Hey I got “fact checked” by the website TruthOrFiction.comand was found… to be 100% correct! I was not aware that this happened, but someone stumbled across it and emailed it to me.
Apparently one of my articles was turned into one of those widely distributed email chain letters and it was so widely emailed to and fro that the fact checker websites took up the issue.
The article that was being emailed was mine titled, “Obama Orders Army NOT To Fly U.S. Flag in Haiti.” In this one I reported that the Obama administration ordered the U.S. military not to fly the U.S. flag during its relief work in earthquake-ravaged Haiti in early 2010.
So why did the Obama administration forbid flying our own flag in Haiti?
“We are not here as an occupation force, but as an international partner committed to supporting the government of Haiti on the road to recovery,” the U.S. government’s Haiti Joint Information Center said in response to a query about the flag.
Well, this seemed just too outrageous for some folks to accept out there and apparently enough complaints about my emailed article were directed to TruthOrFiction.com that they looked into it all. Apparently a lot of Obamaites just couldn’t believe my article.
But TruthOrFiction.com begs to differ and set the record straight…
Obama Administration Orders U.S. Relief Forces In Haiti Not To Fly Flag-Truth!
Summary of the eRumor:
This is a forwarded email that says that the Obama administration told U.S. relief forces responding to the Haiti earthquake not to fly the flag. The Truth:
This eRumor caught wind after a commentary by a Chicago based freelance writer, Warner Todd Huston which was published on March 16, 2010Huston editorialized about a March 15, 2010 Navy Times/U.S.A Today article that reported there was a flap sparked by a controversial decision not to fly the national ensign at the U.S. compound in Haiti. Haitian Prime Minister, Jean-Max Bellerive, was present as a U.S. flag was raised at a temporary consular station on the airport tarmac and “thought it appeared as if the United States were taking over the airport.” The article also said, “Army Col. Billy Buckner, spokesman for Joint Task Force-Haiti, a group representing various Obama administration agency heads, said the decision not to fly the American flag was made out of respect as guests of the government of Haiti.”
So, there you go. I am telling the truth.
Take that Obamaites.
