Schilling Demands Hare Denounce Delusional Statement on Jobs

From the Schilling for Congress campaign (17th District)…

IL unemployment at 10.1%; Hare says “we’re on the right track.”

EAST MOLINE, IL–Bobby Schilling, Republican candidate for Congress in the Illinois 17th District, called on Rep. Hare to accept responsibility for his failed record on jobs and spending. In the four years Rep. Hare has represented the 17th District, the unemployment rate has doubled and the national debt has increased by $5 trillion.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently released a report showing another 95,000 jobs lost in September. The unemployment rate is 9.6% nationally, 10.1% in Illinois. Illinois currently ranks 48th in job creation.

Schilling also demanded that Rep. Hare denounce his delusional statements about jobs and the economy. Rep. Hare recently told the Quincy Herald-Whig that the Democrats (who have controlled Congress since 2007) “do not deserve the blame” for a slumping economy, instead passing blame on to President Bush. He also noted that “we’ve got job growth, we’re headed in the right direction.”

According to a recent Public Opinion Strategies poll, 65% of voters believe our country is headed on the wrong track, while only 23% agree with Rep. Hare that “we’re headed in the right direction.”

Schilling said the American people are tired of excuses and ready for results.

“Rep. Hare doesn’t take important issues like jobs and wasteful spending seriously,” Schilling said. “Not only did Rep. Hare deny the $13.6 trillion debt as a ‘myth’ that needs to be debunked — now he says 10.1% unemployment is the ‘right direction’ for Illinois. It’s time for Rep. Hare to show some class, take off his extremely partisan blinders, and look at the facts. Illinois needs to move in a new direction to put our people back to work.”

Bobby Schilling, a native of Rock Island, graduated from Alleman High School and attended Black Hawk College. Schilling, a local business owner, is the Republican candidate for the 17th Congressional District in Illinois. Bobby is running on a platform of bringing jobs and real representation back to the 17th District. Earlier this year, Schilling conducted a 34-city “Bob’s for Jobs” tour, where he met with voters and employers all across the 17th District. Schilling was recently named an official ‘Young Gun’ by the National Republican Congressional Committee in their Young Guns program of top tiered races.
