Walsh Campaign Again Faces Lawsuit

Former Campaign Manager Files Amended Complaint for Unpaid Services

MORTON GROVE, IL — This morning in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Keith Liscio, former Campaign Manager for 8th Congressional District Republican nominee Joe Walsh, filed an amended complaint against Walsh’s campaign for unpaid campaign management services on behalf of his firm Patrickson-Hirsch Associates. Liscio originally brought suit against the campaign in January seeking payment of $20,000 in unpaid fees but that complaint was dismissed without prejudice last month on a pair of legal technicalities.

Specifically, the judge in the case ruled that Liscio’s complaint must explicitly state that Mr. Walsh and Mr. Liscio’s agreement in the case was oral and that the complaint must list Liscio’s campaign duties and responsibilities. The new complaint addresses both of those issues.

Among Liscio’s listed responsibilities was driving Walsh to campaign events because Walsh’s driver’s license had been suspended for driving without insurance. Liscio also provided advice and counsel which resulted in Walsh running in the 8th District rather than the 10th District where the candidate resided because the 10th District race was deemed unwinnable for Walsh. Liscio also helped Walsh develop a strategy to target Tea Party activists. Walsh later declared himself “The Tea Party Candidate” despite the fact that he had never attended a Tea Party event until months after announcing his candidacy. A listing of more than 24 duties and responsibilities is included in the complaint.

According to Mr. Liscio, “At the time of my departure from his campaign there was never any question of what I was owed, only when I’d be paid. For Mr. Walsh and his legal team to pretend otherwise now is simply a calculated effort to again avoid his responsibility and drag this process out. The events of the past several months have born out my contentions. The two people who took over my responsibilities also left the campaign for non-payment. The same thing happened to the two who followed them. I’ve also been contacted by various vendors seeking payment for unpaid invoices. My case is just one more in a long series of examples of Mr. Walsh attempting to avoid his debts.”

Despite a history which includes a foreclosure, several evictions, tax problems, multiple liens and judgments, and several potential pending lawsuits, Mr. Walsh is running for Congress as a fiscal conservative who rails against out-of-control government spending.
