Public Service: Help Some High School Students With Their Debate Tournament

From the NCFCA…

I just wanted to let you know about a wonderful opportunity coming your way. January 26-28, a group of junior and senior high school students will be involved in a speech and debate contest at the Harvest Bible Chapel (1805 High Pointe,Naperville, IL). These students are part of the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association or NCFCA.

The goal of this group is to train up our students in speech and critical thinking skills that we know are so necessary these days. Many of you have judged for us before and you know how fun and inspiring it is to work with this amazing group of young people

In order to conduct this tournament, we need more than 400 community volunteers to evaluate speeches & debate rounds for this event. Would you consider giving 3 hours of your time to serve these students from our community?

No previous experience is necessary! The only requirement is that you are at least 18 years old and willing to sit for approximately 90 minutes to listen to speeches or a debate round.

You will receive a brief orientation when you arrive that will equip you with all the information you need to evaluate the students. Basically, you will listen to a maximum of 8 speeches and rank the speakers from 1-8. For debate, you will listen to one debate round between two teams and choose a winner of the round.

If you will be available to serve these students, you can go directly to http://www.ncfcaregion6.info/ to register yourself. Please feel free to invite a friend to participate as well. Lots of volunteers are needed. For further details, please feel free to contact me.

If you can’t help out at this time, please tell your friends about this opportunity. Feel free to forward this information on to them or send Maura their contact information and she will be glad to contact them.
