On Thursday, December 19, a town hall hosted by extremist left-winger Al Sharpton of MSNBC, went a bit sideways for him as the event turned into a revolt against Chicago’s Democrat machine politics instead of a forum for his left-wing “solutions” to the problems besetting Chicago’s African Americans.
Much to Sharpton’s dismay, the nearly 100% African American audience at Sharpton’s townhall roused a protest against former Obama operative and current Chicago Rahm Emanuel and the Democrat aldermen of City Hall for their decades of constant failure.
One 82-year-old area preacher even went so far as to call for tea party-styled meetings in the neighborhoods to address all going wrong in the black neighborhoods of Chicago.
Breitbart’s Jeremy Segal reported that the meeting was the first such gathering for decades where so many local groups got together at one time.
“This was a historic event,” Paul McKinley of V.O.T.E. (Voices of the Ex-Offender) and former 2nd Congressional District GOP nominee to replace Jesse Jackson, Jr. told Breitbart News. “Not because of Al Sharpton coming to town,” he continued. “This was first time since electing Mayor Harold Washington in the eighties that all of these grassroots groups and community organizers have come together under one roof to talk about the problems plaguing our community.”
MSNBC’s Sharpton hoped to use the townhall to discuss his usual litany of left-wing causes. Sharpton wanted to talk of raising taxes, hiring more union thugs, imposing stricter gun control measures, and the like, but the crowd had other ideas.
“Instead, attendees offered solutions addressing the problems facing their community as a whole rather than just taking on “gun violence” itself,” Segal reported.”Audience members addressed the need for jobs and solving the foreclosure crisis plaguing Chicago’s south and west sides. Perhaps the loudest message—and one that Reverend Al or the Chicago media have yet to report on—echoed by several different people in attendance as well as panel members was that it is time for the black community to start voting differently.”
Segal also reported that one participant even stood to reject the usual vote for Democrats that her community has perpetuated for generations.
“The manner in which we have been voting needs to change,” Wendy Pearson, an activist against Chicago school closings, told the room. “I’m here to say to you that we have been trained to vote in a specific manner… we need to start looking at the manner in which our elected officials have been voting… if they have not voted in a manner that is beneficial to you, yours, and your community, then you need to start voting them out.”
Is it possible that some African Americans are finally seeing the utter failure of the Democrat Party?
Maybe so, maybe so.
