President Barack Obama’s Inauguration Speech

-By Israel Teitelbaum

If I were President Barack Obama’s speechwriter, I would begin this way.

Good afternoon fellow Americans:

Thank Heaven and thank you American People for this opportunity to serve our great nation, and help bring the change that is desperately needed by every man, woman and child in the USA. For far too long, government has reached well beyond the dictates of the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution, and usurped the rights of moms, dads and children all across America, depriving them of their individual and religious liberty. Our state and local governments have interfered with parents’ right to raise their children to become contributing and law abiding citizens, who respect the rights of others and remain loyal to their family traditions. The results have been devastating to our families and communities.

Our former great cities, built with blood, sweat and tears of heroic soldiers, pioneers and ordinary citizens, have become shadows of their glorious past. Many are now filled with abject poverty, crime and devastation. The family, which served as the essential fabric of our society, has been replaced by government opinion shapers, not unlike those of the former Soviet Union, and in some ways worse. Soviet students received a far better education in preparation for success in our modern society. Our misguided public educational system has succeeded in destroying the very building blocks of society, while continually lowering educational standards. The results are strewn over our cities in the form of children lost to gangs, poverty, crime and devastated communities, as well as bloated state budgets that cannot be sustained. This all cries out for change, which I intend to do here and now, with the help of Congress and the American People.

I’m calling on Congress to sponsor the Civil Rights Act for Equal Educational Opportunity. This legislation will complete what the Civil Rights Act of 1964 regretfully omitted. While the American People came to recognize the importance of equal opportunity in housing, employment and public accommodations, education was left out of the mix. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibited material discrimination. The Civil Rights Act for Equal Educational Opportunity will do the same for spiritual discrimination – the minds, hearts and souls of our children, and ultimately, all of society.

Our nation was founded on the foundation of individual and religious freedom. To heal our nation, this right needs to be restored. When we tear down the wall of discrimination in education, every parent will become a customer, who can select the education that best meets the needs of their children. This will be similar to going shopping at the mall, with a gift certificate in your hand, and searching for the best education available for your child.

Just as free enterprise produces competition, and compels ever improved products at reduced costs, so too will parental choice do for education. No longer will children be required to languish in dangerous schools, where learning is almost impossible. With improved and more economical education, will come an improved society in every way. Crime will be reduced; businesses will become more efficient and productive; poverty will be substantially reduced and government will become less costly, more efficient, and far more responsive to the will of the people.

Specifically, the Civil Rights Act for Equal Educational Opportunity will mandate equitable funding for children in nonpublic schools, while respecting the liberty of schools in hiring and provision of services. In accordance with the 10th Amendment, academic standards and means of funding will be left to the states.

If you agree with this change, I invite you to join the conversation and let us know. Please see below the email we sent to Aurit, which she asked me to pass on to you. Your opinion is also important to your representatives in Congress. They can be reached at 202-224-3121.

Thank you for your time and patience in helping rescue the many children and families suffering daily in our nation’s schools. May you be rewarded in kind for your worthy efforts.

Continued success and all the best.
