Tyranny, an interesting word for sure and one making a unique comeback in modern day usage. The word Tyranny, for all practical purposes, appears to be hitting its current stride due to its increasing role as the preferred word choice invoked by an ever growing number of American citizens; citizens searching for the verbal preciseness to convey their outright disgust and grave concern over the current governance of their country and resulting direction they see their great country heading.
A certain helplessness has captured the mood of the country as the majority of the electorate discerns an unease over the enormous expansion of the federal government into private sector industries such as insurance, banking, auto and now healthcare, with the whole of the student loan industry inexplicably bolted on to the recent passage of healthcare legislation, joining the ride from private to public sector – A modern day type of Coda accompanying the congressional democrats’ first movement of their legislative symphony entitled, Takeover By Decree.
The majority of Americans now view the healthcare legislation signed into law eight days ago in the cynical pejorative as the crowning achievement – of a corrupt process that circumvented both the explicit language and implicit nature of the United States Constitution and our Nation’s 221 year Constitutional system of governance. A system, which in 14 months under the Obama administration has been severely affected through the ruling party’s dispatch of an, “at-all-costs” mentality in achieving its stated goal of social redistribution.
In response, the American public has innately turned to the most efficient descriptive & exasperated expression for such a ruling government – arriving at the indispensable conclusion, tyranny is not an antique political vestige beholden to the ages. The American public has spotted tyranny, knowing it now to be alive and well on their own soil here in the 21st. Century, home to the digital age, advanced medicine, robotics, and now tyranny.
For America, up close and personal, has seen tyranny personified in the form of a 2,700 page healthcare bill hammered together without public input, rational discourse, bipartisanship and regard to the will of the American people nor fidelity to the supreme law of the land, the Constitution. Healthcare legislation that was pushed through in such a manner so as to intentionally divorce the legislative process from public review and debate; essentially, serving to intentionally hoodwink the American people. And now that the democrats obtained their prized healthcare legislation, some 17 percent of the economy will be affected, along with billions of new taxes enacted with the eventuality of rationed care and the government coming in between its citizens and their healthcare. An interposition which will surely affect the autonomy of every American.
Businesses large and small across the country are now just beginning to comprehend how all of the new regulations and taxes contained in the 2,700 page law will affect their bottom line. And the news is not good. Several large companies have come out within the past several days warning their shareholders of the large write-downs they will be incurring as a result of the new regulations and taxes. Write-downs that will affect shareholder value, dividends and jobs.
Just last week the companies John Deere and Caterpillar announced they would have to take charges of $150 Million and $100 Million respectively due to the loss of tax deductions resulting from the newly enacted healthcare legislation. According to a 3/26/10 Wall Street Journal story, the 500 companies listed on the S&P index are expected to take a combined hit of $4.5 billion on first-quarter earnings as estimated by the international financial services group, Credit Suisse.
Even after obtaining passage of their healthcare legislation, the congressional democrats, in tandem with the Obama administration, have now taken to painting their healthcare opposition as, “dangerous extremists” responsible for fostering a climate of division.
And in further continuance of their, “at-all-costs” modus operandi, the congressional democrats are even demanding congressional testimony from company officials who recently spoke out about the added costs of the new healthcare legislation. This is simply the congressional democrats’ style and one the Obama administration actively endorses and promotes, a style of political intimidation and corruption all too familiar a scene over the past 14 months of Team Obama’s administration.
Representing a staple in these constitutionally challenged times is the current congressional democrats’ uncanny ability to work with the Obama administration in near perfect Tyrannical Harmony of the Highest (Unconstitutional) Fidelity.
To truly understand the thrust of the meaning behind the word, “Tyranny” is to understand the word’s historical etymology and its kinship amongst its cousin words as used in our past and present lexicon of the American language.
The word, tyranny has its roots in ancient governing states and powers and has grown to encompass a substantial body of developed meaning from its originating progeny in the times of the ancient Romans and Greeks all the way through the centuries to contemporary times. The word tyranny is commonly defined as, “an arbitrary or unrestrained exercise of power and or despotic abuse of authority.” Words similar in meaning are, “absolutism, authoritarianism, fascism, highhandedness, monocracy, totalitarianism and unreasonableness.”
The congressional democrats and Obama administration have served to divide America yet at the same time galvanize America around its Constitution, Liberty and Representative form of Governance.
A paradox . . . But Tyranny . . . All the same.
The Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Founding Fathers – our original Patriots – are on our side. For we all stand on the shoulders of giants in the land of America where True North will always remain center right.
Become informed and stand up for the millions who stood up for you and the Constitution by simply getting involved. Register voters, volunteer, speak-up and be heard in the land of the free and home of the brave!
These are rights you will be right in exercising.
