Showing

-By Frank Salvato

If you needed anymore proof that Democrat leaders in Congress are playing politics with the war against Islamofascism all you had to do was listen to a recent Capitol Hill press conference where Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) was fielding questions. When asked repeatedly whether the Iraqi people would be safer as a result of the anti-war/troops-out-now lobby getting its beloved US retreat, Reid responded by asking if there were any more questions. The Democrat Party that championed freedom, liberty, honesty and civil rights for the everyman, everywhere, is dead. The Progressive-Left has killed it and buried it in an unmarked grave somewhere in the deserts of Iraq.

As stunningly callous as Reid’s elitist response was, that wasn’t the half of it. In fact, the short exchange between Reid and ABC News correspondent Jack Tapper could very well serve as the defining moment for the 110th Congress’s Democrat leadership.

True Grit: Winning the Hearts and Minds of Al-Qaida

-By Lee Culpepper

I wonder if John Wayne is glad to be dead. If he were alive, I imagine our impotent politicians’ apologizing to the public about Iraq would kill him. Seems like America’s once-triumphant spirit endured through our unrelenting grit and hunger to prevail. Such perseverance remains a prerequisite to all success. Sadly, our new breed of representatives has no familiarity with the hunger necessary to win a war. Do you think our barbaric enemies suffer the same dilemma?

Have we simply grown used to life being too easy? Today 76% of the entire Congress has never served in the military (source: Military Officers Association of America). The 24% of Congress that has served should appreciate the perils inherent to military duty. People die during basic military exercises – danger is in the job description. The fact that warriors kill and also die is not romantic. Military victories come at high prices. Victory requires considerable pain and sacrifice. There was a time when Americans refused to consider defeat. However, the painful sacrifices we have endured in the past are now being polluted by nauseating, limp-wristed politicians who are folding to the insolence and intimidation of an enemy who rejoices in fear and death. Perhaps more telling of our politicians’ moral fiber appears in their cowering to opinion polls.

Nobel Laureate Calls for Bush’s Death at ‘Peace’ Conference

-By Warner Todd Huston

Before I tell you how the Dallas Morning News is breathlessly reporting that Nobel laureate Betty Williams called for the death of President Bush at the “International Women’s Peace Conference” in Dallas on the 11th, I must remind you all that peace activists on the left are far more “civilized”, “Humane”, “tolerant”, and “intelligent” than the rest of us. OK? I just wanted to get that straight before further relating this story.

James Hohmann of the News reports that Williams, who is Irish and not a US citizen by the way, “came all the way from Ireland to Texas to declare that President Bush should be impeached.”

I suppose we should be flattered… or not.

Interestingly, Burying the obvious leade, the News decides to avoid mention of the violent intent of the speaker who later says “Right now, I could kill George Bush” with a title that belies her serious hypocrisy. “Irish peace activist’s speech at Dallas event gets standing ovation”, it says in sunny, innocent language.

Yet the content of this woman’s rant is far more insidious than the sunny title portends.

Professing the “Faith” of Musli-Piscopalianism?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Janet Tu, religion reporter for the Seattle Times, recently came out with a mind-boggling story. She chronicles the odd pronouncement of the Reverend Ann Holmes Redding, an Episcopalian priest from Seattle, who has decided that she is both an Episcopalian and a Muslim.

Incongruously, Redding who is the director of faith formation at St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral, a priest for more than 20 years Tu reports, is “ready to tell people that, for the last 15 months, she’s also been a Muslim — drawn to the faith after an introduction to Islamic prayers left her profoundly moved.”

This is yet another outrage against the Episcopal Church, as hard as it is to rise to the level of outrage for a Church with so many such instances constantly coming to the fore. After all, the Episcopal Church has lurched from one upheaval to another for these many years. From the fight over ordaining female priests, to allowing avowedly and unapologetically homosexual priests to take the pulpit, not to mention their many decades of “progressive” ministries, the Episcopal Church has seen falling numbers in their congregations and splinters over doctrine as a result of the constant reevaluating of its tenets and practices. It’s no wonder that the joke about them seems too true for comfort; Episcopalians are just agnostics who can’t shake that need to go somewhere on a Sunday morning.

This latest instance does not help belie the claims from another, more cynical, religious perspective, that of radical Islamists, who claim the west in general is in relative cultural and religious decay. Islamists see endemic in western societies an unwillingness or inability to uphold their own religious convictions and sees a west constantly warping and tearing down their own practices. Certainly I won’t substantiate that view, but it sure is hard to dismiss it out of hand when stories like this come up.

It is patently absurd, of course, to be both a Muslim and an Episcopalian, even for the gruel thin creed that is Episcopalianism. Not because being Episcopalian is so incompatible with Islam, but because Islam is entirely intolerant of any other religion and is, therefore, entirely incompatible with Episcopalians.

Al Qaeda Strengthens, US Political Resolve Weakens

-By Frank Salvato

Conventional wisdom is that whatever happens between Israel and radical Islam will also be the fate of Western nations, especially the United States. The continued appeasement of Hamas and Fatah by the Israeli government and its failure to thoroughly defeat Hezbollah in last summer’s war validates the contention that without strong political resolve it is impossible to be victorious over radical Islamofascists. As Congress moves forward in its renewed attempt at forcing the US military out of Iraq we would be wise to examine Israel’s current situation more carefully as it is a precursor of things to come.

DEBKAfile, a publication specializing in intelligence ignored by the mainstream media, reported that on July 8, 2007, Hamas and Fatah officials met in Stockholm to begin what should be a fairly expedited negotiation toward reconciling the differences that brought them to civil war in Gaza. The report stated that under the watchful eye of Iranian and Syrian ambassadors, Hamas operations Chief Imad al Alami met with PLO ambassador to Sweden Eugine Makhloof in an effort to hasten that reconciliation.

When this reconciliation concludes Israel will find itself in a most precarious situation. It will have militant Hamas, armed and funded by Iran, at its southeastern border complete with coastal access and Fatah, newly funded by the naïve actions of Israel and the international community, on its eastern border at what forms a choke point for Israel between the West Bank and the Mediterranean. To make matters worse, Iran’s proxy in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Syria, sits ominously on Israel’s northern border, as does Hezbollah-heavy southern Lebanon.

Europe’s ‘Immigrant Problems’ Close to Boiling Point

-By Warner Todd Huston

Islamofascism is fast over taking the immigrant communities of old Europe. Now, by “immigrant community” Europeans mean Muslim immigrants, of course. Whether they be Moroccans, or Africans or what have you, large segments of Europe’s immigrants are from Muslim countries and these insular communities are long past the point of being merely troublesome already having become an outright danger. It has been a long time coming, but some Europeans are finally getting to the point of having had enough. More and more are finally beginning to speak out. But Europe’s empty PC attitudes and platitudes are hard in dying.

We are all aware of the on going riots and mass car burnings in France, but what many Americans ate not aware of is the increasing violence and sexual abuse that is occurring amongst Europe’s most Islamicized immigrant communities. From Sweden, to Germany to the Netherlands, all across old Europe the danger, crime and poverty of their Muslim immigrant communities is growing exponentially every year.

I have written before of how England has seen an growing rise in sexual assaults and in the so-called honor killing, a brutal and barbaric practice where members of a girl’s own family will kill her if she is even seen in public with the “wrong” kind of man. But, England is by no means an isolated trouble spot. All of Europe is seeing the same thing.

Many in Europe are finally starting to wake up and see the threat that Islam presents a civilized society, but they are still too few and not able to sway policy to any great extent… yet.

There’s a NEW Mrs. bin Laden!

Here’s a fun story…

Bin Laden’s son ties the knot
By Associated Press
July 11, 2007

LONDON — Omar bin Laden, the al-Qaida leader’s fourth son, has married a British woman he met in Egypt last fall, British media and colleagues of the bride said today.

Jane Felix-Browne, 51, of Moulton-Cheshire, in northwest England, was in Egypt for medical treatment of multiple sclerosis, the Times and Sun newspapers reported. She told the newpapers she met bin Laden, 27, while riding a horse near Egypt’s Great Pyramid.

Great.

But this leaves me with one burning question.

Where is the bride registered at… Target?

War Between the Head and the Heart – America’s Timidity at War in the 21st Century

-By Warner Todd Huston

There are two kinds of war, when you get right down to it, and the USA has had a little of both. First is the idealistic kind, evinced in that of the American Revolution and WWII, which were both fights to free a continent from despotism. Even Korea and Vietnam can be fitted into the idealistic category because the main goal with each was to stop the evils of communism from spreading further. Then there is the pessimistic kind, like ours with Mexico in the 1840s and most of our various Indian wars from Andrew Jackson’s Seminole excursions in Georgia and Florida to the last major actions against the Nez Perce in the Pacific North West. Few of them were little else than overt land grabs.

One axiom, however, can be applied equally of all our past wars up until recently; war means fighting and fighting means killing. Or, as Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman once unapologetically said, “If the people raise a great howl against my barbarity and cruelty, I will answer that war is war, and not popularity seeking.”

Americans, like other warriors of days past, rarely felt squeamish about killing the enemy, even when they were other Americans — whether they be “native” or Southern. Save for a brief time early in the Civil War as the residents of Virginia were spared too much deprivation by Union forces, or when Lee invaded Maryland and Pennsylvania, even civilians were not spared the hard hand of the God of War. The internecine border war in Kansas and Missouri was vicious for its attacks on civilians even as North and South played at their temporary, tender sensibilities in Virginia and the surrounding countryside for that brief moment of mercy.

For the most part, our ancestors knew that war was a hard business and fought it that way. Theirs was a war of the head. A war where one and all accepted the dreaded but necessary fact that people would die, even if some of those people never raised a hand in anger.

But, around the time of the actions in Vietnam, things began to change in the larger perception of the American populace. The idea that only “the enemy”, often an amorphous term, should be harmed in war began to gain cache. Fire bombing of the likes of a Dresden or the A-Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki began to take on barbaric overtones until we have, at last, arrived at the ridiculous phrase “collateral damage” to explain unwanted, but unavoidable civilian deaths.

Media Serving as Propaganda Arm for Al Qaeda

Reuters admits they were taken in by false beheaded Iraqis story but refuses to accept responsibility for their error

Remember when you were a kid and got caught telling a lie, but your excuse was that a pal “made you do it” and it was so hard to tell the truth anyway because of this reason or that? It didn’t matter to your parents then, did it? Well, here we have Reuters revealing that they fell for a false story about 20 beheaded Iraqis that was planted by insurgents, but do they just admit it and take responsibility? No, they whine that it is “very hard” to get stories in Iraq because it is so dangerous for journalists there.

I can tell we are all rolling our eyes, aren’t we?

On the 28th Reuters and the AP along with most major news sources recklessly reported that 20 beheaded bodies were found by “Iraqi Policemen” on the banks of the Tigris River near Salmon Pak, 19 miles south of Baghdad.

On Rosie’s Website Her Child Dressed in Bullet Bandolier, Camo Clothing

-By Warner Todd Huston

Why would Rosie O’Donnel, a woman known for her wild-eyed rants against firearms, the war on terror, and the military, dress her child in a camo shirt, camo bandana and a bandolier of bullets and then post that picture on her own website? I certainly can’t answer that stunner and neither can the denizens of her nutroots website who seem shocked and utterly unable to assist me in finding out what is going on with this business.

Yet, there it is, for all to see on her website; exactly the photo described above.

We Should be More ‘British’ Says Tory Cameron – So Should Americans!

-By Warner Todd Huston

Several years ago, I wrote an article in which I urged our school systems to teach Americanism so that we could reestablish our American culture. I remember several letters scolding me for this notion, but I got far more agreeing with my main point; without our shared American culture we cannot stand as a nation.

I got one letter from a Brit extolling the virtues of his country saying that they didn’t “need to be British.” He said that it was fully accepted that being British was a meaningless construct and they didn’t need to be “British” there like we need to be “American” here. He was proud that they were somehow past all that “stuff and nonsense.”

Then came the bombings of 7/7.

Now comes the young leader of the British Conservatives, David Cameron, making the self-same argument I made back in 2002, but for his own countrymen. He feels they must be taught “Britishness” once again.

It Has Been Interesting

-By Gregory Stewart

Well, it has been an interesting few weeks of news. In the past few weeks, the president wrote an executive order that essentially says (see link here), “This policy establishes “National Essential Functions,” prescribes continuity requirements for all executive departments and agencies, and provides guidance for State, local, territorial, and tribal governments, and private sector organizations in order to ensure a comprehensive and integrated national continuity program that will enhance the credibility of our national security posture and enable a more rapid and effective response to and recovery from a national emergency” In other words, without the legalese the President has the authority to declare martial law in order to coordinate “national resources” both public and private stave off critical falls of the economy and to centralize authority…

It has been an interesting few weeks, a team of foreign nations planned to blow up the fuel line of JFK International Airport (see link here), and if that is not enough, we have an immigration bill (see link here) that looks like the best compromise, because both extremes of the political aisle hate it,. But, upon further review it has some major flaws that need to be addressed before its passage. For instance, the twenty-four background check should be expanded to ninety-six hours (four business work days) to verify a person’s identity and criminal history. This will enable official the opportunity to full assess an alien criminal history and status….

Why we went to war with Iran: Tales from the future

Here is a great editorial from a paper called the Daily Inter Lake explaining (as if it were an editorial written 5 years from now) on why we will end up in a nuclear war with Iran around “2012.” The author, Frank Miele, gives us a great probable explanation of why a nuclear war with Iran is destined to occur.

Why we went to war with Iran: Tales from the future

Probably some people think the reason we went to war against Iran is because they dropped several nuclear bombs on Israel in 2012.

That makes sense in a simple, straight-forward cause and effect universe. When President Ahmadinejad finally made good on his promise to obliterate Israel, what choice did we have?

It was either attack Iran or wait for the next strike, this time against the United States.

But what most people don’t remember is that there was a good chance to use non-military intervention in Iran before Ahmadinejad had solidified his power base and before he controlled the nuclear technology that he eventually unleashed on the world.

Boise TV: Snide Remarks During Soldier’s Upbeat Report

What is it about some news outlets that they can’t report a story without trying to flavor it with their own biases? That they can’t give “just the facts m’am” but have to throw in their snide asides and negative phraseology? And, it’s bad enough when they do it in their normal attempts at “reporting” the news, but when they do it in between an upbeat report by one of our soldiers who’s opinion is that the surge is working and our presence in Iraq is a good thing, it’s all the more grating. But, then, they just can’t leave their hatred for American foreign policy aside long enough to report this soldier’s enthusiasm, now can they?

In this case, Boise, Idaho TV 2 News, in a story by Scott Logan, just can’t leave the snide comments out of their story of Army First Sergeant Noah Edney’s enthusiastic point of view on our efforts in Iraq. Even the title seems to take a swipe at policy: Boise Infantryman In Baghdad Shares Views On “Surge” — notice the parenthesis around the word surge? Even as surge is a commonly acceptable term and not one to be questioning with quotations they cast doubt onto it by using the grammatical device.

But, if you might think the parenthesis around the word surge might not be suspect, they quickly set the record straight on how they feel about the policy with their very first line of the story.

Radical Islam’s “End-Game”

-By Frank Salvato

A friend of mine said recently, “We shouldn’t even be there. Let them kill each other. I mean, that would solve the problem. Right?” I thought about that statement as I read the news coming out of the Gaza Strip. As Hamas and al-Fatah literally battle to the death for supremacy in their region, it is crucial that we take the time – right now – to understand what it is they’re fighting about. The truth is our lives depend on it.

To look at the situations in Iraq and Gaza as separate conflicts is to view them in a naïve and overly simplistic way. True, the battles taking place in Gaza are more akin to a civil war, if in fact a civil war can take place without a recognized country to govern. And the battles taking place in Iraq are almost completely instigated at the hands of al Qaeda terrorists hell-bent on creating chaos with violence while destroying any chance of democracy in that nation. But what the less visionary among us are deficient in understanding and neglectful or deceitful in not addressing is the reason they are fighting, their goal, their end-game.

Many anti-war activists and members of the American Fifth Column insist that the reason radical Islamist terrorists – insurgents or militants as they like to call them – have taken to jihad against the United States and the West is because of the encroachment of our culture into the 7th Century Middle Eastern culture in which they exist. They point to Osama bin Laden’s 1996 fatwa against the US and the West citing the presence of Western military personnel and installations as the catalyst for al Qaeda’s Islamofascist aggression.

Failure Is Not An Option

-By Jeffrey M. Epstein

Our current state of affairs certainly begs the question as to whether we can really afford to ignore costly lessons from history. One would think that we learned something from the murderous attack launched against us during the predawn hours of December 7th, 1941.

The first wave of 181 warplanes departed from six Japanese carriers to strike our fleet at Pearl Harbor and surrounding military airfields. At 7:00AM, the incoming squadrons appeared on the screens of the Army radar station at Opana. News of the steady-bearing “contacts” was immediately relayed up through the chain of command. However, senior officers falsely attributed those sightings to the anticipated echoes of returning American planes and never sounded the appropriate alarms – a costly assumption that contributed to the death toll of some 2400 servicemen.

Six decades later, three commercial airliners were commandeered by militant Islamist deviants and flown into their intended targets resulting in the deaths of 3000 innocent Americans. Once again, our nation was caught off-guard and paid a hefty price for underestimating an adversary’s resolve and capacity to do us grievous harm.

One could reasonably argue that we haven’t learned much from past mistakes and intelligence failures.

Damn American Culture, It’s All About The ‘Latino’ Vote

-By Warner Todd Huston

Michael Gerson of the Council on Foreign Relations, and the one time “conscience of the White House”, presents the perfect it’s-all-about-winning stance that some Republicans of the Karl Rove wing of the GOP adheres to in this current amnesty for illegals conflict. The idea is that if the GOP is seen as responsible for letting illegals become automatic citizens with little impediment to their attaining that status this will make these immigrants grateful enough to vote Republican and secure a GOP electoral victory for the foreseeable future.

Gerson’s rationale can be seen in his Washington Post article of May 25th, but, unfortunately, Gerson’s is both a cynical and unsafe stance to take. Cynical because it reduces the whole episode to be about nothing but getting votes and unsafe because it is a self-destructive, society destroying move to make the argument into a mere vote mongering scheme.

Gerson’s column starts off with a lament about “anti-immigrant sentiments” in 1882 and goes on to finger point at a current “certain kind of conservative” that we have today who he imagines must be just as racist as our hundred twenty-five year-old kin ostensibly were.

Interestingly, Gerson is all ready to cite a one hundred twenty-five year-old history where it concerns his perception of lurking racism but ignores the only 21 year-old history that figures far more prominently in this debate born of Reagan’s great 1986 amnesty mistake. Few of the requirements and restrictions asked of illegals during the ’86 Reagan mistake were ever realized, yet we are expected now to assume that new requirements will be honored with today’s efforts?

Fool me once…

Understanding the Worth of Our Nation

-By Frank Salvato

It is difficult to value something when its worth is unknown. The adage of one child being given a toy only to leave it out in the rain to rust, never understanding the toys worth, while another child made to earn the same toy is found to take care of it, valuing its worth, is a fitting analogy. This basic truth applies to our American heritage and the continued welfare of our nation.

Most of us have never had to take up arms to protect our freedoms, our liberties, our rights as guaranteed under The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and The Bill of Rights, our Charters of Freedom. In most cases these gifts have been bequeathed to us from those of generations past who did have to serve, to protect and defend our nation and by those who valiantly volunteer to serve today. What is asked of us in return for this legacy of freedom is loyalty to the covenant between citizen and government, loyalty to our nation.

Today, our country faces both a threat from abroad and a threat, in the form of ideological conflict, from within. Some among us choose to accentuate the imperfections of our nation. Some condemn our culture. And still others literally champion our nation’s defeat and demise. Those who choose to diminish the significance of the United States’ contributions to the world, do so in ignorance of the intent of the documents that charted the course for this great nation and the ideologies and principles that provided the foundation for the creation of our governmental covenant.

Denver Post Columnist: Christians Could Be Suspect Over McVeigh’s OK City Bombing

-By Warner Todd Huston

Dick Kreck of the Denver Post seems to think there is a good “point” to a suggestion that Christians should be suspected bombers because Oklahoma City Bomber Timothy McVeigh was supposedly a Christian. In a column about local radio talk show host “Gunny Bob” of KOA, Kreck comments that a radio station detractor has “got a point” when he satirically said that, since McVeigh and Nichols were Christians, all Christians should be placed under surveillance because of the actions of the two bombers. The detractor was responding to talker “Gunny Bob’s” idea that all Muslims in the USA should be forced to wear GPS tracking bracelets so the government could keep track of them all.

Apparently talker Bob is a fiery one against Muslims in this era of the war on terror and his loose talk has stirred Colorado Media Matters, a local branch of the leftist Media Matters organization, to begin targeting the Clear Channel radio host for his opinions.

The reply that Kreck is talking about was posted on the CMM website.

Father of One of Fort Dix Six Losing Business

-By Warner Todd Huston

Should we feel sorry for this? The father of one of the six would be Jihadi murderers in New Jersey is losing his pizza business because people who live in and near Fort Dix will no longer patronize his restaurant.

Muslim Tatar, who has owned Super Mario’s Pizza for five years, says that his lunchtime crowd from nearby McGuire Air Force Base and Fort Dix has largely disappeared, replaced by empty tables and nasty words from passing motorists.

“Now I am a target,” the 52-year-old Tatar told The New York Times for Saturday newspapers, adding that his business is “99 percent dead.”

I have to say, I cannot get too worked up over the supposed “injustice” of this guy finding that no one will spend their money in his pizza shop anymore. Especially when his solution to the failing business is to lie to his customers…

After receiving death threats, Tatar decided he had to take some sort of action to protect his business. Outside the restaurant, he hung a sign reading: “Under New Management.”
