Ben Carson: CAIR Broke the Law With Its Political Attacks

-By Warner Todd Huston

GOP candidate Dr. Ben Carson says that the non-profit Muslim activist group CAIR broke the law with its recent political attacks on him.

In an email sent to supporters on Saturday, Carson said, “The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) held a public press conference demanding that I withdraw from the presidential race.”

“Here’s the catch,” Carson’s email continued, “CAIR is a tax-exempt nonprofit, and the IRS rules explicitly prohibit such groups from intervening in political campaigns on behalf of–or in opposition to–a candidate.”

The Doctor is calling on the IRS to investigate the possible violation of it tax-exempt status.

Carson’s campaign also started an online petition to get supporters to demand that the IRS summarily revoke CAIR’s tax exempt status for its continued political operations.

“Under the Obama administration, the IRS has systematically targeted conservative nonprofit groups for politically motivated audits and harassment,” Dr. Carson said in a statement on his website. “The agency should now properly do its job and punish the real violators of America’s laws and regulations.”

This call from the Carson campaign comes after CAIR demanded that Carson leave the race after he had said that Americans shouldn’t vote for a practicing Muslim for president.

In response to Carson’s warnings about Muslims, CAIR demanded that he withdraw from the race.

Of course, CAIR is an un-indicted co-conspirator with a list of foreign terror groups and is heavily funded by the Saudis who fund terror across the world.
