The race in the Massachusetts 10th District has recently been determined by political handicapper Charlie Cook as a “lean Democrat” race and others have declared it a dead heat. But news is now emerging that just might help the few undecided voters left out there to chose the Republican over the Democrat.
Democrat candidate and current Norfolk District Attorney Bill Keating seems to be in a spot of ethical trouble. The AP is reporting that Keating took campaign donations totaling $1,545 from the lawyer of a man that the DA’s office Keating heads is prosecuting for murder.
Keating, A Democrat running for Congress in the 10th district, received two donations from attorney John McGlone in August totaling $1,545, according to an Associated Press review of campaign records. McGlone also co-hosted a Quincy fundraiser for Keating in August.
McGlone represents Robert O’Connell, charged with attempted murder after being arrested for shooting Milton firefighter Joseph Fasano during a confrontation. Keating’s office is prosecuting O’Connell.
That is a pretty blatant ethical violation to be taking donations from a man being prosecuted by his own office!
One has to wonder how many voters will find this ethical lapse to be enough in this close race to chose Republican Jeff Perry over Democrat Bill “Plea Bargain Bill” Keating.
