Terrorism, Sure. Oh, but it’s ‘Not a Conspiracy’!

-By Warner Todd Huston

How many terror attacks or attempted terror attacks have occurred on U.S. soil since 9/11? Five? Six? Ten? According to our government each and every one of these attacks, whether failed or not, have had one thing in common: “they are not part of a conspiracy.”

Clearly, however, our officials are lying to us on this count.

Just to name a few of these incidents, in no certain order we’ve had Faisal Shahzad, the Times Square bomber; Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the underwear bomber; Richard Reid, the shoe bomber; Michael Finton (calling himself Talib Islam), the creep in Illinois that wanted to bomb a federal building; Derrick Shareef, the other guy in Illinois planning an attack on a shopping mall and also Major Hassan’s Fort Hood massacre that actually came to fruition. There have been others, too. Just this week, for instance, we got Mohamed Osman Mohamud, the Christmas tree bomber.

But after each of these incidents one of the first things said by our government officials is that these people are not a part of a “conspiracy.” The F.B.I., or the Dept. of Homeland Security, or Janet Napolitano, or even President Obama himself all have rushed to the nearest camera to assure us that this is just the actions of a lone nut. Often these erstwhile government officials have told us that these guys are “home-grown” terrorists.

But this is a lie. There most certainly is a conspiracy going on here. One single thing links each and every one of these many successful and attempted terror attacks: Islam.

Maybe it was true that each of these perpetrators were not integral parts of some terror cell (and that is debatable, after all what aren’t we being told?), maybe few of them or none of them were well-trained foreign operatives. But does any of that matter? Does it matter if they are card-carrying members of al Qaeda if their terror attack succeeds?

But even that point aside, they are all Muslims bent on jihad for the benefit of Allah and a worldwide caliphate. They all want a world under shariah law. They all have a single goal in mind. Each of them wanted the exact same thing and all were working toward that end.

That sounds pretty conspiratorial to me. How about you?
