The second I hear the facile ideas of our elected officials to bring in the Army to start cracking down on “crime” I get visions of jack-booted legions of the Wehrmacht goosestepping through the city, machine guns at hand, knocking over old people and making little kids cry.
But, I guess Representative John “Twitchy” Fritchey is wholly unaware about the rules and philosophies of the American system. You see comrade Fritchey, there is a reason why the Commissars aren’t allowed to bring the Army down upon a city. It’s because our U.S. armed forces are supposed to protect us against foreign enemies. Our laws and police agencies are supposed to protect us from internal crooks, criminals and thugs. And if our police are failing, “Twitchey” Fritchey, it is your fault (yours and your fellow “lawmakers”) Not the police’s.
Further it is not the job of the Army to harass citizens into cowering inside their homes for fear of being cut down in the streets by or own soldiers.
Additionally, I wonder how you’d feel if some of our soldiers were shot at (and perhaps killed) by gangs and then opened returning fire and killed a half dozen kids with its “collateral damage”? It wouldn’t be because our troops would want to kill innocent bystanders, but they’d do it anyway by accident. It happens in Iraq and Afghanistan quite often. You do realize this, right Twitchey”?
Do YOU want to explain to some poor family why the Army killed their kid?
It is a damnably stupid idea you’ve offered. You do realize this, right Twitchey?
It is fortunate that saner minds have made you look as foolish as you deserve to be made to look. Unbelievably, our failed Police Chief Jodi Weis and even Mayor Richard “King” Daley oppose your harebrained idea, Twitchey. That really says something. When failures like that turn out to be the smarter parties, it really makes you look foolish.
Naturally, “King” Daley had to go off on “the guns” as if it were guns to blame for the crime in the city. Tell ya what, Kingie, you are just as responsible for killing all those citizens as the criminals you’ve allowed to reign. Why don’t you explain to the parents of dead kids that they are dead because gang members know that no one they confront is allowed to have a gun with which to protect themselves. They know that they are pretty much assured to be unopposed by returning fire more often than not and that emboldens them. And why don’t you explain to the parents of dead kids that it is the drugs sales that cause the violence, not the guns. Drugs are the problem. Guns are the manifestation of that problem. Getting rid of the guns will not get rid of the problem that brought the guns out.
Thank God I can allow that image of Twitchey Fritchey’s Wehrmacht goosestepping through the city, anyway. Why do we elect such pinheads to government?
