Civil Disobedience

-By Dan Scott

ObamaCare has managed to pass the House of Representatives and it is only a matter of a few days before they complete the package with their reconciliation bill. Those who passed the Law had very little respect for those they claimed to represent given they were unwilling to present themselves and their bill to the electorate in November for their judgment. So cowardly were the bill’s backers for a while they actually contemplated passing the Law without voting on it, however, with their fig leaf of deception exposed they realized such an action would give them no political cover. Obviously filling Washington, DC’s streets with protestors was not effective, neither was vocally opposing ObamaCare at Town hall meetings. Do we quit and give up to let the usurpers have their way? Or do we step up to the next level of expressing our discontent and opposition to this imposed Law against the consent of the governed?

Will making legal challenges in Court be sufficient? Are we really confident to leave such matters to the Courts when in the past they have repeatedly failed the American People (Kelo Decision, EPA to regulate CO2) when it concerns the consent of the governed? Yes there will be legal challenges, but in the meantime the most egregious parts of the Law will go into effect immediately such as the annual billions of dollars in taxes to further suppress the economy by robbing businesses and individuals of investment income.

Many of you now having woken up to a radical agenda that has been foisted upon the country may now consider either running for office or becoming volunteer staff at a local political campaign office this November. If you are upset at the outrage that occurred in the night hours of March 21st, then get involved at the local level in your county and purge those who are not faithful as representatives. Choose your political representative carefully, there were 34 Democrats in the House of Representatives who voted against this monstrosity and therefore deserve at minimum your consideration of the positions they hold on other issues. Healthcare was only the tip of the iceberg that will be foisted upon the country to its harm in the months to come. This November, some Senatorial Republicans may not deserve your vote and need to be removed during the primaries.

So what is the next level of expressing our discontent? That would be acts of Civil Disobedience. To those of you who participated in the Tea Party Movement you must weigh what cost is to be borne by you between opposing the government or simply going along with what they demand. Do you commit to turn back the tide of unwelcome and unwanted meddling by government or do you acquiesce to their demands?

…Gandhi saw that the power of any tyrant depends entirely on people being willing to obey. The tyrant may get people to obey by threatening to throw them in prison, or by holding guns to their heads. But the power still resides in the obedience, not in the prison or the guns…

I suggest very strongly that the Tea Party members form a plan and quickly because if we don’t have a plan, then those who are more emotionally driven may engage in violent acts. Any act of violence will diminish our high moral ground. Civil Disobedience is the non-violent assertive opposition to a government that has crossed the line of consent against its people. The vote for ObamaCare has officially destroyed the first paragraph of the Constitution beginning with, “We the People.” This is no longer a government of the People, by the People and for the People; this is a government by the elite minority who has seized power through stealthy manipulation of its laws and misrepresenting themselves to their respective constituents.

Here are some suggestions your groups may want to consider for Civil Disobedience Actions:

A general strike, a national sick out day from work.

A national rolling road block where at a certain day and time those on the interstates drive at the minimum allowable speed (40 mph) to create traffic jams and gridlock.

Stop giving the Federal and State governments no interest loans via large income tax refunds. Every dollar of refund (of your own money) you get from the government is an interest free loan to them, stop enabling their spendthrift behavior, adjust your withholding for a zero refund. Using your refund as a forced savings plan is laziness, if you can’t discipline yourself to save by putting money away each month, then how can you insist the people who run the government stop being spendthrifts? Change begins with you, not them.

Stop buying US bonds of any kind, including Savings Bonds, put money in a CD or Savings account, not in the government’s hands. Every bond you buy enables the spendthrift bureaucrats to waste more money.

Are you a bond trader or firm who deals in US bonds? Stop doing business in US government bonds, stop enabling their bad behavior. Ultimately they will come for you in due time, stand with us now and you won’t have to face the government alone.

Kicking it up a notch, forcing the police to arrest you as Gandhi did in India. The point of being arrested is to force the authorities to recognize the population is no longer content to be pushed around. As more and more people are arrested, those who sit on the sidelines will be galvanized speak up as well. Nothing says you are more serious to everyone who watches than to be arrested for peacefully standing up for what is right or against what is wrong.

A pedestrian strike, on a specified day and time, when the traffic lights turn to allow walking in the crosswalk, lay down in the middle of the crosswalk to create gridlock in all the nation’s cities and specifically Washington DC to force the police to arrest you.

Protest in front of the Chinese and Japanese Embassies; tell them to stop buying US bonds and stop enabling irresponsible leaders. Without these two countries buying bonds, the US would be stopped from any further reckless spending. Can you imagine the embarrassment of Obama and his liberal spendthrifts if US citizens are asking help from a foreign power to restrain their own government? Even the calls from China for spending restraint by US leaders have gone unheeded, tell them it’s ok by you that they stop enabling bad behavior, buy somebody else’s bonds or better yet buy US made goods.

Protest in front of the Federal Reserve Banks around the country; demand they stop printing money to buy US Bonds of any kind including Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Medical Professionals, send a letter to the governor of your state, House of Representatives member and Senator that you are retiring from healthcare as a physician by December 31st 2010 as the onerous provisions of the bill that was passed can not be honored or sustained by your practice.

All Medical Care providers, send a letter to the governor of your state, House of Representatives member and Senator that you are no longer accepting any new patients with Medicare or Medicaid as their low reimbursement costs can no longer be subsidized through the insurance companies and individuals by passing it on to them and thus it is no longer feasible to treat such holders of government insurance.

All insurance companies, send a letter to the governor of your state, House of Representatives member and Senator that you are no longer going to pay one penny more to Medical Care providers than you are already reimbursing them since to do so forces up premiums for your insured members. You are refusing to subsidize the under reimbursement by the government of the Medical Care providers, you must pay your fair share.

Business Owners who employ part time workers, send a letter to the governor of your state, House of Representatives member and Senator that you are laying off most if not all of your part time workers by December 31st, 2010 because of the unsustainable provisions to provide health care or pay onerous taxes and penalties to either stay in business or forced to reduce the scale of your business.

Bank Managers and CEO’s, refuse to sell or originate any loan for Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae, make only loans that are reasonable, and reject CRA mandates to grant loans to people who can’t pay them back.

As each group steels its resolve to resist the tyranny of this imposed Law, the elite members of Congress will first shriek with anger and threats. As Election day in November 2010 approaches, their shrieking will diminish because each time they speak with anger and threats it will remind the People of America of who imposed this Law without their consent. On Election day, the electorate will judge the elites and then we will know who governs America, the free and the brave or the elites who desire power to dictate at their whim. Are we sheepdogs or are we sheep?
