A mentally disabled Bridgewater, New Jersey shopping mall security officer fired for mistakenly asking that a Muslim woman remove her veil wants his job back.
The security man, Marc Krause, of Rariatn Borough, has filed a legal complaint against General Growth Properties, owner of the Bridgewater Commons mall where the incident happened, and IPC International Corporation, the mall’s vendor for security, alleging discrimination and wrongful termination.
The dispute occurred in May when Krause asked a Muslim woman to remove her face scarf thinking he was enforcing the mall’s no-mask policy. Instead of just reprimanding him after informing him that the woman’s veil was a vestige of her religion, Krause was fired after the woman filed a lawsuit of her own.
According to NJ.com, Krause is “classified as having borderline intellectual functioning, or below-average cognitive ability” and until this single incident had a perfect employment record.
Krause has been employed by the mall and the security service since 2001 without a single complaint filed against him.
Krause alleges in his complaint that the mall was the decision maker for his firing and he wants his job back.
But David Keating, vice president of corporate communications for GGP, says Krause is “not a mall employee, but rather an employee of the mall’s security vendor.”
“The lawsuit seeks Krause’s reinstatement to his previous position at Bridgewater Commons, economic and compensatory damages, non-economic damages for pain and suffering, and attorney costs, with a trial by jury, the complaint said,” NJ.com reports.
Breitbart is told that a boycott protesting the firing of the security guard is being planned against Bridgewater Commons starting perhaps as soon as next week.
