Former Australian Official Attacks USA for Second Amendment Rights

-By Warner Todd Huston

In the aftermath of the murder of Australian baseball player Christopher Lane, Australia’s former Deputy Prime Minister Tim Fischer attacked the USA over its Second Amendment rights saying that our rights should be taken away from us.

Appearing on NBC, Fischer hyperbolically said that the USA was “corrupting the world” with of its Constitutional rights to bear arms.

“The U.S. has chosen the pathway of illogical policy with regard to guns. They cannot expect not to have any criticism of it worldwide. I am angry because it is corrupting the world, this gun culture of the United States,” Fischer said.

This is all in response to the murder of the popular Aussie ball player, of course, but it is indicative of the Euro-styled, anti-liberty, big government elitists like Fischer, those that think they have a right to tell “the lowly masses” how to live their lives.

Granted we can understand and certainly sympathize with Fischer’s grief. But one should not make policy appeals through grief. There is an old saying in the law that essentially says that overreacting to bad situations makes for bad law.

But, Fischer also makes a singular mistake, the sort that most of his ilk make, to assume that all of America is just like the lowlivian Rap culture and the race-baiting industry that is spawning all this.

This murder had precisely nothing to do with a “gun culture” in America and everything to do with rap music race-baiters like Al Sharpton, Ben Jealous, and Jesse Jackson, and the thug/gang culture fostered by America’s failed black community.
